Ca-ssANO’S MANSION**

Lottie stormed inside the house and went straight to the kitchen.

Paige was doing the dishes while having a conversation with Marcello.

They stopped talking when they noticed her presence.

She paid them no attention and goes to the knife’s rack and snatched one from it.

“What do you want to do with a knife?” Paige quickly asked.

Lottie shot her a ha-rd glare before leaving the kitchen, ignoring the maid completely.

“Is she okay?” She asked Marcello.

“That girl is never okay. Just let her be. Maybe she wants to cut fruit or something.”

“She should have simply said so instead of ignoring me like that.”

“Don’t mind her.”

Paige scoffed. “I hate that girl with so much pa-ssion. I don’t even get why she’s still in this house.”

“Hey, be careful of the things you say. That girl is a complete psycho.”

“I am not afraid of her for one bit. What can she possibly do to me, huh?”

Marcello shrugged.

“Geez.” She clic-ked her tongue and continued washing the dirty dishes. “Anyway, what were you saying again?”

••••••

DIAMOND’S ROOM**

Lottie entered the room and moved toward the bed.

She sat down on the edge and stared at the door, waiting for the nanny to come inside.

She held the knife firmly in her hand, angry tears streaming down her face.

How could Mikhail do this to her?

Of all people, why the nanny?

It’s been twenty-five fuc-k ing years already. When will he ever notice and choose her over other girls for a change?

First, it was her sister, Diamond. And now, it is a mere nanny, Diamond.

Diamond again…

“Ugh, I hate that name.” She hissed angrily, clenching her fist even tighter.

Will he ever choose her?

She suddenly remembered one of the fights she had with her sister.

“Can’t you do this one thing for me, huh?”

“I can’t leave Mikhail because of you, Lottie. I love him so much.”

“And I love him too.”

“What are you even saying? I thought you were dating Kendrick.”

“We broke up.”

“What? Why?”

“Is that important right now?” Lottie gr-unted.

“Yes. Because I don’t get why you will break up with your boyfriend and then come over here and ask me to leave mine for you. Does that even make any sense?”

“Are you saying you are not going to leave Mikhail for me, is that it?”

“Mikhail asked me to marry him,” She put up her fingers, displaying the huge diamond ring around her middle finger. “and I said yes.”

Lottie’s mouth dropped open in shock and confusion.

“What did you just say?”

“I am getting married to the love of my life in three weeks.” Diamond said.

“No, no, no. You can’t do this to me. You can’t betray me like this.”

“Betray you?” She furrowed her brows, dropping her hand down. “Can you even listen to the things splattering out of your mouth?”

“I introduced you to Mikhail, remember? He knew me first before you. Our love story was going amazingly well until you came along and took everything away from me!”

“Stop playing the victim card here, Lottie.” Diamond snapped. “Yes, you introduced me to Mikhail but do I have to remind you that the both of you were never dating?”

“So? Does that mean we were not going to date in the future?”

“If Mikhail had feelings for you, he would never have asked me to be his girlfriend so stop fighting over a man that doesn’t feel anything for you.”

“Arrgh!” Lottie unexpectedly let out a scream, startling Diamond in the process. “You’ve always been the golden child since we were little. You came first in everything but I promise, I won’t you take what’s mine.”

“Mikhail is not an object, okay?”

“I don’t give a fuc-k about that. I want Mikhail and I’m going to have him whether you like it or not.” She snatched her bag from the couch and turned to leave when Diamond asked her a question from behind.

“Would he have chosen you?”

Lottie slowly faced her sister once again, perplexed.

“What did you say?”

“I said, would he have chosen you?”

“I don’t get it.”

Diamond folded her arms over her chest and took two steps forward.

“You said your love story with him was going amazingly well until I came along but in reality, you both were never dating even without me in the picture. So tell me, if you never introduced me to Mikhail,” She paused. “would he have chosen you?”

Fresh tears rolled down Lottie’s face.

Her eyes were darkened and her blood boiled a hundred degrees.

She remembered the scene she saw earlier,

“Do you mind me fuc-k ing you out here?” He asked.

“No.” She quickly shook her head, rocking him fast-er.

“What if we get caught? Isn’t that going to tarnish your reputation?” He gro-aned.

“I don’t care. Just fuc-k me.” She mo-an-ed, breathlessly.

“NO!!!” Lottie shouted and started stabbing the bed, ripping the mattress and pillows apart.

She stood up, strolled to the cosmetics table, and knocked down everything, including the laptop and some other things.

