FELIX’S HOUSE**

“What did he do?”

“He was very pissed when he left here and Layla followed him immediately. And like I said, I’ve been trying her number but she’s not answering.”

“But you know I warned you and Layla to stop fooling around. She was married and yet you were both fuc-k ing.” Harold said.

Felix rolled his eyes. “Please don’t start. I’m already dying of guilt, okay?”

“You always choose to be blind when it comes to seeing the truth.”

“Stop it, Harold.” He yelled, coming up to his feet. “I am fuc-k ing going crazy. The whole world appears to be against me. Do you think I don’t feel stupid? Do you think I am not sorry for what I did in the past? I hurt Diamond, remember? I cheated on her and then lied to her father. Layla stood by me. She loved me unconditionally and let me use her like I freaking own her when I don’t. I took her love for granted. I took everyone for granted and I hate myself for that. So please,” He paused. “don’t make me feel any worse than I already do.” He snatched his phone from the couch and walked towards the front door.

“Where are you going to?” Harold asked.

“I can’t sit here and do nothing. I need to be sure that Layla is okay. For some reason, I feel something is wrong with her.”

Harold hurriedly stood up. “I’m coming with you.”

HOSPITAL**

Daria sat in the waiting room, tears streaming down her face.

She blames herself for all this.

If only she never told Sir Diego the truth, all this wouldn’t have happened.

She should have just minded her damn business and done the job she was paid for as a maid and not a spy.

“God, please don’t let anything bad happen to Ma’am Layla. Please.” She pleaded.

Layla’s phone started ringing, and the maid who was in possession of it took it out of her handbag and answered the call on seeing the caller ID.

“Layla, where did you keep your phone, I’ve been_”

“This is Daria.” The maid said, cutting Felix off.

“Daria? What are you doing with your madam’s phone?”

“She can’t take any calls for now, sir.”

“Why not? Where is she?”

“She is in the hospital.”

“Hospital? What the fuc-k is she doing in the hospital? What did Diego do to her?”

“Sir Diego didn’t do anything. They got into a heated argument and he left the house after saying he wouldn’t come back again. Ma’am Layla was in so much pain, she fainted while yelling for him to stay.” She explained. “I blame myself.”

Felix chose to ignore her last sentence. “Which hospital did you take her to? I’m on my way there.”

“Rainbow hospital. It is owned by our family doctor.” She replied.

“Rainbow hospital got it. I will be right there.” He hung up the call.

Ca-ssANO’S MANSION★DIAMOND’S ROOM**

Dr. Bernardo injected a sedative into the drip and turned to face Mikhail.

“All she needs right now is rest. She will be fine, you have nothing to worry about.”

“Who said I was worried about her? I was only showing an employee a little kindness and that’s even because of my daughter.” Mikhail explained.

Bernardo stared at him in shock. “You never try to explain yourself, Mr. Ca-ssano. It’s very shocking to hear you splatter all those things in an attempt to defend yourself.”

“I am not defending myself. In fact, you are right. Why am I explaining myself to you?”

Bernardo laughed. “I like this old side of you. It shows that you are not completely lost.”

Mikhail did not say anything.

“I should get going. I have a lot to do in the hospital.” He packed up his bags.

“Okay. I will see you off.”

“Sure.”

They both left the room.

A few minutes later, Lottie entered the room and strolled towards the bed where Diamond was still asleep.

“Diamond…” She called out quietly. “You should be dead. You fuc-k ing should be dead. How are you still alive?”

The door opened and Evelyn walked in.

“Lottie, what are you doing here?”

“Mind your business, old woman.” She snarled and stormed out in anger.

“What is wrong with her?” Evelyn thought out loud.

She sighed and went to reduce the air conditioner.

The boss had asked her to do so.

She watched Diamond closely and let out a breath.

“She looks so much like Diamond. Her positive vibes, her beauty, her smile…how can one look so much like someone else? Not only that, they even bear the same name. What are the chances of this possibility?” She paused. “The boss has never worried about anyone since the death of his late wife aside from his daughter, of course. But today, he worried about someone that isn’t his daughter after all these years. And I feel so happy to know that his old self is still in there somewhere.” She reached out to hold the nanny’s hand. “And I have you to thank for it.”

GARDEN**

“Am I the only one who noticed the fear and worry in the boss when he saw Miss Chase in that condition?” Boaz questioned.

Marcello rolled his eyes. “You’ve been asking that question for a while now and I keep saying, “no, you weren’t the only one.’ Now, shut up.”

“You are so rude and annoying.”

“Thanks for the compliment.” He scoffed.

It was silent.

“Do you think the boss is in love with the nanny?”

“What?”

“I’m just asking.”

“That’s a very dumb question. He was only worried because of the nanny’s identity. She is the only one who can get us to that Octavius bastard. If she dies today, we are back to level one.”

“Oh. That’s true. I forgot.”

“Of course, you did.”

“What are the both of you doing here?” Paige’s voice interrupted them.

