THINGS YOU CAN’T SEE
EPISODE 3
At the dinning Camila was just looking at her sister strangly and Anna too did her best not to think of what Alex said so Camila won’t read it from her head.
After dinner Camila retired to her room, claiming she’s very tired……while Anna went to her husband’s room to beg him to let her sister stay even if it’s for a week
Alex would not have any of it, he pushed her out of his room and locked his door.
The next morning before Alex would leave for work Camila made sure to get herself ready….. she waited for Alex and her sister downstairs.
Anna looked shocked seeing that her sister was set with her bags…. immidiately tears dropped down her cheeks…. it hurt her to see that things had to go this way for she and her other half
ALEX
you are leaving already?
(he said sarcastically)
CAMILA
yeah, I have to leave….. I was pas-sing by so I said let me drop by and see you guys.
ALEX
that’s so thoughtful of you, I’m sorry that I didn’t have time to chat with you yesterday… maybe some other time, my regards to mum and dad okay.
he said and left smiling to himself… he opened his door and went outside… he turned back and said
“at least someone in the family still has Br@ins”
Anna grabbed her sister and hu-gged her ti-ghtly
ANNA
I’m so sorry Camila, I really am
CAMILA
(She smiled)
you don’t nee-d to be sorry, I didn’t want to come here anyways….mum and dad for-ced me……I’m happy to return home
ANNA
what If I get you a job instead? will you stay or you will still go back home?
she said after remembering the conversation she had with Rose two weeks ago at the mall.
CAMILA
Job? who would employ me? I’m not even educated
ANNA
you don’t nee-d to be educated to do a maid job cami …. please going back to the village like this would hurt papa and mama, they would worry about me… please stay here and work for yourself.
After so much pleading and begging Camila finally decided to stay…. Anna ran inside and carried her phone….she called rise to know if she had given the job to someone else.
ROSE
this one you remember me today, are you playing on going to the saloon today?
ANNA
no rose, I’m calling to ask if you have given out that Job we spoke about?
ROSE
not really, the man and his daughter are so selective…. they kept rejecting all the girls I sent there.
ANNA
thank God…. where are you right now?
ROSE
I’m actually driving right now….. I’m going to the office
ANNA
my sister is around, do you think you can come pick her up and take her to the man? I’m sure they will like her.
ROSE
your sister is here? I thought you said she said she won’t come?
ANNA
yeah, but she’s here now…. can you come get her?
ROSE
that would be later, I have an appointment and I’m running late…. but I will make sure to call Mr King to know if his available to see your sister
ANNA
thank you…i will be waiting for your call.
ROSE
cheer up girl, you sound so down
ANNA
I’m having a flu I guess
(she lied)
ROSE
alright…. please take care of that fluid…..love you …..bye!!!!!
She hung up, Anna turn to look at her sister with hope in her eyes.
ANNA
the job is still available…..let’s hope they like you.
CAMILA
what you have to go throu-ghjust to cover a man like that….. when did we get to this point in our lives?
ANNA
I’m going to be fine Camila, I promise
they hu-gged each other crying together.
ROSE OFFICE
(TIME CHECKED 12:15PM)
Rose just finished with her last appointment for the day, she called her PA and asked her to send her a cu-p of coffee…. her phone started to ring, she looked for her bag and brou-ght it out….. it was Mr kings calling….. she smiled because she actually had it in mind to call him too.
ROSE
good afternoon sir
KINGS
I don’t think there’s anything good about the afternoon….. how long will it take you to get me a maid to look after my child?
ROSE
sir, you sound like I haven’t been trying my best…. you have rejected all the people I sent to your place.
KINGS
so I should accept anyone you bring because you want me to? this people you are bringing are strangers, we don’t know them…..don’t you think we nee-d to be careful?
ROSE
all this girl’s that work for me, I know them very well, I know them down to to their house…. they won’t harm either you or your daughter.
KINGS
when are you sending me someone Mrs rose?
