the unknown episode 27

?THE UNKNOWN?

?Chapter Twenty-Seven <27>?

?The meeting?

Gina got down from her car and look around her environment. She had left her office as soon as she got that call from an unknown number. She wasn’t trusting the person completely, but she do hope that this meeting would be of help to them.

She let out a de-ep breath as she leaned on her car. It seems like the person who had called her hasn’t still arrived. She crossed her arms over her ch-est and look down at her feet. That was probably the most fun thing to do.

Doris life was in danger so taking this huge risk wouldn’t be a problem.. right? She wonders to herself.

Suddenly her mind wavers to her discussion with Clayton. Why exactly did she tell him about her past? She had never done anyone about it. Although, those close to her knew about it but she has never used her mouth to tell anyone. So why did she tell him? And most importantly, why wasn’t she regretting it now?

Obviously she felt at ease after telling him her story. But de-ep down, she was afraid that he was going to judge her or mock her. But he didn’t.

Instead he surprised her by supporting her and cursing those jerks who had done that awful thing to her. He even apologized for their sake even when they didn’t even apologized for it.

Gina kicked a stone with her feet as she let out another de-ep breath. Maybe she had been wrong about him all this while. Clayton isn’t really that bad of a person. That was her conclusion.

A car suddenly pulled beside hers. She looked up from the ground to the direction of where the person had just parked.

Could she be the person she….She stopped thinking as she took a closer look at the girl who had just jumped out of her car and had just taken off her dark shades.

“Kylie?” Gina breath out.

Kylie li-ps stretched into a smile as she walked closer to Gina. “Ha. I thought I would have done some more introductions since you didn’t recognize my voice.” She said, that smile still plastered on her face.

“You were the one who called?”

She shrugged. “I had to. And don’t ask me how I got to have your number. I hate that question most.” She look around them. “Let’s go grab some coffee and reminisce of our good old times at college, don’t you think?”

“We have no good times.” Gina said in a very harsh voice.

Kylie chuckled. “Well, seems like it was only one sided. Tsk, that hurts. Anyway, I can’t stand out here talking… let’s go into that coffee shop. Hmm, the coffee smells delicious over here.”

Gina sniffed. “But I can’t perceive anything from here.”

Kylie grinned as she began to make her way to the coffee shop. “Well, the appearance says so.”

Gina rolled her eyes as she followed Kylie from behind. “You don’t judge things by its appearance.”

Kylie stopped walking as she turned to Gina. “It sounds like a lie coming from your li-ps.” She turned around again and walked into the coffee shop.

Gina stared at Kylie’s back confusedly. What does she means by that? She wonders as she walked into the coffee shop herself.

Kylie and Gina weren’t close. In fact they were enemies. They both never agreed on one thing. When Gina is pa-ssing the right direction, Kylie is pa-ssing the left. Whenever they were seen on the same lane…it meant trouble.

So yeah, they were the best enemies of the year….years. If there is even a word like that.

They took a booth at a window side. A waitress came to them as soon as they sat down.

“Hello. I’m Maria. And I will be your waitress for today. What would you like, please?” She said taking out a pad and a pen. It’s not like she would even be needing it.

“Just get me a coffee with two box of sugar and also add milk to it. And yeah, honey as well.” Kylie said with a smile on her face. Maria stared at her with a puzzled look on her face. Kylie must have read the look on her face because she added. “I love taking sweet.”

“Oh.” That was all the girl said then turned to Gina. “What about you, ma’am?”

“Black coffee, please.”

“Alright. Be right back.” She turned from them and left their table to place their orders.

“That was fun.” Kylie said after awhile.

“What was fun?” Gina asked.

“The confused look on her face was fun. I love it when people are left in confusion.”

“You seem really suspicious.” Gina said under her breath.

Kylie laughs softly. “Well, thank goodness it isn’t part of the law for the cops to arrest people by suspicion.”

Maria arrived with their orders and placed it before them before walking out to attend to another customer who had just walked in.

“Why did you call me?” Gina asked.

Kylie picked up her cup and took a sip of the coffee. She grinned as she dropped the cup on the table. “It’s so delicious. I knew the coffee was going to taste this way.” She said, ignoring Gina’s question. She look up at Gina. “I told you the appearance looked great. You lied. Again.”

“What? I lied? Again? And what do you mean by that?”

“I don’t know…I was just saying. Hey, you read meaning into words too much. I meant no harm, trust me.”

“The last thing I would do on earth is to trust you.”

Kylie smirked as she leaned closer into her chair. “But you could trust a murderer with your life, is that what you are telling me?”

