❣️Episode 36❣️

????Lena’s pov????

I was desperate.

I was so bent on getting Brenden to be my boyfriend at all cost and I don’t care about who or what I have to get out of my way to achieve my dreams.

Yes, Rowan was my ex boyfriend. We dated for four years, since we were in our fourth grade but things changed between us as we got into high school.

Or should I say, I changed.

Rowan grew out of my league and I just wanted someone that could fit in.

Someone that every girl has eyes for.

Hey, don’t get me wrong. Rowan wasn’t so bad. He’s cute, smart, strong, amazing and a perfect boyfriend but he’s not just my type.

Brenden was. And maybe that’s why I fell hopeless for him, caring less about the consequences.

I know I hurt Rowan when I cheated on him with Brenden and broke things off with him but honestly, I don’t Fuc-king care. I have no regret on what I did.

And as for Lexi, well if there’s anyone to be blamed then it should be Rowan for including her into this shit.

He wanted revenge and the only thing he could think of was to use her to get back at her brother.

Unfortunately for the girl, she fell for him and his lies…I wanted to disclose everything to her about Rowan’s plan but decided not to _Besides it wasn’t my business_

Yeah, it was my fault but no, I didn’t involve her. Rowan did.

I didn’t tell Brenden about Rowan’s plan but seems like he figured it out on his own. He warned him not to hurt his sister at any cost.

Rowan turned a deaf ears to Brenden’s warning but as time went on,,, I think he(Rowan) began falling for Lexi…well, it was just my speculation. I wasn’t so sure of what he actually feels for her but I don’t think he has really fallen out of love for me. Not like I care, anyway.

Neither of us told Lexi about Rowan and I. Brenden didn’t tell his sister about her so called boyfriend’s plan and neither did I.

But I won’t be holding that secret anymore if Rowan doesn’t do as I say.

I want Brenden and I’m ready to do anything at all cost!

Brenden was mine and nothing…nobody will change that.

“She doesn’t know, does she?” I questioned, smiling deviously at him.

“What?”

“She doesn’t know about you and I, right? I bet she will be surprise if she get to know but hey, that won’t be the fun part…the fact that you dated her because you wanted revenge on her brother will surely be the fun part, don’t you think?” I raised my perfectly shaped brow at him.

He knows just what I’m talking about…he knows the consequences of his actions if I get to spill everything to Lexi, which I will if he doesn’t do as I say.

I’ve tried everything within my strength to get Brenden to look at me and love me since Gwen was still in the hospital but all to no avail.

It’s as if nothing will ever keep his mind off that bit-ch !

Like seriously, what does she have that I don’t?

Wealth? Fame? Popularity? Cars? Name it. If anything I don’t think she has anything compared to me. She was just a rude spoilt g-ay who fights just anybody for fun.

Come to think about it, does Brenden knows that she was g-ay?

I mean, if he does, why then does he still want her?

Why wasn’t he looking at me like he’s suppose to, huh?

“You…you can’t do that.” Rowan stuttered.

“Oh yes I can, Rowan. You know me well enough to know just what I’m capable of.” I closed the space between us, placing my palm on his chest and running it up and down his chest with a smirk on my face.

I could see the look of desire in his eyes…he clearly wants me so badly but hey, who am I to reject him?

~You can’t have se-x with your ex boyfriend, Lena~ My subconsciousness warned, pulling me out of my stupidity.

“Tell me, which girl will be happy to know that she was only used to get back at her brother? You only wanted revenge, Rowan and that’s the real reason why you asked Lexi out in the first place!”

“LENA!!!”

I started laughing, taking a step back from him. “Why, are you scared?” I sighed. “You obviously want to keep Lexi and I want Brenden…we both want the same thing. so tell me, why can’t we just help each other out, hmm?”

“You are not helping me, Lena.” He said throu-ghgritted teeth.

“Really?” I folded my arms over my chest. “I’m keeping a very big secret away from Lexi for you and what, you don’t see that as being helped? You know what will happen if I decide not to keep quiet anymore, Rowan. I only wanted to negotiate with you but you left me with no other choice than to do this!” I pointed my index finger at him, warningly. “I give you a week to do as I say or else…you will have to say goodbye to Lexi.” I winked.

