DIEGO’S HOUSE★9:44PM**

“Welcome, sir.” Daria collected her boss’s briefcase.

“Thank you, Daria. How was your day?”

“It was fine. Thanks for asking.” She smiled.

Diego looked around and frowned, “Where is my wife? Is she upstairs?”

Daria shook her head. “No, sir.”

The frown on his face de-epened as confusion clouded his expression. “Really? Did she go anywhere?”

“Actually, she has been home all throu-ghthe day.” Daria answered.

“What are you saying, Daria? Where is she then?”

The maid nodded her head to the kitchen. “She is in there. She offered to cook dinner for you, sir.”

“Layla is cooking?” Diego asked in bewilderment, eyes wide open.

Daria nodded her head as a yes, smiling.

“Wow. Take my briefcase upstairs, okay?”

“Okay, sir.” She walked away.

Diego had a grin on his face as he approached the kitchen and went inside.

Indeed, Layla was preparing dinner.

“Babe?” He called, stepping closer to her.

Layla turned around to face him and smiled. “Honey, you are back.” She went on her tiptoe and pecked him on the li-ps. “How was your day?”

“It was fine but stressful. What are you doing?”

“Cooking. You’ve never had my food before, right?”

“Never. I didn’t even know you can cook.”

“Well, I can cook but hate cooking.”

“You know you don’t have to do this. Daria can_”

“Shh.” She placed her index finger over his li-ps, shutting him up. “I want to cook for my husband, is that a crime?”

“Of course not. This is new, though.”

“I know.” She sighed, wrapping her arms around his neck. “I’ve done something really bad, Diego. I’ve hurt you in ways you can’t imagine. I don’t deserve you or your love…you are too good for me.” She paused. “Cooking your meals, doing your laundry, taking care of the house isn’t going to amend my wrongdoings but trust me, I want to change. I want to be the best wife. I want to be someone that deserves your love, care, and attention.”

Diego encircled his arms around her slender waist. “I don’t know what you are talking about, Layla. And I don’t want to judge you for anything.” He pressed his li-ps on her forehead. “I love you and that’s what matters. You love me too, right?”

A tear sli-pped from her eyes. ‘My heart has always been open to Felix. I chose to be blind and not see the true love in front of me. I might not love you now but I will learn to, Diego. You are my husband, after all.’ She mentally said to herself, staring de-eply into his eyes.

“Do you love me?” Diego repeated.

She smiled and slammed her li-ps against his. Diego hesitated before ki-ssing her right back, pushing her backward until her back is pressed against the counter.

The ki-ss de-epened and the tension increased between the both of them.

Diego lifted her and placed her on the countertop. Layla immediately wrapped her legs around his torso, ki-ssing him with everything she has.

‘It’s time I let go of the false love. It’s time I let Felix go and focus on my husband. It is the only way I can protect my heart and sanity.’

She broke the ki-ss and stared into Diego’s eyes once again.

“Yes. I choose to love you.”

Ca-ssANO’S MANSION★KITCHEN**

They both held each other’s gaze for over two minutes until Mikhail came back to his senses and looked away.

Diamond subtly backed away and left the kitchen.

She shut the door behind her and leaned on it, letting out a de-ep breath.

“Why is he here? Shouldn’t he be asleep like everyone else?” She whispered to herself. “God, is this how I’m going to die of embarra-ssment? I thought dic-k s will be the cause of my death.”

She bites her lower li-p and gro-aned when her stomach grumbled again. She’s famished and will end up eating paper if care is not taken.

“But wait a minute, why am I avoiding him? I was drunk when I spilled out those sh*t. I will just have to pretend not to remember anything. Easy peasy.” She straightened her dress and walked back into the kitchen.

‘Act natural, Diamond. Natural. Keep a smile on, stand tall and everything else will fall in place. Don’t say anything about last night until he brings it up. Which I hope he doesn’t. You can do this. I believe in you.’ She thought to herself, going to grab a pack of juice and a glas-scup from the refrigerator. She dropped them on the counter.

