( HELLO, MIKHAIL )

«Ca-ssANO’S RESIDENCE»

Mikhail and Aurora entered the house. Evelyn quickly stepped out of the kitchen and rushed to them, crying heavily.

“Aurora,” She crouched down to the little girl’s level and pulled her into her arms. “where have you been? Why did you leave the house without telling anybody? Do you know how worried and scared I was?”

“Evelyn, I’m sorry. I should never have left like that without informing you or anyone else. I was just frustrated and worried about my nanny.”

Evelyn sniffled and pulled out of the embrace.

“How is your nanny? Did you get to see her?” She asked.

Aurora hesitated before shaking her head as a no, looking so sad.

“No? Why? Has she been discharged?”

Mikhail cleared his throat loudly as if trying to get the woman’s attention which he got.

“Get her something to eat. I will explain the current situation to you. Where is Marcello?”

Evelyn was taken aback by her boss’s nice words. He wasn’t looking as angry as usual. She is not gonna lie or pretend not to notice the difference in him right now.

“Marcello… I guess he is outside. I don’t know. I will go and_”

“Don’t worry about it. Just give Aurora something to eat. She looks very tired.”

“Daddy, what about you? Have you eaten?”

“Don’t worry about me, Princess. Daddy will eat something on his way to work, okay?”

“You promise?”

“Ugh, you always ask me for promises.” He pointed out.

She smiled, shrugging her shoulders.

“Well, that is the only way I can get you to do something.”

“You know that is not true. I am ready to do anything for you, Aurora. You don’t have to ask me to promise you because trust me, as long as that is what you want…” He dropped a delicate kis-s on her forehead. “I will do it.”

“I love you, daddy.”

“I love you more, princess.”

“Come with me. What do you want to eat?” Evelyn asked the little girl as they both walked away.

Mikhail turned to a guard standing by the side of the door.

“Get me, Marcello. Right now.”

The guard bowed his head and left the house immediately.

«GARDEN»

“Why didn’t you tell me about your feelings for me before?” Paige asked.

“I…” He hesitated. “I didn’t have the courage.”

“You don’t have the courage? You, Marcello?” She sounded surprised. “Wow. I… I don’t know what to say.”

“Do you like me?” He asked her, holding her gaze.

She bites her lower li-p as she fiddled with her fingers.

“Marcello, how long have you liked me?” She questioned.

“Five years….”

Her eyes wide-ned and her mouth dropped open.

Marcello chuckled. “You don’t have to look so shocked about it.”

“How can I not? You’ve liked me for that long and I didn’t know? How were you able to cope, Marcello?”

He shrugged. “Work prevented me from thinking too much about it.”

“Why did you decide to tell me now then? If you were able to keep your feelings to yourself for this long, why are you telling me now?”

“Maybe because I do not want to regret not telling you in the future. No one knows what is going to happen in a second. Life is so unpredictable and I am afraid of taking my feelings with me to the grave.”

“Are you going to die soon?”

He laughed. “What? Of course not. Why would you think that?”

“You sound like one that is going to die soon, that’s why.” She answered.

“Mrs. Ca-ssano died five years ago, and even if the boss tries to hide the guilt and act like he is okay. I know he is not okay. He blames himself for what happened to her and he still blames himself for what is happening now to Miss Chase.”

She frowned. “What is happening to Miss Chase?”

“Marcello,” The guard interrupted them. “I have been looking everywhere for you.”

“What is it?”

“The boss asked that you come over to his office right now.”

“Is everything okay?”

“I don’t know.”

“Okay. Let’s go.” Marcello stood up and faced Paige. “Think about what I told you. I will be expecting an answer by tonight. Don’t worry, I am ready to stand by your decision.” He smiled and went away with the guard.

Paige slowly sat down on the bench, dumbfounded.

“What do I do? It’s Boaz I like and not Marcello?”

“But Boaz doesn’t even notice me. Should I just accept Marcello?”

“Ugh, God. What is even going on? What happened to Miss Chase? I should ask Evelyn. She would know something.”

Paige stood up and ran towards the main building.

«HOTEL ROOM»

“Hello?” Rhodes held the phone against his ear, having a sad look on his face.

“This is Mikhail,”

“Oh, Mik… I mean, Ca-ssano. I wasn’t expecting your call.”

“I know.”

“You said you were not going to get involved in my daughter’s case again. Why are you calling me now?”

“I want you to come by to the club right now.”

“What? Why?”

“Now is not the time to ask stupid questions, Octavius. Gregory and I will be waiting for you. We need to act fast before they make any move.”

“Ok… Okay. But wait,”

“What is it, Octavius?” Mikhail gro-aned out.

“You were precise that you are not going to help me find Diamond. You literally yell at me to get out of your sight and never to call you again. You even threatened to kill me if I did otherwise. Why do you want to help now? What changed?”

Mikhail did not say anything. It was almost as if nobody was on the other line.

Rhodes still waited patiently because he could hear the steady breathing from the other line.

