«A FEW HOURS LATER ★ OUTSIDE THE WARD»
“This is crazy.” Zara huffed.
“I know, right? I don’t even know what to say at this point.”
“She was stabbed in the stomach and not in the fuc-k ing brains, why exactly would she have a loss of memory? Does that make any sense at all?”
“Your boyfriend is one of the doctors in charge of her, why don’t you ask him?” Ayden raised a brow.
Zara rolled her eyes, leaning her back against the wall.
“We are talking about something important, Ayden. Why do you have to bring Sean up?”
“I didn’t bring him up to spite you, okay? I brou-ght him up because he is the doctor in charge of Diamond. And besides, are you still mad at him? Don’t you think it is time you forgive him and move on? Or better still, hear out his explanations.”
Zara bites her lower li-p, fiddling with his fingers.
“I don’t think that’s necessary. Although, I will consider having a word with him on Diamond’s condition.” She said.
“What do you mean by that’s not necessary? I don’t get it.”
She heaved out a sigh and shrugged.
“I want to break up with him.”
Ayden’s eyes popped open.
“What!? Please tell me you are joking.”
“I am not. I don’t want to be in a relationship where I can’t trust my boyfriend. I want to be happy.”
“You’ve always been happy while with Sean, right?”
“I was but_”
“…but you want to break up with him because you caught him in an appropriate position with a nurse.” He cut her off, completing the sentence. “Are you for real?”
“Don’t judge me.”
“I shouldn’t judge you and yet you judged someone without hearing his own side of the story. I never expected this from you, Zara. Really.” He shook his head in disappointment.
“I don’t care what you think of me, Ayden. This is something I’ve pondered on and finally come to a conclusion. He broke my heart, don’t you get it?”
“You act like the victim when in reality Sean is the victim.”
“Excuse me?”
“Listen, you are my best friend and I love you so much but believe me, I will always tell you the truth regardless of whether it hurts you or not. After all, the truth hurts.” He paused. “If you keep acting this way, you will definitely lose Sean, and trust me when I say that you will never find another man like him.” Ayden said before going back into the ward.
Zara stood in silence, boring a hole in the wall as she mulled over Ayden’s last words.
Why did he have to say all that?
She is the victim here and not Sean.
He was the one who cheated on her with his fuc-k ing colleague.
He was the one who shattered her heart!
She sobbed quietly, hanging her head low.
And now, her best friend can’t remember her again.
Why is everything so messed up like this?
“Are you alright?” A voice grabbed Zara’s attention, pulling her out of her thoughts.
Zara raised her head and frowned when she saw the person who just spoke to her.
It was the same nurse she caught ki-ssing Sean in his office.
Her blood boiled in anger and finally, she found something, or let’s say someone she could vent her anger on.
“What the fuc-k are you doing here?” She snapped.

«BERNARDO’S OFFICE»
Mikhail and Rhodes barged inside the office without knocking.
Bernardo abruptly stood up from the chair, staring between the both of them.
“You can’t walk in like that without knocking. What if I was with a guest?” He hissed.
“fuc-k that shit. What’s going on?” Mikhail questioned.
“I heard my daughter is awake but has memory loss, how is that possible?” Rhodes added.
“You both need to calm down and take a seat.”
“I don’t want to sit down.” Mikhail and Rhodes said at the same time.
They exchanged glances but looked away from each other immediately.
“We are going to do a brain scan on her. The memory loss she is experiencing makes no sense at all.” Bernardo said.
“fuc-k .” Rhodes cursed loudly, tugging his hair. “Nothing must happen to my daughter, you hear me. Nothing must happen to her!”
“She is awake, at least we should be excited about that, right?”
“Excited?” Mikhail repeated. “What is the point if she doesn’t remember those that matter to her?”
The doctor shrugged, lowering his gaze.
“When are you going to perform the scan?” Rhodes asked.
“When she wakes up from sleep.”
“Did you sedate her?” Mikhail queried.
“We had to do that so she can get herself. She was paralyzed and couldn’t move her body when she woke up earlier.” He answered.
“When will she wake up?” Mikhail asked again.
“Let’s say… In one hour.”
Mikhail and Rhodes left the office.
“Why do you care so much?” Rhodes asked out of the blue on their way to the ward.
“Excuse me?” Mikhail creased his brows, glaring at the man as they both stopped walking.
Rhodes cleared his throat. “Why do you care about my daughter? I mean, you should hate her, especially after finding out that she’s somewhat related to me.”
“I am not like you, Octavius. I don’t go after innocent people to make a point to those who hurt me. I don’t cheat in a fuc-k ing game. Your stepdaughter didn’t do anything wrong to me, why should I hate her? Because she’s your daughter?” He shook his head. “I am not like that.”
“Ahem,” Rhodes cleared his throat. “Can I ask a question?”
Mikhail gave him the go-ahead look.
“Are you going to kill me?”
“I will decide that after getting my revenge on that fuc-k ing bastard and the bit-ch .” He snarled and walked away.