“Why are you doing this? Haven’t you done enough already? You cheated on me and broke my Fuc-king heart! Why then are you doing this again?” He asked in annoyance.

“I’m not doing anything wrong, Rowan. I’m only asking a friend for help which I absolutely see nothing bad in it. Anyone would have done the same if they were me. You would have done the same.” I started backing away, still smirking. “A week, Rowan. A week. I’m very desperate as you must know.”

????Narrator’s pov????

“Gwen is awake, Mia. Why aren’t you going inside?” James asked, giving her a puzzled look.

She sighed, running her fingers throu-ghher hair. “I can’t.”

“You can’t?” He repeated, looking very confuse. “What do you mean?”

She gulped, looking around before saying. “I can’t go inside, James.”

“I heard you the first time but why? Your daughter is finally out of danger and she’s awake now, so what’s going on?” He questioned.

“James, going to the inside there means taking her back, you know that right? Do you really want me to take her back with me?”

“Listen, as much as I want Gwen to still stay here with me. I still want you to see her…or should I say, I want her to see you. It’s been a while she last saw you, Mia.” He said calmly. “She miss you so much and i know she will be very happy to see her mother again.”

He was right.

She knew he was.

But going back to the hospital…

•FLASHBACK•

Mia couldn’t take her eyes off her smiling daughter’s face.

Lexi, Cleo, Pearl, Kathy, Arthur and Davis were chatting with her, telling her about the times she missed in school.

Her daughter looked so happy and comfortable being around them.

Mia pulled her outstretched hand from the doorknob and took a step back.

She can’t snatch this life from her child.

She can’t repeat her mistake again…

She had took Gwen away from her three childhood friends; Nathan, Eddie and Ken. She don’t want to do it again.

She can’t keep shipping the girl off just as she pleases.

This was her daughter’s beautiful life,,, who was she to deny her of this right?

She wants her daughter’s happiness, every other thing can go to hell for all she cares!

And if New York have come to be a home to her then she see no reason to why she have to take it away from her. Again.

She could see the love every one of them in that room has for her daughter.

Gwen….she deserve this life filled with love, happiness and fulfillment and not one filled with bitterness, boredom and pain.

She can’t let her daughter go throu-ghthe life of not having a perfect family, perfect life and perfect friends.

Her gaze lingered on her daughter for a long while. Looking at her child from this distance was enough joy for her.

After all, her little baby was perfectly fine now. She look so healthy, beautiful and strong _just like always_

Mia stay here in New York have taught her something; She doesn’t have to be worried about her daughter.

She is getting the attention, love and care that she truly deserve.

She backed away from the door as a tear sli-pped off her eyes, strolling down her cheeks.

If she took another further step inside that ward then she definitely wouldn’t be able to leave New York without her baby.

•END OF FLASHBACK•

“I’ve seen her and that’s enough for me.” She murmured, tightening the hold of her luggage.

James shook her head. “You will regret this, Mia. Gwen…”

“No. I won’t.” She cuts him off immediately. “I want my child’s happiness, okay? If I go back to the hospital then I will just have to take her back. I can’t.”

“Why?” He asked.

She let out a breath, shrugging. “She’s happy here. And that’s enough a-ssurance for me. Her happiness is my happiness.”

“I get what you are saying but…Gwen will really want to see you. Please let her just see you for at least once. Give her a reason not to doubt your love for her.” He pleaded.

Mia shut her eyes close, taking in de-ep few breaths and when she opened it,,, James knew there was nothing he was going to say that would ever change her mind.

“I’m taking the easy step, James.” She said in finality, hailing a cab to stop.

The cab came to a stop in front of the hospital building.

She opens the backseat door and turned back to stare at James. “Are you really leaving her with me? You know I’m not worthy to be a father…she might get hurt again.” He said softly.

Mia li-ps gradually stretched into a smile. “I’m not leaving her with just you, James. She has her friends with her and her grandparents as well and importantly, she has you, her father. You might not be perfect but trust me, I’m not as well. And Gwen isn’t looking for perfection.” She looks back at the hospital and sighed. “At least I got to see my baby again and that’s enough for me.”

