LOTTIE’S ROOM**

“Arrrrrgh!” Lottie screamed and started crashing down everything on the dressing table. She grabbed the standing mirror and slammed it on the floor, the glas-sshattered into million pieces, flying everywhere. A piece flew past Lottie’s face and cut throu-ghher right cheekbone. She didn’t flinch from the impact.

“How dare her?” She rumbled, picking up a piece of glas-sfrom the floor and gripping it tightly in her left hand, it pierced into her palm and blood started gushing out. However, the bleeding was the least of her problem.

Lottie was beyond angry. She felt like tearing the whole world apart. She felt the urge to ruin the nanny and the little girl in so many ways.

They embarra-ssed her and made her look like a big fool. Because of them, Mikhail hurt her.

She had a hostile glare on her face with her li-ps curled.

She could still see the look of victory on the nanny’s face when Mikhail carried her in his arms.

“Arrrrrgh!” Lottie screamed again, tightening her left fist and in the process, driving the piece of glas-sdee-per into her palm.

“I want her out of this house. I hate that nanny. I hate that child. I want them out!” She growled, crying her eyes out.

Her phone started ringing, pulling her back to reality.

She sniffled and glared at the annoying piece of device, she thought about ignoring the call but the ringing wouldn’t just stop. She angrily snatched the phone with her other hand from the bed and answered the call.

“Hello, dear. How are you do_” Aria’s cheerful voice was cut off.

“Aria,” Lottie called out in a weak voice.

“Lottie? What’s wrong? Why do you sound like this? Are you crying?”

“It’s happening…”

“What?”

“It’s happening…I…I…” Her breathing became heavy and she began to gasp for air.

“Oh my, God. Tell me it’s not what I think it is. You know what, I’m coming over. I’m…”

“No.” Lottie cut her off, pulling herself together. “I will come over. Just…wait there.” She hung up the call.

DIAMOND’S ROOM**

‘When are they going to leave? I’ve been lying down here for the past twenty minutes. fuc-k , I need to stretch my legs and muscles.’ Diamond thought to herself, keeping her eyes tightly closed. ‘I think I’m going to become stiff if I remain on this bed.

“Stop crying, princess. Your nanny is okay.” Mikhail said for the hundredth time.

“Look at how pale she looks. Why does aunt hate her so much?” Aurora asked.

Diamond was lying on the bed with her eyes closed. In their belief, she was fast asleep. But little did they know…

“I promise you that nothing like this will repeat itself. Your aunt won’t come anywhere close to your nanny, you hear?”

“Daddy,” Aurora stood up from the bed, “can you promise me something?”

“Sure. Anything for you, my princess.” He crouched down to her level. “Just say the word and it will be done.”

“Promise me that you will protect my nanny just as you always protect me.”

Mikhail’s face dropped. “What?”

The child grasped his hands and held them in between her tiny ones. “I love my nanny so much. She might not like kids but she always makes me feel comfortable, happy, and healthy. She is like the mother I never get to have.”

“Princess, she’s not your mother.” Mikhail said sharply.

Aurora nodded her head. “I know. Do you know how I met her?”

“Princ_”

“She saved my life, daddy.” She cut him off. “I would have been dead if it wasn’t because of my nanny. I owe her my life.”

Mikhail su-cked in a sharp breath, clenching his jaw. The thought of losing his daughter scares the shit out of him. “Anyone would have saved you,” He was rea-ssuring himself more than he was rea-ssuring the child.

If the nanny had not saved his daughter, would he have truly lost her?

“Maybe. But, no one did. She risked her life for a stranger. She risked her life for me, daddy. Seeing her in pain just now breaks my heart.” She started crying over again. “You love me, don’t you?”

Mikhail ran the tip of his tongue over his li-ps. The nanny got his precious daughter wrapped around her finger.

“Of course, I do.” He nodded.

“Then do it for me. Protect my nanny and do not make anyone threaten her with her job again.” She pouted.

“But…” Mikhail gro-aned at the back of his head. How can his daughter ask him of such a difficult promise? She wants him to protect her nanny when in reality he’s the one who wants to end her lifetime most. “She hates kids, you know that, right?”

Aurora nodded her head. “And that’s why I like her. Most of the nannies who worked here left without saying goodbyes. I don’t know if it’s because they hated me or not. But with her,” She turned to face sleeping Diamond on the bed. “If she leaves today, I will know one thing for sure…she didn’t leave before she hates me.” She smiled. “Because if that’s the case, she would have left long before now.”

Mikhail clenched his jaw as he remembered the nanny’s drunk words.

