ZODIAC CLUB**

“s-ex on the beach!” Rosa ordered, leaning against the bar.

“Coming right up,” Jerry answered. He started mixing up the drinks. “So,” He looked up at her. “are you still mad at me?”

“I don’t know.”

“Oh come on, I admit. I was wrong for saying all that. I should never have disrespected you or anyone. I’m sorry.”

“Did you just apologize?” She raised a brow at him, amused.

Jerry chuckled. “Whenever I do something wrong, I usually apologize, don’t I? Why do you look surprised now over it?”

“Because you don’t apologize. I know you, Kerry. You had rather try to defend yourself or ignore your wrongdoings.”

“Am I that bad?”

“You totally are.” She laughed. “Anyway, I hold nothing against you. I’m sorry too.”

Jeremiah frowned. “Why…are you apologizing?”

She slightly shrugged. “I should never have lashed out at you like that. You were only stating your opinion on what you think about stri-ppers and call girls. Everyone has the right to their own opinion. I should have respected that.”

“Oh, please.” He waved her off. “My opinion was completely wrong. You were only correcting me and I see nothing wrong there. Besides, now I know the difference between a stri-pper and a call girl.”

Rosalie smiled and nodded her head. “I’m glad you see it that way.”

He slides the glas-sshot of s-ex on the beach over to her. “You don’t look bright, Rosa. I thought it was because you were mad at me but now that we’ve settled our differences,” He tilted his head to the side. “it seems like there is something else bothering you.”

She let out a de-ep sigh and took a sip from the shot. “Honestly, I have a lot on my mind.”

“What is it?”

She hesitated. “I broke one of my rules.”

Jerry knitted his brows. “O…kay? I didn’t know you have some kind of rules if I’m being honest.”

She rolled her eyes. “I don’t go around telling people about my rules, Kerry. It makes total sense if you don’t know about it.”

“Yup.” He grinned. “Tell me about it then.”

“Are we that close?”

“Uh…maybe not. But we are still friends, aren’t we?”

“Whatever.” She scoffed, taking another sip of the drink. “I need someone to talk to anyway. Lexi is busy,” She nodded her head to the stage where a girl can be seen dancing on a poll in front of drunk men who wouldn’t stop showering their money on her. “But I don’t think there is a better fit to…”

“We can go outside and talk if you want,” Jerry suggested, cutting her off.

She frowned. “Can you leave the bar unattended?”

“Well, there is a reason why there are other bartenders around the club. If one isn’t available, someone else will take over.” He waved his hand at a guy who was wearing a bartender outfit. The guy approached them. “I will like to go outside for a smoke, can you take care of things here while I’m gone?”

“Sure. It’s no problem.”

Jerry smiled. “Thank you.”

Rosa chug-ged down the remaining drink and dropped the glas-sshot on the table. “Thank you.” She said to the guy who nodded his head.

“Let’s go.” Jerry held her hand and they both left the club, going outside.

OUTSIDE**

“Okay, when you said you were coming out here for a smoke, I thought it was only an excuse.” Rosa said, sitting down on a concrete bench at the back of the club.

Jerry chuckled, taking a long drag of the cigarette and then puffed out streaks of smoke. He shrugged. “I really needed to smoke. Do you mind?”

“Of course not. I didn’t know you smoke.”

He sat down beside her. “There is a lot you don’t know about me. Like my name. It’s Jerry, not Kerry. But of course, you like having things your way.”

She rolled her eyes and smiled. “You are right.”

It was silent. They could still hear the buzzing music from inside the club. But it was more endurable out there.

Jeremiah cleared his throat, exhaling smoke from his nose and mouth. “Are you going to tell me about the rule you broke now?”

She sighed and stared up at the dark sky. “I judged someone.”

“What?”

“Rule number four, never judge anybody because you don’t know what led them into taking that decision.” She recited. “All my life I didn’t know who my father was until,” She gulped. “I turned twelve. My mother forbade me from seeing him or having anything to do with him. I hated her. My mates had fathers but I was the only one different. Some of them were brave enough to ask me about my father’s whereabouts. And whenever I tell them I don’t know, they will laugh and say, ‘Rosa doesn’t know her father, isn’t that funny?’ I would cry and plead with my mother to let me see my father but she was just so adamant. I couldn’t hold it back anymore. I would curse at her and refuse to eat or talk to her. I resented her.” Her voice became shaky. “I judged her.”

Jerry put down the cigarette and stomped on it, putting off the fire. He turned all his concentration on her.

