I was heading back home when I got a call from Axel.
“Axel, I’ve been trying to reach out to you all but it wasn’t connecting” I said over the phone.
“Oh okay, we just arrived at the camping site few minutes ago. Legend don’t worry okay, we un-derstand the reason why you didn’t come with us. Actually today’s Melody’s birthday although Jasmine said we shouldn’t say anything to her concerning it because she hates celebr@ting her birthday” Axel narrated and I got chastened hearing that.
“She kinda told me her birthday was today but I forgot. I didn’t wake up early, I would have joined the camping” I complained with a frown and Axel chuckled.
“We can’t allow such fun go to waste. Should I call my driver to come pick you up” He asked.
“It sounds like a good idea but it will only be a burden. Just s-end me the address of the camp site” I said with a smile not knowing if I just let go of an great idea.
“Legend turn around. Don’t keep my driver waiting for too long. If you get on a bus. You will have to walk an extra mile before getting to where we are so it’s only nice you come with my driver” Axel cut in and hung up.
“Hello, hello Axel” I called out and looked at my phone screen, he hung up alre-ady.
“Mr Legend” The driver called waving at me.
“Mr Legend doesn’t exactly go well together” I mumbled and walked to his car.
That was how I got to the camping site. I was on my way heading to the camping site when Grayson called and told me about Melody’s birthday pretending like he didn’t knew I know alre-ady.
“Happy birthday Melody, wishing you all the happiness you deserve” I said smiling and placed the little gift I got for her on her palm.
“Thank you Legend” Melody g-asped and gave me a ti-ght hu-g out of the blue and everyone’s eyes went wi-de open at the sight of that.
“You’re welcome” I said with a confused smile patting her back as I looked at everyone’s face expression.
“Melody get off him alre-ady. If I wasn’t Legend’s friend, I would have thought the both of you are dating” Axel said as he broke the hu-g and stood in our middle.
“We’re all here to have fun, so stop putting us all in an awkward situation” Axel added with a shrug and went back to where he was sitting. Melody’s cheeks flu-shed as she stared at me.
“Attention everyone… Let’s not make this birthday p@rty a boring one so let’s pl@ya game” Jasmine suggested with a smile and I nodded in agreement.
“Good idea” Grayson and I affirmed.
“Alright what are we waiting for” Axel said grinning and Jasmine walked to our front as we all took out seat.
“Firstly we will be pla-ying a game and no one is allowed to avoid a question. There’s a penalty if you avoid to answer a question” Jasmine instructed with a nau-ghty smile.
“Oh no…. This game is going to be nau-ghty” I g-asped smiling wi-dely.
“I like nau-ghty” Grayson cut in grinning.
“I love anything fun. Melody you’re the birthday girl so you’re the first to answer any question here” Axel announced.
“Okay let’s begin. Everyone seat in a circle” Jasmine instructed as she sat in the middle of Grayson and Axel.
“Whoever this bottle stops in front of will pick a question from the list of questions here” Jasmine said and brou-ght out a sheet of paper from her pocket placing a bottle in our middle.
“Wow Jasmine, you c@m£ prepared” Melody g-asped smiling and Jasmine win-ked at her.
“I’m always prepared and I thought of ma-king this night a long one. We can’t actually trust this dudes we will be spending the night with” Jasmine said bluntly and I chuckled.
“Jasmine did you just indirectly called us per-verts. I can’t believe this” Grayson nagged as he rolled his eyes.
“She didn’t do it indirectly. She actually said it directly. Jasmine get those nau-ghty thoughts out of your head, you’re not even the type of girls I’m into so don’t even go there” Axel said sarcastically and Jasmine fixed her eyes on him.
“What’s wrong with girls like us. Don’t forget Melody and I are the beauty queens of Rock Prim” Jasmine br@gged and I laughed.