She repeatedly punched the wall mirror and broke it into a million pieces, some glas-sstuck into her knuckles but she didn’t flinch or care about the pain.

She need to get rid of the anger in her system, it was gradually driving her insane.

“WHY HER?” She asked at the top of her lungs, going to get the knife on the destroyed bed. “I will kill her, I swear on my parent’s grave.” She sat on the floor and cried profusely.

{“If you never introduced me to Mikhail, would he have chosen you?”}

Her sister’s question echoed in her head, tearing her apart.

“Will he ever choose me?” She asked out loud, thru-sting the knife into her left thigh, continually.

Blood splattered on the floor turning the white tiles to red color.

She did not stop the a-ssault she was inflicting on herself.

“I hate her…I hate that bit-ch …”

DR. JOHN’S HOUSE**

He was making dinner when he heard the doorbell and he walked out of the kitchen, he got to the door and opened it. His eyes wide-ned when he saw his close friend standing in front of him.

“Oh, my God. Diego.”

“Hi. Can I come in?”

“Sure. Why not?” John opened the door wider for him to enter.

Diego entered and took off his shoes by the door, he went further into the house and sat down on the couch.

John closed the door and approached Diego.

“I can’t believe you are here right now. Where have you been? And why did you switch off your damn phone? Do you know how many times I tried reaching out to you?”

“I’m sorry, man. I have a lot of things on my mind.”

“Do you want to talk about it?”

“I’m sure you’ve heard the whole thing. After all, she was hospitalized in your hospital.”

“Let me get you something to drink.” John walked to the drink bar and grabbed a bottle of whiskey with two glas-scups.

He returned to Diego who haven’t moved from where he remained seated.

“Here,” John gave him one glas-sand poured a whiskey. He also poured for himself and sat down. “I’m sure you need a drink.”

“Aren’t you a doctor? I mean, you should stop me from taking alcoholic drinks instead of encouraging me.”

John scoffed whilst rolling his eyes.

“Oh, please. One glas-sof whiskey won’t hurt.”

“Thank you for this. You are right, I need a drink to calm my head.”

“I understand, man.”

“Hmm.”

They silently drank the whiskey but John was curious to hear the pov of his best friend.

“Are you not going to go back home to Layla?”

“I didn’t come here to discuss her, John.” Diego gro-aned, pouring himself another glas-sof drink.

“Diego, there is something you need to know.”

“If it has anything to do with that woman then don’t say it.” He said.

“Are you sure you don’t want me to hear what I have to say?”

“I don’t. I came here to relax my brain. There is a reason why I didn’t go to a hotel, you know.” He advanced to grab the bottle of whiskey for a third round but John stopped him.

“I only encouraged you to drink one or two gla-sses and not the whole bottle.”

“But I need more of it.”

“No. The last thing I want is a drunk man in my house. Even the Bible says, drink but don’t get drunk.”

Diego narrowed his eyes. “When did you become a Bible scholar, hmm?”

“That’s none of your business. Anyway, I’m just making dinner. Do you want to join me in the kitchen?”

Diego hesitated. “Sure. I am famished.”

John chuckled and stood up. “Let us go then.”

“Come to think of it, where is your wife?” Diego asked, standing up as well.

“She went to her mother’s place with our daughter. They will be coming back next week. So you have until next week to sort whatever shit you have going on with your wife.” He sighed. “You can’t stay forever in my house.”

“Just shut up and let’s go and cook.”

“Yeah, whatever.”

They entered the kitchen and continued from where John had stopped.

LAKE’S HOUSE**

Lake was surprised to see Ayden in his house.

“Babe, what are you doing here?” He asked.

Ayden huffed, ruffling his hair. “Zara is really pissed off at me.”

“Did she kick you out of the house?” Lake asked, a smile playing on the side of his li-ps.

“Not really…”

“Is that a yes or a no?”

“Uhm, well, She didn’t technically kick me out of the house. However, I knew I had to leave before something mysterious is going to happen.”

“How do you mean?”

“I let Sean into the house.” He said.

Lake shook his head. “What? But she asked you not to.”

“Yes, she did. But you can’t blame me, can you? He came over today and pleaded with me to let him speak to Zara. I trust Sean and I know that whatever she saw has a reasonable explanation.”

“Did she tell you anything about it?”

“No. Zara has always been the closed one among the three of us. Diamond is open-minded just like me. As for Zara, she loves sorting things out by herself instead of sharing her worries with us.” He stated.

“You can’t blame her. She doesn’t want her best friend to carry her burden.”