«IN THE WARD»
Elodie sat down on the chair beside the bed while Ayden was sitting down on a couch in the corner of the large room, scrolling throu-ghhis phone.
Paige and Aurora were seated beside Ayden.
The door opening and closing caught their attention.
Aurora quickly stood up and rushed to her father.
“Hey, princess.” He said, carrying her in his arms. “Are you okay?”
She sniffled and shook her head.
“Will my nanny be alright? Will she ever remember me?”
“She will, okay? Bernardo is going to do everything to bring back her memory.” He said.
“Can he do that?” She sniffled again.
“Of course. If he doesn’t, I’m going to take your nanny to another hospital where they can bring back her memory, you trust me, right?”
The little girl bobbed her head up and down, wrapping her tiny arms around his neck and placed the side of her face on his shoulder, and slept off.
Elodie stood up and walked to her husband.
“What did the doctor say?” She asked.
Rhodes let out a de-ep sigh, ruffling his hair.
“He is also confused as to why she can’t remember us.” He murmured.
“What is going on? I thought she was only stabbed in the stomach.”
“Yeah… That is what makes everything so confusing. I guess they will just need to scan her brain. Maybe she fell and hit her head on something. Who knows?”
Elodie walked past Rhodes and stepped closer to Mikhail.
“What happened to my daughter?”
He glanced at her from head to toe. “Finally, I get to meet my daughter’s nanny’s mother.”
“Did Diamond tell you about me?”
”You don’t seem happy about that.” He observed. “Anyway, I don’t care about your happiness.”
“Neither do I care about you as well. Just tell me what happened to my daughter. How did she get stabbed while taking care of your child?”
“You can ask your husband that question.” He turned to leave but stopped. “You know, it is funny to see you worry over her not after how you treated her when she was a kid. Listen carefully, I am only letting you off the hook because you are her mother and I’m also giving you an opportunity to mend her heart and repair every damage you might have cost her. Because I swear I won’t forgive you if you dare hurt her again. My forgiveness is very difficult to get. You can ask your husband.” He growled darkly and left the ward with his sleeping daughter in his arms.
Paige scurried to her feet and ran out of the room, following after her boss.
“What… What just happened?” She asked no one in particular, turning to look at her husband. “Why did he tell me to ask you? Do you know him before? Did he explain to you what happened to Diamond?”
“He did. I will explain everything to you later.”
“Okay? So, what about knowing him? Are you going to explain that now or… Later?”
Rhodes gulped nothing, “Later. I will explain everything later.”
“Okay?” She slowly sat down. “How close is he with Diamond that she has to tell him everything about me and what I did to her?” She mumbled. “And how dare he threaten me?”
“Honey, here is something you should know,” He leaned close to her and whispered. “It is no threat. He meant every word he said. So better start treating Diamond well if you don’t want to end up dead.”
“Huh?”
‘He really cares about Diamond? What exactly is their relationship? Boss and employee? Or something more.’ Rhode thought, staring at Diamond.