★“I accepted the job because of him and not his kid. Shh, don’t tell anyone.”★

How would his daughter feel if she gets to know the truth? He wondered.

“I really like her and can’t bear to watch her go.” Aurora muttered under her breath. “Do you promise me, daddy?” She looked up at him again.

Mikhail hesitated before letting out a sigh of defeat. “Okay.”

“Promise me.” She insisted.

“I promise. Are you happy now?”

“Yay!” She squealed and jumped into his strong arms. “Thank you so much. I love you!”

He smiled and ki-ssed her cheek. “I love you more. Let’s go have something to eat for breakfast.”

She shook her head. “No. I want to stay with her.”

“You can come back here after having breakfast, okay?”

She thought about it for a few seconds before nodding her head, “Okay.”

Mikhail held her hand and they both left the room.

As soon as she heard the sound of the door closing, Diamond jolted straight up on the bed.

“Why did the kid have to say all those things? Why does she love me so much? Now I feel so awful.” She pouted. “But come to think of it, she just made my work so much easier. Her father won’t threaten me with my job again and to top it off, he will have to protect me from that bit-ch . Not like I even need his protection, I can handle that doll myself. But still, I got him under control now.” She grinned and fell back on the bed. “Oh, my. I love this kid.”

KITCHEN**

A maid rushed inside, smiling broadly.

“Big news!” She screamed, grabbing the attention of Evelyn and Paige.

“Big news?” Evelyn repeated.

“What happened?” Paige added.

“The boss almost hit Miss Lottie for the sake of the nanny.”

“What?” Evelyn and Paige gasped in shock at the same time.

Another maid ran inside the kitchen. “It’s a lie. The boss didn’t hit Miss Lottie.”

“Did I say he did? I said, he almost.” The first maid rolled her eyes.

“Wait,” Evelyn cleared her throat. “I don’t get what you two are saying. The boss did what?”

“Here is what happened…” The second maid began,

“Shut up. I will do the talking.” The first maid cut her off. “This is how it all happened…”

She told them everything that took place earlier ago from the beginning to the end. She even added extra scenes that didn’t happen but the second maid was there to correct them. By the time they were done, Evelyn and Paige had their mouths wide open.

“You mean all those things happened and I didn’t know?” The woman asked.

“Yes.” Both maids nodded.

“Oh my, goodness. How could Miss Lottie do a thing like that?”

“Why do you sound surprised, Evelyn?” Paige asked. “We all know how she is. She treats every one of us like trash. She has no single respect for anybody. I’m glad she was put in her place for hurting Miss Chase.”

“You needed to have seen the poor nanny, she was so much in pain. I felt for her.” The second maid shook her head in pity.

“And can you imagine, Miss Lottie almost denied it? She claimed Miss Chase is lying. How can that be possible when the lady was crying her eyes out?”

“I know, right?” The second maid agreed.

“I hope Miss Chase is alright.” Evelyn sighed.

“We don’t know about that. The boss and Miss Aurora took her to her room. While Miss Lottie left the house a few minutes ago.” The first maid said.

“Wait a minute,” Evelyn frowned, staring between the two maidens. “How did you both know all of these?”

They both gulped and smiled awkwardly.

“Huh?”

“Didn’t I ask you,” She nodded her head to the first maid. “to clean the dining room? And you,” she faced the other maid. “I asked you to mop the floors. Did you leave all that to eavesdrop?”

“What? Of course not. We were doing our a-ssigned duties while listening…” The first maid mumbled, lowering her gaze.

“I don’t know what to say to the both of you. Just leave.” Evelyn dismissed.

“Okay.” They both rushed out of the kitchen before they get another scolding.

“Thanks for the gist. I appreciate it!” Paige said at the top of her voice but the two girls were already gone.

“It is stories like this you love to hear. Such a gossip you are.”

“You want to tell me you didn’t enjoy the gossip?” Paige wiggled her brows, smirking.

Evelyn had a ghost smile on her face. “Shut up.” She grabbed a tray from the countertop. “We should get this to the dining before the boss and Aurora comes downstairs for breakfast.”

FELIX’S PLACE**

Felix chug-ged the shot of vodka at once and hissed as it burned his throat.

It was too early to be drinking but he doesn’t give a fuc-k about that.

★“I can’t believe I’ve been fuc-k ing a man like you. Get out of my house and never show your face here again!”★

Layla’s words kept playing on repeat in his head.

Why do her words have so much effect on him?

Why was he suddenly scared of losing her? Aside from the fact that they were best friends and shared a special relationship…it was just meaningless s-ex.