After a while, Mikhail finally answered.

“Me. I changed.” He hung up the call afterward.

«ALONGSIDE ROAD»

A black van can be seen driving on the empty road at full speed.

Denise was driving while Joel sat in the pa-ssenger seat. Lottie and Julius sat in the back seat, behind the driver, and Diamond and Aria were in the very last seat – behind Lottie and Julius. They were both unconscious with their hands tied and their mouth covered with a piece of cloth.

“Why can’t we do what we want here instead of going all the way to that fuc-k ing town!?” Julius grunted.

“I want Mikhail to feel the pain of losing someone right in front of his eyes.” She said.

“What? Didn’t he lose his wife?”

“He didn’t watch how it all happened, did he?”

“I thought you love this man, Lottie.” He said, narrowing his eyes at her.

“What is love?” She retorted.

“How am I supposed to know? I’ve never been in love before.” He stated.

“Exactly. So stop trying to talk like an expert.”

“Lottie,” She faced him, waiting for him to go on with what he wanted to say. “have you been completely honest with me?”

“What?”

“We are partners in this game, right?”

“Right.” She agreed.

“If I fail, you will fail. And if I win, you will win. My fate is your fate and vice versa. I’m going to ask you again, have you been completely honest with me?”

She subtly moved her gaze to Diamond and stared at her for a moment before looking back at Julius and answering,

“Yes. I have been honest with you. What about you, Julius? Is there something you haven’t told me about yourself?”

“And what could that be?”

“I don’t know. You said you don’t have a wife, or a child, right?”

“Yes.”

“What about a child out of wedlock? A child you might have gotten unintentionally and unknowingly. Maybe from a long-time lover, crush, or friend. Or even from a girl you ra-ped. I don’t know. Think carefully.”

He pinched his brows together, giving her a very confused look.

“Uh… Am I supposed to answer that?”

She chuckled and shook her head. “Of course not.”

Lottie stared ahead of the road with a smirk plastered on her face.

≈FLASHBACK≈

Lottie was just returning from the basement. Julius was still in there while Denise and Joel were out of the house.

She walked to the laptop and turned it on, leaning back into the chair.

She saw Diamond and a woman and a man in the ward. They were all talking about something and crying.

And then, she heard the shock of her life.

“Julius Santiago is your father.” The woman said to the nanny in tears. “He ra-ped me and you…” She moved her gave to the man which Lottie quickly remembered.

“Octavius.” She mumbled not taking her eyes off the scene.

“You stood there and do nothing.”

“I’m sorry. I… I didn’t know.” The man apologized, crying.

≈END OF FLASHBACK≈

‘Who would believe that a father is about to kill his daughter? Isn’t this wonderful?’ She thought, smiling.

‘He dare locked me up years ago and tortured me… Does he think I have forgotten about those times? He didn’t even ask me for forgiveness. Why? Probably because he thinks he did nothing wrong. Let me see how you will react by the time you discover that you killed your own daughter. Julius? A girl who was mistreated and tortured as a child. A girl you lust over her body. A girl you are going to kill. Oh, fuc-k . This is going to be so much fun.’ She started laughing, grabbing attention to herself.

“Why are you laughing?” Julius asked.

“Oh, no. Nothing. I just remembered a very funny scenario, that’s all.”

“What is it?”

“Trust me, you don’t wanna know.”

«Ca-ssANO’S MANSION»

“Oh, my God. I’m so worried. Where could that psychopath have taken her to?” Paige asked no one in particular.

“I hate her so much,” Aurora whispered.

“Oh, child. Hate is a very strong word to use. Don’t say you hate anybody again. It is wrong to_”

“How is it wrong, Evelyn?” Paige cut the woman off.

“Huh?”

“I also hate Lottie so much. And I see nothing wrong in that.”

“Paige_”

“Evelyn, this is not the time to act all nice and kind. The little girl needs to know that people like Lottie are very dangerous ad should be hated.”

“No, Paige. Life doesn’t work that way.”

“Then, how does it work? What has Miss Chase done wrong? All she did was take care of Aurora and that’s all. Why does Lottie hate her so much? First, she stabbed her and almost killed her and now, she kidnapped her again. Aurora should hate her. There is nothing wrong in hating people like that!” She yelled and left the house.

“She must be really angry,” Aurora noted.

“No, dear. She is just sad about everything happening. Miss Chase has been like a sister to her.”

“And she has been like a mother to me.” Aurora added, staring at a picture on her tablet.

Evelyn rounded the table to see what the child was staring at. It was a photo of Diamond, Aurora, Paige, and Zara on a merry-go-round. The four of them were looking so happy and had wide grins on their faces.

It’s funny how things can go from like that to like this.

She just hopes everything will be okay.

“And she was like a daughter to me.” Evelyn murmured under her breath, wiping the tears that dropped from her eyes.

•••••

«MAIDS’ QUARTER»

Evelyn sat down on the floor and was crying, hugging a picture to her chest.

There was a knock and the door opened. Aurora walked in.

