I stop in front of my apa-rtment that I don’t use as much as I’m supposed to and Jayden climbs down my bike first before I do the same.
“How many places do you own?” Jayden asks when we walk towards the entrance. We walk to the elevator and I press four before I answer.
“Only here.
I sold the other one when I found this place. It’s convenient.
” I say and he only hums. The elevator stops seconds later and we step out. There are only two apa-rtments in this floor and I’ve never cared to know who lives in the other one.
All I know it’s an old man who moved in weeks before I did.
I walk to my white door on the right and let Jayden get in first. “Welcome to my humble home.”
I say uninterested as I walk to the impressive kitchen and drink a gl@$$ of water. I look towards the kitchen door to find Jayden standing there and watching me, his hands crossed in front of his che-st.
That makes them look larger. “What? You’re free to check the fridge.” I say. He walks towards the fridge that’s behind me and takes a gl@$$ in the cu-pboard next to it and fills it with water too.
“I’ll show you to your room.” I say and remember he has no spare clothes and I have no spare essentials.
As I said, this is a home for convenience. I go shopping once in every two to three months.
“If you nee-d a bath, you’ll have to use my soap. I’ll check if I have a spare toothbrush somewhere.” I state walking away.
“Only the toothbrush will do. Can I borrow your bike tomorrow morning and pick up some things?” He asks still in the kitchen.
“Won’t you nee-d your car later on?” I ask in the cabinet un-der the staircase as I take out some blankets for him to use.
“Then will you drop me off. I have a bike too and I can take it.” He says and I only shrug.
“And now I’m your role model?” I tease and he sm-irks.
“You wish. You just reminded me of the thri-ll and I haven’t had time to use it. Now I can.” He says and I nod.
“Come let me show you to your room.” I say again and he follows me.
“I’m down the hall if you nee-d me.” I say getting out after making sure he’s comfortable.
“And is this bathroom connected to your room? I wouldn’t mind another show anytime soon.”
He says as he chuckles. I had forgotten that incident Jayden saw me stark Na-ked when I got into the bathroom. I don’t mind walking Na-ked in my room.
“Sorry to destroy your dreams Jay but that was the first and last time.” I say walking away but I can almost here him sm-irk.

“Hi, Jada. It’s Linda Kate.” Linda says throu-ghthe phone.
“Yes Linda.” I respond.
“You asked me what Jake gave me before he p@$$ed away.
These headphones that I have. He gave me a month before he p@$$ed when I graduated. Are those helpful?” She asks and I feel a small smile form.
They could be what I’m looking for.
“Yeah. I’ll pick them up later today and you’ll have them back in no time.” I say.
“Okay. You’ll just tell me where and I’ll bring them.” She says before hanging up.
I walk towards Jayden whose now in a pair of denim jeans, a white tee and a royal blue coat while I’m in a black romper and white heels. We’re acting like a loving couple as we follow Noel Scott.
The person was Jacob’s best friend but pa-rted ways a few months before Jacob’s death.
We followed him to a restaurant that luckily enough didn’t nee-d reservations to get in. Jayden places his hand on my back and he whispers to me.
“On the left with a woman.” He says close to my ear and I smile as if he said something funny. I see a table where we can watch him perfectly and I lead Jayden to it.
“I’m sure that woman will stand and leave to the bathroom and I will follow her. You’ll go to him and try starting up a conversation.”
I instruct him. He nods just and takes my hand to his mouth and kizzes it just as a waiter stops in front of our table.
“I’ll have some chicken salad.” I say and turn my eyes to Noel Scott as I see the woman hand something to him. The woman gets up and I signal Jayden before doing the same.
Just as she turns, our blue green eyes meet. Alexis.
She looks beside me to see Jayden who’s also looking at her in shock.
I place a wide fake smile and wave at her innocently. She looks between Jayden and I then turns to Noel Scott and says something to him.
Noel gets up and walks towards the exit as Alexis walks to us.
“Hey guys, what are you doing here?” She asks and Jayden takes my hand.
“Where here on a date.” He says confidently and Alexis looks between us just as the food arrives.
“Want to join us?” I ask innocently but she shakes her head negatively and looks down to her phone.
