COFFEE SHOP**

“Start talking.” Rhodes said, sipping from the coffee mug.

Felix and Diamond exchanged glances but didn’t say anything.

“Are you two going to keep quiet for the rest of the day? I came here to talk and not stare at you both faces.” He said.

Diamond let out a de-ep breath, “I don’t get why you had to invite him too, dad. This conversation was supposed to be between you and I.”

“We’ve talked about this, honey. I want to hear from both parties. You are my only daughter and I love you so much but I don’t want to be partial or do favoritism.”

She rolled her eyes.

“What is going on between the both of you?” Rhodes asked again, watching them closely.

“Dad_” Diamond began but got interrupted by Felix.

“Diamond is in love with someone else.”

“What!?” Rhodes and Diamond gasped in shock at the same time.

Felix gulped, adjusting himself on the chair and focused his attention on the elderly man seated in front of him.

“She doesn’t want to marry me because of the new guy.”

“What the hell are you talking about?” Diamond questioned, glaring at Felix.

“I am tired of the pretense, okay?” He said, looking at her. “I tried to cover up for you, Diamond. I tried to make our relationship work but you…you don’t just give a fuc-k about me. All you care about is your damn self.”

‘Is this bastard kidding me right now? How long does he plan on lying to my father’s face? What does he take him for? A fool? An idiot? I need to put an end to this shit.’ She thought to herself.

“You are a big fool.” She said, surprising not only Felix but also her father. “You know, I thought you are going to be wise enough to come clean but no, you are just greedy, dumb and useless.”

“Diamond!” Rhodes called sternly. “How can you call your fiance those names?”

“Fiance?” She scoffed.

“Don’t.” Felix murmured under his breath, staring at her. “Don’t do anything you had regret, Diamond. Your mother_”

“Are you going to threaten me now because of my mother?” She cut him off, giving him an annoyed look. “Yes, she’s in support of you and your shenanigans but guess what, I am done being a puppet. I am done being an idiot.” She narrowed her eyes. “Did you ever ask yourself why I played along with your lies and deceit?”

Felix nervously gulped, clenching his fist beneath the table.

“I guess you didn’t. Of course, what was I even expecting from a jerk like you?”

“Wait,” Rhodes cut in, looking very confused. “What is going on here?”

“Felix is a liar, dad. That’s what is going on.”

“Diamond, can we talk outside?” Felix asked.

“No. No, Felix. If you have any goddamn thing to say, then say it here. I’m sure my dad won’t mind unless you don’t want him to hear whatever bullshit you have to say.”

“Diamond, what is going on? I am very confused. Why are you saying all this to a guy you love?”

“Loved.” She corrected. “I loved him but not anymore.”

“What?”

She cleared her throat, biting her lower li-p as she prepared herself to release the bombshell.

“Felix lied.”

“Huh?” Rhodes glanced over at Felix and then faced his daughter once again. “What are you talking about?”

“We were never engaged. Felix and I broke up five years ago.”

“Oh shit.” Felix mumbled under his breath, squeezing his eyes shut as she dropped the bomb right in front of him and there’s a probability of him getting exploded alongside the bomb.

Rhodes’s face dropped immediately.

“Five years ago,” She paused. “I caught Felix making out with his best friend in a public restaurant.”

“Diamond…” Felix called, pleadingly, hoping she would keep quiet but she paid him no attention. She has made up her mind to tell the truth and she doesn’t care about the consequences.

“It turns out to be that he has been cheating on me for three years in our relationship.” She clenched her first as memories of the betray and hurt filled her heart. “Felix have been lying to my face while fuc-k ing his supposed best friend.” She lowered at him, digging her nails dee-per into her palm. “Do you know how many ways I thought of killing you? Do you know how hurt and betrayed I felt? You broke my heart into a million pieces. You shattered my love and trust for you and then five years later, you had the nerve to lie to my father about being engaged to me. Don’t you have any ounce of shame?”

Felix gulped again, his legs trembling as he kept clenching and unclenching his fist.

