BFF’S APARTMENT**

Zara entered the house, looking very sad and dejected.

She dropped her bag on the floor, took off her shoes, and went to sit down on the couch.

Ayden came out of the kitchen and saw how carelessly Zara left her things on the floor.

He was kinda surprised because she wasn’t the type to leave her bag on the floor and her shoes. Diamond was the guilty one.

“Zara,” He approached her. “are you okay?”

She did not answer.

“Zara…”

They heard the ringing of the bell followed by loud ban-ging on the door.

“ZARA, PLEASE LISTEN TO ME.” It was Sean’s voice.

Ayden furrowed his brows as he stared in between Zara and the door.

“Uh, is there something I should know?” He asked.

Zara remained quiet.

Ayden decided to go and open the door but Zara caught hold of his wrist.

“Don’t.” She whispered, tears rolling down her face.

“Huh?”

She sniffled. “Please don’t open the door.”

Immediately, Ayden knew something was wrong.

He quickly sat down beside his best friend and observed her carefully.

“What did Sean do?” He asked.

Zara bites her lower li-p, more tears trailing down her face.

“Zara, please talk to me. What happened?”

“He…” She cried. “He…” She stood up to her feet and rushed upstairs, disappearing into her bedroom.

Sean was still knocking on the door but that was the least of Ayden’s problems. His best friend was in pain and that got him on edge.

FELIX’S HOUSE**

“Please pick up the call.” He mumbled, holding his phone against his ear as he paced back and forth in the house.

Since Layla left his house after her husband, Felix has been trying to reach her but she was not answering the calls.

He was worried sick about her and he likewise want to know the situation on ground over there.

There was a knock on the door.

“Who is it?”

“It’s me, Harold.”

“Harold?” Felix went to open the door. He looked so shocked to see his friend. “Harold, what are you doing here?”

“You should usher me in first before asking that question.”

“Ah, yes. Forgive my manners. Come in, please.”

Harold walked inside and looked around whilst stuffing his hands inside his pocket.

“What are you doing here? It’s been a while.” Felix said, shutting the door.

Harold shrugged. “I know, right? I went to Texas for a business trip. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you about it.”

“Hmm. You probably didn’t because I was a jerk, right?”

“No, please don’t think like that. You might be a jerk but you are also my friend. I was going to call you after getting to Texas but I had a lot of work to do and couldn’t make personal calls. I’m sorry.”

Felix waved him off. “It’s fine.”

“So how have things been with you?”

“Complicated. You don’t wanna hear the full details, trust me.” He dialed Layla’s number one more time.

“What happened to your face?” Harold asked.

“I got the reward for lying.”

“Let me guess, Diamond told her father the truth and he beat you up for it?”

“Smarta-ss. Well, yeah. And please don’t say ‘I told you so.’ I’ve admitted to my mistakes and I have figured out how stupid and dumb I was to think Diamond would just play along with my lies and deceit without having a motive.” He said, rolling his eyes.

“Hmm. What about Layla?”

Felix sighed, trying her number again. “I’ve been trying to reach out to her but she’s not answering my calls. I am worried sick about her.”

Harold frowned. “What happened? Is she okay?”

“Uhm,” He dropped his phone on the table and ran his palms over his face, gro-aning. “Something happened earlier today.”

“Okay? I’m listening.”

“You might want to sit down to hear all of it.”

“Alright.” Harold quickly sat down on the couch while Felix sat down opposite. “Start talking, I’m all ears.”

A long silence fell between the both of them.

Harold patiently awaited his friend to start talking while Felix took his time.

“He found out about us.”

Harold creased his brows, confused. “Huh? Who are you talking about?”

“Diego.”

“Holy shit!”

*****

DIEGO’S HOUSE**

“Diego, please hear me out first.” She tried to touch him.

“I said don’t touch me!” He snapped, shooting daggers at her. “You cheating wh*re. I should hear you out first?” He scoffed. “What do you have to say, huh? Answer me.”

“I swear it’s not what you think. I…”

“I don’t want to hear your fuc-k ed up explanation because they are only excuses to scale your way throu-gh. What am I to you? A fool?”

She shook her head, crying. “No. You are not a fool. I’m the fool. I made a mistake. I…”

He cut her off again. “I said I don’t want to hear any word from you. You shut up while I do the talking and ask you the questions.”

She clasped her mouth shut and nodded her head.

Diego clenched his fist, taking in a few de-ep breaths as he tried to put himself together and calm his nerves down.

“How long have you been fuc-k ing your best friend?” He threw the first question.