“I have to be at work in two hours and we have a shoot so I can’t be late. Sarah is getting stricter as days p@$$.” She says and we nod. Jayden doesn’t say anything but starts eating and Alexis leaves.
“I knew we could never trust her.” Jayden spits and I hum. What was that that Alexis gave Noel?
“She could be waiting outside to see if we’ll get out so let’s just eat. He gave Noel the headstart so he might be anywhere.” I say and start eating my salad.
“As much as this is delicious, I could have ordered some steak just as you did.” I say and Jayden sm-irks.
“Your mind was elsewhere.” He states and I nod.
We nee-d to find out what Alexis gave Noel.” I say and Jayden lets out a breath.
“Let’s just eat first. I’m so hungry I could order for more.” He says and I agree. “And by the way, I nee-d you to start teaching me how to fight. I’ll be with you for sometime and I can’t be useless.”
He says and I nod.
“So you mean with all that muscle you can’t fight?” I tease.
“Nope.” He says mischievously. “And I want YOU to teach me your ways mistress.” He winks and I let out a laugh.
“You are helpless.” I say when I’m done laughing.
“You mean helplessly handsome?” He asks and I roll my eyes.
“I’ve seen a handful of handsome men but they were all taken and so I decided I’ll die alone.” I say and that’s how we continue until we leave.
For once I forgot about work.
For once I forgot about stress.
For once I laughed without a care after six years.
I craved this life. A normal life. But I came to accept I can’t have it.
Maybe it’s karma for how I treated people in high school. How I pranked and looked down upon them.
Maybe asking for forgiveness wasn’t enough and I had to suffer just like I made them suffer.

“Jada. I’ve checked. Twice. But there’s nothing in there.” Cole says and I let out a long breath.
“Do you think that Jacob or his wife destroyed the chip before they died?” Cole asks a question that has been bugging me.
“We can’t know for sure and so we just have to search for it.
The killers seem too sure that it’s somewhere and so I won’t give up. Anything else?” I ask as I take the bag containing Linda’s headphones that Cole hands to me.
“Noel Scott lives in Jacaranda street 401.” He says typing in something rapidly in his computer.
A picture of a mansion shows and he prints it out. “That house to be precise.” It’s stated that Jacob and Lilian Williams bought the mansion and decided to gift it to him. It might seem like an act of kindness but it screams ‘suspicious’.”
He sings the suspicious pa-rt. I take the photo.
“Can you send me every information about the house?” I ask as I look at the beautiful mansion.
“Sure. I have it somewhere here saved.” I nod and thank him before living.
I get on my bike and drive to the mafia headquarters where I know Jayden is expecting me.
Twenty minutes later I give out my information as usual by the gate before getting in. I walk to Sydney’s office and ask where Jayden is but he only tells me that he’s looking around.
I call Jayden and tells me he’s near the gym where we the mafia members practice and perfect our skills.
I walk to the familiar place and find Jayden is alone and is using the treadmill. I walk up to him and stand beside him.
“I think this is the perfect time to know your fighting skill before I can teach you anything.”
I say as he continues his running. He does this for a solid minute and stops then stands in front of me eyeing my outfit from head to toe as he pa-nts. I concentrate on the sweat that makes him look so much hotter.
“Okay. Go and change as I warm up.” He says and I sm-irk.
“Don’t worry, I can fight in anything and this leather, is no exception. Now hurry up and let me kick your sorry @$$.” This time round he sm-irks before walking to the mats.
“How do I start?” He asks innocently and I let out a breath. Is he this hopeless?
“Okay. You can start by punching me.” I say standing straight and his I see his hands form a perfect fist.
Great. I nod and gesture for him to come and hit me using my two fingers and he comes hesitantly and tries throwing a weak punch and I laugh.
“You are so hopeless. Not even a punch Williams?” I chuckle. He smiles at me then exhales.
“Okay, I lied. I can hold myself well in a fight.” I sm-irk raising an eyebrow.
“Says the guy who can’t punch?” I taunt.
“Let’s start all over.” He says and gets into position but I continue standing.
He charges at me and and throws a strong punch towards my face and I block it just in time as I gasp in surprise.
He sm-irks at me while looking at me in my eyes. I unzi-p my jacket and throw it aside. Game on.