She sniffled and looked at her father. “I’m sorry, dad. I should have told you earlier about our break-up. And I should never have played along with his lies but truth be told, I wanted a revenge. I wanted to hurt him and make him suffer. I hate Felix so much.” She ran the tip of her tongue over her dried li-ps. “However, I came to realize that the bastard is not worth my time or my hate. And mother is so hellbent on getting us married even after I told her the truth.” She sighed. “I’m not going to marry Felix and that’s final. You deserve to know the truth and my reasons for lying as well.” She paused. “Dad, you have every right to be mad at me but believe me, I’m really sorry.”

Rhodes could barely breathe. His mouth were literally hanging open in utmost shock.

He shifted his gaze to Felix who have suddenly turned white and pale.

“My daughter has no reason to lie about something like this,” He cleared his throat. “But I’m still going to ask you…” He paused, staring intently into Felix’s eyes. “Everything she just said, are they all true?”

Felix lowered his gaze, not saying anything.

“Answer me!” Rhodes roared, grabbing the attention of the few customers and the cashier in the coffee shop. However, he didn’t care. “Did you cheat on my daughter and then lie about being engaged?”

“I’m sorry…” Felix pleaded, dropping to his knees. “I’m so sorry, sir.”

“Wow.” Rhodes breathed out, shaking his head in disappointment and anger. “You dare lie to me?”

“I’m sorry…I’m…” Felix stopped talking when Rhodes stood up from the chair and strides to where he was kneeling.

“I can’t believe I was played by an idiot.” He snarled, clutching the collars of Felix’s shirt. “Do I look so easy to you? Or a fool? An idiot?”

“N..No. I’m…I’m…”

Diamond watched her father quietly and she won’t deny the different aura that surrounded him. It was as if the man standing over there wasn’t her father, which may sound stupid. He had a dark expression on his face…she almost felt pity for Felix.

Key word; Almost.

“Come with me,” Rhodes said, stepping out of the shop, ignoring the glances from the people around.

Felix hurriedly stood up and went after him.

“Should I…Yes, I should.” Diamond abruptly stood up from the chair and ran after them.

Ca-ssANO’S MANSION**

Lottie came down from the stairs and dashed into the kitchen only to find it empty.

She gro-aned in anger and went to the maids’ quarters. She didn’t bother knocking and barged inside the room.

Evelyn was fast asleep.

“How can she be sleeping?” She aggressively hit the woman on her legs, waking her up. “Stand up, you old lady.”

Evelyn whined in pain, snapping her eyes open. “Lottie, what was the meaning of that?”

“Listen, I am not ready to have any conversation with you. I don’t give a fuc-k about you, okay? Just answer this question, where is that sick nanny?”

Evelyn frowned. “Sick nanny…?”

“Where the hell is Miss Chase? Where is she? She’s not in her room or anywhere around the house. Where did she go?”

“What is your problem, Lottie?” Evelyn got out of the bed, standing in front of the pissed young lady. “Haven’t you done enough, huh?”

“Don’t fuc-k ing provoke me, old woman. Don’t. I owe you no explanation. Just tell me where that bit-ch is. Now.”

“I don’t know.”

“What?”

“You heard me. I don’t know. You can keep looking for her around, who knows maybe you might find her.” She shrugged.

Lottie raised her hand to hit Evelyn on the face but stopped. “Don’t push me.” She breath heavily, shooting daggers at the woman. “I can be very crazy and violence so don’t push it!” She turned to leave when Evelyn suddenly said from behind,

“You are acting up again.” She stepped forward towards Lottie. “I can remember how you acted in the past when you found out about the boss and your sister. I can remember the look on your face…and in your eyes,” Evelyn shook her head. “It’s happening again.”

Lottie’s eyes were reddened and filled with anger. She have been crying inside her room until she decided to look for the nanny, the girl who’s like a bone stuck in her throat. And there are only two options; Get choked to death by the bone or get rid of it.

Diamond, her sister was also like that in the past and too bad, she (Lottie) wasn’t able to get rid of the bone.

She partly turned to look at Evelyn, balling her fist. “You of all people know why I’m here. Some thinks it’s because of Diamond’s daughter. It’s crazy. Why would I come here for her?” She smirked “Diamond stole Mikhail away from me and now that she’s gone, I want him to myself.”

“He is not an object.”

“I know. Which is why I must do everything within my power to get him to notice me. And if I have to get rid of anything that stands in my way, I will.”

“The nanny is not your problem, Lottie. She didn’t do anything wrong.”