Mikhail silently sipped from his glas-sof water whilst scrolling throu-ghhis phone. He hasn’t said a single word to her since she got in.

Diamond poured the juice into the cup and slowly looked up at her boss.

‘Why isn’t he saying anything? Does he not remember about last night? Hold on a sec, I was the one drunk and not him. Is he purposely keeping quiet about it? Does he want to fire me unexpectedly? Should I be worried? fuc-k , why am I killing myself over this? I should be glad that he isn’t bringing up the_’ Her thoughts were suddenly interrupted by her boss.

“Why is it so loud in here?” Mikhail glanced over at her. “If you’ve got what you wanted, get out. I want to be alone.”

‘Doesn’t he feel any pity for me after hearing my story? Okay, I know I am ashamed of my childhood and I don’t want anybody’s pity but…don’t he have human sympathy or emotions? How can he still be rude to me?’

Diamond cleared her throat. “I’m sorry. I will keep my THOUGHTS down,” she said, emphasizing the ‘thoughts’ “You won’t even know I’m here.”

Mikhail eyed her but didn’t say anything afterward and focused his attention back on his phone at hand.

‘what if he’s waiting for me to bring up the topic? What if he’s waiting for an explanation? Should I say something? Nah. Diamond, keep your head in the game. You don’t remember anything that transpired last night, do not forget that.’

“So um, boss,”

‘Wait, what am I doing? Why am I talking? What the fuc-k is wrong with me?

“How are you?”

‘Oh, God.’ She mentally face-palmed herself. ‘Is this how to act natural? You are literally trying to give yourself away.’

Mikhail shot up his eyebrows at her with a frown plastered on his face. “And how did we become this close?”

She gulped and scratched the nape of her neck. “Sorry. Forget I asked anything like that.”

‘It’s official. I’m going to die of shame.’ She picked up the glas-sof orange juice and took a sip. ‘It’s so uncomfortable here. I need to make pancakes but I can’t do that with him around.’ She took another gulp. ‘I guess he has forgotten about it and that’s for the best.’

Mikhail finished drinking the water, dropped the cup, and turned to leave the kitchen.

He twisted the doorknob open and was about to step out but stopped. He slowly turned back to look at her.

“About last night…” He began.

‘Oh, sh*t. He’s going to bring it up. He hasn’t forgotten. What do I do? Is this the part where I ask the ground to open up and swallow me?’

She smiled nervously. “Oh, yeah? Ah, I heard you brou-ght me back home. Thank you, sir. I hope I didn’t do anything crazy or splatter things I shouldn’t have. Because I can’t remember anything that happened last night.”

“You can’t remember?” He repeated.

She quickly nodded her head. “Yes. I was on good behavior, right? I didn’t do anything stupid?”

“You ki-ssed me.” He suddenly said.

Diamond eyes went wide immediately. ki-ss? Did she ki-ss him? How? When? Why can’t she remember that part?

She scanned throu-ghher memories but there was no scene of her ki-ssing her boss.

“I don’t think that happened. Because I can’t remember ki-ssing you.” She uttered before she could stop herself.

“Of course, you don’t. After all, you don’t remember what happened last night, or isn’t that what you said?”

‘He tricked me and I blatantly gave myself away.’

“You do remember what transpired last night.” He said, tilting his head to the side. “Why are you feigning ignorance now?”

Diamond gulped her saliva, feeling like a criminal getting interrogated by the cops.

“Uhm…” She sighed. “I was drunk and….can you please forget everything I said?”

“How can I? I have a very retentive memory.” He stuffed his hands into his pan-ts pocket. “I told you to kill whatever attraction you have for me, didn’t I?”

“I’m trying to…” She said in a mutter, lowering her gaze. ‘Wait, why am I feeling so small in front of him? He knows about my childhood past and the fact that I accepted the job because of him…So?’ She said in her head and lifted her gaze. “Are you going to fire me now?” She asked, surprising Mikhail but he didn’t show any emotions.

