*Outside Acrosoft*

“Hillary this is it. This is the day you take what rightfully belongs to you” Shirley pleasantly smiled as she looked at her boss.

“Mmm” Hillary nodded with a broad smile of her own. She looked at the gigantic building standing in front of her, and her smiled broadened even more.

“This is my first step towards achieving my goals. Everything they own will be mine” She said with her perfectly well coated li-ps curving upwards. She had promised herself she was going to make all the Beau’s fortune hers and there was nothing anybo-dy was going to do about it. First she was going to take the company and then all the @$$ets.

“And you’ll look so gracious sitting on that seat”

“Of course” She laughed at the thought of finally owning the CEO seat of Acrosoft. She snapped her head towards Shirley when she remembered something.

“Has he fixed it yet?” The smile on her face completely disappearing as she asked. She wouldn’t and couldn’t afford mistakes or delay at this critical period. Today was a crucial day so nothing must go wrong.

“Yes Hillary, the software is functioning well now. He did a good job” Shirley reported, p@$$ing Hillary an iPad to confirm. Hillary received it and began to surf throu-ghan app which had been malfunctioning when ProGuard got infected with the virus. She smiled satisfactorily when she saw that the app was indeed working well.

“Perfect” She exclaimed.

“Hillary do we let him go now?” Shirley asked with seriousness while Hillary closed her eyes for a short while before exhaling.

“Sure, he has done his job and I have done mine. Wish him success on his revenge” Hilary said before turning towards the door. She didn’t see the nee-d of holding on to him anymore, afterall all this was what they agreed on.

“Okay”
….

*Server room*

“So are you ready for tonight right?” Amy gleefully asked over the phone. She giggled after getting her response from the person she was talking to.

“This will be a steamy night. I can imagine” She said as she smiled sheepishly while she busied herself with one of the systems that she noticed was down. She didn’t see the nee-d to inform the technical team about it. She was sure it was nothing, hence she will see her prese-nce in the room.

“Just shut up Amy” The voice from the other side of the phone yelled making Amy to laugh.

“Have a blast sweetheart. Duty calls okay” Amy cheered before ending the call.

“This damn thing” Amy cussed angrily as she threw one of the cables which wouldn’t work after she had tried plugging it into one of the servers.

“You shouldn’t be one doing that” Someone said from behind her, making Amy squeal, “Ahh” she jolted back out of her shock and her sudden movement suddenly made her lose her footing, thanks to the heels which she had on.

Amy feared she was going to ki-ss the floor with her @$$, so she tried to stabilize herself but it wasn’t happening. The more she tried the fas-ter she fell, accepting her fate, she closed her eyes as she prepared herself for the impact, but that never happened. She didn’t fell the ha-rd floor against her back or @$$. As a matter of fact she wasn’t falling anymore.

With her heart beat thumping over the place, she slowly opened her eyes one after the other to peek at the situation of things and find why she wasn’t falling or hit the floor yet.

Her eyes flew wide open when she saw the face that had appeared before her. She blinked her eyes to ensure she wasn’t imagining things.

“Bl…Blake” She thought she called out but that was only in her head. Her heart which was beating fast had started racing frantically and she could hear the rhythm in her ear. She couldn’t move and she also couldn’t peel her eyes from him.

Her br@in nearly flatlined –if that was possible– when she realized Blake had caught her and saved her and she was currently his arms right now.

No scratch that, his hand was inti-mately wrapped around her wa-ist and his face was just above her.

Amy felt like squealing in her mind when she realized this. Why hasn’t she thought of falling all these while. Stupid Amy!.

Amy felt her heart skip several beat and it was ramming ha-rd against her che-st. The realization of being in Blake’s arm was messing with her head. It made her excite and giddy at the same time. Noticing how firm he was holding her like her knight in shinning armor, she literally visualized an halo on his head. He was shinning like an angelic being.

Blake on the other hand had his heart slamming against his ribcage when Amy stared at him the way she was doing right now. It was like she was looking de-ep into his soul or something, and it was making his bo-dy to act weird.

He had almost lost his breath when she lost her footing because of him and began to fall. He had instinctively caught her with his hand around her wa-ist.

Her slim slender figure kind of felt right in his arms, his eyes zeroed on her face. While was he just noticing her dark brown eyes which looked innocent, and her cute li-ps which currently had colors over them making them really alluring and tempting.

Blake didn’t know what came over him because the very next second he found his free hand moving up to her face. He tucked the few strands of hair dra-ping over her face behind her ears and his hand started trailing down her cheek. They felt so soft.

Slowly they started moving towards her alluring li-ps which were screaming touch me. Bite me. su-ck me mindlessly.

Blake shook his head when he realized the thoughts that were going throu-ghhis head. He snapped himself back to reality when he realized what he was doing. He awkwardly cleared his throat and slowly helped her to her feet.

“I’m sorry for startling you” He instantly apologized and looked to what she had been doing. There was no way he was going to help now, when his br@in and bo-dy seemed to have disconnected themselves.

“You should call the technical team for that” He told her. He turned his gaze to her again and he Immediately regretted doing that.