“Evelyn,” She rushed to the woman and sat beside her. “You are crying.”

“No, dear. I’m not crying.” Evelyn cried, trying to wipe off the tears but more kept falling down.

The little girl sighted the picture Evelyn was hugging and collected it.

“Mother?” She called out.

“Yes, child. That’s your mother. Diamond Ca-ssano.”

“Diamond? Wait… that is the name of my nanny.”

“Yes.”

“Oh, now I see why no one calls her by her name. It was because she will remind you all of my mother.”

“Yes.”

Aurora stared at the picture for a moment and then placed a gentle kis-s on the album.

“Mother looks so beautiful.”

“I agree.”

“Hi, mom. How are you? I know this is not the best thing to ask but…” She paused. “can you please save my nanny? Do not let anything bad happen to her. She has been really nice to me and I love her so much. Please, mommy, save my nanny. Save Diamond.”

«SWIMMING POOL AREA»

Paige wasn’t sure of where she was going. She just kept walking until she got to the swimming pool area.

She stopped walking and started crying her eyes out.

She heard footsteps approaching her but she paid no attention to it as all she cared about at that point was the nanny who has suddenly gone missing.

“Paige,” Boaz called out softly, reaching out to touch her. She didn’t react to his touch neither did she pull away. “are you okay?”

She shook her head as a no, still crying.

“Come here.” He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her to himself. “I guess you’ve heard about Miss Chase. Don’t worry, she will be found and I a-ssure you that she is okay.”

“I’m scared, Boaz. She doesn’t deserve all of these. First, she was in a critical condition and almost lost her life, and now… this?” She clutched his shirt.

“Believe me when I say, I understand. The boss is doing everything possible to find the nanny. Be optimistic that she will be fine. Okay?” He kis-sed her on the side of her head as she nodded.

«ZODIAC CLUB ★ 8:49 PM»

“There is no lead. How are we going to find them?” Gregory gro-aned.

“Julius wouldn’t have taken this deal unless he is going to benefit from it. After all, that is what deals are made up for. Both parties are meant to benefit.” Mikhail sighed, leaning on his elbow on the desk. “Lottie wants to kill the nanny because of,” He hesitated. “me. Which leads me to Julius, what will be his benefit?”

Rhodes thought about it for a few seconds. “Revenge.”

Gregory and Mikhail turned to look at him.

“Revenge?” The Russian mafia boss repeated.

“I was the reason why he got arrested in the first place. He attempted to kill Diamond, my daughter again so I… I set him up and he fell for my trap which led to his arrest.” He explained.

“So, maybe he wants to kill your daughter to spite you.”

“Or he wants to use her to lure you,” Mikhail said. “Every family man has a weakness and that is their family or those that mean a lot to them. His anger is directed at you, he wouldn’t just kill her… he will only use her to get you to him.”

“You think?” Gregory asked.

“Mm-hmm. But Lottie’s aim is to kill the nanny. And she is going to do it.”

“That bit-ch .” Rhodes snarled.

“But there is a twist here and I think someone wants to use it to their advantage.”

“Twist? What twist is that?” Gregory asked.

“The nanny is Julius’s daughter.”

“Wait, what? I thought… She…” He faced Rhodes. “Isn’t she your daughter?”

“No. She is only my stepdaughter. I thought you knew this already?”

“No.”

“You said something about someone else knowing about it. Who were you talking about?” Rhodes asked Mikhail.

“Lottie. She had a chip installed in the ward where your daughter was staying. I’m sure she heard the whole conversation you and your family had that day.”

«WAREHOUSE»

“Why have we come here?” Julius asked, looking around the warehouse where he has done a lot of atrocities.

Lottie smiled. “This place means a lot to you, doesn’t it? I remember the first time you brou-ght me here… Hmm, it has been such a long time. It is funny that everything here is almost as it was years back.”

“What is the meaning of this, Lottie? Why didn’t you tell me about this first? We are partners in this game, remember?”

“And who is arguing that with you?”

“I asked if you were not telling me anything and you said no. Why didn’t you tell me anything about bringing us here?” He roared.

“Calm down, Julius. I did tell you that I want us all to go back to where it all began, didn’t I?”

“This is where it all began?” He asked.

Lottie folded her arms over her chest and nodded her head. “Yes. The amusement park would have been the perfect spot but I heard it is now a company and it belongs to the government. We can’t do anything stupid there. So… here is the perfect place to do whatever we want.”

“How will Ca-ssano find out about this place then? No one knows here aside from you, Diamond, and your late sister. And me, of course.” He said.

“Are you sure?”

“What do you mean?”

“Are you sure we are the only ones that know about this place?”

Julius creased his brows and thought for a while.

“Octavius knows about this place also. But I doubt he remembers.”

“Then he has no choice but to remember. Because Mikhail coming here to save the nanny depends on Octavius’s memory.” She took out her phone and dialed Mikhail’s phone number.

The line rang for a while until it was finally answered.

“Hello, Mikhail.”
