RHODES’S HOUSE★MEXICO**

“Welcome, sir.” The maid collected his briefcase and went upstairs.

Elodie was seated in the living room, watching a program while drinking a glas-sof champagne.

Rhodes walked up to her with his hands stuffed inside his pocket. He glanced at the program she was watching and then moved his gaze back to her.

She knew of his presence but chose not to say a word to him.

“Are we going to keep doing this?” Rhodes asked.

Elodie did not answer, she just quietly sipped from the glas-sof champagne.

“Honey,”

“Please don’t call me that.” She said.

“I’m sorry about last night. I had a lot on my_”

“You had a lot on your mind.” She completed his sentence, coming up to her feet. “That is always your excuse and guess what, I am sick and tired of it.”

“Do you have any right to be mad at me?” He questioned. “You were the one who kept Felix’s act away from me. You knew of his unfaithfulness towards our daughter and how he dared lie to me but chose to keep it away from me.”

“So what? I am the one at fault now?” She raised a questioning brow at him. “Are you pa-ssing the blame on me?”

He paused. “No.”

“Then make your point clear. What are you trying to say?”

“We should put an end to all this childish behavior. We are both adults and fighting like kids is not the best way to settle our misunderstanding.” He explained.

“Wow.” She dropped the glas-son the table and folded her arms over her chest. “We have been married for ten years, Rhodes. Ten good years.”

“What are you driving at?”

“Exactly. What am I driving at?” She repeated his question and stepped closer to him. “Have you always been honest with me?”

“What?”

“I admit. I was at fault for not telling you about Felix. I was only concerned about our family’s reputation and I’m sorry but what about you? Are you not also guilty of something?”

Rhodes stayed quiet for a few seconds.

“If this is about how I treated you last night, I said I’m sorry. I had a lot_”

“I don’t want to hear that excuse!” She cut him off. “Didn’t you hear what I had say? Or maybe I should repeat myself, I am sick and tired of that word.”

Rhodes let out a de-ep breath, running the tip of his tongue over his li-ps.

“I don’t want to fight, Elodie. We should settle this misunderstanding peacefully instead of creating more topics of argument.” He gro-aned in frustration.

“And that’s exactly what I’m doing. We can’t settle misunderstandings if we are not honest with ourselves. I have a lot of questions for you. I am curious about the man I’ve been married to for ten years. Enlighten me, Rhodes. Is that too much to ask?”

“What exactly do you want to know, huh?”

“Everything.” She answered. “From your past down to your present. I want to know everything about you and most importantly,” She paused, unfolding her arms from her chest. “I want to know how Diamond was the reason why you got married to me.”

ZODIAC CLUB**

“A shot of tequila, please.” Rosa ordered, scrolling throu-ghher phone.

“Hey.”

She looked up and found Jerry smiling down at her.

“Oh, Jerry.” She awkwardly smiled back. “I didn’t know you were the bartender on shift.”

“I see.” He slid down the shot of tequila to her. “Can I say something?”

“Yeah. Sure.”

“Are you mad at me for something?”

“Huh? What are you talking about?”

“I am talking about how strange you’ve been acting towards me lately. You seem to be nervous and awkward around me.” He responded.

Rosa gulped the drink and cringed at the burn. “I don’t know what you are talking about.”

“Of course, you do. You even called me by my correct name just now.”

“Uh…did I?” She cleared her throat, avoiding meeting his gaze.

“Stop avoiding my gaze, Rosa.” He said.

“I’m not avoiding your gaze. You need to stop making all these stupid conclusions.” She said in a mutter. “Anyway, I have work to_”

“We should talk.” He cut her off.

“What? Talk about…what?”

“About the shit going on between us.”

“Ugh. Jerry, nothing is going on between us. Why are you making a big deal out of nothing?”

“You’ve done it again.”

“Done what?”

“Calling me Jerry. You don’t call me by my correct name, Rosa. What happened to call me Kerry, huh?” He rounded the bar and came to stand in front of her. “Does this have something to do with the ki-ss?”

Her eyes wide-ned. “What the fuc-k is your problem? Why do you have to bring that up in here?” She looked around.