“I–I’ll go–now” He stuttered before turning away to leave. Amy was suddenly at a loss when he started acting weird?

Blake had only walked a few feets away when paused after he realized something. He turned to look at her, or rather at her feets.

“Those heels are too high. Wear something else” He said before walking away in large strides.

He berated himself for walking there. He knew she was the one in the room when he heard someone talking. Her voice was so ha-rd to miss, and when he walked over he wasn’t surprised when he found out she was indeed the one. But when he heard her conversation with the person over the phone, he couldn’t help but felt angry.

‘That must be her boyfriend’ He thought.

He had wanted to walk away without making an appearance when she started having issues with the cable lines, he decided to help her, but who knew he would behave in an unruly manner. He must have startled her with his actions. She was dating someone now who she was just planning a spectacular night with, so he should keep his distance from her, henceforth even though he didn’t want to.

Amy watched his disappearing back with interest. She didn’t like the way he had simply walked away from her, but then she remembered the awesome moments they had just shared seconds ago. She placed her hand to calm her heart that was suddenly beating fast.

‘Is he beginning to have feelings for me?’ She asked herself. She couldn’t help but think about it especially when this was the first time he was acting like this with her.

Maybe she hadn’t imagined his question the other day. ‘Don’t you like me anymore’ She had heard and she had pondered about it for days if Blake had actually asked her or if she had imagined things by herself.

“Why is he so confusing?” She mumbled out frustratedly.
….

In the conference room, Hillary pushed the door open and slowly walked in fully donned in an all white suit and her heels making clic-king noises on the ground. Her minions in the room stood up to welcome her with broad victorious looks on their faces.

“Madam CEO” A couple of them greeted with smile, while Hillary feigned a modest laugh.

“Let’s not get too far of ourselves yet, my step son is still your CEO” She said looking at his seat, which she found to be empty. A frown creeped on her face when she noticed he was abse-nt. She had intentionally arrived thirty minutes later than the stipulated time, because she wanted to flaunt her authority and support in front of him, but who knew he’d not arrive late also.

“Why isn’t he here?” She asked out loud, be almost as if she was complaining on their behalf.

“Ha, you shouldn’t mind him. He must be running Helter-skelter to save himself” Mr Andrew said with no fear or restrain. He was the major shareholder after the Beau’s. Honestly, he wouldn’t be dancing on this woman’s tone if she didn’t have incriminating and scandalous reports about him. He had asked his men to retrieve that file from but they were yet to do that.

“Hmm, it’s bad for a CEO to act with no manner” Hillary hissed.

“But you’re only just coming. Or aren’t you supposed to be the next CEO?” Someone asked from opposite her. Hillary’s li-ps twitch but she let out her signature creepy smile.

“That’s why I’m not the CEO yet. Wait till when I am” She drawled. That was a threat but the man snorted and looked away. He was disgusted by her and by all the other fools who were in support of her.

“Fools” He mumbled un-der his breath.

At that moment Jake pushed the door of the room open and walked directly to his seat with no care of looking at the faces of the people he shouldn’t bother himself about, while his secretary trailed behind him.

“Let’s begin” He said.

“Uhm” Someone cleared his throat and every eyes turned to him, except Jake. He had already predicted he’ll be the only one who was br@ve enough to speak while the br@inless co-minions would nod their head in unison.

“Jake, there shouldn’t be anything much to deliberate about. We’ll ask you two simple questions and we believe you’ll give us credible answer” He said. The fact that he didn’t address Jake as the CEO was evident to all.

Jake slowly look at him and scoffed before saying, “Ask anyway”

Mr Andrew nodded his head, and quickly glanced at Hillary who responded with a single nod.

“Did you fix the software as agreed?” The man asked.

“No”

The man nodded his head.

“And is the software working now?” He asked his second question.

“I don’t know” Jake replied with nonchalance. His response made the man frown slightly.

“What do you mean by you don’t know?” He asked. Hillary smiled when she saw the look on Jake’s face. She thought he was feeling angry over losing the company to her, so she spoke up, “You shouldn’t be too ha-rd on him”

Her response made Jake scoff as he turned to look at her.

“Why don’t you ask her? After all she’s vying for my seat, she should be able to answer your question” Jake said cooly.

A sm-irk appeared on Hillary’s face, when she heard Jake.

“You don’t have to be a sole loser son” She said. Anger flashed in Jake’s eyes when she called him son, but he pat himself down.

“Just answer the question. Is the software working fine?” Jake asked with a serious look on his face.

Hillary snorted when Jake looked at her so intently. she ruled his behavior as him being sulky.

“Yes” she firmly replied.

“Are you sure?” Jake asked again. This time Hillary felt a bit uncomfortable with the manner at which he was asking her questions. ‘Was he up to something?’ She asked herself.

‘No!’ She didn’t think so. This plan had been perfectly carried out, so there was no way she’d fail. With that confidence, she replied,

“YES”

“Then what is this?” Jake asked as he slide his tablet towards her direction.

“Then what is this?” Jake asked as he slides his tablet in her direction.

