“Don’t you wanna hear the truth anymore?” He asked and Valerie looked at him.
“What truth?” She asked.
“What you’ve been longing to hear. Don’t you wanna know who Madison Roberts is to me??” He asked and Valerie just stared at him.

They both were in a beach, sitting in silence, staring at the calm water making Valerie wonder if that was why he brought her there coz he wasn’t saying anything.
The cold breeze kept blowing their hair and shirt and the clouds grumbled as if it was gonna rain soon.
Valerie sighed. Just when she opened her mouth to say a word, he spoke up.
“It all started five years ago, when I first met Evie.” He began.
Valerie looked at him keenly.
“I was just the normal pizza guy, who was living my life freely, until I met her. Tho, I’ve always heard of the Zhang, the kind of people they were, but I was very curious to know the kind of people they were. How powerful could they be that they instigated so much fear and respect in people. I really wanted to meet them, even tho our levels were completely different.” He paused, to took in a deep breath, then he continued.
“I encountered Evie on one of my pizza delivery, and that was when the obsession began. I was happy she was fascinated about me, and started hanging out with her. My mom warned me against it when she found out but I didn’t pay heed to her. I never saw anything wrong with the Zhang. Till I got married to Evie.”
As he talked, he was reminiscing how it all happened.
“We had a happy marriage, until it we were married for two years and Evie still couldn’t birth a child and Mr Zhang was already on our neck to give him a grandchild. He even deny Evie right to any of his property if she does give him a son.” Valerie looked at him.
“So…”
“So she came up with the plan. ‘Get a girl Jeffrey, a naive young lady in her early twenties who you’ll get married to, make her fall for you, get her pregnant and take her child away from her’. Those were exactly her words.” He said and Valerie blinked her eyes.
“Really?”
“At first, I was against the plan, it sounded absurd. I couldn’t ruin someone’s future for my own interest and I tried talking to Evie to get her to adopt a child but Evie was completely against it. Her dad was surely gonna find out, and it was better the child had one of us blood. Still, I refused. But then, Evie is Evie, she never backs down for what she wants and she doesn’t venture into something without having a plan A, B and C.” He said.
“So she blackmailed you?” Valerie asked and he sighed.
“Why?”
“It isn’t important.” He said and Valerie stared at him, he sighed.
“I kílled someone…” He heaved.
Valerie hands flew to her mouth as she stared at him with widened eyes.
He-he kílled someone!
“You–”
“And the Zhang covered up for me, with their influence, they were able to die down the case.” He said, he was just speaking in a low spirit.
He wasn’t looking at her at all. He doesn’t wanna know what she was feeling, he might not be able to tell her everything, about his life if he looked at her.
“How did it happen?” She asked, biting her lower lips, trying to hold in the tears.
“I don’t know. All I know is that I kílled someone. That’s the only thing I remember.” He said and Valerie sniffed.
He blinked the tears in his eyes, and continued.
“I was scared, I didn’t wanna go to jail. My mom also knew nothing about this. I couldn’t afford to increase her blood pressure. I agreed to carry on with the plan. It was kinda fun. Madison was a sweet and loveable person, that I started falling in love with her, but a deal was a deal. When Madison birth the child, I registered Evie’s name as the mother of the child at the hospital instead of Madison, so if she tried to claim the child, she wouldn’t have any evidence to use.” He said.
Tears was already rolling out of Valerie’s eyes as she listened.
“We took the child from her and Evie pushed Madison off the cliff. That was her way of getting back at me for falling in love with her.” He said.
“But Madison didn’t díe, Evie was surprised when she came back three months later to claim Alex as her child… Alex is Leo’s real name.” He muttered.
“With her families influence, she was able to win the case, and Madison was humiliated again. The hate which she got from the people were much that she had to commit suicide by jumping in front of a train. That was how she died.” After saying that, he turned to her.
“That’s the end of the story. I hope I satisfied your curiosity. But still, I have one last thing which I wanna say tonight. I know your reaction after hearing it won’t be cool. But still, I’m gonna say it.” He said.