Layla did not say anything.

“Are you going to stay quiet or answer the damn question?” He growled.

“I…Listen,” She gulped nervously. “You see…”

“Answer the question, Layla. How long have you been fuc-k ing your best friend?” He asked again.

She hesitated. “Long before I met you.”

“Be specific.”

“Uhm,” She thought about it. “Six years?”

“Six…six years?” He repeated.

“I haven’t met you yet since Felix and I started seeing each other. Please believe me.”

He nodded his head, su-cking in a de-ep breath. “So tell me, did you stop after getting married to me?”

Layla lowered her gaze, more tears sli-pping down her face.

Diego knew what the answer was but he hoped she would say ‘Of course, not. As soon as I got married to you, Felix and I stopped seeing each other. I guess Daria had misunderstood the whole situation.’ However, he would be a big fool to expect words of denial from her.

“I’m sorry.” She whispered, squeezing her eyes shut.

A tear dropped down his face as the truth hit him ha-rd in his heart.

“Why?” He asked in a low voice.

She opened her eyes but was too embarra-ssed to meet his gaze.

“I have no excuse to…”

“Find one.” He cut her off, insisting.

She slowly look up at him and instantly regretted doing so. She saw the pain, sadness, anger, and heartbreak in his eyes and it was all her fault. She caused this. She hurt him. Does she deserve the forgiveness she was asking for?

She shook her head. “I don’t deserve an excuse.”

“Make up one. Tell me the reasons why you had to cheat on me with your supposed best friend. Go on, I’m listening.”

She stayed quiet for a long time and her husband patiently waited.

“I loved him.” She answered after the long wait.

Diego staggered back a little and held onto the wall beside him for balance.

“I loved Felix but I swear, that was all in the past. I don’t love him anymore. It’s you I love now and I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” She said.

“If Daria had not told me anything, would you have told me yourself?” He asked quietly.

Layla shook her head. “To be honest, no.”

“Wow. So what, you were willing to keep the secret till your grave, is that it?”

“I was afraid that if you knew about Felix and me, you would leave me. I don’t want to lose you, Diego. Please, I’m sorry.” She pleaded, going to her knees. “I’m really sorry. Forgive me, my love.”

“Don’t call me that.” He warned. “I…I can’t believe while I was working my a-ss out, you were busy fuc-k ing your best friend! You both must have laughed at me behind my back because I believed and trusted you.”

“No, we never laughed at you.” She stated.

“What, you think that would make me feel any better?”

“No. I love you Diego and I know I don’t deserve you but…”

He nodded his head in agreement. “You are right. You don’t deserve me. Do you know how much I love you? I am ready to give up the whole world for your sake. Did you really think I helped your family business in exchange for marrying you?” He shook his head. “Nah, I helped the business because of the love I have for you! And do you know what is more painful?, if you deny not fuc-k ing Felix even after I heard you both conversation…” He paused. “I would believe you. I don’t care about being regarded as an idiot. I just want to be with the love of my life.”

“Then have me, Diego. Please don’t leave me.”

“I should have you?” He chuckled bitterly, ruffling his hair. “I feel so disgusted staring at you right now. You irritate me.” Layla’s heart stopped beating as soon as she heard his last words. “I’m sure you think that I never suspected you and Felix. Well, I did. And each time I do, I beat myself up for not trusting you enough and for thinking so low of you. One thing that builds a marriage up after love is trust. I chose to be blind so that our marriage can last forever but fuc-k ing hell, who am I kidding? There is no forever between the both of us.”

“No, no, no. Please don’t say that, Diego. Please.” She sobbed har-der .

“I hate you right now.” He headed for the door.

“Diego, don’t leave me. I beg of you.”

“I don’t want to see your face when I return, Layla. Or no, I will leave for you.” He grabbed his car keys and left the house.

Layla followed him outside, pleading for him to stay.

Diego clambered into his car and drove out of the compound at high speed.

“DIEGO!” She screamed and plopped to the ground, crying painfully. The pain in her chest has become too heavy for her to bear. She felt like the whole world has left her. Actually, with Diego gone…her whole world has left her.

“Ma’am,” Daria called from behind, looking very sad and guilty. “I’m sorry.”

Layla felt so lightheaded and dizzy. Her head was spinning in a circle and she could barely look around.

“Ma’am, are you okay?” Daria asked, kneeling beside Layla and holding her up so she wouldn’t fall.

“D…Daria,” Layla weakly called out, her eyes gradually dropping close. “Br…bring my hus…husband back.” And she fell unconscious in her maid’s arms.