The once embarra-ssed and insecure girl was gone and instantly the crazy and fearless nanny of his daughter is back.

“What did you say?”

“You know I accepted to work as your daughter’s nanny because of you. What are you going to do about it? Fire me? Or better still, kill me?” She crossed her arms over her chest.

Mikhail stepped up to her. “If you were going to act like this, why did you spend your day hiding behind the closed door of your room?” She had nothing to say about that so she stayed quiet. “Do you know how much I want to fire you? I bet you don’t because if you do, you would have quit by yourself.”

“I am not one to accept defeat.” She said.

“I will never fuc-k you, get that into your damn head.”

“Never say never.” She smirked.

In a flash, Mikhail had his hand wrapped around her neck. “If you think I will ever get in between your hole, think again because that is never going to happen.”

She ran the tip of her tongue over her li-ps, seductively. Mikhail’s gaze fell upon her pink plumpy li-ps which made Diamond feel bolder because she knew she had him right where she wanted. She mo-an-ed lightly and pressed her bre*st against his chest.

“We will see about that, boss.” She placed her hand over his hand holding her neck and grinned. “The next time we are going to be in this position…It will be you pressing me against the wall as you pound into my hole furiously. Mark my word, sir.”

Mikhail’s face hardened and he felt the sudden urge to wipe that smirk out of her face.

Her words weren’t what angered him but the effect they had on him.

If care isn’t taken, he might succu-mb to her seduction.

Mikhail unwrapped his hand around her neck and took a step back. “Just pray dearly that Aurora’s likeness for you doesn’t fade away. Because when it does, you know what’s going happen next.”

“I will keep that in mind.” Diamond said, confidently.

The boss turned around and walked to the door, he opened it and then said the next words that shocked the hell out of the nanny.

“Never see yourself as a product of ra-pe. No one is born out of a mistake. If your mother never wanted you, she would have taken you out in the most easier way possible.” He partly turned to look at her. “She wanted you in the first place and that’s why she had you.” He stormed out of the kitchen afterward.

Diamond’s jaw was almost touching the ground as she stared into space in complete shock.

“What just happened?” She asked herself in a low voice, blinking severally.

KITCHEN★MORNING**

“Good morning, Evelyn!” Diamond greeted, cheerfully as she entered the kitchen.

“Good morning, dear. You seem to be in a good mood.”

“Yeah. I had the best night.” She said.

“I can see.”

Diamond looked around. “Where is Paige?”

“In the garden, I guess.”

“Okay.”

Diamond left the kitchen, skipping, excitedly.

Mikhail’s last words kept replaying at the back of her head.

★“Never see yourself as a product of ra-pe. No one is born out of a mistake.”★

Those were the nicest word anyone have ever told her.

She wishes someone had said the exact words to four years old her. She would have held on to the little hope and kindness.

How can a cold man like her boss say such warm and sweet words to her?

It’s funny how a few minutes ago he was about to pull out her throat and in the next minute, he said the kindest words ever.

She might have felt embarra-ssed when she told him about her childhood past but de-ep down, she’s glad that she did.

He didn’t pity her as most people would. He didn’t treat her any nicer simply because her life story touched him. He was still cold and mean towards her but even at that, his words were the soothing pills she needed.

Diamond’s thoughts got interrupted when she suddenly bumped into someone.

She staggered back and prevented herself from falling.

“Are you blind!?” An angry voice roared. “How dare you walk into me like that, huh?”

“Will you shut up?” Diamond retorted. “We are both at fault here so why are you pushing the blame on me? You weren’t blind not to step out of the way.”

“Don’t you ever in your cla-ssless life speak to me in a such manner again! How are you?” Lottie snarled, shooting daggers at the nanny.

“I told you to always stay off my path, didn’t I?”