“Nobody is listening to our conversation but if you don’t feel comfortable talking here then let’s go outside and talk.” He grabbed her hand and started pulling her towards the club exist.

“What are you doing? You can’t leave the bar unattended to.”

“Don’t worry, someone is going to take over from where I stopped.”

OUTSIDE**

As soon as they got outside, she yanked her hand from his grasp.

“I don’t like what you are doing, honestly.” She mumbled.

“Answer my question.”

“What…”

“Are you trying to draw a line because of the ki-ss we shared that night?” Jerry asked.

Rosa sighed, scratching the back of her neck. “I have work to do. We can have this_”

“No. We need to talk about it right now and here. Did you regret the ki-ss?”

She pursed her li-ps, clutching her phone tight but not to the point of damaging it.

“Answer me, Rosalie. Do you?”

“What about you?” She fired back, staring into his eyes. “Do you regret it?”

“No.” He answered without hesitating. “I don’t regret the ki-ss. In fact, I enjoyed it. And it even made me realize what I felt de-ep down for you.”

She creased her brows. “Wha…what are you talking about?”

“I like you.”

Rosalie’s legs almost gave up on her but she held herself up. She expected to hear anything but definitely not that.

“What did you just say?”

Jeremiah stepped close to her, closing the distance between them.

“I like you so much.”

“Are you for real? Wait, is it because of the ki-ss?”

“No. I’ve always liked you from the very beginning but I didn’t realize it until we shared our first ki-ss.” He reached out to hold her hand. “What about you?”

Did she?

Maybe she did during the ki-ss but she can’t say how she felt after the ki-ss.

Felix has been the only one in her mind…

She doesn’t even know what she feels for Felix. Yes, she was attracted to him the first day they met but what about now?

Why did she initiate the ki-ss that night with Jerry?

What about Felix?

“Ugh.” She snatched her hand from his grip, taking a step back. “We shouldn’t complicate things.”

“What do you mean?”

“It was a mere ki-ss, okay? I was overwhelmed by my emotions and didn’t know what I was doing.” She said.

“Are…are you saying…” He couldn’t bring himself to finish the question.

“Yes.” She nodded, knowing what he was going to ask. “I didn’t feel anything from the ki-ss.”

Jerry’s face dropped immediately and his chest felt so heavy that he could barely breathe.

“You…You…You…”

“Jerry, I’m sure you are confused. It is normal to feel attracted to someone when you get too int-imate but with time you will get to see that it isn’t love.”

“I like you, Rosa. I know what I feel for you. I’m not confused.”

“Well, I don’t.” She blurted.

“Wha…what?”

She gulped, preparing herself to drop the bomb. She was already feeling bad because she knows her next word was going to hurt him.

“I don’t like you, Jerry. The kind words you said to me and the emotions I felt were what made me ki-ss you and I’m sorry for playing with your emotions.” She said.

Jerry lowered his head, biting his lower li-p.

“Jerry, I_”

“No,” He took a step back. “It’s fine. I get it.”

Her phone started ringing. She glanced down at it and saw Felix calling.

Jeremiah saw the caller ID as well.

“Do you like him?” He asked.

Rosa looked up from the phone to his face. “What?”

“Do you like Felix?” He asked again.

“I…I don’t know.”

He gave out a sad smile, nodding his head. “He is lucky. There is still a little bit of hope for him. Unlike me who has gotten an answer already.” He turned around and went back inside the club.

“Jeez. Why do I feel so bad?” Her phone started ringing again. She answered the call. “Hello?”

MIKHAIL’S ROOM**

He closed the door, carrying the nanny in his arms, and went to drop her on his king-size bed.

He covered her up with the thick duvet and then sat down on the couch not far from the bed.

His gaze never left her pale face.

She look so weak and distressed that he almost felt bad for her.

Keyword; almost.

★“You never try to explain yourself, Mr. Ca-ssano. It’s very shocking to hear you splatter all those things in an attempt to defend yourself.”★

★“I like to see this old side of you. It shows that you are not completely lost.”★

Bernardo’s words rang in his head.