“Exactly… I didn’t want to be full of myself but Axel we’re still very pretty so what guy in his right s-enses won’t fall for us” Melody argued placing her fin-ger on her cheeks as she acted cute.
“You sound like you’re the only pretty girls we have in Rock Prim” Grayson sneered and I chuckled.
“Yes we are” They both chorused.
“Alright, alright let’s not move away from ma-king Melody’s birthday a memorable. Melody, Jasmine, you’re both pretty and the three dudes here aren’t per-vert okay. We have our own principles okay. Now back to the game, who’s spinning the bottle” I asked stopping the argument from going on and Jasmine rolled her eyes not satisfied with my interruption.
“The birthday girl should go first” Axel uttered.
“Oh no, I forgot I bought a cake on my way here. Hope it hasn’t gotten ruined” I g-asped and swiftly checked my school bag and brou-ght the cake out.
“Only the Y in Melody got smashed. This will do. How about after the game we all have the cake” Jasmine suggested and everyone grinned.
“Alright” We all anchored.
AUTHOR’S POV
Melody spin the bottle and it landed in front of Legend and Jasmine chuckled.
“It’s really working out for you girl. Now you have to pick the first question” Jasmine instructed grinning as she gave the paper to Melody.
“Okay, the first question goes like this… Legend can you ever date same s-x as you” Melody asked and everyone’s eyes landed on Legend, eagerly awaiting his answers.
“Emm… I don’t mind dating same s-x or opposite s-x, I think I can go for either of them” Legend replied and a wi-de smile appeared on all their faces.
Thank goodness. Everyone muttered in their minds except for Legend who didn’t put much thought into the question.
Legend spin the bottle and it landed on Axel. Melody gave him the paper.
“Jasmine can I skip this question” Legend stuttered after re-ading the next question.
“Like I said there’s a penalty if you skip a question” Jasmine reminded.
“What’s the penalty” Legend asked curiously.
“You will have to k!ss the birthday girl” Jasmine grinned and Legend stared at Melody.
“What do you think is the best option” Legend asked Axel and Grayson.
“Let’s hear the question first” Grayson g-asped and Legend swallowed ha-rd.
“Axel will give me a pe-ck on thel-ips” Legend uttered slowly and before anyone will even think blink Axel pe-cked on Legend’sl-ips and his eyes went wi-de open.
“I think this was a more preferable idea. I’m pretty sure Legend k!ssing Melody will only make things awkward” Axel said bluntly.
“I don’t think that was a good idea” Grayson mumbled in jealousy.
Axel spin the bottle and it landed on Axel himself. Legend p@$$ed the paper still feeling awkward.
“The question goes like this… Do I have ro-mantic feelings for anyone here” Axel uttered and his heartbeat skipped.
“So do you” Jasmine asked excitedly.
“Yeah” Axel blu-shed and Jasmine blu-shed even more after hearing that. Axel spin the bottle and it landed on Grayson, he p@$$ed the paper.
“It’s same question. If I have ro-mantic feelings for anyone here. My answer is yes” Grayson said coldly and Legend stared at him.
“Grayson you’ve never told me you have feelings for anyone. I’m curious” Legend uttered excitedly and Grayson looked away.
“It’s good to know everyone here have a crush” Jasmine said smiling.
Grayson spin the bottle and it landed on Melody. He p@$$ed the paper to Melody.
“I should have a french k!ss with the person next to me on my right” Melody uttered in a low tone and the person next to her was Legend. Legend didn’t even blink when Melody placed herl-ips on his and her heart melted as Legend reciprocated the k!ss, her heart beat raced a marathon same with Legend.
A beep c@m£ on Legend’s phone but he didn’t notice he was in the middle of something else. Although Grayson saw it as the message popped on the screen of Legend’s phone because .
The game was over. Grayson dragged Axel at out of the tent.
“Grayson what are you doing” Axel asked curiously.
“What was the meaning of the text you s-ent to Legend” Grayson fired seriously.
