Chapter 151&152

♠♠♠♠♠
(JULIUS SANTIAGO)

FIVE YEARS AGO

“You know, I used to wonder_” He stood up to his feet and rounded the desk, coming to stand in front of Octavius. “why you never introduced me to your family and why I never cared. Maybe it has all been fate’s plan. They never wanted me to meet with your beautiful stepdaughter.”

“Keep my stepdaughter and family out of that gutter you call a mouth.”

“Come on, don’t be so cold towards me. I am still your best friend.”

“Best friend indeed. We cut ties with each other many years ago, remember?”

“Do you still hate me over what happened that time?”

“Listen, I am not here to talk about what happened that fateful day, okay? Why did you ask me to come over? Why are you suddenly talking about my family?”

“I met your stepdaughter.”

“What?”

“I said I met_”

“I heard what you said the first time.” Octavius cut him off. “How is that possible? Diamond resides in Las Vegas so…I don’t get it. How do you even know she’s my stepdaughter?”

“I am not stupid, mate. We might have reduced communication with each other but I still know everything that goes on around you.”

“Have you been…stalking me?”

“Oh, please. Why should I do that? I am Julius Santiago and I can get whatever information I need within a few seconds.”

“So, did you hire a private investigator to check out the identity of my stepdaughter? Is that what you are saying?”

“I don’t need to hire any fuc-k ing investigator. My boys can do a perfect job on that. However, I didn’t do any of that. I don’t care about your family to stalk them, Octavius. You decided to leave your life as a mafia boss after you got married to your wife, I won’t judge you for that. I’ve dealt with my business with or without your damn help and I have gotten all I ever wanted and that includes,” He smirked, leaning back against the desk. “finding the little girl who has grown into a very beautiful woman.”

Octavius furrowed his brows, a little bit confused.

“What are you talking about?”

“Diamond Chase is her name and she lives in Las Vegas with her two best friends…what are their names again?” He feigned to be de-ep in thought. “Aha, Zara and Ayden. Am I right?”

“Are you for real? You claimed not to be stalking my family so how the hell do you know about all this?”

“Yes, I know about everything that revolves around you but I internationally kept your family business out of mine.” He said. “But believe me, I didn’t know I will find your stepdaughter when looking for someone else.”

“Explain what you mean because I still don’t get it.”

“To break it down for you,” He paused. “I have been searching for a girl named Diamond. She took something very precious from me years ago. After all these years of searching, I finally found her in Las Vegas, living her life so freely with no care in the world. I found out what her last name was and I was beyond surprised.” He tilted his head to the side. “Chase. I knew that you changed your name and identity to Rhodes Chase. It was easy to put two and two together to figure out who she really is. Your stepdaughter.”

Octavius cleared his throat. “She could be my biological daughter, why didn’t you suspect that?”

Julius laughed loudly, throwing his head back.

“What?” He stopped laughing, staring at his friend. “We both know you can’t impregnate a woman. Your d*ck is as dead as a lifeless tree. Let me guess, your wife doesn’t know, right? I’m sure she doesn’t. Besides, you married her because of her beautiful daughter. Why? Well, because you can’t father a child of your own.”

“How… How did you…”

“I told you. I have always been watching you. I chose to keep a close watch on you. I might know some vital information about your wife but believe me, I didn’t go throu-ghher identity. I might walk past her today and won’t even know she is your wife unless I want to pay closer attention to every woman I walk past by.”

Octavius swallowed nothing, shooting daggers at Julius throu-ghhis eyes.

“Why have you been looking for Diamond?” Octavius asked, going back to the important conversation.

Julius simply shrugged. “Because I need to take back what she took from me and then, kill her.”

“What!?”

“What did she take away from you? How did she even come across someone like you?”

“That’s a story for another day.”

“You better leave her alone, you hear me? I don’t know the business you both had but stay away from her.” Octavius warned.

“Are you threatening me? Or are you begging me?”

“You wish. Beg you? Oh, please give me a break.”

Julius collected a file from the desk and handed it over to Octavius.