“I turned seventeen and my hatred for my mother didn’t dissipate. I would see my father at a distance staring at our house and whenever I try to go to him, my mother would stop me. She didn’t explain to me why she was doing all this and I resented her even more. I turned twenty…nothing changed aside from one thing…” She paused. “My father stopped coming to check up on us. Do you know what it feels like to grow up without a father?” Jerry was going to touch her but refrained from doing so. “I blamed my mother. I can still remember my harsh words that day, ‘Because of you, I won’t ever be able to reunite with my father. Why are you doing this to me? Why do you hate me? I will never forgive you. I hate you.’” Rosa lowered her head and started crying. “I packed my things and left the house without turning back. She kept telling me to come back but I didn’t answer. I left, Jerry. I…I was selfish and…and…mean.” She clenched her fist, digging her nails into her palm. “I ignored her calls. I cut off ties with her until I came across her best friend who told me everything.” She cried har-der , squeezing her eyes shut.

Jerry wrapped his strong arms around her, consoling her. She rested her head on his chest and continued crying.

“Shush, it’s okay.” He mumbled, stro-king her back softly.

She shook her head. “No, it’s not. I judged my mother without hearing her side of the story.” She lifted her head from his chest, more tears sli-pping down her face. “It turned out to be that my father abandoned us even before I was born. She got pregnant…told him about it…and he disappeared. He left her by herself with an unborn child. He abandoned me and I resented my mother because of a wicked man like that. I felt so ashamed of myself. I felt disgusted with myself. How could I repay her like that? How…how…”

“Come here,” Jerry embraced her. “It’s not your fault. Don’t be too ha-rd on yourself.”

“She was sick when I left and I wasn’t there for her. I left her in her most vulnerable time after all she did for me. She could have ab-orted me but she didn’t. She took care of me and all I could do in return was to hate and curse her.”

“Rosa…anyone in your shoes would have done the same. You didn’t know the full story. If you did,”

“That’s not an excuse.” She cut him off. “I should have trusted her enough to know that whatever decision she took was for my good.” She sniffled, pulling away from him once again. “Do you know…” She stared into his eyes. “I haven’t gone back to her.”

“What?”

“I am too embarra-ssed to show my face in front of her. In fact, I am not worthy of her forgiveness. I don’t deserve it. I worked my a-ss here to send the money over to her. I became a stri-pper so I could take care of her hospital bills. Hopefully, she’s okay now but I still haven’t found the courage to go to her and ask for forgiveness. I can’t…” She swallowed. “I should never have judged her.”

“So you came up with rule four because of her?”

Rosa nodded. “Yes. And I broke it today.”

“How?”

She su-cked in a de-ep breath and exhaled. “I judged Felix. He told me about some terrible things he did…he trusted me. And I judged him.”

“Do you feel bad about it?”

“Honestly, I don’t. He needed to know the truth and…and that’s exactly what I did.”

“Then fuc-k him.”

Rosa chuckled, sniffling. “What?”

“fuc-k Felix. If he did something bad and you bluntly correct him doesn’t mean you are judging him. You are only telling him the truth. And that’s okay.”

“You think?” She raised a brow, holding his gaze.

Jerry nodded. “Yes. Don’t feel bad about it. You know, I will like to have someone like you in my life…someone who is going to point out my mistakes whenever I make one. And as for your mother, I’m sure she’s waiting patiently for your return.”

Fresh tears trailed down her face and before Rosalie could stop herself, she slammed her li-ps against Jerry’s.

MIKHAIL’S BEDROOM**

Diamond successfully tucked him in bed. He was soundly asleep. After saying those words that won’t stop her heart from racing, he fell asleep as if nothing happened.

★“Diamond, you are here…”★

The words kept playing on repeat in her head.

What happened earlier? She’s yet to find an answer to that question.

Diamond sighed, staring at his face. He looked so innocent and peaceful while sleeping. No one would believe a man like that will be as cold as ice.

She turned to leave when she heard him mumbling. She quietly listened…

“Diamond…don’t…don’t leave me. Please…” Tears rolled down his face.

“What the hell?” Diamond mouthed, looking at him in confusion. Was he dreaming about her? What the hell is happening? They weren’t so close for him to dream about her or act like this.

She knelt beside him and poke his chest gently. “Boss? Are you okay? Are you dreaming about me?” She asked in a whisper.

“Diamond…” He called out again, keeping his eyes tightly closed.

“Boss, I’m here. I’m…” She let out a soft yelp when he suddenly pulled her close to his face. Her upper body was on the bed while her lower body was on the floor.

Her heartbeat accelerated. She hiccuped, her face flushed as she stared at his sleeping face with her eyes wide open.

She has never looked at him from up this close. She could see every flaw on his face. And funny enough, he had no flaws. His lashes were long, eyebrows full. His li-ps were heart-shaped. He has a sharp jawline and a well-shaped pointed nose. In other words, he was flawless. How can one be so perfect? God definitely took his time creating a man like her boss.

Slowly, his eyes fluttered open, and he look de-eply into her wide eyes.

Diamond could hear the loud beat of her heart. She was afraid that they would jump out of her body if care isn’t taken.