“Ma’am, please open your eyes.” Daria pleaded, crying. “Don’t die. Please.”

BFF’S APARTMENT**

“Zara, open the door.” Ayden said, knocking.

She did not answer.

“I can hear you crying in there, open the door, please. You are getting me worried. What happened? What did Sean do?” He questioned, still knocking.

“Go away. I want to be left alone.” Zara cried out.

“I won’t leave until you tell me what’s going on.” He paused. “If you don’t open the door, I’m going to break my way in.” He threatened. But he knew for a fact that the threat wasn’t going to work on her. “Zara, please open the door.” He pleaded.

“I WANT TO BE ALONE. JUST LEAVE ME.” She entered the bathroom and slammed the door shut.

Ayden let out a de-ep sigh and pulled his phone out of his pocket.

He dialed Diamond’s number. It rang but went to voicemail.

“Ugh. Where did you fuc-k ing keep your phone, Diamond?” He gro-aned, going downstairs.

Ca-ssANO’S MANSION★KITCHEN**

(A/N: Diamond left her phone in the room which is why she wasn’t able to answer Ayden’s call)

“You look like shit right now.” Paige remarked, handing a cup of coffee to the nanny.

“I was going to say the same thing but with a different choice of words, of course.” Evelyn said.

Diamond heaved out a de-ep breath, taking a sip of steaming coffee.

“Thank you, Paige.” She smiled.

“You’re welcome. I noticed you needed it. What’s going on with you?”

“Nothing.”

“Don’t you dare say nothing.” Evelyn said, standing in front of Diamond. “You’ve barely said a word today and I know you, Miss Chase. You talk too much.”

“I do?”

“Yes.” Paige and Evelyn answered in unison.

“Oh.”

“That’s not the point right now. You’ve been lost in your thoughts and any time I touch you, you flinch in shock or fear. What’s happening?” Paige questioned.

Diamond bites her lower li-p and took a small drop of coffee. “Honestly,” She began in a low voice. “I have a lot on my mind.”

“We can see that.” Evelyn nodded.

“And it’s confusing, complex, and scary.”

“Scary? How do you mean?” The young maid queried.

“You won’t understand because…I don’t understand either. It feels like my memory is incomplete. I’m forgetting vital information about my life.”

“Wait, you think you lost a memory of your past?” Paige asked.

Diamond nodded. “Yes. That sounds crazy, right?”

“Uh…somehow. Don’t you remember your childhood days or something?”

“Now that’s the point. I remember them. I remember my childhood best friend, my mother, and how she treated me. I remember every single detail well, aside from ‘that day’ I purposely don’t want to remember.” She stated.

“What day are you talking about?” Evelyn asked.

“No, I don’t want to talk about it. It’s scary and I want to forget.” She said, taking another gulp of coffee with trembling hands.

★“Whenever you are in the dark, Just know I’m coming for you.”★

His menacing dark voice brou-ght chills down her spine.

Diamond grasp the edge of the counter, breathing heavily as she closed her eyes.

Paige and Evelyn watched her closely, brows furrowed in the utmost confusion

“I…I can’t breathe.” Diamond said, dropping down to the floor and in the process, the cup of coffee sli-pped off her fingers and broke into pieces.

“Ahh, Miss Chase.” Paige screamed and ran towards Diamond. “Are you okay?”

Evelyn also stood beside them. “What’s happening to her?”

“I don’t know. Miss Chase?”

Diamond clutched her chest tightly, fear clouding her senses.

★“You can’t run away from me, honey.”★

★“Scream all you want, no one is coming to save you.”★

★“Be a good girl and do as I say.”★

★“Whenever you are in the dark, just know I am coming for you.”★

Why were his words back?

What does he want from her again?

“GET OUT OF MY HEAD!” Diamond screamed, hitting her head repeatedly as she started crying.

“Miss Chase, what’s going on?”

“He is here. He wants to take me away.” She blabbered, crying profusely.

“Who is here? What are you saying?” Evelyn asked, worriedly.

The kitchen door opened and Lottie came inside.

She stared at the scene in front of her.

“What’s wrong with the nanny?” she asked.

“I don’t know.” Paige answered while crying as well.

Lottie approached them quietly and glanced down at Diamond.

“Get him away from me. Please don’t let him take me.” She pleaded.

“Nobody is here, Miss Chase.” Evelyn a-ssured.

“Evelyn is right. Nobody is here. No one is going to take you.” Paige added.

Lottie creased her brows as she watched Diamond, quietly.

“No…no…” Diamond repeatedly shook her head.

