Ca-ssANO’S MANSION★MORNING**

Diamond eyes fluttered open. She stretched her body and yawned loudly whilst looking around.

‘Am I…home?’ She wondered, sitting upright on the bed.

The last thing she can remember was walking into a club and ordering a bottle of tequila.

She got out of bed and made her way to the bathroom when someone stormed into her bedroom without even knocking.

Diamond wide-ned her eyes and stared at the intruder in shock.

“There is a reason why there’s a damn door, kid.” She said.

“Where were you yesterday?” Aurora asked, ignoring her nanny’s words.

“What?”

“Do you know how worried I was? Neither Evelyn nor Paige had your phone number.”

“Can you calm down? I’m home now, aren’t I?”

“All thanks to daddy. If he hadn’t brou-ght you home, I wonder what would have happened to you.”

“Yeah…wait, what?” Diamond leaned closer to the child. “What did you just say?”

“Uh…I was worried about you?”

“No, not that. Your last words.”

“Uhm…” Aurora paused. “If my dad hadn’t brou-ght you home, I wonder what_”

“YOUR FATHER Brou-ghT ME HOME!?” Diamond yelled, startling the kid.

“Jesus.” Aurora jumped backward, placing her palm over her chest. “You don’t have to scream.”

“Wait…this doesn’t make sense. Why will the boss bring me back home? Did…” Her mouth dropped open when the memories started trooping in.

★FLASHBACK★

“Hi, handsome.”

“What are you doing here?”

“Don’t ask me questions, you are not my boss. Although, you look quite familiar, do I know you?”

“I want to have fun. Tell me, when last did you fuc-k a beautiful woman like me?”

“Don’t touch me.”

“What, are you playing ha-rd to get? Or is it because I’m a product of ra-pe?”

“Do you want to hear a story? A story of a girl named Diamond Chase. Oh wait, I am Diamond Chase.”

“I’ve always wanted my mother dead….”

“It’s okay if you don’t want to fuc-k me, I get it.”

“You look like my boss. Speaking of my boss, he doesn’t know I have a huge crush on him.”

“I have a confession to make, I got the job because of my boss and not his kid. Shhh, don’t tell anyone.”

★END OF FLASHBACK★

Diamond plopped to the floor, looking like she had just seen a ghost.

“Nanny, are you okay?” Aurora asked, narrowing her eyes.

Diamond shook her head as a no, still looking lost.

“Are you hurt? Did something happen to you? Should I call my daddy over to_”

“NO!” Diamond cut her off immediately, startling the kid once again.

“What’s going on?”

“Listen, kid, I think I’m going to die.”

“What?”

“Come close,” Aurora quickly come to stand in front of her nanny. Diamond wrapped her arms around the child and say, “You love me, right?”

“Yes.”

“Now is the time for you to show me how much you love me.”

“What do you mean?”

Diamond hesitated. “Save me from this shame.”

BFF’S APARTMENT**

“Have she picked?” Ayden asked.

“Not yet. Do you think she got home safely?

“How would I know? I just hope she didn’t go to a bar or club to drink and fuc-k some random dude.” He said.

Zara dialed Diamond’s number again but there was still no reply.

“It’s quite unfortunate that we do not know her place of work.” She gro-aned in agitation.

“I know, right?”

“What do we do now? She’s not answering and I need to be certain that she’s okay.”

“I swear I hate that woman.” Ayden growled, clenching his fist. “She doesn’t deserve to be called a mother at all.”

“She keeps blaming Diamond for the ra-pe. How is it her fault? Did she choose to be born? Instead of her looking for the bastard that ra-ped her, she’s there torturing an innocent person.”

“I just can’t imagine what Diamond went throu-ghas a child. She must have been treated so badly by the woman she calls mother.”

“Believe me, I wanted to come out here and give her a piece of my mind. But I know Diamond wouldn’t want that.”

Ayden nodded. “She will be so embarra-ssed if she knows that we heard every word of her mother.”

“Yeah. And that’s what held me back.” Zara sighed and dropped her phone on the center table. “I need to get ready for work.”

“Hmm. I will keep trying her number.”

“Okay.” She went upstairs.

Ca-ssANO’S MANSION★KITCHEN**

Diamond entered the kitchen, yawning.

“Good morning, Miss Chase.” Evelyn greeted.

“Good morning, Evelyn.”

“How do you feel now?”

“Like my head is going to explode.”

Evelyn chuckled. “You should never have gotten drunk. What happened?”

Diamond sighed, ma-ssaging her temple. “I had a very rou-ghday. However, the drinks I had isn’t the cause of my headache.”

“Oh, really? Then what is?”

“I did something terrible last night.”