“fuc-k …” He gro-aned, shaking off the thought.

“I wasn’t worried about her,” He whispered. “I only showed her a little kindness because of Aurora.” He a-ssured himself.

She suddenly started coughing. Mikhail sprang up to his feet and rushed to her side.

“Hey, calm down.” He stroked her back gently.

She stopped coughing and slowly opened her eyes, moving her gaze to him.

“Boss…” The raspy whisper pushed past her chapped li-p. She wasn’t sure if he heard her.

“I’m here.”

“I…I hate him.” She said. “He disgusts…me.”

“You need rest.” Mikhail told her.

She shook her head in disagreement. “No, I need to forget about the past.”

“Huh?”

She didn’t say anything for a while. “I was trying very ha-rd to recover my lost memories and then I realized that the lost memories are somewhat connected to him. Yes, I want to know how I met Lottie however, I don’t want to remember that one memory of him. I want to forget…” She started crying. “I want to forget his voice…his touch…his laugh…he irks me.”

Mikhail stared at her quietly, memories of his late wife flooded back into his head.

★FLASHBACK★

“Mikhail…” Diamond called out, peeling her eyes open.

He quickly rushed to her side and wrapped his arms around her body.

“Hey, babe. How do you feel now?”

“I…I don’t know.” She answered, weakly.

“I understand. The doctor said you need enough rest.”

She shook her head, tears streaming down her face. “No,”

He frowned. “No?”

“I need to forget about him, Mikhail. His voice, his touch, his creepy smile…I want to forget everything. Yes, I want to remember the girl who was with me that day but,” She paused. “I don’t want to remember him. And if remembering the girl means remembering him,” She held Mikhail’s gaze. “Then I don’t want to remember her. I just want to forget about the past.” She cried.

★END OF FLASHBACK★

“I want to forget…” The nanny repeated, her eyes dropping close again.

“Then forget.” The words rolled out of his mouth and he didn’t try to stop them. “Forget about the past, Diamond.”

Her li-ps stretched into a wide smile and she nodded calmly.

“I will.” She dozed off.

Mikhail got out of bed and stormed inside the bathroom.

Hot tears rolled down his face as he gripped the sink tightly.

“Amore…” He murmured, squeezing his eyes shut.

This was the same pain his late wife went throu-ghand he wasn’t able to save her.

He couldn’t save her…

But then again, why was his daughter’s nanny going throu-ghthe same dilemma?

Mikhail opened his eyes and stared at his reflection in the mirror.

The similarities between the two of them are too much.

Their names…the pancakes…the headache relief…the trauma…are they all just coincidences?

But as the saying goes; ‘It is no longer a coincidence when it exceeds three times.’

“What is the connection between them? What am I missing?”

RHODES’S MANSION★MEXICO**

“You talk as if you are not hiding anything away from me.” Rhodes stated.

“Are you making this discussion about me again?” Elodie asked.

“Yes, I’m keeping a lot from you. But what about you?”

“What about me?” She questioned.

“Have you been completely true to me?”

“Yes.” She replied.

“Oh, really?” He tilted his head to the side. “Then who is Diamond’s biological father!?”

Elodie’s heart instantly stopped beating. She opened her mouth but no word came out of it.

“What, you can’t talk again? You know, I can easily find out about all of your secrets if I want to but I choose not to. Do you know why, because I want you to tell me about them yourself?” He sighed. “I am not the only one with a secret so stop acting like the victim.” He went upstairs.

Elodie dropped to the couch, breathing heavily as she silently began to cry.

MORNING????

Ca-ssANO’S MANSION★DIAMOND’S ROOM**

She slowly opened her eyes and surveyed her surroundings, she felt better than yesterday.

Slowly, everything started falling into place, she remembered going to her boss’s bedroom and falling asleep in his bed. He must have brou-ght her back here early this morning.

She also remembered the little conversation they had…

★“I want to forget about my past…”★

★“Then forget it. Forget about the past, Diamond.”★

‘He called me by my name!’ She squealed, smiling widely.

“Why are you so happy, nanny?”

“Argh!” Diamond screamed, falling off her bed.

