DIAMOND’S ROOM**

The nanny lay unconsciously in the pool of her blood.

Lottie sat down at the edge of the bed, tears rolling down her face as she stared at Diamond.

“This is all your damn fault.” She mumbled, sniffling. “I told you not to cross my path, I warned you!”

She clenched her fist, ignoring the pain that shot up on her injured wrist.

“You should never have gotten any closer to Mikhail. He belongs to me. He is fuc-k ing mine. And if I can’t have him then no one else can.” Fresh tears fell down her face but she quickly wiped them off.

“Do you know how long I have waited for him to notice and love me? Do you?” She scoffed. “Of course, you don’t. You all don’t fuc-k ing know anything.” She stood up and approached the lifeless nanny. “In your next life, don’t fuc-k a man that isn’t yours, to begin with. I wish you burn in hell, bit-ch .” She spat on her and left the room as quietly as possible.

•••••

LOTTIE’S ROOM**

“Ugh, pick the damn phone.” She gro-aned, trying Aria’s number for the fourth time.

The line rang but there was still no response.

“fuc-k .”

She kept trying, hoping for a miracle. Fortunately, the call was finally answered.

“Hello?” Aria mumbled sleepily.

“Hey, are you there?”

“Yes. Why are you calling me at this time? It’s_” Her voice trailed off for a few seconds. “11:20 pm. What’s going on?” She yawned.

“I need your help.” Lottie said.

“My help? With what?”

It was silence,

“Can you come over?”

“What?”

Lottie dragged her injured legs along as she paced back and forth in the room.

“You need to come over here right now.”

“What are you saying? Why should I come over?” Aria asked in confusion.

“Because I have to get out of Mikhail’s house. I need to leave this place asap.” She said.

“What?” Aria started laughing, “Listen, if this is a prank call just stop because it is no longer funny again.”

“Does it sound like I’m joking? Why the fuc-k will I call you by this time to prank you. Do I look stupid to you?”

“This is crazy. Are you seriously planning to leave Mikhail’s house now?”

“Can you stop asking me questions? Now is not the right time for a Q&A.”

“I’m confused, okay? You woke me up from sleep and then tell me to come over and get you out of Mikhail’s house. That’s so unlike you.” She paused. “Unless he kicked you out or…” Aria released a loud gasp. “What did you do, Lottie?”

“Arrrgh!” Lottie suddenly screamed.

“Oh, shit. What the hell was that for? Do you want to damage my eardrum?”

“Don’t ask me stupid questions and get here immediately. If Mikhail finds out about what I’ve just done…” She shook her head. “consider me dead.”

“I hope you haven’t done anything stupid. Anyway, I will be there in forty minutes.”

“Twenty.” Lottie negotiated.

“Thirty.”

“I am talking about my life, Aria. I want to see you here in twenty minutes. Please.”

Aria hesitated. “Fine.”

The call got disconnected.

“I need to get out of here,” Lottie mumbled and started packing her clothes and belongings.

TWENTY MINUTES LATER;

LIVING ROOM**

Lottie lifted her suitcase and leaped her way downstairs. She had bandaged her thighs and wrist to stop the bleeding and also change her blood-stained clothes.

She surveyed the house and it was as silent as a graveyard. This was her chance to escape unnoticed.

She got to the front door and was going to open it when a voice came throu-gh.

“What are you doing?”

She turned around, a bit startled. It was one of the watch guards.

“How dare you speak to me in that manner, huh?”

“Uh, what manner?”

She cleared her throat. “Why did you stop me?”

“Ma’am, you should be sleeping in your room like everyone else.” He glanced down at her pink suitcase. “Where are you heading off to.”

‘Who the fuc-k is this bastard? I have to get out of here before my crime gets noticed.’ She thought.

“How is that any of your business? Do I look like a prisoner whose movement is restricted?”

“Ma’am_”

“Open the damn door or else you are going to lose your job.” She threatened.

“I am doing my job, ma’am. Does the boss know…”

Lottie cut him off with a hot slap on his face.

“Get out of my way before I do something crazy.”

The guard hesitated before stepping aside for her.

“Idiot.” She pushed him aside and left the house.

•••

Aria was just arriving in front of the gate while Lottie was stepping out of the compound.

The guards were giving her suspicious looks but neither of them said anything.