“We are more than being best friends. We are like a big family. If she can’t share her problems with us then who will give her a shoulder to lean on and a listening ear? Besides, how will her problems get solved? Don’t forget; a problem shared is a problem half solved.” He said.

“You’ve become so smart.”

“I’ve always been smart. Are you just realizing it?” Ayden muttered.

Lake chuckled. “Don’t worry, she will come around, okay?”

“I hope so.”

“Hold on a sec, if she didn’t kick you out of the house, why are you here?”

“Ah, I don’t trust that girl. She can kill me in my sleep and no one will know what truly happened. Fear the wrath of Zara.” He said, jokingly.

Lake laughed out loud.

BFF’S APARTMENT**

“Ayden?” Zara called out as she descended the stairs.

She looked around the house but it was quiet and empty.

She turned on her phone and saw a text message from Ayden and Diamond.

She clic-ked on Diamond’s message first.

DIAMOND: HEY BABES, HAVE YOU GOTTEN HOME?

Zara typed a response.

ZARA: YES. WHY DO YOU ASK?

She clic-ked on Ayden’s message afterward.

AYDEN: I’M SORRY FOR LETTING SEAN IN WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT BUT I WISH YOU WILL LISTEN TO HIM. ANYWAY, I LEFT HOME AND WILL BE SPENDING THE NIGHT AT LAKE. I AM NOT DOING THIS BECAUSE I’M MAD AT YOU, I JUST WANT TO GIVE YOU THE SPACE AND PRIVACY YOU NEED. I HOPE YOU WILL CONFIDE IN ME AND TELL ME EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED. I TOLD DIAMOND ABOUT YOU AND SEAN, THOUGH. SO GET READY FOR A LOT OF QUESTIONS FROM HER. AND WE BOTH KNOW SHE WON’T STOP PESTERING UNTIL YOU TALK. AH, THAT’S ONE REASON WHY I LOVE THAT GENTLE TERRORIST OF OURS. SHE IS SO CRAZY AND AMAZING. I KNOW YOU ARE SMILING RIGHT NOW????. I’M TALKING TOO MUCH, RIGHT? HAVE A WONDERFUL NIGHT, HONEY. SEE YA TOMORROW. LOVE YOU????.

Zara had a huge smile on her face by the time she finished reading Ayden’s long epistle.

She typed a simple response to him.

ZARA: SEE YA TOMORROW. LOVE YOU TOO❤.

When she said she would never forgive him earlier, she didn’t mean it.

She loves her best friends so much and can’t possibly do anything without them. They are her world, foundation, and pillar. After the death of her parents, they became her only family.

Zara immediately sent Diamond another message.

ZARA: I KNOW WHY YOU MESSAGED ME. SO, GO STRAIGHT TO THE POINT AND STOP BEATING AROUND THE BUSH????.

She dropped the phone on the table and goes into the kitchen.

She poured herself a glas-sof warm water and took a sip.

{“She forced herself on me.”} She remembered Sean’s words and heaved out a de-ep breath.

{“Give him a chance, Zara.”} Ayden had pleaded with her.

“Can I listen to what he has to say? I don’t think I am ready.” She muttered, biting her lower li-p.

Ca-ssANO’S MANSION**

Diamond walked into the house with a huge smile on her face.

She sighted Paige and Marcello coming out of the kitchen, giggling over something they might have been discussing.

“Hey, Miss Chase.” Paige waved.

“Hey.” She faced Marcello and wiggled her brows. “What are you doing in there with Paige, huh?”

Paige blus-hed. “Oh, my God. What are you thinking?”

Marcello glanced over at Diamond and said, “I think she’s thinking we did what she did.”

“Huh?” Paige looked confused.

Diamond gulped nervously.

“What are you talking about?”

“You smell of s-ex.” He said blankly.

“Marcello!” Paige and Diamond exclaimed at the same time.

Diamond sniffed at her body and shit, he was right.

“Bastard.” She mumbled and walked away.

“You shouldn’t have said all that.”

“What? Didn’t you notice?”

“I did. I’m not blind, you know. Her top was even inside out but I still pretended to be clueless.” She slightly shrugged.

“Well, I’m not you. I am quite blunt.”

★And yet you can’t tell her how you feel, hmm?★ His mind mocked.

“Um, Paige,” She stared at him. “I will like to talk to you about something.”

She raised a questioning brow at him. “Okay? I’m all ears.”

The door opened and Mikhail emerged.

Paige and Marcello quickly bowed their heads.

“Marcello, come with me.” He said, going upstairs.