«EMPTY ROOM»
Zara gave the nurse a resounding slap on both cheeks, her eyes gleaming in fury.
The nurse didn’t fight back, she just lowered her head, looking remorseful for what she had done.
“How dare you?”
“I’m sorry.”
“Don’t dare apologize, you shameless bit-ch .” Zara spat coldly. “You knew he had a girlfriend and yet did what you did. What kind of a heartless beast are you? Huh?”
“I love him.” The nurse said, raising her head to look at Zara. “I’ve always loved him and still do.”
“What?”
“He didn’t tell you, did he?”
‘Or more like I didn’t let him say anything to me.’ Zara said in her mind.
“What are you talking about?”
The nurse hesitated.
“Sean and I once dated. But we broke up after he found out that I was cheating on him.”
“Huh?”
“I know that’s mean of me. But believe me, I regret everything I did in the past. I regret cheating on him and breaking his heart.” She said.
Zara sniffled, fighting back the tears.
“Is that your excuse for almost ruining his relationship with me!?”
“Let’s be honest here,” The nurse paused. “I am at fault for forcing myself on him, fine. But don’t blame me for what happened between the both of you. You refused to listen to what he had to say because you don’t trust him. You doubted him.”
Zara let go of the tears as the nurse’s words hit her ha-rd on the face.
She clenched her fist tight.
“I’m sorry for saying that. Any lady in your shoes would have reacted the same way. Damn, I would have done worse.”
“You are right. I was the one who almost ruined our relationship for not trusting him enough. Ayden was also right… Sean was the victim here and not me.” She said under her breath. “fuc-k .”
“Miss_”
Zara slapped the nurse again, cutting her off.
“That is for cheating on Sean and I’m also grateful too because if you had never cheated on him, I wouldn’t have had my chance with him.” She slapped the nurse again. “And that is for being a selfish bit-ch .” She turned around and left the empty room, having one direction in mind.

Mikhail carried Aurora straight to her bedroom and tucked her into the bed.
He left afterward and went to his room.
As soon as he walked in, he loosened his necktie and took off the white shirt he was wearing, tossing it on the nearest couch.
He gro-aned as he sat down at the foot of the bed.
He blames himself for what happened to the nanny.
It was his fault.
She almost lost her life over what? Nothing.
(“Why can’t you choose me? Why not me?”) He remembered the words of Lottie on that fateful day. The first day he almost lost the love of his life.

“Diamond, open your eyes. Please.” Mikhail cried, hugging his fiancee to his body.
Lottie stood behind him with her body and hands stained with blood.
“How could you have done this to your sister!?” Evelyn asked at the top of her lungs, tears pouring down from her eyes.
Lottie stayed quiet, watching Mikhail who was crying profusely.
“I swear if anything happens to her, you will pay dearly for it.” Evelyn threatened.
Marcello stormed inside the house, breathless. It shows that he has been running.
“The car is ready.”
“Let’s go.” Mikhail scooped Diamond in his arms and he ran out of the house alongside Evelyn and Marcello.
Just as he was about to enter the car, Lottie stormed out and held his arm.
“Get your fuc-k ing hand away from me.” He snapped and she immediately pulled away like she was electrocuted.
“Are you going to leave me?” She asked in a low voice.
“I hate you so much. Get away from my sight.”
“Why can’t you choose me? Why not me? Why!?” She cried.
“I will never choose you, Lottie. Even if you are the only girl in the world, I had rather die single or fuc-k a dog than be with you or fuc-k you.” He grumbled, tears rolling down his face.
“Wha_ What? You didn’t mean that, right? You can’t mean that.” She started crying. “Mikhail, please love me. Please choose me.” She went on her knees. “Please love me.”
“Do you even love yourself? Answer me.”
She didn’t say anything.
“Pray that nothing happens to her or else_” He entered the car and slammed the door shut.
Marcello got into the driver’s seat while Evelyn entered the backseat along with Mikhail and they drove away, leaving Lottie behind.