“Oh, fuc-k .” Boaz was startled. “Paige,”

She faced Marcello, ignoring Boaz. “Hi, Marcello.”

Marcello smiled and waved a little. “How are you doing?”

“I am fine. You?”

“Me too.” He answered.

“So, you haven’t answered my question. What are you doing here?”

“We came here to_” Boaz began but she cut him off.

“I wasn’t talking to you, Boaz.”

Paige has decided to play the make-him-jealous card. She doesn’t know if she was playing the card well but she hope it would make him realize her feelings for him and she also needed to know if he felt the same way for her.

“Oh. I’m sorry.” He put his hands up in surrender, looking away.

Marcello observed the both of them and frowned. “Are you two having a misunderstanding?”

“No,” Paige answered before Boaz could. “Anyway, Marcello, answer my question.”

“Well, we came out here for fresh air. How is the nanny?”

“She hasn’t woken up but I’m sure she will be fine.” She stared at the time on her phone screen and sighed. “I should go now.”

“Where are you going?” Marcello asked.

“I need to pick Aurora up from school.” She replied, already walking away. “See you around.”

“Sure!”

She left the garden and went to the parking lot to meet the driver, Ricco.

As soon as she was out of sight, Marcello glanced at Boaz.

“Are the both of you okay?”

Boaz shrugged. “I think she’s mad at me and I don’t know why. That reminds me, have you confessed your feelings to her?”

Marcello shook his head. “No. I don’t know how to go about it.”

“You are cold towards me but warm towards her.” He chuckled. “You are whipped, big man.”

“Sometimes I used to ask myself, why do I have serious conversations with you when you are this stupid?”

“Ouch, that burn.”

“Idiota.” Marcello stood up and walked away.

Boaz stared after him until he was out of sight.

The smile on his face dropped and was replaced with a de-ep frown.

He was hurt by the way Paige treated him.

Yes, she likes Marcello but he wished that wasn’t the case. He wished he had a chance with her. But who was he kidding? She is meant for Marcello and not him.

“Ugh. Why did I have to fall for her? You fuc-k ed up, Boaz.” He said to himself.

HOSPITAL**

Felix and Harold rushed inside the hospital and went straight to the nurse seated behind a white desk.

“Good afternoon.” Felix greeted.

“Good afternoon, sir. How may I help you?” She asked.

“Is there anyone named Layla Maxwell who rushed here this morning?” He asked.

“Layla Maxwell…please hold on.” She went throu-ghthe chart of every patient rushed to the hospital this morning. “Oh, yes. There is. I’m sorry but who are you to her?”

“A friend.” He answered.

“Is that man with you?” She gestured at Harold.

“Yes.”

“Okay. She’s in ward 15. You will go throu-ghthat hallway,” she pointed. “the tenth door at your right side.” She directed.

“Okay, thank you.” Felix and Harold quickly left.

WARD 15**

Daria was ma-ssaging her madam’s swollen legs when the door flung open.

She sharply turned to see who it was and slowly stood up to her feet.

“Mr. Felix,” She called softly so as not to wake Layla.

Felix rushed to the bed. “How is she?”

“She’s fine.”

“What did the doctor say?”

“The test result hasn’t come out yet.”

“Hmm. fuc-k . I’m sorry, Layla. This is all my fault.” He whispered.

“No, it is my fault.” Daria said. “I should never have told Sir Diego the truth. I should have kept my mouth shut.” She stared at Felix. “I’m sorry.”

“You don’t have to apologize to me. Layla and I were both wrong and even if you didn’t tell your boss, he would have still found out one way or another. This secret wasn’t something we could have kept forever.”

Harold watched his friend and smiled. “You’ve really changed, Felix. Did the beating you got from Diamond’s father reset your brains?”

“Now is not the right time to talk about that, Harold.” Felix gro-aned.

There was a knock and then the door opened. The doctor came inside and surveyed the room, creasing his brows when he saw Felix.

“What are you doing here?” He asked.

“I am here to see Layla. Please don’t send me out.”

“She’s married and you know that.”

“Yes. I am only here as a friend and nothing more.”

“You know this is all your fault. If you had kept your dic-k in place, she wouldn’t be suffering now, and neither would my friend.” He spat angrily.

Felix nodded. “I know.”

The doctor pinched the bridge of his nose, sighing. “Their marriage is on the verge of breaking apart and…” He paused. “and I wish it won’t end like this especially not in a time like this.”

“A time like this?” Felix repeated. “What do you mean?”

The doctor waved a brown envelope in the air and then moved his gaze to Layla’s stomach.

“They are expecting.”

“Expecting what?” Harold asked.

“I’m sorry, who are you?”

“He is my friend, more like a brother to me,” Felix answered.

“I see.”

“What do you mean by they are expecting? Expecting what?”

“I shouldn’t be telling you this but if informing you would make you feel much worse than you already do then you should know. Layla is pregnant.”