She dropped her suitcase in the backseat of the car and then hopped in.

“Let’s get out of here.” She said.

Aria zoomed off immediately.

•••••

ARIA’S HOUSE**

“What is going on!?” Aria asked as soon as they entered the house.

Lottie left her suitcase by the door and went to grab a bottle of tequila.

She popped the bottle open and took a large gulp.

“Are you deaf?”

“I am not in the mood to talk, Aria.”

“You are in the mood. You must be in the mood. What did you do? And what happened to your thigh and wrist?” She questioned.

“Nothing.”

“Nothing? Don’t give me that crap. So what, did your skin peel off by itself or what?”

Lottie took a few more gulps of drink, sitting down on the floor.

“Lottie, if you don’t start talking, I’m going to call Mikhail over here.”

“No, you are not going to do that.”

“Don’t dare me.”

“I can be crazy, Aria. And you know it.”

“You don’t scare me. Now tell me, what did you fuc-k ing do?”

“I KILLED HER!” She lashed out, standing up. “Did you hear? Isn’t that what you want to hear? Well there, I’ve said it.”

Aria’s face dropped and her mouth hang open.

“Wha…what did you just say?”

“I killed the stupid nanny. She crossed the line and I ended it for her.”

“No, you can’t be serious. I guess you are drunk and don’t know what you are saying.”

“I fuc-k ING KNOW WHAT I’M SAYING.” She growled. “I killed that bit-ch and I will kill her a thousand times more if I have the chance.”

“Why?”

Lottie took another gulp of tequila and ran her fingers throu-ghher hair.

“I saw her and Mikhail on the pavement.” She paused. “He…He was fuc-k ing her.” She started crying. “How could he betray me like this? Will he ever choose me over those shitty girls?”

Aria plopped to the couch, still looking very shocked.

“So you killed a person because she had s-ex with Mikhail?”

“Mikhail is mine.”

“Mikhail is not an object! He has every right to choose whoever he wants.”

“And why can’t it be me!? Why?”

“If his heart chooses to love Diamond, your sister, then so be it. If it chooses the nanny, that’s okay. Stop forcing it. What am I even saying, isn’t it already too late to give you this advice?”

Lottie abruptly smashed the bottle of tequila on the floor.

The glas-sflew everywhere, cutting throu-ghAria’s left cheekbone.

“What the hell?” Aria hissed, touching her face. “What did you do that for?”

Lottie unexpectedly wrapped her fingers around her best friend’s throat, squeezing the life out of her.

“Lo…Lottie, what…what are you doing?” Aria choked out, trying to free herself from Lottie’s firm hold.

“Do not say something like that to me again. If I can’t have Mikhail then no one else can. I don’t care about who his heart chooses. If it is not me then nobody is going to be with him.” She gro-aned in a dark voice.

“I…I…I can’t breathe,”

“Do you know what I’ve done in the past to have him? Do you know the deals I made with the devil to get just this one man?” She released Aria’s neck and started laughing like a psychopath. “I am crazy, Aria! I am crazy about Mikhail’s love. Every day I imagine the both of us on the bed, fuc-k ing. I imagine him treating me just as he always treats that stupid sister of mine! I want him so badly and it hurts that I can’t have him. Mikhail will never choose me. That hurts!” She yelled, tugging at her hair as hot tears escaped her eyes.

Aria ran her fingers over her bruised neck, staring at her friend in fear.

‘She’s losing herself…again.’ She thought to herself.

“Lottie,” She coughed. “don’t lose yourself. Please.”

“I already did. When I came to the realization that I can’t have him…” She grinned, menacingly. “I lost it. I’ve completely lost it, Aria. Mikhail is my life, my happiness, the air that I breathe, my heart, my every fuc-k ing thing! God made a big mistake not making Mikhail choose me.” She said.

“What are you saying?” Aria began to cry. “Do you think killing the nanny is going to change anything?”

“No, it won’t. However, there will be no woman in his life again because I am going to kill every one of them that gets too close to him.”

“What? The cops. They are going to call the cops if they find the nanny’s body.”

“They won’t. Do you know why? Mikhail is a mafia boss which makes him an enemy of the cops. And even if he calls the cops, the fingerprint that will be found in the knife is that of his little princess.” She laughed hysterically. “Am I not a genius?”