Lottie smirked deviously as she sighted Mikhail coming from behind Diamond.

“That should be my line. And now that you’ve crossed my path…get ready to face the repercussion.” She plopped on the floor and started crying. “Please let me go. What did I ever do to you? Why do you want to make life a living hell for me?” Lottie cried. “All I want is to spend time with my niece, is that a crime? I want to fulfill the wishes of my late sister, why wouldn’t you let me?” She cried har-der , waiting patiently for Mikhail to notice them.

Diamond stared at the girl in bewilderment, wondering what was going on. She looked around and caught sight of the boss.

“Wait a minute,” She faces Lottie once again as realization hit her. “You are trying to frame me.”

Lottie looked up at her and smirked. “You will leave this house one way or the other, nanny. Just watch and see how I’m going to make this place a living hell for you. I am the sister to his beloved late wife and you are just a nanny to his daughter. Let’s see who’s got the power, bit-ch .” She started crying once again. “Please stop hurting me.”

At that moment, Diamond saw Aurora walking towards them.

‘Two can play this game…’ She thought to herself and likewise fell on her knees, surprising Lottie in the process.

“What are you doing?” Lottie asked in a quiet voice.

“Let’s see who’s got the power, Miss Lottie.” She smirked and cleared her throat. “I’M SORRY, MISS LOTTIE. I DIDN’T MEAN TO UPSET YOU. I JUST LOVE THE KID SO MUCH AND CAN’T SEEM TO STAY AWAY FROM HER. I’M SO SORRY. PLEASE.” She said at the top of her voice, immediately grabbing the attention of Aurora and Mikhail.

“Nanny!” Aurora rushed towards them and wrapped her tiny arms around Diamond. “Nanny, what’s going on? Why are you crying? What happened?”

“Beg your aunt for me, please. She wants to get me fired.” The nanny pleaded, crying.

Lottie gape at her in shock, not believing what’s happening.

“Why do you keep hurting my nanny? What did she ever do to you?” Aurora also started crying, hugging her nanny to her chest. “You have no right to fire her.”

Mikhail stormed towards them. “Princess, why are you crying?”

“Aunt Lottie is hurting my nanny. I don’t know why.” She cried.

Lottie shook her head. “I swear I didn’t hurt her. She’s pretending.”

“Can’t you see she’s crying? How can she be pretending?” Aurora asked.

“Believe me I didn’t_”

“Shut up!” Mikhail growled. “Didn’t I warn you not to do anything stupid in this house? How dare you make my daughter cry?”

Lottie slowly stood up. “I…I swear…I…I…”

Mikhail rou-ghly grasped hold of her arm, staring at her dangerously. “The love I have for your sister is what’s keeping me from doing anything stupid. But I swear if you ever make my daughter cry again…I don’t care to know how…just consider yourself dead.” He pushed Lottie and she fell with her a-ss on the floor.

“Nanny…” Aurora cried. “Please stop crying. No one is getting you fired, I promise.”

“Princess, stand up.” Mikhail said to his daughter.

Aurora obeyed and stood up. “Nanny, can you stand up?”

‘Let’s spice this up a little bit, shall we?’ Diamond thought to herself.

She vigorously shook her head. “I…I can’t. My legs hurt. I’ve been kneeling for the past thirty minutes.” She said.

Aurora shot daggers at her aunt and looked up at her father.

“Daddy, can you please help my nanny? She can’t walk by herself.”

“Marcello will take her to _”

“No. I want you to do it. Marcello is nowhere around. I can’t bear to watch my nanny still on her knees.”

Mikhail gro-aned mentally before scooping the nanny into his arms. She quickly wrapped her arms around his neck.

“I can’t believe I’m doing this…” He mumbled under his breath and started walking upstairs.

Lottie stared after them in shock.

Diamond discreetly took a peek at the shocked lady.

“who’s got the power?” She mouthed and then winked before resting her head back on Mikhail’s shoulder.

Lottie clenched her fist in anger.
