?Chapter Three <3>?

Subtitle: [The note?]

““Is he here yet?” Gina asked for the hundredth times. Zoe sighed getting more frustrated as she shook her head no and sank into the chair opposite from Gina’s.

“I don’t get. Didn’t he promise to be here this morning?”

Zoe shrugged. “He did. I had even called the police just to be certain that he hasn’t left his apartment but they said they haven’t seen him leave his apartment but although he had a visitor.”

Gina knitted her brows over that. “A visitor?”

“Yeah.” She paused. “It was a male visitor.” She added after a while.

“A male visitor. Hmm. What if Alma isn’t the murderer but the boyfriend?”

“You’ve always suspected the boyfriend, Gina. But anyone out of those two could have killed her.”

Gina stared down at the rose. “We are missing something. I don’t know but it feels like there is a last puzzle we are yet to point out.”

“Last puzzle? Like?”

Gina shakes her head as she kept staring at the rose. “I don’t know…” She took out a pen and a paper and wrote down something.

“What are you doing?” Zoe asked as she got up to her feet and made her way over to Gina. she was standing behind Gina now.

After a while of writing, Gina pulled away from the desk and started bit-ing the pen cover. Zoe grabbed the note Gina had written and read out loud. “The boyfriend; An ex to the victim. Alma; Sister to the victim. They both had some kind of problem with the victim before she had died but then…” That was where the note had stopped. Zoe look up from the paper to Gina. “But then what?” She asked.

“I don’t know…you know, she had welcomed the person into her house and they had both had a cup of coffee before what happened happen…which only meant one thing….the killer wasn’t either of those two…”

“Wait. Are you trying to say that the killer isn’t Alma neither is it Connor?” Zoe asked, confused.

Gina slowly nods her head. “She was mad at those two for hurting her, Zoe. She couldn’t have welcome either of them in and serve them coffee. The person who had visited her that morning had no issue with her.” She gasped over this realization as she said. “That person is the third party. That person is our last puzzle. But the question here is, who is this person? Who is this person we haven’t heard of?”

Suddenly Gina’s phone buzzed against the table which signifies that she has a new message. She collects the phone from the table and stared down at the message. The message was from an unknown number.

UNKNOWN NUMBER; I will tell you what you want to know. Meet me at my Sister’s apartment:.)

“She is willing to talk now?” Gina said, getting up to her feet.

“Alma?”

“Yeah. She want to meet at her sister’s apartment.”

“I’m coming with you.” Zoe said but Gina shook her head in disagreement. “Why not? You can go there all by yourself.”

“Yes. I can. You have to be here. I mean, what if Connor shows up now? One of us has to be here so we could interrogate him. Don’t worry I will take care of Alma. At least, she is willing to talk now and that’s a good news. That’s progress. I should get going now.” And with that she left. To get answers. To find the missing puzzle. The last person in the case.

“Hi.” Gina greeted softly as she got out of her car and walked towards Alma, who was just staring at the big building, where her sister had been living.

“Hey.” She replied in a low voice but Gina still heard her clearly.

There was a long silence between the both of them until Gina broke the silence. “You wanted to see me.”

“Yeah. Let’s go to that cafe over there and talk.” Alma started walking towards the cafe while Gina followed her from behind.

“It was a tough decision. I never wanted to say a word. I never wanted to say what I know or what I heard or saw that night…” She took in a de-ep breath as she stared out at the window. Her gaze on the building. Again. “I had visited her that night….”

…FLASHBACK…

Bianca laid on the ground and started crying. She was hurt. She had loved him. She had cared for him. And he has loved her back. He has cared for her….

….Well, that was what she thought….

But she was all wrong. He never loved or cared about her. He never wanted to be with her. He was just having fun with her by fu-cking her at the same time fu-cking her sister.

Why didn’t she see all this coming? Why couldn’t she read throu-ghthe tiny lines. why was she so dumb and so blind over those situations? Why dis it have to be her of all the other girls in the world?

She suddenly heard a knock. she glared at the door, pleading with it to stop the knock from coming in again. She wanted her alone time. She wanted to die in her own misery and agony but of course…the knock came in again, annoying the shit out of her.

She got up to her feet and walked over to the door, pulling it open without staring throu-ghthe peephole to check who it was. She was furious, okay?

She was expecting to see a neighbor or someone else but instead she was welcome with the last person she ever want to set eyes on.