Evelyn curiously drew closer to the nanny. “Speak to me, what did you do?”

Diamond sighed and leaned against the counter, remembering the words once again.

★“I am a product of ra-pe.”★

★“I have a confession to make, I took the job because of my boss and not his kid.”★

“Oh, God.” She faces palmed herself.

“What is it?” Evelyn urges the nanny to spill the beans. Her curiosity was getting the better part of her.

“If I tell you about it, you will only tell me one word, and trust me it won’t be helpful.”

“Which word?”

“You are dead.” Diamond answered and poured herself a glas-sof water. “But don’t worry, I will survive. I always do.”

‘I can’t believe I told him about my dark past. What is he going to think of me now? Will he ever want to fuc-k me? What am I even thinking? I’m sure he will get me fired sooner or later.’ She bites her lower li-p and took a sip of the water.

“I hope whatever you did doesn’t involve the boss, Miss Chase.” Evelyn mumbled and focused on stirring the soup in the pot.

“You’ve just made it worse.” Diamond gro-aned and stepped out of the kitchen.

She sighted Marcello and the boss coming out from his office.

“No, I can’t let him see me. I’m too embarra-ssed to face him.” She looked around and immediately rushed into the maids’ quarter.

She slammed the door shut and pressed her back on it, biting her li-ps very hard.

“What are you doing?” Paige’s voice interrupted her, frightening her in the process.

“Oh, fuc-k .” She hissed. “Why are you here?”

“Okay, that should be my line. What are you doing here, looking like one who committed a crime.”

“Is it that obvious?”

“Wait, did you commit a crime?”

“I should never get drunk again. Never.”

“What did you do?”

“Is it true that the boss brou-ght me home last night?” She hoped for Paige to say ‘The boss? Hell no. Why would he do that? He left you by the roadside to die.’ She hoped those memories were mere nightmares.

Paige slowly nodded her head. “Yes. You remembered?”

Diamond took a step back, smiling like an idiot.

“What is wrong with you?” The maid asked, giving Diamond a perplexed look.

“I feel so ashamed of myself. Gosh. How do I even face him now?”

“What did you do?” Paige asked again.

“I can’t…I can’t say the words. Can you do me a favor?”

“What is it?”

“Check if the boss is anywhere around the living room.”

“And if he is?”

“I will remain in here for the rest of the day.”

“What exactly did you do to him?”

“You won’t understand. Just go.”

Paige sighed and left the quarters. A few minutes later she returned.

“I only saw Marcello.”

“Did you ask where the boss is?”

“Yeah. he said the boss is in his bedroom. Why are you trying to avoid the boss? Tell me what happened last night? Did you puke on him?”

“Did I? I don’t remember.” Diamond ran her fingers over her hair and let out a de-ep breath. “I should go to my room before the boss comes out of his bedroom.” She twisted the doorknob open and was about to step out when Paige said,

“You know you can’t avoid him forever, right?”

“I will keep avoiding him until I’m ready to face my shame.” She rushed out of the room.

*****

FORTY MINUTES LATER;

Diamond already had her bath and has been locked up in her bedroom.

She snatched her phone from the bed and saw that she has fifteen missed calls from her best friends.

“I’m sure they are worried sick about me.” She said in a mutter and dialed Zara’s number, it rang for a while, and on the third ring, it was answered.

“Oh my, Gosh. Finally!”

“Hi, bit-ch .”

“Judging by your greeting, you must be fine.”

“Mm-hmm. Yesterday was uhm…sh*t.”

“Yeah. I know. I’m glad you got home safely.”

“Yeah…” Diamond paused. “So um, did you and Ayden hear mother and I’s conversation?”

Zara knew exactly why her friend was asking her that question. She wants to know whether to be embarra-ssed to face them or not.

“No. Why do you ask?”

‘She’s lying.’ Diamond thought to herself, frowning a bit. She cleared her throat. “Nothing. I was only curious.”

“Hmm. I’m at work right now, let’s talk later, okay?”

“Sure.” She hung up the call.

There was a knock on the door.

“Yes?”

The door opened and Aurora came inside.

“Ah, thank God you knocked this time around.”

“I’m sorry for barging in on you this morning. I am well-mannered but I was so pissed at you.”

“Hmm. What do you want?”

“I came to tell you that breakfast is ready.”

“Oh. Okay.” She was about to get up but stopped. “What about your daddy? Is he going to join us?”

“Uh…I think so?”

“Oh no.” She thought of a plan for a few seconds. You promised to save the nanny from shame, right?”

“Yes.”

“You will have to go to your daddy and convince him not to join us for breakfast, can you do that?”