ROSE
I was going to call you later about that, I got a new girl for you….. this one isn’t a city girl though…..she came from the village yesterday.
KINGS
A local being, what does she know? has she done this job before?
ROSE
she hasn’t, but I’m sure she knows how to take care of a child.
KINGS
I’m closing early today because I have a dinner appointment, send her over by 3pm….. Jasmine will be back from school then.
ROSE
I’m going to do that sir…. and I really hope you stick with this one sir.
KINGS
if we don’t like her, we will send her away…. have a good day rose.
He ended his call…. rose nodded her head and murmured something to herself and dropped her phone.
Her PA walked in with the cu-p of coffee she requested for…
ROSE
I just got off the phone with Mr kings
MIRACLE
that man that never get satisfy with anything….what does he want this time?
ROSE
don’t mind him…. I’m sending someone there today, I hope he likes her.
MIRACLE
I hope He does…… your coffee ma
ROSE
thank you.
She gave rose the cu-p of coffee and left…..rose took her phone and called her friend to inform her to tell her sister to get ready… that she will send her office car to come pick her to her destination.
Anna was really happy, but rose told her not to be happy yet….thsy Mr kings and Jasmine has to accept Camila first before she can he Happy.
She thanked rose and kept her hopes high that her sister would be picked for the job.
Around 2:30 rose’s driver came to pick Camila up to Mr kings place…. rose called and took her to carry her bag in case they like her and ask her to start working immediately.
They got to Mr kings house….. Camila was wowed with the heaven in front of her in place of a house…. she wondered if heaven itself will look as beautiful as this … she went to the front door and knocked…. the driver immediately drove off, because he wasn’t supposed to wait for her…. if kings didn’t like her he would send her back with his own car.

Camila stood at the front door, from the look on her face you would know she’s very tense… she knows how much her sister hopes she gets this job and stay back in the city…..she didn’t want to disappoint her sister….. she knocked the second time and a faint voice came from inside….. asking who was at the door….. her breathing went from normal to abnormal…..she was scared…… the door flew open and a little girl or Eleven years stood right there staring at her without greeting.
CAMILA
good afternoon ma, I’m…..
JASMINE
point of correction, my name is Jasmine and i would appreciate if you can call me that….. I’m not your “ma…. are you Camila?
CAMILA
(Feeling intimidated by an eleven years child)
I’m sorry about that…. yes, I’m Camila
JASMINE
and how are we sure you are Jasmine? call whoever that sent you here, I will like to speak to her for confirmation.
CAMILA
but I don’t even have a phone… I don’t even know the person that sent me here….all I know is that the person is my sister’s friend.
Jasmine looked at her from her head down to her toe, she wondered why a full grown up woman won’t have a phone.
JASMINE
you are kidding right? you don’t have a phone? and you don’t know who sent you here?
CAMILA
ma can … Jasmine can I see your father please?
The door cracked opened and kings came out.
KINGS
you can come inside, I just got off the phone with Rose.
He opened the door wider for her to come inside….. Camila was wowed at the beauty of the room…. the room looked so beauty that she was lost in viewing that she didn’t hear when kings told her to seat down.
JASMINE
dad, don’t you think we are about to employ I deaf person? you already told her to seat down twice and she didn’t hear.
KINGS
manners Jasmine….. let her take her time…..you live in a paradise…. yo should always be thankful for that.
Jasmine sat beside her sister watching how Camila looked from right to left in amazement….. soon Camila came back to her senses and quickly composed herself
CAMILA
I’m sorry sir, you said what?
KINGS
take your seat
CAMILA
I should seat down!
KINGS
you don’t un-derstand English? I said you should seat.
Camila apologize and started to go down on the floor to seat
JASMINE
oh my God…..you are going to seat on the floor?
KINGS
what are you doing?
CAMILA
you asked me to seat sir
KINGS
this chairs are worth millions of naira…. and you prefer to seat on the floor than the couch?
CAMILA
I know sir and that’s why I decided to seat on the floor….i didn’t want to stain your chairs sir.