“Wha…what are you talking about?” Gina asked, getting more and more confuse.

“You think the killing can be hidden under the sun? Phoebe is dead. Alicia is also gone. And so will be Doris. Very soon.”

“Wait. How did you know that? Are…no, you can’t be the one killing them. Us.”

“You don’t trust me. So you are right. I can’t be the one killing them. I won’t deny the fact that I’m so happy that you guys are dying. I mean, after watching my cousin being kept 6feet below us…I hated you guys and wished you guys death.” She paused. “My wishes are coming true. But do you know what I’m most excited about?….On the identity of the killer.” She started laughing. “Trust? That kills fast-er than death. Are you wondering why I’m telling you all this?” She raised a brow at Gina. Gina didn’t say anything but kept staring at Kylie waiting for her to continue. “ Because can’t wait to see the whole drama.” She got up to her feet and picked up her handbag. “Look around you before you look outside.” She smiles. “I will take my leave now. Ah, bills on me so don’t bother paying. I hope we don’t see again and even if we do…I hope you will be 6feet below. I will get you one of the best roses you could ever imagine. Trust me….Oh. you don’t trust me.” She started laughing and walked out of the place after paying the bills to the cashier.

Gina just sat there and was staring at the very same spot Kylie had just been sitting down on earlier ago.

*Look around you before you look outside.* That word played in her head for quite some time.

*You don’t trust me but trust a murderer.*

She really don’t understand what Kylie had been saying.

#Do you really not understand…? Or your trust for your friends is making you not to understand, Gina?# Her subconscious says to her.

Doris walked into her apartment. It was dark. She sighed as she closed the door and headed to the switch. She suddenly heard some footsteps. She stopped walking and look around her.

“Who is there?” She asked. But no one answered but she was quite sure that someone was heading towards her. She quickly put on the light. And lo and behold, someone was standing in front of her with a smile.

She let out a sigh of relief. “You scared the shit out of me. What are you even doing here? I had just left your place a while ago, remember?” She said.

The person grinned and suddenly, she was stabbed on the neck. Doris let out a loud yelp before collapsing on the floor. She kept struggling. Her nails were dug into the person’s skin. She dragged the hair of the person but still nothing was done. She was getting weak. Weak. And weak. She was losing consciousness. She was going to die anytime soon.

After struggling for life. She died. She gave up her last breath but before she died she had said; “How could you…?”

Olive walked into Maddie’s apartment, looking so tired and stressed out. She dropped her bag on the floor.

“Had a busy day?” Maddie questioned.

“Yup. We had some operation to take care of. I’m so stressed.”

“It isn’t easy to be a talented doctor, huh?” Maddie questioned.

“Trust me. But it pays.” she looks around. “Where is the others?”

“This is my apartment, Olive. Not you guys gathering.” Maddie replied her.

“Whatever. But we all agreed to meet here. Or am I the only one who heard the information?” Just then, Gina and Zoe walked in. “Definitely not the only one.” She whispered. “Where have you guys been?”

“Stop talking as if you had been waiting for them for ages. You just arrived.” Maddie said.

“They weren’t suppose to know that.” Olive said with an eye roll as she sat down beside Gina and leaned her head on her shoulder while Gina leaned her own head on Zoe while Zoe leaned hers on Maddie.

“You guys came to my house and now you guys are leaning on my shoulder.” Maddie said, jokingly.

“Bear with us.” Gina mumbled. “Don’t worry, you can lean on Doris’s shoulder.”

“She wouldn’t even mind.” Olive added.

“Where is she by the way? She suppose to have been here by now.” Zoe said.

“Probably traffic.” Gina said. “Do you guys want to know whose first letter alphabet was written?” She later questioned.

“No. We don’t. What kill fast-er than a bullet is fear.” Olive said. The others agreed with her.

“But someone had told me earlier that what kill fast-er than a bullet is trust.” Gina said.

“And who was that?” Maddie questioned. Suddenly, Gina phone started ringing. She digs out her phone from her pocket, getting her head off Zoe Shoulder but Olive was still leaning on hers.

“Hello?” She questioned as soon as she picks the call.

“It… it’s Doris….she…she…”

“What?!?” Gina yelled as she got up to her feet. The others stood up with her, all looking worried.

“Doris is dead. She’s dead.” The person who might be Doris’s neighbor said throu-ghthe other line.

Gina collapsed on the chair, dropping her phone on the floor in the process.

“Gina, what happened? What is it?” Olive asked.

“Dor…Doris… she’s… she’s dead.” TBC.