He leaned his face closer to hers, his li-ps almost touching hers, and then said in a mutter. “I love you…” He fell back asleep, letting go of her hand.

Diamond quickly stood up, grabbed the tray of pancakes and milk from the table, and left the room.

She left the things in the kitchen and rushed to her bedroom. She shut the door and leaned against it, breathing heavily.

★“I love you…”★ Her boss’s voice rang in her head.

She shook her head. “What the fuc-k was that all about?” Her eyes wide-ned and she let out a loud gasp. “Has he always been in love with me? Is that why he always acts cold towards me so he wouldn’t be too obvious?” She placed her palm over her chest and went to stand in front of the mirror. “I know I’m beautiful but does he really have a crush on me?”

★“Diamond, you are here…”★

★“Diamond, please don’t leave me…”★

“He loves me.” She squealed, jumping in excitement but suddenly stopped. “Wait, why am I happy? fuc-k . What is wrong with me?” She look at her reflection in the mirror and pointed at her face. “Don’t you dare fall in love with him. If he loves you then it is advantageous for you because he’s going to fuc-k you and after that, you are going to quit. You will continue with your life and it will be like this house and everyone in it never existed. Don’t ever forget why you came here in the first place, Diamond. Don’t.” She let out a de-ep breath and rearranged her hair. “Use the feelings he has for you to your advantage. Okay?” She went to lie down on the bed.

★“I love you…”★ The word played in her head and Diamond’s li-ps stretched into a big smile as she closed her eyes and fell asleep.

HOSPITAL★MORNING**

“Aria?” Lottie called out in a raspy voice, peeling her eyes open.

Aria sprang up to her feet. “Oh my, God. You are awake.”

Lottie tirelessly looked around. “Where am I?”

“You are in the hospital. Do you know how worried I was? I told you to let go of the glas-sbut you wouldn’t listen. Why do you always find a way to hurt yourself, huh?” She cried.

“I…I’m okay.”

“No, you’re not. Look at how pale you look.” She said. “Wait here, let me call the doctor.” She turned to leave but Lottie stopped her.

“I need to go home.”

“What did you just say?”

“I have to go home. Mikhail needs to know the truth. That nanny lied, I didn’t hurt her. I did nothing wrong to her. Mikhail hates me now for a crime I did not commit. I have to tell him the truth.” She struggled to stand up but felt so weak. “Aria…”

“Stop this, Lottie!” Aria snapped. “What’s your problem? You are sick and all you worry about is Mikhail?”

“Aria, I have to go_”

“You are not going anywhere. Why are you hellbent on frustrating the hell out of me? What have I ever done to you?”

Lottie gulped.

“You are going to stay here until you are okay. I don’t know the spell that man cast on you but this craziness has got to stop.” She turned and left the room in annoyance.

“She doesn’t understand. Nobody does. I am nothing without Mikhail. I will die if I don’t be with him.” Lottie cried, forcefully getting up from the bed. She felt so weak but that didn’t stop her from changing out of the hospital gown and into her earlier clothes. She staggered out of the room and left the hospital without telling her best friend.

Ca-ssANO’S MANSION★DIAMOND’S BEDROOM**

“Nanny,” Aurora entered the room. “are you ready?”

Diamond pulled her hair into a high ponytail and applied red li-pstick on her li-ps. “How do I look?”

“Hm, se-xy.”

“Thank you.”

“Are you going somewhere after dropping me off at school?” The child asked.

“Uh…not really. Why do you ask?”

“I don’t know, I’m wondering why you are looking this good.”

“You are still a kid. You won’t understand. Let’s go.” Diamond held the kid’s hand and they both stepped out of the room.

As they make their way downstairs, they sighted Mikhail and Marcello, stepping out of the office.

Aurora grinned and ran to hug her father.

“Hey, princess.” He said.

“Good morning, daddy.”

“Morning, honey. How was your night?” He asked, ki-ssing her neck.

“Awesome! Yours?”

Diamond listened closely to hear what he was going to say.

“Peaceful.” He answered.

‘Of course, not after dreaming about me.’ She thought to herself, smiling.

“You seem to be in a good mood, dad. Did you dream about me?” The child asked.

“Well…that’s a secret.” They both laughed. “Wanna grab something to eat?”

“Yes.” She nodded excitedly.

“Okay, let’s go.” He carried her in his arms and headed to Diamond’s way.

“Good morn_” Mikhail ignored the nanny and descended the stairs, Marcello trailing closely. “What just happened?” Diamond asked herself. “Did…did he just ignore me? After dreaming about me, he dares ignore me?” She narrowed her eyes, staring at his back until he disappeared inside the dining room. “Calm down, Diamond. He’s only pretending. He doesn’t want to make his love for you obvious.”

Her phone dinged, signifying a new text message.

Diamond glanced at it.

DAD: HONEY, I’M ON MY WAY TO LAS VEGAS. SEE YOU SOON.