“I’m sorry.” June apologized, letting go off Fawn’s hand.
“For what? It wasn’t your fault.” Fawn said, pocketing his hands.
“Still, I feel I’m at fault. I’m sorry.” She said.
“It’s alright. I don’t feel bad actually.” He said and June nodded. She pressed her lips, thinking of what to say next.
“Erm, I think I’ll leave now.” She said and Fawn raised a brow.
“So quick?” He asked.
“Huh?”
“I mean, I thought you’ll stay out a little bit before…”
“I know, but I promised to stay away from you and not to bulge you, I have to keep to my promise. I don’t wanna upset you.” She said and Fawn curled his lips.
“But I’m not upset.” He said.
“Still, I have to keep my promise.” She said.
“Oh.” He muttered.
“Yeah.” She nodded.
“But-” she was already walking out and he ruffled his head in frustration.
He exhaled heavily.

“Have the investors arrive?” Mr Giovanni asked his secretary.
“No, not yet but Mr Wood called to inform that his right hand man would be representing him in the meeting. He can’t make it.” He explained and Giovanni looked at him.
“When was that?” He asked.
“Not up to thirty minutes, they will be on their-” His secretary paused looking out of the window, he was actually standing beside it.
“What is it??”
“I guess they’re already here.” He said, noticing the black suit men, alighting the luxurious cars.
In less than ten minutes, a knock was heard on the door and the secretary went to get it.
The investors walked in.
They were six in numbers.
Giovanni stood up with a smile on seeing them.
“Good day Mr Giovanni Zhang, long time no see.” The man in front, who seemed to have more authority than the others said.
Giovanni took his gaze to the man, it was none other than Derek! But he was wearing a fake moustache and he had a full fake beard this time, some of it already turning grey.
He was wearing a lens as well and it was difficult to recognize him.
“I… Don’t think I know you.” Giovanni said and Derek chuckled, touching his beards fondly.
“I know right?, It’s just way of greeting. Why don’t we quickly go to why we’re here.” Derek said and they nodded, walking out together to the hall were they’ll be holding the meeting.
Derek was the last to leave the office as he stood there looking around the office, nodding his head.
The secretary had to come back and call him and they both left.

Immediately Alecia opened the room’s door, she bumped into Leroy.
She almost rushed out of the room but Leroy grabbed her wrist and pulled her to him that she ended up landing on his chest.
He wrapped his hand around her waist that not even a single air was between them.
“Avoiding me?? Seriously?” He said and she shook her head.
“No, it’s not like that. It’s just that-” She stuttered.
“What?” He asked.
“I’ve- I’ve been busy.” She muttered, avoiding his gaze.
“Busy?? For three days?” He chuckled.
“Come up with a better lie please. I know you too well. You weren’t busy, why were you avoiding me?” He asked and she shook her head.
“No, I’m not.”
“Then why can’t you look me in the eyes?” He asked and she gulped down.
He held her chin and brought her face up.
Alecia gulped down, she was extremely nervous.
“Didn’t you miss me at-”
“No I didn’t!” She rushed the words from his mouth and Leroy stared at her. He chuckled and Alecia looked away shyly.
“I- I was just-” the rest of her words got stuck in her throat, as he leaned closer. She could feel his calm breath on her face and she swallowed hard.
Her eyes widened when she felt his lips on her hers. She blinked repeatedly as he kissed her lips softly.
Her heart thumped loudly in her chest and those familiar butterflies, were at it again. Dancing zazzu in her stomach.
She slowly closed her eyes and reciprocated the kiss but he suddenly broke the kiss and looked at her.
She looked at him with inquisitive eyes.
“I’m sorry. I was just checking something. I thought someone didn’t miss me?”
“You were just what?” He asked in a whisper and she pulled his shirt and slammed her lips on his.
Leroy chuckled softly reciprocating the kiss. She raked her hand into his hair as they kissed slowly and affectionately.
He suddenly broke the kiss, and kissed neck instead and Alecia moaned softly.
She liked the feeling of his warm tongue on her. He slowly swept her off her feet, taking her to the bed

“Valerie I love you!!” He confessed, his words echoing in her ears.
Thunder struck that moment and a heavy rain fell on the earth.
Valerie stopped right on her track, the rain drenched her completely.
She slowly turned around.
“I really do.” Jeffrey said walking towards her. He was also drenched in the rain. His clothes stuck to his chest, showing his sèxy abs.
“I didn’t know how it happened but I fell for you. I tried convincing myself that I’ll never love again. I mean nobody deserves a man like me. Yet again. I love you Valerie Keys! I love you.” He confessed repeatedly.
Valerie just stared, speechlessly.