“I was only been myself. What’s wrong with that” Axel uttered with a shrug.
“You have to go in there and tell Legend you didn’t mean to s-end him that text” Grayson ordered and Axel scoffed.
“I won’t do no such thing. I’m Axel Alexander, I don’t watch things sli-p away from my hand” Axel said seriously and walked out but Grayson dragged him back.

FLASHBACK*** A message popped on Legend’s phone screen and I looked at it. It was a confession message from Axel.
°°° I’ve decided to tell the one I have feelings for how I feel about him. Legend I’ve always had ro-mantic feelings for you. I don’t want to wait anylonger before telling you how I feel for you, I have the feeling you sli-p away from me°°° Axel texted.
After re-ading the message I glared at Axel who pretended to have done nothing. I ti-ght£ñed my fist at the sight of that. *** FLASHBACK ENDS.
“You must tell Legend that message wasn’t for him so don’t even say you won’t do it. Don’t let me lose my cool” I uttered seriously as I dragged Axel back but he je-rked my hands off.
“I’m nothing like you Grayson so stay out of my business. Let Legend decide for himself. Why are you feeling so insecure? If you also have feelings for Legend fight for yourself and stop trying to pick a fight with me. To be honest with you, I’ve never felt so insecure my whole life until I learnt you’re friends with Legend. Look around, do you think Legend will go for any one of us” Axel said sarcastically and walked away.
“I’m nothing like you Axel, I also know what I want” I gro-an ed glaring at him as he entered our tent.
I went back to the tent and everyone was set to sleep alre-ady.
“I guess we won’t be staying up all night like I expected. Good night everyone and thanks so much for the cake Legend” Jasmine said smiling as she covered herself with her blanket.
“Good night Jasmine” Legend uttered and Jasmine closed her eyes.
“Looks like you’re the only one she noticed” Axel tea-sed and covered himself with his blanket as well.
“She didn’t even say good night to me” Melody chuckled.
“Can you guys let me sleep. It’s pretty late alre-ady” Jasmine yelled and started snoring.
“Did she just sleep talk” Legend laughed ha-rd and Melody laughed with him.
“Looks like you two aren’t re-ady to go to sleep yet” I cut in as I lie on my be-dding covering myself.
“Good night everyone” Melody said smiling and l@yon her be-dding.
“Good night everyone” I g-asped and closed my eyes.
“Good night” Legend replied and sat down on his be-dding then switched off the lights.
Looks like Legend haven’t re-ad Axel’s message yet. It will get super awkward if he does. I thought seriously.
LEGEND POV
I’m so happy I made it to Melody’s birthday. I hope she likes the gift I got her. I muttered in my mind.
FLASHBACK*** “Mr driver can I stop by and get something for my friend” I asked as we p@$$ed by a cake shop.
“Alright Mr Legend” He said and stopped the car.
“Actually Mr doesn’t go well with Legend so just call me Legend” I corrected and c@m£ out of the car.
Infront of the cake shop, an beautiful old lady was selling girls stuffs like head band, earrings, ban-gles, and so many more. I stared everything on the table deliberating on what to get her just then my eyes caught a very beautiful n£¢klace with a bold s-entence SINGING VOICE.
“Ma’am I will have this” I uttered out smiling.
“You have eyes for beautiful things young man” The old complimented with a smile.*** FLASHBACK ENDS.
She has to sing some day. Denying the fact that she was blessed with a lovely voice won’t hide her talent for too long. I g-asped in my head with a sm-irk.
My phone vibr@-ted because a call c@m£ in. I took the phone and went outside. It was a call from Kaiden.
“What’s up bro” I said smiling as I found a good sp©t outside to sit.
“You’re really something Legend. I got back home an hour ago and mum told me you left for your school camping. Really Legend” Kaiden mentioned and I smiled.
“Kaiden, you got home an hour ago, it’s five minutes to midnight. Did you go clubbing with your friends? You know so well that mum and I are still recovering but you still chose to go clubbing with your friends” I nagged waving his earlier statement.