She was not in the dark so why were his words back?

She could feel his presence.

Diamond frantically looked around and her gaze fell upon Lottie.

Her face dropped as she caught a glimpse of a memory.

★FLASHBACK★

“Hi, I’m Lottie.” The face of the girl was blurry but her brunette hair made her stand out.

She stretched her hand out to Diamond whose face was also blurry for a handshake.

“I’m Diamond.”

“Diamond…” The little girl nodded her head firmly. “Do you want to be my sister?”

★END OF FLASHBACK★

“Sis…sister?” Diamond choked out, still staring at Lottie. “You know me.”

The nanny fell flat on the floor. She was almost losing consciousness when she heard a voice that instantly eased her fears and made her feel safe.

“What’s going on here?” Mikhail asked as he walked in with Marcello and Boaz.

Paige and Evelyn exchanged glances, both afraid that the boss would tell Marcello to lock the nanny up until she wakes up and gets punished for creating an unnecessary scene.

Lottie didn’t move an inch or say a word. Her gaze was fixed on the nanny who was slowly losing consciousness.

“I said what’s going on here!?” Mikhail demanded.

“It’s…” Paige pointed at Diamond, shaking. “It’s Miss Chase. She…she…”

Mikhail did not wait for the maid to go on. He rushed towards Diamond and wrapped his arms around her tiny body.

“What’s wrong?” He asked, staring down at her.

Diamond tirelessly looked up at him, breathing weakly. “He…he is back.”

For the first time since she met this cold-hearted man holding her to himself, she was able to read his emotions. He was damn good at hiding his emotions but not this time around. She saw worry and something else in his eyes.

Something she couldn’t quite figure out.

“Keep your eyes open.” He yelled, ignoring the glances from his employees and Lottie.

Fear…

That was something else he had in his eyes.

Diamond’s eyes closed as she succu-mbed to the darkness, shutting the world out.

“Open your eyes.” Mikhail ordered, urging her to wake up but she wasn’t responding. “Marcello, call the family doctor over, immediately.” He scooped the nanny into his arms. “Get out of my way!” He instructed and everyone quickly stayed apart. He walked throu-ghthe space they had created and stormed out of the kitchen.

Marcello took out his phone and dialed Dr. Bernardo’s number, stepping out as well alongside Boaz.

“What just happened?” Paige asked no one in particular.

Lottie who haven’t said a word faced Evelyn and whispered. “What is the name of…the nanny?”

“Uh, Miss Chase?”

“Her name. Not her last name. Her name.” She snapped.

Evelyn lowered her gaze and sighed.

“Diamond.” Paige answered. “Diamond Chase.”

Lottie gasped out in shock, her eyes wide open.

★“Hi, I’m Lottie.”★

★“I’m Diamond.”★

★“Have you seen this child before?”★

★“Where did you get the picture from? Where did you get Diamond’s picture from!?”★

“She’s Diamond. She’s…” Lottie ran out of the kitchen.

“Okay, what is going on in this house today?”

*****

LOTTIE’S ROOM**

★“Open your eyes!”★

She saw the fear in Mikhail’s eyes. He was scared because of the nanny’s condition.

★“What is the name of the nanny?”★

★“Diamond. Diamond Chase.”★

Lottie screamed and knocked down the body lotions, creams, and make-up on the cosmetic table.

★“Have we ever met before? I don’t know, but it feels like I know you.”★

★“Look at this girl, have you seen her before?”★

★“Where did you get this picture from? Where did you get Diamond’s picture from!?”★

★“Hi, I’m Diamond.”★

★“Diamond…Do you want to be my sister?”★

★“Sis…sister. You know me.”★

(A/N: JUST SO YOU KNOW, THESE ARE FLASHBACKS/MEMORIES OF DIFFERENT EVENTS. I’M SURE YOU REMEMBER WHERE EACH WORD WAS SAID. PLEASE DON’T CONFUSE YOURSELVES.)

“Why are you here, Diamond? Why!?”

★Cli-p OF THE PAST★

A hulking man walked down a dark hallway, humming to the tune of crazy psychopath. (A/n:I don’t know if there is any song named that, pardon me????)

He was holding a knife in his hand. He looked super excited over something.

He finally got to an iron gate door. It was dark and smelly. The man inse-rted a key and opened the door.

He stepped inside, plastering a wicked grin on his face.

In the dark empty room, there were two little girls tied up on the floor. They were both whimpering.

One has brunette hair and the other has black hair.

“Well, well, well. Where were we, sweethearts?”

TBC.