Aurora frowned. “Why? Didn’t you say it isn’t good that he doesn’t join us?”

“Did I?” Diamond chuckled nervously. “Forget I said that for now and do as I say.”

The kid hesitated before nodding her head. “Okay.”

“Good girl. Now, run along.”

Aurora left the bedroom.

“Why did I have to go spill that nonsense to him? I told him about my most darkest and embarra-ssing childhood. What is he going to think of me now? How will he look at me? God. I shouldn’t have gotten drunk.”

*****

MIKHAIL’S BEDROOM**

Aurora barged in without knocking as usual.

Mikhail was going throu-gha docu-ment when he felt his daughter’s presence. He shut the docu-ment closed and look up at her.

“Hey, princess.”

“Daddy.” She tiptoed and ki-ssed him on his cheek. “How are you?”

Mikhail smiled. “Daddy is doing fine.”

“I can see.” She nodded. “So, are you going to join us for breakfast this morning?”

“Isn’t that what you want?”

“Well, you can stay back if you want, I don’t mind.”

“Really?”

“Yes. You don’t have to join us this morning.”

Mikhail pursed his li-ps and smirked. “This is a trap, isn’t it?”

“What? No!”

“I am going to join you for breakfast, okay? So don’t worry.”

“You can stay back if you want.” She offered again.

“I don’t want to stay back unless you do not want to eat with daddy.” He feigned sadness.

“Of course, I want to eat with you.” She smiled. “Anyway, breakfast is ready.”

“Okay. I will be coming right away.”

“Alright.” She walked out of the room.

*****

DIAMOND’S BEDROOM**

“Nanny.” Aurora quickly knocked and entered.

“What did he say? He won’t be joining us, right?”

“He will. I’m sorry I tried to stop him.”

“Sh*t!” She lay down on the bed, gro-aning. “I’m hungry.”

“Breakfast_”

“I can’t come downstairs if your daddy is going to be there.”

“Why not?”

“It is not for your age to know why. Just go.”

“What if daddy asks after you, what should I say?”

“Tell him I’m dead.” She pulled the covers over her head and buried her face in the pillow.

“Okay?” Aurora answered uncertainly and left the room.

“I hate my life!” Diamond whined.

*****

RHODES’S MANSION★MEXICO**

Elodie and Rhodes were in the dining room, eating in complete silence.

Rhodes took a small bite from the fried chicken and cleared his throat. “You didn’t tell me how the trip went?”

Elodie did a tongue roll and shrugged. “Not bad.”

“Not bad?” He repeated. “That doesn’t sound good.”

“Well, turns out Diamond is so busy to care about Felix or their relationship. I’m not surprised, though.”

“What do you mean?”

“She doesn’t want to get married to him, that’s what I’m trying to say. Can you imagine?”

“Really? Did she say why?”

“Why should I ask her why? she has to get married to Felix and that’s final. I don’t care to know the reason why she doesn’t want to marry him again.”

“Please tell me you didn’t say that to her.”

Elodie rolled her eyes, not saying anything.

Rhodes immediately understood her silence and gro-aned. “How could you, Elodie? I can’t believe you will_”

“Stop it.” She cut him off. “You are the reason why that girl thinks she can do whatever she wants without repercussion. She left Mexico many years ago and refused to come back. Who will take over your business when you die, hmm? Have you thought about that? Your only heir is Diamond but look, that heir wants to be a stupid writer. How much does a writer make in a month? How will she be able to feed herself? Felix is a great guy and he loves Diamond. But she is just too selfish to care about those around her.”

“Diamond loved Felix. She was even the one who wooed him, remember? There must be a reason why she doesn’t want to marry him again. And you as a mother should figure out why before flaring up.”

“You know what,” She wiped her hands with the napkin on the table and stood up. “I’ve lost my appetite. Enjoy the food by yourself.” She stormed out of the dining room.

“Ugh. I should speak to Diamond myself. I’m sure she will tell me what really happened between her and Felix.”

*****

DIEGO’S HOUSE**

“How many times do I have to tell you that I’m fine, hmm?” Layla chuckled.

“I don’t know. I am really scared of what happened yesterday to repeat itself. You scared the sh*t out of me.”

“Did you just use the cuss word?” She laughed, wrapping her arms around his neck.

“I think I did.”

She smiled and pecked him on the li-ps. “I promise that nothing like that will happen again. Trust me.”

“You know, you didn’t tell me why you were like that. What happened that made you cry for straight six hours and even turned the room upside down?”

“Well,” She paused. “I had a rou-ghday, that’s all.”

“Felix was really worried about you.”

She stiffened at the mention of her best friend’s name. If only her husband knew the truth…

“I see.” That was all she could utter.