“Are you already scared?” She tilted her head to the side. “I haven’t even done anything and you are already frightened.”

“Of course, I am. Not after what you did to your own blood sister in the past! You are crazy. You are sick, Lottie. You need help. The boss doesn’t love you when are you going to…ahh.” Evelyn screamed as Lottie pushed her very ha-rd to the ground.

“I want to hurt you, Evelyn. Even after that witch’s death, you are still standing up for her. How dare you?” She snarled. “Yes, I am crazy. I love Mikhail so much to the point that it hurts. I hurt my sister because of him and I am ready to hurt more because of him.”

“Lottie_”

“You are right. The nanny is not my problem. There is no way Mikhail will choose a girl like that over me.” She smiled. “But do you know one thing that she did wrong?” Evelyn stayed quiet. “Aurora. That little beast. As long as she loves that stupid nanny of hers…I won’t be able to get what I want. Which is why I must get her out of my way.”

“Aurora?”

Lottie laughed, waving her hand in the air. “What? Of course not. I won’t hurt my niece. Yet. However, the nanny has got to go. Since you don’t know where she is…then I will have to look around for her myself.” She turned around and walked towards the door but didn’t open it. “You know, it’s quite funny. You seem to be worried about the nanny than you are about me.” She faced the woman. “You are never going to choose me, are you?” She opened the door and left the room.

“Oh, God. She is losing her mind again. I have to tell the boss about this.” Evelyn muttered, fearfully.

LIVING ROOM**

Lottie stepped out of the maids’ quarters and sighted Mikhail ascending the stairs with a frown on his face.

“Mikhail, I have to tell him the truth.” She said to herself and immediately ran to him.

Mikhail was about to enter his office when Lottie appeared before him.

“We need to talk.” She said.

OUTSIDE THE COFFEE SHOP**

Diamond have checked the parking lot for her father and Felix but they were nowhere to be seen.

She dialed her father’s number but the call was going to voicemail.

“What is going on?” She gro-aned at the back of her throat, walking to the back of the coffee shop and that’s where she found them.

Felix was on his knees, getting beaten up by her father’s right hand man.

Her father was leaning against the wall, watching the whole scene with no emotions on his face at all. His jaw were tightly clenched, he balled his fist to the point where his knuckles turned white.

Diamond was about to get involved when she suddenly remembered something. She brou-ght out her phone and started recording the scene. But when she saw that the beating was yet to stop, she decided to get involve.

“Dad,” She stopped recording and walked up to them. “What is going on?”

“Stay away.” He said, not looking at her.

“Dad, I know you are mad. However, this is so wrong. What if someone calls the police? What if_”

“Does it look like I care?” He harshly cut her off. “This good for nothing animal hurt you. I would have overlook this if he had only lied to me or punched me in the face. But hurting you?” He shook his head. “No one dares do that and goes off freely. By the time I’m done with him, he will think twice before cheating on any lady.”

‘Isn’t my dad the best?’ Diamond smiled.

“Dad, I know you love me and I love you too. But I want you to stop. Felix is not worth all this. Please.” She looked around, hoping no one was watching them. The last thing she want was her father being escorted to the station because of a guy like Felix.

“Honey…”

“Please.” She pleaded.

Rhodes raised his hand and the man beating Felix stopped, taking a step away from him.

Felix was barely recognizable. His face was a complete mess.

Rhodes leaned closer to his face. “The next time I see you anywhere around my precious daughter, I will kill you.”

Diamond’s heart stopped beating as soon as she heard those words. Why will her father say something like that with such a serious face?

‘No, I’m sure he doesn’t mean it. He is only in the father’s protective mode.’ She said in her mind, trying to rea-ssure herself that her father doesn’t mean the word.

“She is my life. My everything. Seeing her cry is like a knife in my chest. She is my world. I am ready to do anything for her. Anything.” Felix could barely keep his eyes open. “You should be grateful to her because she just saved your life right now.” He dusted off his hands and walked away, dragging Diamond along with him.

As soon as they got to the cab, Diamond asked the question that have been bothering her.

“Would you have really killed him if I had not intervene?”

“Is there another guy I should know about?” He questioned, ignoring her question.

“N…” Her boss’s face flashed at the back of her head but she quickly shook it off. “No.”

