HOSPITAL**

Aria entered the room alongside the doctor and a nurse.

“Lottie, the doctor is_” She stopped talking when she found the bed empty. “Lottie?” She looked around.

“Where is she?” The doctor asked, looking around as well.

Aria shrugged, checking the bathroom, under the bed, and even the wardrobe. “I left her here. Where could she have gone to?”

“Nurse,” The doctor turned to look at the girl standing behind him. “Tell the securities to look around for a certain patient,” He faced Aria. “Do you have a pic of her?”

“Yes.” Aria hurriedly go throu-ghher gallery and showed it to him and the nurse. “I will come with you so I can show the securities her picture.” She said to the nurse.

“Okay, let’s go.”

Aria and the nurse left the room immediately.

Aria kept praying and hoping that her best friend didn’t do anything stupid. Because if she really went home after she asked her not to…she’s going to take her hands off Lottie’s case.

That, she promises.

DIAMOND’S ROOM**

“Calm down, girl. I think you are overthinking this thing.”

“I’m not. Dad is coming down here to talk. What do you think he wants to discuss, huh?” Diamond panicked, pacing back and forth in the room.

“Probably about Las Vegas weather?” Ayden said.

Zara gro-aned. “Can you not be stupid at a time like this, Ayden? Really?”

“Did you call me stupid?”

“Are you not one? Why will he come to Las Vegas to talk about the weather?”

“I didn’t mean_”

“You two!” Diamond yelled, interrupting Ayden. “Can you fuc-k ing concentrate?”

“Oh, yes.” Ayden and Zara said at the same time.

“Think and tell me what to do.” She said.

“There is nothing to think, Diamond. Just wait for his arrival and listen to what he has to say.” Zara said.

“Besides, your stepdad is very understanding, unlike your mother.” Ayden added.

“You two are not getting the point. I have to tell him the truth about the engagement. Won’t he be mad at me for lying?”

“Of course, he will_”

“Ayden, that doesn’t help.” Zara cut him off. She cleared her throat. “So do you want to keep lying?”

“I don’t know. I doubt mother told him the truth. She is determined to get me married to Felix. If she tells father the truth, he would stop the wedding at all costs.”

“Then tell him. This shouldn’t be confusing or complicated for you, Diamond. Tell your father the truth about that lying cheat.” Ayden stated.

“Ayden is right. You have nothing to lose. Yes, your father might be mad at you but the most important thing is telling him the truth. Who knows, he might even understand why you had to lie.”

“Even though we as your best friends don’t understand.” Ayden said throu-ghclenched teeth.

“I heard that.” Diamond gro-aned.

“Oops.” Ayden chuckled. “But it’s the truth. Zara and I don’t understand why you had to play along with that bastard’s lie and deceit. You could have told your father the damn truth without complicating things like this.”

Diamond nodded her head, sitting down at the edge of her bed. “You are right. I was so blinded by revenge.”

“Wait, did you just say revenge?” Zara asked.

“I know I didn’t tell you two and I regret it. Truth be told, I wanted revenge. Felix broke my heart into million pieces. He embarra-ssed me and betrayed the trust I had in him. And then, five years later, he showed up in front of my door with my father. I felt so stupid because I didn’t tell my parents about our break-up. He must have had it in mind that I still love him…honestly, I wanted to hurt Felix ten times worse than he hurt me. I wanted to watch him suffer and beg for forgiveness.” She sighed. “But it was a foolish decision. Just as you said Ayden, I complicated things even more.”

“I didn’t know you felt this way, sis.” Zara muttered.

“Don’t feel sad for me, Zara. I brou-ght this upon myself.”

“I swear, I will break that bastard’s legs.” Ayden growled.

“I will knock off his whole teeth and give them to him to eat.” Zara said.

Diamond laughed. “What? How is he going to eat them when he doesn’t have teeth?”

“I don’t give a fuc-k . He can simply swallow them.”

“You are so funny.” Diamond laughed again, shaking her head. “Ugh,” She stood up. “I will tell father the truth. He deserves to know about everything. I did him wrong by lying and I should correct it by telling the truth.”

“Exactly. I hope your father arrests that lying jerk.” Zara said.

“I hope he doesn’t.”

“What? Why?” Zara questioned.

Diamond shrugged. “Because it’s pointless wasting your precious time on an idiot like Felix. He is part of my past and should be treated as one. The only mistake I made was letting my past into my present.”

“I hope your father understands and doesn’t disown you.” Ayden said.

“Dad loves me so much. Disowning me is like cutting off oxygen from his lungs. I’m sure he would understand me. My only concern is that he doesn’t create a scene.”

Zara chuckled. “It’s going to be so fun watching your father scold Felix for treating you like trash and dare lie to him in the face. Diamond, can you do me a favor by recording the scene on your phone so I can watch it while eating popcorn?”

“Zara.” Diamond giggled. “Nothing of such is going to happen but hey, I will keep that in mind.”

“That’s why I love you. Muah!”

