EPISODE 9
©Sir Zach

Amy and Blake continued to work together in the programming room all by themselves. Amy had to admit seeing Blake work like this was the biggest surprise of her life. She had never in her life, not even for a split second thought that Blake was capable of doing all the monstrous things he was doing at the moment. He was capable in his own way yes, but she didn’t think Blake was a ‘Wizard’.

She tried putting herself in to the work she was supposed to do, and tried as ha-rdas she could not look at him, even though every p@rt of her b©dy was telling her to.

This was the first time they were working together, and having such close proximity. She could tell that with the way he was focused right now, he’d probably look handsome and gorgeous…..more like gorgeously handsome. But despite the urge to look and ogle at him she tried to work and keep a straight face, after all he had told he didn’t want her and she was yet to get over the hurt she felt when he rejected her.

Amy was too engrossed and lost in her own thoughts that she didn’t notice the fact that Blake has stopped typing and was now looking at her.

He didn’t even know what he was looking at, but he had observed one thing, she was looking thin. She had lost some weight and for some awkward reason he didn’t like it.

She wasn’t fat nor chubby, she had the perfect size and shape. As a matter of fact her slim and slender b©dy size was what he’d like if he’d ever consider dating a woman.

After several minutes of being oblivious of Blake’s stare, she finally realized the awkward gaze on her. She slowly turned her head to face him, and just as she thought he was indeed staring at her. Amy suddenly became conscious of herself. Having Blake staring at her like that made her heart skid several beats.

“Do I have something on my face?” She asked in a low and anxious tone.

“You look emaciated. I don’t like it” Was Blake’s blatant reply.

“Huh?” Amy eyes wi-dened in both surprise and confusion. He was looking so intently at her.

“I mean you’re looking too lean, and it doesn’t suit you” He repeated himself making Amy subconsciously lift up her hand to feel her ne-ck. Has she really emaciated a lot? If she has then she must be out of shape! Her eyes wi-dened as she lowered her eyes down to look at her hips.

She hasn’t really noticed she might have lost a few pounds. What was she going to do now?

Blake tried not to chuckle when he noticed all her reactions. She was indeed one incredible person.

“Do I look ugly now?” She panickly asked. She bit her ton-gue when she realized she wasn’t supposed to ask him such a question. “Erm- sorr-” She tried to apologize but Blake cut her off. She has always been one hell of a dramatic person.

“You still just as beautiful” Blake told her with a small smile curving his li-ps. Amy was slightly stunned when he smiled at her like that, his cute and beautiful dimples were on displa-y. Her heart suddenly changed rhythm as she stared at him. Blake always knows the right words to say to her, his words makes her heart wild and at same time it made her sad.

How could the same man have opposing effects on her? One minute the thought of him makes jelly and the next it makes sad. Sad because she badly likes him, but he doesn’t like her in return.

She shook her head and quickly recomposed herself when she realized she was openly staring at him. She cleared her throat and lowered her head in embarras-sment.

Blake took a quick look at the monitor and he heaved a sigh of relief when he noticed everything was working just fine, except Acrosoft of course.

He had just isolated the other softwares from Acrosoft so they wouldn’t be corrupted by this mysterious malware operator. He looked back at Amy who was now looking at him.

“Can I ask a question?” She carefully inquired.

“Why do I have a feeling I know what you’re about to ask me?” Blake asked back, while Amy simply shrugged.

“Maybe it’s because you do. So would you let me ask?” Amy was curious and she wanted to feed her curiosity with quite obvious in her eyes.

Blake kept quiet for a while before letting out a soft hiss. “For some awkward and unknown reason I can’t bring myself to say no to you, even though I don’t want to answer your question”

“Then you shouldn’t” She replied him, drawing a soft chuckle from him.

“Then I won’t”

“How are you able to do all this? I’m trying to explain some thoughts to myself but I can’t even un-derstand myself” She told him.

“I mean I haven’t even seen you in any of the programming rooms, nor the testing rooms to test a code, but here you are doing something imaginable which only a god like programmer can do. Blake I don’t un-derstand, what are you?” Amy couldn’t help herself from asking such. What Blake had done marvelled her.

“Well let’s just say I’m a just an ordinary guy with a little bit of skill” He casually replied.

“You call that little skill?” Amy scoffed. “plea-se don’t be so modest, that was more than little. That was awesome”

“I’m not trying to be modest, you should see my brother work, he’s awesome.”

“You mean Jake?” Amy asked in surprise.

“I don’t have another brother do I?” Blake co-cked a brow at her.

“Surprisingly I’ve seen him work a few times during the coding for Acrosoft. But you- you’re a whole different level. So tell me how are you able to do stuff like this and why have you been hiding yourself?” She asked, her gaze seriously focused on him.

Blake looked at her without saying anything. He had a stoic look on his face as he stared at her.