“What do you want?” She asked harshly. Her blood was boiling inside of her. She hated this girl that stood across from her. The girl who is making her pas-sthrou-ghhell right now.The girl who had cut off her three to four years relationship. The girl who had fu-cked her boyfriend behind her back. The girl she calls her sister. Alma.

“I’m sorry, Bianca. I really am. I know it was stupid of me to have done what I did. I know I shouldn’t have done all that. I…”

“But you still did. You fu-cked with my boyfriend behind my back, you crazy bitc-h! You hurt me and yet you call me your sister! Well, I’ve broken up with him now…are you happy? Go on, date him. Be with him. fu-ckhim for all I care but don’t ever show your ugly face to me again! i hate you! From this day henceforth, you cease to be my sister! I disown you! So go rot in hell!” She was going to slam the door shut but Alma stick out her leg throu-ghthe door to prevent it from closing.

“Are you really going to do this? Are you really going to disown your own sister just because of a man? I am your SISTER OF CHRIST…..”

Alma was cut off with a thund-erous slap landed on her right left cheek.

“Tsk, Sister?” She scoffed. “You should have thought of that before fu-cking my boyfriend behind my back. Get lost, Alma.” She was about to slam the door again but couldn’t due to the leg of Alma that was stuck throu-ghthe door to prevent it from closing.

“Fine. But here, I saw this note behind your do…” Bianca just snatched the note from her grasp.

“Take your legs off or am going to…”

“I will. You don’t have to threaten me or anything.” She takes her leg out. Bianca immediately slammed the door shut without sparing her a second glance.

Alma knew from that day she has lost a friend, and a sister.

…FLASHBACK ENDS…

“Wait. You saw a note?” Gina questioned.

“Yeah. In front of the door when I arrived that night. I didn’t want to say a word because of the shock. Yeah, I knew I’d lost a sister that night but I never knew it would be forever. I hate myself right now.” She started sobbing again.

“Um, what does that note contain, Alma?”

She shrugged her shoulder. “I…I don’t know. I really don’t know. I didn’t check it.” She said. And Gina knew for a fact that she was being sincere.

Gina looked out of the window to the big building. A note. That could be the missing puzzle. That was the clue she needed.

“But wait. You said you never wanted to say what your heard or saw that night… what were you talking about?” Gina asked after a while.

Alma swallowed the lump in her throat before saying. “I saw him. After I had taken some steps away from her door. I had heard someone else knocking her door and when I turned around to see who it was, he had already walked in, but I knew for a fact that it was a guy but I didn’t see his face. He was holding a bottle of vodka in his hands. Could it be Connor? I really don’t know.”

Gina shook her head. He can’t be Connor. They had both break up that night so he couldn’t have possibly came by with a bottle of vodka and she on the other hand wouldn’t have accepted it.

Gina clenched her fist tightly. This was when the third party comes in. This was when the last missing person comes in.

“We thought you were never going to come again.” Zoe said at the guy sitting across from her in the Interrogation room.

“I promised to be here. I’m a guy of my word.” Connor said.

Zoe sighed as she adjusted on her seat and gave him a square look,

was staring right back at her.

“So how do you feel about your girlfriend’s death?” She began, folding her hands in front of her, on the desk.

“Ex.” He corrected. “And of course I feel awful. I loved this girl in question. I really do but…”

“….you were fu-cking her sister behind her back.” Zoe said, cutting him off.

Connor chuckled de-eply as he rubbed his forehead before folding ir across his ch-est and leaning into his seat.

“Oh. So the whole world knows about this now? It was a mistake, okay? Alma and I had always fu-cked with each other even before she introduced me to her sister and i feel for her instantly. I was going to stop whatever shitty thing Alma and I did but…like the saying goes, old habit never dies.”

“Aside from the fact that you cheated on her with her sister, why else did you both break up…Like I mean, you sound more angry. Angry about something that she might have done.” Zoe observed.

“Of course, why wouldn’t I be angry….when I had walked in on her ki-ssing my own brother.”

“Wait. She also cheated on you with your brother?” Zoe asked, wide eyes.

“Yes. She did. I don’t know, maybe that was a payback or something…” He said looking away from Zoe.

Zoe gasped, inwardly as realization came to her. He was the last person. He was the last person that they were missing…

….He was the third party. TBC.