“Why is Ayden suddenly quiet?” Diamond asked no one in particular because obviously, Zara and Ayden were at different places.

“I wonder. Ayden, are you there?”

“Ayden?”

“Girls, let’s talk later. I’m kinda in the middle of something.”

The two girls heard mo-aning from where Ayden was.

“What the hell? Are you fuc-k ing Lake?” Zara bluntly asked.

“What? no! Shit, what did you girls hear?” He seem to be turning down the volume of whatever he was watching.

Diamond smirked. “You are watching p*rn by this time of the day. Are you this h*rny? You could simply…”

“Bye!” He hung up the call.

“I wonder how long he has been watching the adult film…” Zara trailed off, and she suddenly gasped. “Has he been watching it since we were having the serious conversation?”

“When you get home…ask him.”

“Bye. Let’s talk later, okay?”

“Okay, babe. Love you.”

“Love you too.”

The call disconnected.

Diamond let out a de-ep breath and stared at herself in the large wall mirror.

“You gat this, Diamond. You are brave and smart. You have everything under control. What could go wrong?”

LIVING ROOM**

Diamond descended the stairs and looked around the empty dining room.

She frowned and went inside the kitchen. She saw Paige washing the dishes.

“Hey, Paige.” Diamond called, grabbing the maid’s attention.

“Miss Chase.” Paige smiled. “Do you want to have your breakfast now?”

“Uh…no. Where is everybody?”

“By everybody, you mean…?”

“The kid and her father. I saw them going into the dining room and then I went to make an important call in my room only to return and not find them.” She explained.

Paige smiled. “The boss took Miss Aurora by himself to school.”

“What?”

“Marcello told me to inform you. It escaped my mind, sorry.”

“I don’t get it. Why will the boss take his daughter to school? isn’t that my job?”

“It’s not a new thing. The boss takes her to school sometimes, depending on his schedule.”

“Oh. I see.” Diamond sighed. “Anyway, I’m going out.”

“Now?”

“Not really. In case I don’t return when school closes…”

Paige nodded, knowing what the nanny was going to say. “I will pick Miss Aurora up from school you don’t have to worry about it.”

“Thank you.” Diamond turned to leave but stopped and faced Paige once again. “What about uhm, the kid’s aunt?”

“I honestly don’t know. She didn’t join the table this morning and I don’t think she slept in the house.”

“Hmm. I hope she’s okay.” Diamond muttered under her breath. “Alright. Thank you. I will be in my room.”

“Are you not going to have breakfast?”

“Nah. I’m not hungry.” She waved her off and left the kitchen.

HOSPITAL**

Aria entered the doctor’s office, looking so unhappy and at the same time angry.

“Did you find her?” He asked, pushing a file aside.

She sighed as she shook her head. “No. I guess she left.”

“She shouldn’t have done that. She needs more rest and_”

“It’s none of my business.” She cut him off. “Lottie is not a child. She can tell the difference between bad and good. I can’t be worrying about her when she’s…she’s being so stupid. I’ve tried my fuc-k ing best. I’ve done all I could to make it right by her. Why can’t she listen to me and let that man go? What else do I have to do to make her see that she’s fighting a lost battle?” Aria broke into tears.

The doctor got up and went to meet her. “I can see how much you worry about your best friend. You are a good person and your friend is lucky to have someone like you.” He said.

Aria shook her head, sniffling. “I don’t think she realizes that. She doesn’t even give a fuc-k about me or my emotions.” She ran the tip of her tongue over her li-ps, sighing. “I will clear up the bills. Thank you, doc.”

“You’re welcome.” He nodded and watched her leave his office.

PARKING LOT**

Aria hopped into her car and gro-aned at the back of her throat.

Why did her best friend make it her mission to frustrate the hell out of her?

How could she leave the hospital in a state like that? She could barely keep her eyes open and sit upright on the bed.

Aria pulled out her phone and dialed Lottie’s number. It rang but there was no answer. She tried the number over and over again but there still was no answer.

“Arrrrrgh!” She screamed at the top of her lungs, hitting her fist against the steering wheel. “Why is she always fuc-k ing doing this? This is not love but a freaking obsession.” She gritted her teeth in fury. “I am tired of worrying my a-ss for a girl who doesn’t give a fuc-k . I am tired of trying to make her see reasons why she has to let Mikhail go. I’m fuc-k ing tired!”

She clic-ked on the messaging app and sent a text to Lottie.

ARIA: DO WHATEVER YOU WANT. IT’S YOUR DAMN LIFE. BUT HERE IS A WORD OF ADVICE…DON’T DO ANYTHING STUPID. DON’T LOSE YOURSELF WHILE LOOKING FOR A FALSE LOVE. IT HAPPENED ONCE, REMEMBER? ANYWAY, I WISH YOU ALL THE BEST. GOOD LUCK, LOTTIE.

“I’m officially taking my hands off her case. She can do whatever she fuc-k ing wants.” She started the car and drove out of the hospital premises.