“Because it brings the side of me I don’t like” He finally replied.

“What do you mean?” Amy didn’t un-derstand him. Could there really be a side to him that wasn’t likeable? She really doubted that. To her, he was more than perfect. He was like a piece of art divinely created onto perfection with a big halo hovering over his head.

He looked at her and he could see that she was indeed curious to know something he didn’t want to talk about.

He signed exasperatedly before saying, “Let’s just say, there was a time when programming was like life to me. It was all I knew and nee-ded” He paused and scoffed. He continued….

“I mean you brother, Lair hyped me all over school back in the day. The hacks and stuffs got to me and I did something I shouldn’t have done. And I’ve never typed a code since then” He said in a low and dejected tone, the smile which was currently on his face was fake and sad, and Amy could see it.

She has never seen him seen with such a look, and seeing him looking so regretful made her feel a pang in her heart. She didn’t think it was wise to relieve such a moment. From his countenance it was as clear as day that he was still very much affected by whatever that was.

“I’m sorry for making you relieve a terrible memory. I shouldn’t have asked” She sincerely apologized. Her eyes not living him for a moment.

“It’s okay. It’s past…I think” His voice lowered when he said those last words, as he tried to for-ce a more sincere smile.

“So do you think you can do something about this?” Amy couldn’t help but ask. Knowing that Blake had such godly skills she just had to ask.

Blake looked back at the systems, and sighed. “I want to help but I don’t think I can. It’s been years since I ever coded anything. And whoever this malware creator is, he/she is really good. The others hasn’t been able to anything about it and definitely not brother” Blake hissed dejectedly.

“You’re kidding right?” Amy asked in disbelief, making Blake snap his ne-ck to look at her, with a questioning gaze in his eyes. What was he kidding about?

Seeing the confused look in his eyes, Amy sighed.

“I just saw you do what experts do in five hours in minutes. I’m sure your brother isn’t that great.” She paused and closer before adding, “Don’t tell him I said that. I still love my job” She lowered her voice. Her words brou-ght an amused smile to Blake’s li-ps, which definitely had an effect on her.

“I promise I won’t” He said chuckling.

“I don’t really know what happened in the past, but with what I’ve seen you do I’m completely sold out that you’re the most talented programmer I’ve seen. And who ever that malware creator he/she can’t hold water against you. I believe you can do this. The mind doesn’t forget what to code, even if the mind does, the hands won’t. The 1 and 0 is always in there. You just have to let yourself do it” Amy said to him. Blake locked gaze with her as he listened to her every word.

“I believe you can do this”

“But there isn’t much I can do” He confessed.

“But have you tried?” She asked him, her gaze on was intense as she observed his every reaction.

Blake bit his li-ps and shook his head. “No I haven’t”

“Do you think you want to try, because the others don’t know what they are doing, me included if I’m to be honest. And I’m sure your brother must be having a ha-rdtime too” She told him.

Blake lolled back on the chair and looked up.

“Amy to be honest, I don’t know if I can try. The fact that I successfully carried out the propagation doesn’t mean I can still do-”

“You don’t know until you try and I’m sure this will lesse-nyour brother’s issues” She looked at Blake who still has his gaze locked on the ceiling.

“And I can work along with you. After all my boss kicked me out of the office to go lesser work in the server room. So I’m practically useless”

Blake lowered his head to look at her, “Hey you’re not useless, you’re here and we’re talking and to me that’s enough work” He told.

His response made Amy roll her eyes at him, “Yeah it’s work to you, because you hate working. It’s no news” She said in a jocular order, while Blake chuckled.

“Well being lazy is the new busy. You can’t dispute that” He replied pertly.

“Yeah right” Amy rolled her eyes again.

“Have I told you you look beautiful when you do that” Blake suddenly asked, surprising Amy.

“Are trying to Flir-t me with me again?” Amy asked him. Blake stared at her for some seconds before casually shrugging his shoulders.

“I wasn’t Flir-ting with you. That’s called compliment, and you should say thank you” Blake told her, making Amy look at him suspiciously.

“Who compliments someone about rolling their eyes. That’s weird”

“Well weird is beautiful. And beautiful is your eyes when you roll them” He said. Despite the fact that Amy found his weird, they still sounded weirdly beautiful.

Wait, why does it seem like she was trying to sound like him.

She tried not to be blus-h and looked at him “Then I guess I’ll say thank you”

“You’re welcome” Blake replied.

“So does this mean you’re going to try Working on virus?” Amy returned his attention back to the issue at hand, while Blake hissed.

“It’s not going to be easy. It can be next to impossible. But I guess it’s worth a try, but only if –” His trailed off as he locked eyes with Amy once again.

“Only if you promise to work with me. I can do with the company” Blake told her, while Amy bobb£d her head happily. She really nee-ded to bury her mind with do much work.

“Of course.. Let’s work together” She chipped.