“It took you so long to answer the simple question.” He opened the back seat of the cab. “I will be heading back to the airport now.”

“Are you not going to stay longer?”

“Nah. There is a wedding arrangement I need to put an end to.” He smiled.

“Ah, mother will be so furious.”

“I don’t care. As long as my daughter is okay…I’m okay.”

Diamond bites her bottom li-p. “Are you not mad at me? I play along with Felix and lied to you.”

“I am mad at you.” He said and her face dropped. “But anyone in your shoe would have done the same. The bastard hurt you and you wanted revenge. I get it.”

“Why are you so understanding?” She smiled, walking into his arms. “I wish you were my biological father.”

He chuckled, wrapping his arms around her body. “Who cares about DNA? You are my daughter, that’s all I know.”

Diamond giggled. “I love you, dad.”

He pressed his li-ps at the top of her head. “I love you more than life itself.”

“It’s almost time for your departure, sir.” The right hand man said, cutting throu-ghthe father and daughter moment.

“I should get going, honey.” Rhodes said, breaking the embrace.

Diamond nodded in understanding. “Okay.”

“Always be careful, you hear?”

“Hmm.”

He was about to enter the car but then said, “I wouldn’t have killed him. I would have done something much worse.”

“What?”

“Bye honey.” He entered the car and so did his right hand man. The cab driver turned on the ignition and drove off.

“What?” Diamond repeated, eyes wide opened.

Ca-ssANO’S MANSION★MIKHAIL’S OFFICE**

Mikhail picked up a drink and went to sit down.

He popped the bottle open and took a swig, looking up at the lady standing in front of him.

“What do you want to talk about?”

“I didn’t do anything to the nanny.” She said, going straight to the point.

Mikhail nodded. “I know.”

“What? You know?”

“I am not stupid. It was obvious that she was lying.” He said nonchalantly, taking another gulp from the bottle.

“Wow.” Lottie exclaimed. “You knew she was lying and yet, you did all that to me? You pushed me to the ground and yelled at me when you know fully well that I was innocent of the accusation?”

“Were you?”

“What?”

“Remember my words carefully, Lottie…”

★“The love I have for your sister is what’s keeping me from doing anything stupid. But I swear if you ever make my daughter cry again…I don’t care to know how…just consider yourself dead.”★

“You made my daughter cry, are you not guilty of that crime?”

“She cried for the wrong reasons, Mik_” He shot her a warning glare. Lottie gulped nervously. “I…I’m sorry. But it’s not my fault that she cried. The nanny lied. You need to get her fired.”

“I told you whatever you had to do to get her out, make sure you are in mutual understanding with my daughter. She’s the only one who has the power to get the nanny fired. Anyway, stop wherever shit you have up your sleeve.”

“What?”

“Don’t do anything stupid to the nanny again. Because turns out to be that whenever she’s hurt, my daughter gets hurt as well and that’s the last thing I want.”

“You are spoiling this daughter of_”

“I will mind my words if I were you.” He growled. “Since you are done talking, get the fuc-k out of my office.” He took another swig from the bottle.

A knock came on the door.

“Come in,” The door opened and Marcello walked in, holding an envelope.

Lottie took the cue to leave the office even though she wasn’t don talking.

Mikhail stood up with his hands stuffed inside his pocket. He strode towards the large glas-swindow and stared out to the swimming pool downstairs.

“Did you find him?”

“Yes, boss.”

“Oh. So he is really here in Las Vegas. After all these years, he finally showed up.” He snarled.

“Boss,”

“What is it?”

“There is something you need to see.”

“What?”

“You should see it for yourself.” Marcello opened the envelope and took out some picture and then handed it over to Mikhail.

The picture was of Octavius in a coffee shop, a girl was seated in front of him alongside a boy. Their backs were against the camera so he didn’t see the girl and the boy faces.

He frowned when he checked out the second picture. The girl’s face was still not seen but he won’t the fact that she looked quite familiar.

He moved on to the next picture and immediately, anger clouded his face.

The camera had perfectly captured her face this time around.

He had expected anything but never did he except this.

There in the picture was his daughter’s nanny embracing his worst enemy.

So all these while, there have been an enemy from within.

But the question here was…

“What’s her relationship with him?”