ZODIAC CLUB**

“Hey, Rosa.” Jerry called out in surprise as she walked into the club.

“Kerry…good morning.” She nervously said, avoiding his gaze.

“Good morning. What are you doing here by this time of the day?”

She shrugged. “I left my bag behind last night. I’m here to get it.”

“Oh. Just so you know, the boss is around.”

Rosa’s eyes wide-ned. “He is?”

“Yes. He came in a few minutes ago. I just thought you should know.”

“Okay. Thank you. I will quickly get my bag and leave.”

“Hmm.”

She walked away.

A few minutes later, she returned with a bag hung on her shoulder.

She approached the bar to inform Jerry that she was already leaving. He was wiping dirt off the bar when she came along.

“I’m leaving now.”

“Alright.”

“Is it your shift tonight?” She asked.

“Nope. God, I really need the break, don’t you think?”

She smiled. “Yeah.”

An uncomfortable silence fell between the both of them.

Rosa nervously rubbed her palm along her jean trouser, biting her lower li-p.

“Uhm, Rosa…”

“I should get going.” She quickly cut him off. “See you later.” She waved and left the club immediately.

“What…just happened?” Jerry asked himself in a whisper, his mouth hanging open.

Ca-ssANO’S MANSION**

Lottie entered the house and went upstairs to her bedroom

She was still feeling weak and sick but that didn’t stop her.

Her phone beeped and she glanced down at it. It was a text message from her best friend.

Lottie heaved out a de-ep breath, sitting down at the edge of the bed with her fist tightly clenched around her phone.

Indeed, it happened once…

The past was right there at the back of her head, torturing her and there is a low probability of it stopping.

She has done a lot of bad things to which she doesn’t feel remorseful.

The choices Lottie made, the things she did…they were all Diamond’s fault. If only Diamond had stayed away from Mikhail. If only she’d let her sister have the man of her dreams, maybe, just maybe, she (Diamond) would still be alive.

Lottie’s face hardened,

★“The next time you make my daughter cry again, I’m going to kill you.”★

★“Who’s got the power?”★

★“Why are you hellbent on hurting my nanny? What did she ever do to you?”★

Memories of that day flooded into her head, making her scream in anger.

She smashed her phone on the floor and watch it shatter to pieces.

Her life, dreams, and hope were gradually crashing down. The nanny is going to be a problem for her if she doesn’t take her out now. She can feel it.

“The past looks like it’s going to repeat itself. But this time around, it’s not Diamond in the picture. I won’t let that bit-ch get in my way. I lost in the past but this time around…I’m going to emerge as the winner. Mikhail is mine. If I can’t have him then no one else will. I swear.”

AIRPORT★NOON**

“Dad!” She ran towards him and they embraced.

“Oh, sweet child. How are you?”

“I’m fine. I missed you so much.”

He smiled. “I missed you more.” They pulled apart. “You look…more beautiful.”

Diamond grinned. “I’ve been eating well.”

He nodded. “I can see that.”

“Mr. Rhodes,” They heard a voice.

Diamond doesn’t need to look back to know who that was.

‘Oh, shit. What the fuc-k is Felix doing here?’ She thought to herself, looking at him as he did the bro hug with her father.

“How are you, Felix?” Rhodes asked.

“I’m fine.” He faced Diamond. “Hi, babe.”

‘This shenanigans is going to end today. Mark my word.’

“Dad,” She began, ignoring Felix completely. “I didn’t know you called him too.”

“What’s going on with the both of you? Your mother told me you don’t want to marry him again, why?”

“We could have this conversation without involving a third party.” She said.

“I needed to hear from both parties, Diamond. You are my daughter and I love you so much but Felix is also like a son to me. I don’t want to judge without hearing his side of the story.” Rhodes stated. “Let’s go somewhere else to have this discussion. An airport isn’t the best place to discuss family matters.”

ZODIAC CLUB★MIKHAIL’S OFFICE**

Boaz impatiently knocked on the door.

“Get the door.” Mikhail darkly said to Marcello.

“Yes, boss.” He bowed and went to open the door. “Boaz?” He frowned.

“Is the boss in?”

“Yes. Why?”

“I need to show him something.” Boaz waved the tablet in front of Marcello’s face.

“Is there a problem?”

“I’ve found him.”

“What’s going on over there?” Mikhail asked from where he was still seated.

“Get your a-ss in.” Marcello opened the door widely and Boaz walked in and then he closed the door.

Boaz stood in front of Mikhail, feeling subconscious and scared. That’s a normal feeling for everyone whenever they are around the boss.

“What is it?” Mikhail asked, leaning back into the cool seat.

“I’ve found him,” Boaz said, dropping the tablet on the table for Mikhail to see what he’s talking about. “He is here in Las Vegas.”

Mikhail’s eyes darkened as he stared at the red spot in the location map.

“Octavius is here in Las Vegas,” He growled, clenching his fist. He looked up to Marcello. “Find him.”