“What is this?” Octavius asked, frowning at the files.

“I won’t go near your daughter only on one condition.”

“What?”

“Check the file you are holding and see what you need to do for me and save your precious daughter’s life.” He said.

Octavius hesitantly went throu-ghthe file and immediately shook his head, dropping the file on the floor.

“Never.”

“What did you just say?”

“You heard me. I say, never. Are you fuc-k ing kidding me? You don’t expect me to sign that proposal, do you?”

“You don’t have a choice.”

“I have a damn choice and I choose not to sign the proposal, okay? Going after the Russian mafia’s shipment is like committing suicide. I thought you said you’ve done your things yourself without my help so why do you need my help now?”

“I need the help of the Italian mafia. You seem to be close to him, so you should help me talk to him. I want to use his connection, power, and money to get what I want.”

“No. I betrayed Mikhail once and that was your fault. I am not going to get him involved in my mess again.”

“I heard he forgave you. Ask him for help, he would offer it to you.”

“I said I am not going to do that.”

“Don’t you love your stepdaughter?”

“Keep Diamond’s name out of your damn mouth.”

“I knew that girl even before she became your precious stepdaughter.”

“I don’t give a fuc-k . She is my daughter now and you should learn to respect me as her father.”

“Are you doing all this father lovey-dovey bullshit because of the secret you’ve been trying to keep from your family?”

“Simply because you know about my secret doesn’t give you the damn right to threaten me with it.”

“Who said I’m threatening you with your stupid secret?” He laughed. “I was only asking a harmless question. Stop acting like a lady on her period.”

“Whatever. I am not signing that proposal and you dare not go anywhere close to my daughter.”

Julius gave out a sly smile and went to stand by the window, stuffing his hands inside his pan-ts pocket.

“Diamond, you know I never imagined I will see her again like this after all these years.”

Octavius’s face reddened and his eyes glistened in pure rage, he clenched his fist and gritted his teeth so hard.

“Stop talking about my daughter, Julius. I am warning you.”

“You don’t seem to be getting it, do you?” Julius scoffed. “I am not afraid of you. You should be the one scared, why? Well, because I know all of your weaknesses and I can use them against your bloody a-ss. I can kill your stepdaughter right here and now and nobody is going to do anything about it. Not even you.”

Octavius knew well enough that Julius was right.

He could really kill his stepdaughter and goes away freely.

“Now tell me, are you_” Julius began but got interrupted by the loud voices coming from outside of the office.

“Ma’am, please you can’t go inside.”

“Don’t you dare try to stop me?”

“Ma, do you have an appointment with him? If no, then please leave.”

“If you touch me again, I swear I will break chop off your fingers and feed them to you. Dare me.”

The door burst open and a young lady walked in alongside his secretary.

“What is going on?” He asked, walking away from the window.

“Sir, I’m really sorry. I tried to stop her but_”

“Julius Santiago.” The young lady cut the secretary off. “That’s you, right?”

“I don’t think I know you.” He stated, narrowing his eyes at her.

“You do. But you don’t recognize me.” She said.

Julius smirked, finding the situation amusing. “Oh, really? Maya, you can leave. I will take it from here.”

Okay, sir.” The secretary bowed her head and left the office.

“Tell me, beautiful lady. Where have we met? I’m curious to know.” He gro-aned, ripping her clothes off her body with his eyes.

She stepped forward, noticing a file on the floor but ignored it. “We met many years ago. I was a kid then.”

“You were a kid? Nah, you’ve got the wrong person, sweetheart, I don’t think I’ve met you before.”

“Lottie.”

“What?”

“My name is Lottie. The little brunette girl who made a deal with you. Does that ring a bell?”

Julius goes frozen on the spot.

“Do you know her?” Octavius asked from where he remained standing.

“I think…so?” He sounded unsure.

“Think dee-per, Julius You should remember me.”

A sly smile crept its way to the man’s face and he tilted his head to the side, looking at Lottie from head to toe.