“Wait a minute,” Aria cleared her throat. “are you trying to frame the little kid for your crime?”

“Well, she won’t pay for the crime she didn’t commit if the cops aren’t involved.” She shrugged.

“Are you crazy?” Aria stood up to her feet. “That girl is just five years old. And why would she want to kill her nanny? Does that theory make any sense to you?”

“I don’t care.” She plainly said.

“Mikhail will definitely know what happened and he is going to come for you.”

“He should catch me if he can.” She walked throu-ghthe broken gla-sses, dragging her injured leg along. “fuc-k , I want to sleep.”

MORNING☀

Ca-ssANO’S MANSION**

Aurora descended the stairs and went inside the kitchen.

Evelyn and Paige were making breakfast.

“Good morning,” The kid cheerfully greeted.

“Good morning, dear.” Evelyn replied.

“Good morning, Miss Aurora.” Paige smiled.

“Yeah…Can I have a glas-sof water, please?”

“Sure.”

Evelyn poured a glas-sof warm water and hand it over to the kid.

“Thank you.” Aurora collected it and took a sip. “Have any one of you seen my nanny?”

“No, dear. I’m sure she’s still sleeping in her room.”

“Do you think I should go over and wake her?” She asked.

“Uh, I think you should let her be. Today is Sunday and I’m sure she’s really tired. Do you need her for something? I could help you with it.” Evelyn said.

Aurora shook her head. “No, it’s okay. I should go and meet daddy.”

She gave back the glas-scup to Evelyn and ran out of the kitchen.

“Ah, that kid.”

“Isn’t it unusual that Miss Chase is still asleep?” Paige queried.

“She might not even be sleeping, you know.”

“Let me go and check up on her.”

“Why?”

“Evelyn, I don’t know, I’ve been feeling uneasy since last night.”

“Uneasy? Why?”

“I don’t know.”

Evelyn let out a soft breath. “You must be hungry.”

“Nah, I’m not.”

“Then you need a cup of coffee. Don’t worry, I will make it for you.”

“Thank you but I’m fine.” She sighed. “You know what, I will go to the garden.”

“Oh, okay.”

Paige walked out of the kitchen, using the back door.

“Should I check up on the nanny? Tsk, Evelyn, she’s okay. Don’t let Paige’s uneasiness get into you.” She said to herself and then continued cooking.

•••••

Aurora arrived at her father’s bedroom door but didn’t go inside.

Her gaze was solely on her nanny’s door.

{“AURORA, GET OUT OF THE WAY!”} A smile appeared on the little girl’s face. That was the first time her nanny called her by her name.

{“I think you should let her be. Today is Sunday and I’m sure she’s really tired.”} She remembered Evelyn’s words but decided to push them aside and go to her nanny.

Aurora approached the door and knocked quietly but there was no answer or any sort of movement from inside.

“Nanny?” She called out and knock again.

There was still no answer.

“Nanny, I’m coming in.” She announced and twisted the doorknob open.

“Here I come…” She walked inside the room and immediately let out a scream, holding the door open. “ARRRRRRGH.”

Mikhail who was just stepping out of his room rushed to the scene. Evelyn and a few other guards ran upstairs upon hearing the scream of Aurora.

“Princess, are you…bloody shit.” Mikhail quickly covered the eyes of his daughter, blocking her vision from seeing the state of her nanny.

Marcello, Evelyn, and other guards entered the bedroom.

“Oh, my God.” Evelyn staggered back, mouth hanging open, and fell to the ground.

“Nanny,” Aurora started crying, struggling to pull her father’s hand out of her face.

“Evelyn,” Mikhail called out in a dark voice.

“Ye…Yes, s…s…sir.” The old woman stammered, crying silently.

“Take Aurora out of here.” He ordered.

Evelyn stood up with shaking legs and carried the little girl in her arms.

“No, let me go. Nanny!” Aurora cried.

“Let’s go outside,” Evelyn mumbled and left the house, going to the garden.

Mikhail crouched down to Diamond’s unconscious form and checked her pulse.

‘fuc-k , I can’t feel her damn pulse.’ He thought.

“Who could have done this?” Marcello asked no one in particular.

“Is she dead?” A guard asked.