So, what are these strange feelings?

There was a gentle knock on the door, grabbing his attention.

Felix gro-aned at the back of his throat and stood up from the ground, staggering his way to the front door.

“Who’s there?” He slurred.

“It’s me. Rosalie.”

“Oh.” He smiled and unlocked the door open. “Oh, baby.” He attempted to hug her but she pushed him away.

Rosa scrunched up her nose in disgust. “What the fuc-k , Felix? You fuc-k ing reek of alcohol Why the hell are you drinking by this time of the day?” She shut the door behind her, stepping inside the house.

Felix grinned like an idiot and waved. “Hi, Rosa. It’s nice to meet you.”

“Did you call me over for this shit?”

He shook his head dramatically. “Of course, not. I called so you could see my handsome face. Or am I not handsome?”

“Why the hell are you drinking?” She dropped her bag on the couch. “Are you okay?”

“I am heartbroken, baby. The world seems to be against me.” He plopped to the ground. “Why me? My fiancee doesn’t want to get married to me and my best friend doesn’t want to have anything to do with me again. I am alone in this big world.”

Rosa crossed her arms over her chest and tilted her head to the side. “I don’t know what all this is all about but you need to get your shit together.” She grabbed the bottle of vodka from the floor and went inside the kitchen. “I should be in my house, sleeping peacefully but here I am taking care of a freaking drunk man.”

Felix followed her from behind and entered the kitchen as well. “Where is the drunk man? Do I know him?”

Rosa blankly stared at him and then shook her head. “I hope you remember your foolishness when you come back to your senses.”

Felix smiled and nodded his head. “I hope so too.”

ARIA’S HOUSE**

“You were fuc-k ing right!” Lottie snarled as soon as she entered the house. “Why didn’t I think of the possibility of a third party? Why did I make stupid a-ssumptions that everything is going to be in my favor? I’m so stupid.”

“Lottie, please seat and calm down.”

Lottie shook her head vigorously and started pacing back and forth in the living room. “I can’t. I can’t calm down, Aria. My thoughts are spinning in circles. I am confused. I am_”

“Oh my, God. Lottie.” Aria gasped, holding her best friend’s clenched bleeding fist to her face. “What the hell happened to your hand?”

Lottie blankly stared at it without doing anything.

“Unclench your fist,” Aria instructed but Lottie didn’t answer. “Unclench your fist, Lottie. Please.”

“Does this look important to you?” She yanked her hand from Aria’s grip. “I am about to lose Mikhail to a common nanny, Aria. I am losing my mind about it. fuc-k .”

“Is that what’s important?” Aria snapped. “You are bleeding from your cheekbone and hand but what, you are concerned about freaking Mikhail? Can you get your head straight, Lottie? What the fuc-k is wrong with you?”

“You want me to get my head straight?” She raised a brow. “Then give me Mikhail. Give him to me! He’s the only one that can ease my pain. I lost him once, I don’t want to lose him again.”

“When are you going to fuc-k ing wake up!? I am sick and tired of your crazy love for Mikhail. This man doesn’t give a fuc-k about you. When are you going to realize this and move on?”

Lottie shook her head, fresh tears sli-pping from her eyes. “No. Mikhail loves me. He is just confused at the moment. He loves me.”

“LOTTIE,” Aria yelled, holding back her tears. “Stop doing this to yourself. Don’t let what happened years ago repeat itself. Please.”

“NO!” Lottie screamed and stomped her feet on the ground. “Mikhail loves me. I know he does. Stop saying he doesn’t.” She cried.

“Lottie, get a hold of yourself and listen to me. I beg of you.”

“No. I don’t want to hear what you have to say. You don’t fuc-k ing know what you are talking about. You don’t…” She sobbed har-der , clutching her bleeding once again, squeezing out blood.

Aria stared down at it. “Stop what you are doing. You are hurting yourself.”

“Mikhail loves me. He loves me. Yes, he loves me.” She repeatedly said, ignoring Aria completely.

Aria watched her best friend suffer and she couldn’t help but cry.

“Mikhail loves me…” Her breathing became shallow and she began to gasp for air. “He…He…loves…loves…m…”

“Lottie, where are your pills?”

“I…I…” She dropped to the ground.

“Where are your damn pills!?” She yelled, going throu-ghLottie’s handbag. “You didn’t bring them. Oh, God. Take a de-ep breath, Lottie. Listen to me…”

“He loves….” She wheezes, clutching her chest with her other hand. “He…” She dropped unconscious.

“Lottie!”