Aurora grinned, showing off her small set of teeth. “Are you okay?”

“What the fuc-k are you doing in my room?” Diamond asked, placing her palm over her chest.

“Uhm, I was worried about you. By the way, what is the meaning of fuc-k ?”

The nanny bites her lower li-p, coming up to her feet.

“I was talking about the fork we use to eat pasta.”

“No. They have different pronunciations. And I can tell the difference. You were talking about something else, what is it?”

“You are still young to understand it, okay? When you come of age you will know what it means. But hey, don’t say that word to anybody, okay? And even if you do, I know nothing. Am I clear?”

“Okay?”

“Good. Now leave, I need to take a shower.”

“Hmm. Oh, dress nice. We are having girls hang out.” Aurora announced, excitedly.

“A girls hang out?” Diamond repeated.

“Yes. Me, you, Paige, and Aunt Lottie. I’m super excited about it.”

“I see. Who suggested it?”

“Me. I saw how sad you’ve been lately and it broke my heart. So I asked my father and he gave us his permission. Get ready to be shocked, nanny.” She took out a black credit card and waved it in the air. “He gave us his black card.”

“Oh my gosh.” Diamond dragged the card from the girl’s grip. “How rich is your father?”

Aurora shrugged. “I don’t know.”

“I can’t believe this. I love you.”

“Did you just say you love me?”

“No, I was talking to the card.”

“Oh.”

“Leave so that I can get dressed immediately. We need to leave on time because it’s Saturday and it will be quite busy today.”

“Okay.”

“I will hold the card, just so it is saved.”

“No p.” The girl skipped out of the room.

“Yes, yes, yes.” Diamond’s fist bumped the air. “I should make up some list of the things I want to get. Oh, God. This is the best day of my life!”

She entered the bathroom after dropping the card on the table.

****

BATHROOM**

The water cascaded from her head to her toes.

Diamond closed her eyes and then the dream she had came back to her.

★“What are you doing? Run. He is coming. Diamond, run.”★

She slowly opened her eyes.

‘Was it Lottie calling out to me? Why are the faces blurry?’ She shook her head. ‘Don’t do this, Diamond. You have to forget about the past. You must forget it.’ She let out a de-ep breath. ‘I have to take my mind off certain things. I will simply spend some great time with the kid and Paige…should I ask Zara to join the girls’ outing. There is a lot of money to cover whatever expenses. Yes, I’m going to invite Zara.’ She grinned. “I can’t wait!”

‡Cli-p OF THE PAST‡

A teenage girl of sixteen can be seen in the scene, crying profusely as she struggled to push the guy hovering over her away.

She couldn’t see his face because she was blindfolded.

“It will hurt more if you keep struggling.” The guy snarled, tearing off her dress, and unbuckled his belt as well.

“Please don’t do this. I beg you.” She pleaded.

“You will enjoy it, trust me. All you just have to do is stay still. Okay?” He pulled out his dic-k and shove it inside her p**sy without warning.

“Ahhh.” She screamed in pain.

“Oh, fuc-k .” He gro-aned, diving in and out of her repeatedly. “You are so…tight.”

The girl continued crying while the guy used her body for his plea-sure. He ra-ped her, taking away her dignity, her pride, and her vi-rginity.

By the time he was done, he spilled his seed inside her and pulled away, grinning like a maniac.

“Didn’t you enjoy it, huh?” He put back on his trouser and stood up to his feet. “fuc-k , you are amazing.”

The girl was gradually losing consciousness.

“I should take off her blindfold.” He did as he said and smirked when he saw how weak she was to keep her eyes open. “Elodie, thank you for the s-ex. It was amazing. Muah.” He pecked her on the li-ps.

She tirelessly opened her eyes but he’d already turned away. All she saw was a scar in form of an arc on his right cheek.

How does he know her name? She wondered.

She closed her eyes, almost succu-mbing to the darkness when she heard another voice. It wasn’t the guy who ra-ped her but some other guy.

“Let’s get out of here.” He said.

“Yeah.”

She peeled her eyes opened and saw two human figures running out of the place, leaving her alone to clean up the mess that they created.