Everyone’s eyes went wide. “Layla is pregnant?”

“Yes. She’s three weeks pregnant. Hope you didn’t fuc-k her during that period because I can’t check the paternity of the child yet and even if I can, it’s wrong to do such without the parents’ consent.”

Felix calculated the date in his head. “No.”

The doctor heaved out a breath of relief. “Then the baby belongs to Diego.”

“Speaking of Diego,” Felix faced Daria. “Didn’t you call him to inform him about his wife? Does he know she’s in the hospital?”

“I tried reaching out to him but his phone has been switched off.”

“You are his friend, I’m sure you know of his whereabouts.” He said to the doctor.

“I haven’t spoken to him either.”

“Oh, really? Wait, how then did you know…” He stopped talking as realization hit him and he look at Daria who had her head lowered. “You told him.”

“Uhm. I’m sorry. He asked and_”

“Shut up. What is wrong with you? Were you just naturally born with a big mouth?”

“Don’t talk to her like that. I forced her to talk.” The doctor said. “Anyway, Layla needs rest.” He left the ward, afterward.

BFF’S APARTMENT**

It was late in the evening when Zara decided to leave her room.

She descended the stairs and went inside the kitchen where she found Ayden preparing dinner.

Ayden immediately noticed her presence and smiled.

“Hey.”

“Hi.”

“Here, I made this for you.” He pa-ssed a cup of hot chocolate to her. “I would have made pancakes but I’m sorry, I’m not as good as Diamond.”

“Oh, please. Diamond learned from the best, remember? There is no way we can compete with her when it comes to pancakes.” Zara said, smiling.

“That’s true.” He watched her take a sip from the cup. “How is it?”

“It’s delicious. Do you have magic in your hands?”

“I think I do.” He joked and they both laughed. “So, how do you feel now?”

Zara shrugged. “Alive.” She glanced at the door.

“You don’t have to worry. He left thirty minutes ago. I can’t believe he would stay that long to have you listen to him.”

She rolled her eyes, not saying anything.

“Zara, are you not going to tell me what happened between the both of you?”

“I don’t want to talk about it. However, Sean simply proved to me that Diamond has been always right. Men are sc*m. They are trash and are never satisfied with one p**sy. I should have known he is no different from Felix.”

“Okay, that was…hurtful.”

“I’m sorry. You are a man and I shouldn’t have said all of that about men. I’m sorry.”

“No, it’s okay.” Ayden wrapped his arms around her. “Did you listen to his explanation?”

“Are you kidding me?” She snapped, pulling away from his embrace. “Why should I listen to him, huh? What explanation does he probably have if not stupid excuses?”

“He might be innocent, Zara. Sean doesn’t seem like the kind of guy that would hurt you on purpose.”

“That was the same thing we thought of Felix.”

“Oh, no. I knew right from the get-go that Felix was a douchebag.”

Zara sighed. “I don’t care. I just don’t want to have anything to do with Sean again. And please, respect my decision. If he comes here, don’t open the door.” She instructed.

Ayden hesitated. “O-kay.”

She embraced him. “Thank you.”

“Hmm.” He dropped a ki-ss on her head.

“Come to think of it,” She pulled away from him. “did you call Diamond?”

Ayden nodded. “I did but she didn’t pick.”

“I guess she’s busy.”

“Yeah, I guess so too.”

NIGHT

DIAMOND’S ROOM**

†Nightmare†

It was dark and quiet.

The only sound that can be heard was the rattle of the iron gate door.

The aura of the place was scary and uncomfortable.

The faces were blurry but the figures of humans were clear.

Two girls were seated on the floor and a man stood in front of them. He was holding a weapon in his hand.

In the blink of an eye, she was no longer in the prison but on a bush path.

She was running. Her legs and body ache but that didn’t make her stop running.

Suddenly, she knocked her foot against a huge branch and fell to the ground.

“Ow!” She hissed in pain, tears rolling down her blurry face.

“What are you doing? Run. He is coming. Diamond, run!”

***

Diamond snapped her eyes open, breathing heavily as she glanced around the room.

She was frightened, cold, and covered with sweat.

The nanny shot up to her feet and left the room.

She walked down the hall until she found the particular door she was looking for.

She continuously knocked on the door until someone opened it from inside.

Mikhail stood there, shirtless, and stared at his daughter’s nanny, perplexed.

What was she doing here? She should be sleeping in her room.

“I…” She stumbled closer to him and almost fell but he caught her.

“You should be sleeping in your room. Are you okay?”

She shook her head. “I..need you.” She fell unconscious once again in his arms.

‡Cli-p OF THE PAST‡

“Please don’t kill me.” The brunette girl cried.

“Shush.” The man gave out a creepy smile. “I’m not going to kill you. I only want to have fun with you and your dear sister.” He nodded his head at the girl with black hair.

“Ple…please.” The two girls sobbed har-der .

“Hey, don’t make this ha-rd on yourselves. Trust me, you are going to have so much fun as well.”