He charges at me this time with a kick and to my face but I duck it and punch his left side of the che-st but he blocks it. We continue doing this for a long time but none of us are ready to give up.
Jayden pa-nts as he continues fighting. Why did he lie about not knowing how to?
He throws a kick towards my right side and I use this opportunity to hold his heavy leg stopping it as I kick his left side with as much for-ce as I can releasing my frustration.
How could he lie to me? Jayden falls to his right and since I’m holding his leg I follow him and land on top of him. I move aside and lay beside him as we pa-nt trying to catch out breath.
“Why did you lie?” I ask still pa-nting. I hear clap just aside us and I raise my head to see a grinning Sydney and excited Isabella.
“That was one hell of a performance. Your ST is really thick.” Isabella says as she walks towards us.
“ST?” I ask looking at her confused. Jayden gets up and offers me a hand to gets up as well but I don’t take it and stand too. Gosh! I nee-d water.
“Yeah. se-xual Tension.” She says and starts laughing and Sydney grins beside her. I look towards Jayden and find he’s looking away as he puts on a tee but I’m sure he can hear.
“There’s no any kind of tension here. I’m just angry he lied to me about not knowing how fight.” I defend but Isabella purses her li-ps together pretending to zi-p it up.

Isabella starts singing li-ps are movin by Meghan Trainor as we walk out making me to start laughing.
“Sydney, your wife nee-ds help. Maybe a punch to the head might align everything as it should be.” I say and Isabella pouts.
“Hey, I have my uncles wedding to attend to in two days and I want to look perfect. You both should come too.” She says and I smile. She walks to me and hu-gs me.
“You stopped visiting me and the kids. And here I called you my friend.” She says and I look at her giving her a small smile in guilt.
“At least Sydney asked me to go clubbing with you for this case you’re doing.” She says and my eyes dart to boss who’s talking to Jayden.
“No honey, I didn’t ask you to. You for-ced me to let you go.” He says glancing at us and I smile.
“You’re both adorable.” I state. I look at my phone when I hear it ring but Isabella picks hers up and receives it. Oh, okay.
“Sydney. Calla’s throwing another tantrum. We nee-d to leave.” She says immediately the call ends. Calla is one of the two year old twins. We say our goodbyes and they leave in a hurry. Jayden walks to me cautiously and stands in front of me.
“We cool?” He asks.
“Not to make it a big deal but why would you lie? You are so damn good. I’ve never fought anyone that long.” I say waiting for an explanation.
“I nee-ded you to fight me.” He says his face straight. “I couldn’t just say, ‘hey Jada, let’s fight.'” I look at him in confusion.
“Why would you want us to fight?” I ask and he sm-irks.
“It was either that or let me fu**k you.” He says his voice low as he comes nearer to me as I step back.
“What?”
“Yeah. I nee-d to get you out of my system. Mrs Kings was right about the se-xual tension. It’s really killing me.” He says just as his li-ps are on mine aggressively.
He kizzes me and just as he’s about to pull away, I snake my hand around his shoulders and kizz him back with the same p@$$ion.
Our shared breath lessens until he pulls away from my li-ps and attacks my ne-ck.
This goes on for a minute until he kizzes at my sp-ot making me mo+an and at the same time making me come to my senses and I pull away.
“Did it help you? The fight?” I ask pa-nting.
“No, infact it did the opposite.” He says his voice raspy and his eyes darker. I want to give in but I stop myself.
“We can’t.” I say but he only nods and starts heading towards the large doors. We don’t say anything as I follow him to my bike and we ride home silently.
We arrive at my apa-rtment and he immediately heads to his room.
I walk to the kitchen and take a gl@$$ of water as I cool myself down. I take out a pan and start cooking some pasta but Jayden gets out of his room dressed up.
“Jay…”
“I un-derstand Jada and it was wrong of me to say that. I just nee-d to step out. I’ll see you in the morning.” He says and gets out. I turn off the fire and walk to my room not in the mood to eat anymore.
I un-derstand what he’s feeling. I can feel it too but I made a promise to myself almost seven years ago.
I’d never sleep with any male. Ash was the only man I would ever love and having se-x with another male would feel like betraying him.
The theory might seem dumb but it makes sense to me.