Her statement made kings to laugh, he laughed for a while before he stopped and looked at her for a while.
KINGS
you just pas-sed your interview….you can start working.
JASMINE
just like that? dad you didn’t let me interview her.
KINGS
baby just let it be okay, she’s the kind of person who would look after you, not because of money, because she’s kind and soft.
JASMINE
but dad….
KINGS
stop it Jasmine.
Jasmine got angry and ran upstairs to her room….. kings got up and asked Camila to follow him so he can show her her room…. he stopped to ask her.
KINGS
do you even know what a maid does?
CAMILA
to cook, wash and take care of the house…. or is it not that?
KINGS
do you know why I just employed you without questions?
CAMILA
no Sir
KINGS
because what you did proved something, and it is knowing your place…. aside taking care of my daughter and the other things you are supposed to do…..i don’t want you in my business…. don’t cross your boundaries and you should know your place.
CAMILA
alright sir … thank you for employing me sir….. my bag is still outside sir
KINGS
go and get your bags, so I can show you to your room.
CAMILA
alright sir…. thank you sir.
She ran outside to get her Ghana must go bag….she came back and Mr kings took her to her room…. he gave her time to settle in before she came downstairs to prepare dinner for them.
kings after showing Camila to her room came downstairs and called rose on the phone.
ROSE
good evening Mr kings
KINGS
good evening rose….. the girl you sent over, we have decided to stick with her for the time being…. we hope she isn’t like the previous one.
ROSE
can you say that again? you mean she’s working for you now? wow this is good news.
KINGS
I just called to inform you that she’s here and has resumed her duties….. have a lovely evening….
He said and hung up.
Rose called her friend to inform her of the good news….. anna was very happy, her mind was now at rest that her sister had gotten the job and won’t be going to anywhere.
later that evening Alex came back from work, looking very tired….. as a good wife, she tried to take his suit off not minding the humiliation she had to go throu-ghbecause or him… but Alex wouldn’t let her even come close.
ALEX
I didn’t ask for your help….. that reminds me, my brother is coming from the state tomorrow….I want you to cook him something very nice and make sure you keep the house clean.
Anna was very shocked, just yesterday he said he didn’t want any visitors in his house and today his saying his brother is coming over? she was angry but who was she to react? she didn’t said anything and left.
Around 7pm Camila was done cooking white rice and stew, it was the only thing she know she could cook and they won’t throw her out of the house…. she didn’t know how to cook fried rice, or coconut rice and she didn’t want to fuc-k up.
She went to kings room to call him that dinner was ready…..she knocked but nobody answered so she pushed the door opened… father and daughter were sleeping peaceful in each other’s arms….. they looked so cool together that it have her goosebumps all over her body.
Suddenly king spoke and it frightened her, she didn’t know when she opened the door, the sound woke him up but he didn’t react.
CAMILA
I’m sorry sir, I have been knocking but no one answered
KING
what do you want?
CAMILA
I came to inform you dinner is ready and served sir.
KINGS
you can go…. we will come down soon…. thanks
CAMILA
you are welcome sir
She turned her back and left.
King ki-ssed her daughter on the cheeks and woke her up sweetly to go have dinner…. Jasmine reluctantly got up from the bed and followed her dad downstairs.
at the dinning Camila stood beside them and didn’t move….. king wondered what she was doing.
KING
why are you standing beside us like an army who is on a parade ground?
CAMILA
I’m here in case you nee-d anything.
KING
we are fine, you can go eat your food
CAMILA
I can’t go sir…..I have to stay, wait for you to finish till I leave.
JASMINE
so you will just stand there and watch us while we eat? what if your stare makes us choke on our food?
CAMILA
I served you this meal, it’s my duty to wait, if there’s any complain I can learn from the correct, if the food is not enough I can go and get another one without you calling my name…. in my place we believe food is king so when we are eating, we don’t talk or do other activities…. we respect food.
her explanation didn’t make king to say anything again.. he said a few prayer and they started to eat.