“chiudi il becco.” (Shut the fuc-k up). Mikhail bellowed. “Marcello, prepara quella dannata macchina.” (Marcello, get the damn car ready.)

“Sì, Capo.” (Yes, boss). Marcello hurriedly left the room alongside the other guards.

Mikhail carried Diamond in his arms and ran out of the room, rushing downstairs.

Her body was almost cold, and her face was pale and white.

How long has it been? He wondered.

He stepped out of the house and saw Boaz, standing beside the car.

“Check the CCTV and see what happened last night.” He instructed.

“Yes, sir.”

•••••

HOSPITAL**

They got to the hospital, owned by Bernardo.

Mikhail carried Diamond inside the building, pushing anyone that stood in his way.

Two nurses prepared a bed in the ER and Mikhail dropped Diamond on it.

Her clothes were soaked in blood.

Bernardo and two other doctors ran to them.

“What happened?” Bernardo asked.

“She was stabbed,” Mikhail answered. He was able to identify the cause throu-ghthe open wound on the side of her stomach.

One of the doctors that came along with Bernardo had his gaze fixed on Diamond.

“Oh, no.” He mouthed.

“Sean, get the defibrillator. Hurry.”

Sean came out of his dazed and left. A few minutes later, he returned with the machine.

‘What could have happened to her?’ He thought to himself.

Bernardo to-re Diamond’s singlet open. He turned on the machine and placed two sticky pads on her each side of her chest.

“Are you ready?” He asked Sean and the other doctor.

“Yes, doc.” They answered.

“90 joules.” He said. “Shock!” He placed the defibrillator on her chest and her body rise and fall but there was no response from the heart monitor. “100 joules.” He instructed the doctors. “Shock!” Her chest rises and falls still nothing happened. “200 joules.”

Tears rolled down Sean’s face.

Her pulse rate was at 10 while her heart rate is 20.

Bernardo continued shocking her with the defibrillator and then suddenly, her pulse dropped to 0 and her heart rate dropped to 0 as well. An alarm in the heart monitor went on, filling the whole room.

The doctor shook his head, taking a step back from her body.

“Remove the wires from her body.” He said.

Sean started crying, walking away.

The other doctor took off the wires while a nurse covered Diamond from head to toe.

“Diamond Chase, died February 2nd, 2023.” Bernardo announced.

“What is going on? Who died? What the fuc-k are you saying?” Mikhail snapped, stepping closer. “Take off that cover.”

“Ca-ssa…”

“I said take off that covers!” He yelled, cutting the doctor off.

The nurse fearfully took off the covers.

“Keep shocking her until she revives.” He said.

“Ca-ssano, I’m sorry.” Bernardo let out a sad sigh. “She was brou-ght in late, she has lost a lot of blood. I’m sorry once again but she couldn’t make it.”

As soon as the words left the doctor’s mouth, tears rolled down Mikhail’s face.

Memories of how his wife died flooded back into his head.

★FLASHBACK★

“I’m sorry…we tried our best…”

Mikhail ignored him as he went closer to her dead body and held her hand in his.

“Amore?” He called softly, more tears escaped his eyes. “Please open your eyes. Please. Please don’t do this to me. Please. I can’t live without you. I can’t breathe without you. Please wake up. I beg of you.” He sobbed har-der , ignoring the fact that he wasn’t alone in the room.

“Accept my condolences.” The doctor said before leaving the room alongside the nurses, leaving only Mikhail and his wife.

★END OF FLASHBACK★

“Step aside.” He gro-aned.

“Mikh_” Bernardo began.

“I SAID STEP ASIDE.” He said angrily.

The doctor immediately stepped aside alongside the nurses.

Mikhail approached the bed and look down at the nanny whose face looks paler than before.

He couldn’t stop the tears from falling and he wasn’t ashamed of crying in front of the people.

He suddenly climbed the bed, straddling her but not sitting directly on her lap.

“What are you doing?” Bernardo asked.

Mikhail ignored him, positioning his both hands on her chest, and started the compression.

????What is he doing?

????Isn’t she dead?

????I feel so sad for him. She must be his wife.

????There is nothing that can possibly be done.

Words flew about but Mikhail dismissed their voices as he performed the CPR.

“Don’t fuc-k ing die on me. Open your eyes.” He said. “OPEN YOUR fuc-k ING EYES.”