Maybe he should have killed Lottie instead of letting her go away.
He should never have relented as a mafia boss.
Yes, Diamond doesn’t like it when he kills or hurts people but he wishes that was exactly what he did in the past.
He wish he wasn’t so soft-hearted and nice. He wish he shot that bit-ch in the head.
He slide down and sat down by the foot of the bed, tears streaming down his face.
(“Wait, did you just say Lottie?”)
(“Yes. She was the girl who came to make a deal with Julius Santiago.”)
Mikhail balled his fist as he cried har-der , squeezing his eyes shut.
(“mia mafie italiana”)
(“You have my pictures, right? Stare at them and talk to them as if I’m there…you will miss me less.”) His wife’s words played in his head.
(“Mik… Mikhail, save ou…our baby.”)
Does this mean that Lottie never left?
Was she in Italy that day?
Or has she always been in Italy?
He didn’t think over his last thought as all of his concentration was on his wife who died so unfairly.
Mikhail cried like a baby, curling himself in a fetal position and closing his eyes.

«HOSPITAL ★ SEAN’S OFFICE»
Sean was working on some medical report when he heard a knock on the door.
“Yes, come in.” He answered without taking his eyes off the files.
The door opened and Zara walked in.
“How may I help_” He stopped talking when he saw that it was Zara. “Zara,” He slowly stood up.
“Sean,” She cried, walking slowly towards him.
“What happened? Why are you crying? Is it about Diamond? I promise to see to her condition.”
“Sean,” She called out again, sobbing.
“Babe_ I mean, Zara. Are you alright? Please talk to me. What is_”
He kept quiet when she wrapped her arms around his wa-istand pressed her face into his chest, we-tting his black shirt with her tears.
“I’m sorry.” She apologized, holding him tight to herself. “I’m sorry for everything. For listening to you. For being stupid. For not trusting you. For being selfish. I’m so sorry, Sean. I must have hurt you and mistreated you. You didn’t deserve it. I’m sorry.” She rambled.
“Zara,” He called quietly, dumbstruck.
“I love you, Sean. I love you so much. I love you with all my heart, soul, and body. I love you with every fiber in my body. I love you. I can’t live without you. I am addicted to you, Sean. I love_”
He put an end to her blabbering by bringing his li-ps over hers.
He ki-ssed her slowly, savoring every moment.
When he pulled away, her eyes were closed and there were tears on her lashes.
“I love you too, baby.” He whispered and she opened her eyes. “I love you and I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have let that bit-ch anywhere near me. I’m sorry for giving you a reason to doubt and distrust me. I’m sorry.” He cupped her face and ki-ssed her once again.
“No, I should be the one sorry.” She sniffled. “I love you more.”
“Aww.” Someone cooed from the doorway.
Seen and Zara turned to see who it was.
“Really, Ayden? Really?” Zara scoffed.
“What? I was knocking but no one answered. You can’t blame me for walking in on you both. To be honest, I’m glad I did. I mean, I wouldn’t have noticed this beautiful moment.” He winked.
“Geez.” Zara rolled her eyes, burying her face back into Sean’s chest.
Sean chuckled and pulled his arms around her, dropping a ki-ss on the top of her head.
“Do you need me for something?” He asked Ayden.
“Uhm, Diamond is awake.” Ayden announced.
Zara yanked her head up and turned back to look at him.
“She is?”
“Yeah. And guess what?”
“What?”
“She remembers us this time around.”
Sean and Zara’s eyes popped wide.
“She does?”
“Turns out to be that she was playing a prank on us earlier. According to her explanation, when she blinked once, she wanted to see our reactions but just as she was going to blink twice, she felt so weak that she couldn’t move her eyes like she could before.”
“What!! How could she play such an expensive prank on us? Is she a comedian? Did she know how worried and scared I was? What the hell? I’m going to deal with that girl.” She pushed Ayden out of her way and stormed out of the office.
“I think we should go after her before she punches Diamond back into a coma.” Sean said and Ayden nodded in agreement, and they both ran out of the office as well.

Mikhail walked barefoot on the gra-ss, looking around.
He caught sight of a girl whose back was facing him. Her blonde hair flowed at her back.
“Diamond?” He called out, stepping closer to her.
He finally got to her and touched her shoulder, she paused and slowly turned to look at him.
He moved backward when he caught sight of her face.
Her blonde hair changed to black and her blue eyes changed to Grey.
She changed from his Amore to his daughter’s nanny.
“Hi, I’m Diamond Chase.” She smiled.