“Okay, sir.” Marcello gave Paige the ‘Let’s have this conversation later’ look and left with the boss.

DIAMOND’S ROOM**

Diamond examined her bedroom, her mouth dropping open.

The room was a complete mess.

Her bed was ripped apart, the wall mirror is smashed into pieces, her laptop lay on the floor, and her creams and makeup were also on the floor.

“What is going on here?” She thought out loud, looking out the window, afraid that a thief might have snuck into her room and taken her valuables.

She was scared that someone might attack her when she least expected it from behind. Just like most of those horror movies.

She contemplated running out and calling for help but first, she needed to be sure that something is missing.

Diamond caught sight of the blood on the white tiles.

“Oh, fuc-k .” She gasped. “No, I better call the boss over here to see all these things for himself.” She turned to leave but someone suddenly hit her from behind on the head.

Diamond gro-aned and dropped to the floor.

“Do you know how long I’ve been waiting for you?” Lottie asked, plastering a smirk on her face.

Diamond sat upright and gazed at the lady standing in front of her, holding a knife.

“You…you are bleeding.” She noted at the open wound thighs.

“So?” Lottie rolled her eyes, leaping towards the door and locked the door with a key. “Oh, gosh. Diamond, you really shouldn’t have crossed my path.

“What are you talking about?”

“How dare you think you can take Mikhail away from me?”

“Mikhail? Who the fuc-k is that?”

“Oh, I see you don’t know the name of your boss. Tut, where did my manners go?” She tutted.

“Lottie, I don’t know what this is all about but you have to take that knife away. This is a huge crime, you know.”

Lottie released a hot slap on Diamond’s face.

“Shut up, you bit-ch . How dare you talk to me about crimes, huh?”

“Don’t ever slap me in the face again. Are you mad? Listen, I am only keeping quiet because of that knife you are holding. If not_”

Lottie slapped her again.

“Do your worse.” She challenged.

Diamond glared at her, clenching her fist. Both cheeks were reddened by the hot slaps.

“Mikhail is mine. He is fuc-k ing mine.” She gro-aned.

“So you are here because of Mikhail and not the kid, is that it?”

“Shut up and don’t even think about giving me those judgmental looks.”

“You must have caught us having s-ex in the pavement. It was just s-ex, Lottie.”

“You and I both know that’s a lie! I can see the love in your eyes. It isn’t just s-ex for you.” Lottie said.

“You do not see anything in my eyes so stop saying shit you don’t know.”

Lottie slapped Diamond again.

“Ow! That fuc-k ing hurts.” The nanny whined.

This was one disadvantage of each room is soundproof. Now, no one is going to hear your screams when you need help!

“I’m going to kill you.” Lottie threatened.

Diamond let out a nervous laugh. “I know you don’t mean that. You can’t possibly hurt a fly, right?”

“You think?” Lottie slit her wrist to make her intention clear.

“Holy crap. You are crazy.” Diamond said, coming up to her feet. “What do you fuc-k ing want from me?”

“You know, my sister once asked me, ‘Will Mikhail ever choose you?’ I pondered on the question until I got an answer twenty minutes ago. Mikhail will never choose me if there are a lot of options. But if there are no options, he will have no choice but to settle for me.” She smirked. “You are an obstruction just like Diamond and I’m going to take you out to get what I want.”

“Just like Diamond?” Diamond scrunched up her face. “What are you saying, Lottie?”

“Ah, you don’t know Diamond, do you? You really don’t know anything about this home, Diamond…But don’t worry about all that because you are going to die soon.”

“Lottie, calm down.” The nanny said, thinking of a way to escape the room.

“Don’t tell me to calm down!” She snapped. “I told you not to cross my path or else I’m going to be making a deal with the devil. Well, there is no need to meet the devil because I’m going to take care of you myself.”

Lottie lunged at Diamond, attempting to stab her stomach but the nanny fought back. She held Lottie’s hand pushing her back.

“Do you think I will stand back and let you stab me?”

“No, and that’s why there is a plan b.”

Lottie released the knife, and in a flash, she grabbed a chair and hit Diamond on the head.

“fuc-k .” The nanny released the knife and fell to the ground, hissing in pain.

“Mikhail is mine.” She collected the knife and thru-st it into the nanny’s stomach three times.

“Ahh!” Diamond gr-unted, blood gushed out of her mouth.

“Die,” Lottie yelled and stabbed her again.

The last thing Diamond saw in her memory before succu-mbing to the darkness was a child with blonde hair.