“What is that?” Hillary asked suspiciously without reaching for the tab.

“Why don’t you check and find out” Jake lolled back on his seat as he waited for her to pick up the tab and look at what he was showing her.

Mr. Andrew looked at Hillary, who in turn was looking at Jake skeptically.

“This had better not be one of those silly pranks of yours,” She said as she slowly reached for the tab, but Jake shrugged.

Hillary picked up the tab and Mr. Andrew who was sitting by her left craned his ne-ck to look at what Jake was showing to her. His eyes wide-ned when he saw the glitches on the screen. It was one of the security apps that had signed a contract with them. His eyes gazed up at Jake but the young man seems to be having the time of his life from where he sat.

“What’s the meaning of this?” Hillary snapped her head to look at Jake with horror.

“Why are you shouting at me? You should be talking to whoever you asked to fix it. Please don’t berate me at the moment okay” He replied.

The other shareholders who didn’t un-derstand what was going on exchanged looks among themselves in confusion.

Jake sighed when he noticed the confused look on their faces. He sighed and sat upright, his face immediately turned serious and stoic.

“What is going on?” Someone in the room was bold to ask.

“Five days ago Miss Hillary here, had agreed to fix the app and I had offered to give her my seat if she’s capable of bearing the burden that comes with it. And we all agreed to get her started on fixing the corrupted software, but here we are still a virus-infected software”

“That’s a lie” Hillary roared and stood to her feet.

“You….you did this,” She said pointing a fin-gerat him. Her face was grim and her eyes looked murderous.

“Me?” Jake pointed a fin-gerat himself. “Are that fickle Ms. Woods” He called her by her first name.

“When I came here last week and had this whole board breathing down my ne-ck did I point an accusing fin-gerat anyone? When you dared to challenge me for my seat did I ask you if you were responsible for this?” Jake demanded in an angry tone.

Hillary’s li-ps twitched and her palms clenched angrily. She couldn’t think of what could have gone wrong at the moment. Just minutes ago the software had just been working fine, she had seen it with her own eyes, so what has gone wrong?

She angrily picked her phone and stormed out of the room.

‘That animal!’ She roared in her mind.

Jake tsked as she walked out of the room, his eyes followed her, but he hid the animosity burning inside of them.

“Patrick” He called, and the man who had been patiently waiting for his boss to give his orders stood up and started sharing the docu-ments his boss had given him before the meeting.

He distributed the docu-ments according to the names written on them. Not everyone bo-dy was given the docu-ments, but 60 percent of the people in the room had received them, including Hillary. Hers was waiting for her on the table.

“What is this?” Mr. Andrew was the first to ask when he read the letterhead of the docu-ment.

‘SHARES TRANSFER’

“CEO Jake, what is this?”

“What’s this supposed to mean” They echoed one after the other, making those who had not received and had been curious about it, suddenly let their curiosity go. They had a feeling it was not good at all. How could they have forgotten how ruthless and shrewd Jake could be when he came to the business and the company.

Jake looked at them like they were stupid to ask him such stupid questions.

“That’s your ticket out of my company” He interpreted just in case they did not un-derstand what was written on the docu-ments.

Mr. Andrew bursts out a fit of mocking laughter.

“Jake you’re delusional. We built this company, you can’t make such nonse-nse demands” He sneered while Jake frowned.

“Yes, I can. You built?” He asked scornfully.

“My grandfather built and the Beaus worked our @$$ off fed your bank accounts. If you think your money was that important you should have left it in your bank account and see if it would grow as I and my family have fed the lot’s of you all throu-ghthese years. And don’t forget you were the one who had gambled your shares with me. Be grateful I’m generous enough to offer an amount for it. You should be appreciating me instead of talking back at me” Jake growled, slamming his hand on the table, startling some of them.

“But this–”

“Sign the damn docu-ments and get out of my company” He roared.

“We won’t,” Mr. Andrew said, making Jake co-ck a brow at him. He knew what card the man wanted to pla-y, he wanted to buy time for his crazy pa-rtner, so he let him be.

“According to the agreement we had we’ll give away our shares only if you’re able to fix the software, and unfortunately you have not been able to. So that means this contract will not be sighed by me or any of us here” The man fearlessly declared. Jake couldn’t help but chuckle.

“Then, by all means, be my guest, but be rest @$$ured by each minute you delay signing, my offer reduce by 2%,” He told them smugly, his eyes fiercely looking at every one of them.

…..

Outside the Conference Room

“What the hell is that idiot?” Hillary demanded over the phone.

“Who are you referring to?” Shirley asked confusedly.

“Ask me one more question, and I @$$ure you your stupid sister will be gang taped and found dead on a river Stark na-ked. Now, where is that fool!” She growled. Shirley didn’t nee-d to be told twice who Hillary was referring to, and she was sure she would carry out her threat if she dared provoke her.

“I-i don’t know” Shirley replied in a shaky voice.

“Find him, and tell him to fix that software if he doesn’t want to join his stupid brother in the un-derworld” She threatened, before hanging up.