“When Mum was hospitalized, I missed a lot from school. My friends did lots of fun things without me so I’m only trying to gain back those times I missed. Wait a minute, why am I explaining myself to you like you’re my dad. Young Man don’t even try to change the topic. Why did you leave home when you know perfectly well that Mum was against it” He asked seriously and I laughed silently.
“Did Mum say that to you this night or early this morning?” I asked sarcastically.
“Hey Legend, don’t even try to pl@ywith my head here okay. Answer my freaking question” Kaiden whined.
“Mum gave me her permission and that’s why Mrs Theresa allowed me to join my friends when I got here” I explained.
“How’s that even possible but mum just told me…” He stammered and I heard as mum opened his room door.
“Legend tell Melody to visit tomorrow, I have something for her” Mum said softly in the background and I chuckled at Kaiden’s silence.
“How can Mum say two different things to me in an interval of one hour” Kaiden g-asped and I laughed.
“Stop laughing… You must be enjoying this. Mum only allowed you to go because it was Melody’s birthday so I will say it’s no big deal” He snapped ignoring the fact that Mum gave him two different expressions.
“Of course it’s a big deal.. Mum If I were in Legend’s shoes would you let me go” Kaiden whined as he opened his room door then I hung up.
“He’s really some funny dude” I chuckled and Melody joined me.
“I thought you were slee-ping” I asked staring at her.
“I couldn’t fall asleep. The thought of how you guys made my birthday a memorable one really gives me bu-tterflies and I don’t think they will be leaving anytime soon” Melody g-asped smiling and even in the little darkness, I noticed she was blu-shing.
“Did you get a call from your parents” I asked looking at her and she fixed her eyes on the ground.
“Not a single call. I guess they’re probably at the office working their bu-tt off like they always do but I got a text from dad. Happy birthday Melody, I’m sorry it’s coming late. That was what dad texted” Melody said smiling.
“Your parents are really something else. I think they’re addicted to work. Don’t worry you have me now and there’s no way I will ever forget your birthday not even in my dreams” I said softly and she grinned.
“Thank you so much Legend” She g-asped looking away.
“You said you wanted to tell me something” I asked staring at her and my alarm rang.
“Emm… I guess we will talk about that on our way going back tomorrow. It’s time for me to go to be-d” I cut in.
“You set alarm for going to be-d” She asked curiously.
“I do, it reminds to go to be-d because I find it ha-rd going to sleep if I’m stuck with something like eating, watching Netflix dramas, pla-ying video games and all that” I explained and we both chuckled.
“Alright let’s go to be-d” She added and we stood.
NEXT morning•••
We all have entered the school bus heading back to the city. I sat with Grayson at the bus.
“Oh I have unre-ad messages” I g-asped about to tap on my messaging app when Grayson held my hand.
“Legend don’t re-ad them, there’s no signal here to reply the messages so it’s only best you don’t re-ad it. I noticed you retire early yesterday, you had difficulties slee-ping like before. Is something bothering you” Grayson asked curiously and I looked away.
“I’m fine” I said in a low tone.
“You only have difficulties slee-ping if something’s on your mind. I just hope it got nothing to do with love or R0m-n-ce” Grayson shrugged and I looked at him.
“It’s nothing like that” I lied looking at Axel who was fast asleep on the other roll of seats.
I re-ad his text last night. It’s only best to act like I didn’t see it. I muttered in my mind and looked at the beautiful view.
We got to school and everyone got down from the bus. Melody was about coming out of the bus and she tripped but I caught her before she would fall to the ground with her face.
“Thank you” She uttered feeling embarr@$$ed and I sm-irked.
“You should have been careful. Stop putting us in an awkward situation” I tea-sed and she covered her face with her palms then walked away.
“Grayson let’s go” I said and turned around only to see Grayson glaring at me.