James took a step closer to Mia and tried touching her face but she pulled away from his reach.

“I should get going now.” She quickly got into the cab and slammed the door shut. “Take me to the airport.” She said to the driver. She slowly turned to look at James who was also staring right back at her with a soft look on his face.

She really wanted a hug from him. Even if it was just for a moment but she can’t give in to him again.

She can’t allow herself to get hurt again.

She can’t let history repeat itself again.

Just then, the cab drove off. Mia couldn’t take her eyes off James and the hospital until it all faded into the distance…

????Gwen’s pov????

“What are you saying? My mom can’t be here.” I said, shaking my head in disagreement.

“Kathy is right, Gwen. Your mom never left your side while you were still in coma. Why would we tell a lie about a thing like this?” Pearl questioned, shrugging.

“Wait, why do you doubt that your mom came here to look after you? Aren’t you in good terms with her?” Davis asked now.

I wasn’t.

She shipped me off like a piece of trash all because she was ashamed of me and my Fuc-king behavior.

She didn’t even bade my goodbye. Neither did she look at me when I walked out of the door.

She made me felt worthless and shameless.

I felt like a huge embarra-ssment, who was only making life miserable for my mother.

I wanted to be her perfect daughter.

I wanted a perfect life with my mother but it’s never possible between the both of us. Never.

But she coming over here because of me was quite…no, very surprising.

I was going to talk when the door to my ward opened and father walked in, looking so pleased to see me.

He quickly made his way towards me and pulled me into a big hug.

I hug-ged him back, breathing in his scent.

I miss him so much.

The others took the cue and left the room, leaving just father and I to catch up with things.

He pulled away from the embrace and sat down on the bed beside me.

“How are you feeling now, princess?” I rolled my eyes at the nickname. “Still haven’t gotten use to the nickname?” He joked.

“I will never get use to it, dad. It’s sound so cheesy and arrrrrgh!” I cringed, making him laugh. “Stop laughing, father. Like seriously when will you ever stop calling me that?”

“Let me see…um,” He pretend to be in de-ep thought about an answer. “Never.” He started laughing, making me frown. “Come on, darling. Princess sound so cute and it suit you well.”

“I’m no princess, father.” I looked around. “This flowers…did you get them for me?”

“Not everything. I did got some but that friend of yours…um, Brenden got most of them.”

I furrowed my brows in confusion. “Brenden got this flowers for me?”

He nods. “Yeah. That guy must really care about you. He never missed a day to visit you until he eventually travelled out on a business trip with his father.” Dad explained, tucking a strand of hair from my face to the back of my ear.

Brenden visited me?

Really?

So that idiot can be quite considerate?

“Was he the one who brou-ght me to the hospital?” I questioned.

I remembered losing consciousness in his arms after hearing my name from him but the rest of the scene were blank.

Who knows, maybe he left me there and ran off while a good samaritan spotted me and took me to the hospital.

Although the idiot doesn’t look like the type of person to do something as mean as that.

“I guess. After all he was the only one I saw when I came over.”

I sighed. “Hey, point of correction dad. The idiot isn’t my friend.”

Dad laughed. “Then is he a foe?”

“No.”

“That’s the exact same words he said to me when I asked him the question.” He reached out to hold my hand. “I’ve miss you so much, princess. I was so hurt to see you in that condition.”

“I’m fine now, dad.” We stayed quiet for a while until I decided to break it off. “What about mom?”

“What?”

“I heard that mom came over to Brooklyn. They said she never left my side while I was in coma.” I said excitedly. “Do you know what the means… mom cares about me, dad.”

“Hmm.” He hummed, looking at everywhere but my eyes.

What’s going on?

“Dad, what’s going on?” I voiced out my thought, looking very worried. “Where did mom go?”

Silence.

Silence.

Silence.

“Dad?” I called out again.

He sighed, running his fingers throu-ghhis hair, dishevelling it in the process.

“Your mom have left town. She has gone back to Boston, sweetheart.” He said, shattering my heart into pieces.

She did it again…

She left me.

Like always.