“Lottie. The selfish sister. I remember you now.”

“Ah, you finally remember me. Although, not in the best way but who cares?”

“Is this going to be my lucky day?” He rhetorically asked. “A few minutes ago I was talking about one of you and now, the second one of you is right here in front of me. Are the heavens on my side now?”

“Which of us were you talking about?” Lottie asked.

He waved his hands off. “That is none of your business. So tell me, how is your sister? My little bird.”

Anger and hatred shone in Lottie’s eyes.

“I am actually here because of her.”

“Really? Do you wanna seat and talk?”

She quickly nodded. “Yes.”

“Fine.” He rounded his desk and sat down while she pulled out one chair and sank into it.

“First of all, how did you find me?”

She shrugged. “When I want answers, I find them regardless of what it is going to cost me. Discovering your location was a piece of cake for me. But kinda difficult.” She mumbled the last sentence but Julius heard them.

“Still sa-ssy, I like that.” He cooed.

“Now that you’ve remembered me, I think it’s time we get down to business.”

“You are here to talk business with me. Interesting. You always amuse me. What business is it? Enlighten me, baby girl.”

She glanced back at Octavius, indirectly telling him to give them some privacy but Octavius ignored her.

“We should have the conversation privately.” She said.

“Don’t worry about Octavius, he is a partner of mine. You can tell me whatever you want in his presence and he won’t tell a damn soul, believe me.”

“The deal I am about to tell you wouldn’t just affect you. It would affect me as well,”

“As I said, you don’t need to worry about anything. Octavius is a trusted friend.”

“Alright then.” She cleared up her throat. “I am here to strike a deal with you.”

Julius’s brows shot up.

“A deal? You want to strike a deal with me again?” He snickered, leaning back into the cool leather seat. “Fantastic. This day keel getting interesting. Shoot. I’m all ears.”

“My sister.” She blurted out. “I want you to kill her.”

Silence filled the air as soon as she spat out those words.

Octavius leaned his back against the wall, staring at the girl who has come to strike a deal with the devil himself.

“I am not an a-ssa-ssin, beautiful lady.” Julius finally said, breaking the silence.

“I heard you’ve been looking for her and her partner in crime,”

Julius momentarily glanced at Octavius before focusing his attention on the lady.

“That’s right.”

“I can tell you where exactly you can find her. I want her dead.” She said.

“You still haven’t changed. Vicious as you when you were a kid. Out of the three girls, you are the one I like the most, do you know why?”

She smirked. “Because we think alike.”

“Precisely. You are just like me. If we can’t have something… We force it.” He leaned towards the desk. “I really want to make the deal with you but you are the one who is going to benefit more. Yes, I have been looking for your sister but the one I want,” He stared at Octavius again. “I’ve found her.”

“Is she still alive?”

“Unfortunately. But don’t worry, I have everything covered.”

“So you are not going to help me?”

“I’m sorry, baby girl. I don’t make deals like this. Something should be in for me too, you know. That’s how I do my business.” He stated.

“I will help you.” She almost yelled.

“What?”

She stood up, walked towards the file on the floor, and picked it up.

“I will help you with this.” She had read some vital details on the file when she noticed it the first time she sighted it.

“What can you possibly do to help me?”

“Don’t underestimate me, Julius. As I’ve said, I get what I want regardless of how much it cost me. Mr. Dante Cruz. One of the most feared mafias in the world. Believe me, when I say, I am one person who can have him on his knees.” She ran the tip of her tongue over her li-p, seductively, smirking. “Strike the deal with me; You kill my sister and I help you steal the shipment. What do you say? Deal?”

Julius rose to his feet. “Can you really do that?”

“There is only one way to find out.” She stretched out her hand.

He hesitated, walking towards her, and then stopped right in front of her.

“You are so naughty. But fine, I will do it.” He shook hands with her. “Steal the shipment and I kill your sister. Deal.”

Lottie smiled with the side of her li-ps. “Who would believe we are going to be making another deal after all these years?”

”Tell me about it.”

They pulled their hands apart.