Diego ki-ssed her again and pulled away. “I can stay back at him if you want.”

She shook her head, picking his briefcase up from the bed. “No, don’t do that. You have an important meeting.”

“You are more important to me, honey.”

“Aw. That’s so sweet but no, you should go to work.”

Diego tried to collect his briefcase from her but she moved back a little.

“I’m seeing you off.”

“You need rest.”

“fuc-k rest. I want to see my dear husband off and please, don’t think about stopping me.”

He laughed. “Alright.”

They both went downstairs, having big smiles on their faces.

A FEW MINUTES LATER;

Layla was about to go back upstairs after seeing her husband off when she heard the sound of the bell.

“Daria!” She called out, not moving an inch from where she stood.

“Yes, ma’am.” Daria stepped out of the kitchen.

“Check who is at the door. I’m sure it’s the boss, maybe he forgot something.”

Daria nodded and went to open the door.

“Honey, what did you_” Layla stopped in her sentence when she saw her best friend entering the house. A wave of anger rushed throu-ghher body. “What are you doing here?” She approached him.

Daria quickly left, giving them some privacy.

“How do you feel now?” Felix asked instead of answering her question.

“As you can see I’m fine. Now tell me, what are you doing here?”

“I am your best friend, Layla. Is it wrong for me to check up on you?”

“You are not my best friend, Felix. We both know we are more than that.” She said.

“Is your husband in?”

“No.”

“Listen, let’s go to a more private place to have this conversation.” He proposed.

“I have nothing to discuss with you about. Just leave.”

“I know you are mad at him and you have every right to be. But we really need to talk. Please.”

Layla hesitated, shooting him a ha-rd glare. After a moment of silence, she let out a breath of defeat. “Come with me upstairs.”

Felix smiled. “Thank you.”

They both went upstairs and disappeared into one of the guest’s rooms.

Felix shut the door behind him and turned to face Layla who was staring right back at him waiting for him to start talking.

“How are you feeling now?”

“You’ve asked that before. What do you have to say?”

He stayed quiet for a while, “Elodie found out about what I did five years ago and about the lie I told Mr. Rhodes. She knows about everything and she’s_”

“Are you serious right now?” Layla cut him off. “You came all the way here to tell me that?”

“It is very important. I need some advice from you.”

She let out a snicker, shaking her head. “You are so unbelievable and shameless. Because of you, I had a high fever. You insulted me in front of that wh*re and instead of you to start by apologizing about that, you are here telling me about Diamond’s mother. What am I to you? A fool? An idiot?”

Felix swallowed, rubbing the nape of his neck. “Are you still mad about that?”

“Shouldn’t I be?”

“Layla, I have everything to be with any woman of my choice. I see no reason why you should_”

“Get out.” She snapped.

“What?”

“I said get out of my house and don’t you dare show your face here until you realize your mistake and apologize. Leave!”

“Layla…” He was about to touch her but she immediately pulled away.

“Don’t you dare touch me?” She scoffed. “I’m so stupid to be fuc-k ing a guy like you. I feel so ashamed of myself. You reduced me to nothing and I can’t believe I let you do that. You treat me like trash while my husband treats me like an egg. He values me like freaking gold. He doesn’t deserve what I’m doing to him. He doesn’t deserve a cheating wife like me. I don’t know why it took me this long to realize that I’ve been wasting my time with a scu-m like you. Go back to your wh*re and ask for advice because I have nothing to say to you. Now, get out.”

Felix’s face dropped at hearing her words. “What are you…saying?”

“It’s self-explanatory, Felix. I want to focus on my husband and marriage. Whatever we have going on needs to stop.”

“Layla…”

“Get out, Felix. Please.” She walked to the door and opened it. “Leave.”

Felix took in a de-ep breath, staring at Layla in shock before walking out of the room.

Layla let out a de-ep breath she didn’t realize she have been holding in. She plopped to the floor and broke into tears.

She really loved him.

Ca-ssANO’S MANSION★NIGHT

The day went by as fast as possible. Diamond has been stuck in her room, writing her novel and also chatting with her best friends.

She didn’t cross paths with her boss throu-ghout the day and that was obviously for the best.

“Gosh, I’m thirsty.” She stood up and sneakily walked out of the room.

The hallway was as silent as a graveyard. Everyone must have fallen asleep.

Diamond’s stomach grumbled. She hasn’t had anything to eat aside from the snacks Aurora brou-ght up to her room.

She descended the stairs and entered the kitchen but gasped in shock when she saw her boss standing over there, pouring himself a glas-sof water.

He slowly looked up and their eyes met.

“Oh, fuc-k !”

TBC.