“Drop every information about her current identity and whereabouts, I will take it from there.”

“Okay.”

Lottie wrote everything down on paper and lowered it on the desk.

“Everything you need to know about her is all in there. It is nice doing business with you, Julius.” She grinned.

“It is.” He agreed.

She grabbed her handbag from the chair and left the office.

“Who is that girl?”

“She is a girl, your daughter was unfortunate to have met as a kid.” He answered, collecting the paper from the desk. “Since you can’t help me steal the shipment but someone else has offered to do so… What are you going to do for me then in exchange to save your stepdaughter?”

“You are not going to go anywhere close to my daughter.”

“Kill the sister of the girl who just left here now.”

“What? Never. I am not going to do that.”

“Then say goodbye to your stepdaughter. I mean it, Octavius. Since you don’t want to ask your Italian friend for help in stealing the shipment, then betray him by killing his dear wife.” His eyes darkened.

PRESENT DAY

CLIFF**

“Untie him,” Mikhail said, taking a step back.

Marcello untied Rhodes’s legs and hands and the man immediately jumped away from the edge of the cliff, breathing heavily.

“Julius was the one who pulled the trigger but I was there with him when he did all that. I’m sorry. I only wanted to protect my stepdaughter.” He said.

Mikhail bites her lower li-p, closing his eyes.

“Is that motherfuc-k er still alive?” He growled.

“Yes. But he was arrested here in Las Vegas.” He answered.

“fuc-k !” Mikhail angrily cursed under his breath.

“You shouldn’t have stabbed Diamond to lure me out. That girl did nothing wrong.”

“Are you kidding me right now?” Mikhail peeled his eyes open. “My wife did nothing wrong and yet she died like a chicken.”

Rhodes su-cked in a de-ep breath and doesn’t say anything.

“However, I wasn’t the one who stabbed your daughter.” He said under his breath.

‘I would never do that to her.’ He thought.

That caught Rhodes’s attention.

“I don’t get it. How then was she stabbed? Who stabbed her? What happened?” He asked all at once.

“The same girl who strikes a deal with that bastard to kill my wife.” He bellowed. “She stabbed your daughter intending to kill her.”

“Lottie?”

“Yes.”

••••

POLICE STATION**

“I am here to see a prisoner,” Lottie told a cop.

“What is his number?” The cop asked.

“5347.” She responded.

“Go to the waiting room, he will be there shortly.”

“Okay. Thank you.” She smiled and walked away.

•••

WAITING ROOM**

She have been waiting for close to ten minutes when the door finally opened and a man walked in with his hands handcuffed alongside police.

Lottie sat comfortably on the chair, smirking at him.

His li-ps stretched into a smile as he saw her.

“Lottie, the selfish sister who got what she wanted. To what do I owe this surprise visit?”

“You have twenty minutes to talk.” The police said and left the waiting room, standing in front of the closed door.

Julius sat down on a chair, opposite Lottie.

He was beginning to have grey hair.

“You look…the same.” She chuckled.

“Is that a good thing or a bad thing?” He quirked a brow.

“Trust me, it is a good thing.” She smiled.

He quietly studied her.

“Why have you come, Lottie? You didn’t just come here to see how I am faring.”

“True.” She placed her elbow on the table and leaned further towards it. “I am here to strike another deal with you, Julius Santiago.”

DIAMOND’S MEMORY**

A girl with black hair was running, breathing heavily.

Another footstep can be heard running behind her,

“Ahh,” She suddenly heard a scream and then she stopped running and turned around.

“What are you doing? Run. Diamond, run. He is coming.”

The blurry face became clear – She was the girl with the black hair and the one who had fallen had blonde hair and blue eyes.

“Diamond, come on.” She screamed at the girl with blonde hair.

••••

HOSPITAL**

There was nobody in the ward aside from unconscious Diamond.

The heart monitor’s beeping was the one sound that can be heard in the empty room.

A few seconds later, Diamond’s fingers moved and then slowly, her eyes opened.

TBC.
