EPISODE 94
But, as someone who knows the happiness of being in love, he would never for-ce his son to let his life go.
Louis sighed when he saw his father de-ep in his thinking. He couldn’t help but hu-g his father.
“You are the best dad for all the three of us. And, both of my mothers are really lucky that they got a husband who loves them, dad. Whatever happened wasn’t your fault, so, please don’t blame yourself. That was mom’s choice that she chose to protect the country, she was a br@ve woman. She indeed is. And, she was the best Queen of our Kingdom has never seen. I really hope you will make the right decision too, when the time comes. It’s equally important to have love between the couple as much as it is important to select a right Queen. Take your own time, interact with them and know your heart.” King Edgar said, smiling at his son.
There was a longing in his eyes when he remembered those all moments he had with his first love.
“Both the times, when I selected your mother Rhea and your stepmother Elora, I had a lot of pressure from others, constantly pushing me to choose Olivia’s mother and aunt. However, I never caved in because I know who is the best for me and to my country. So, no matter what the circu-mstances are, don’t compromise if you feel ‘she is the one for me’.” Louis nodded his head.
“I will keep that in my mind, dad. And, who would you think will be the woman who is suitable for me in all the eight ladies? What’s your opinion on them, dad?” He asked.
Depending on what his father feels, Louis wanted to change his plan. If his father is okay with Brina, he can ask his love to concentrate on other things. If not, it will be wise to impress his father first. King Edgar chuckled.
“I really can’t say anything now. The first few events are not so appropriate to judge. Once the competitions in Alpha Academy starts, I will tell you then.” he warmly said, patting his son’s shoulder.
“For now, let’s make a visit to the hospital.” King Edgar said.
“Dad, why are you so interested in meeting Lady Brina? Are you having suspicion about her accident?” Louis asked.
“Not exactly, son. It can be an accident or it might be not. At first, we have to know if Lady Brina really knows horse riding. If she is new to it, then there are high chances it could be an accident. If not, we really have to make sure she gets her justice.” King Edgar said. …
“Lady Brina, do you have any allegation to claim about your accident?” King Edgar asked Brina.
They are now sitting in the private room along with Louis and Charlotte.
“Yes, Your Highness.” Brina claimed. And, as soon as King Edgar heard it, he raised his eyebrow.
“Hmm. Go on, continue what you wanted to say, Lady Brina.” Brina nodded her head.
“Your Highness, I am very familiar enough with all the horses and everything related to racing. So, I’m sure this can’t be just an accident because of my lackness in experience.” she said.
“So, what could this be? A planned sabotage?” he questioned back.
Meanwhile, Louis and Charlotte stayed quiet. They just continued to listen to the conversation between them.
“Your Highness, I can’t judge anyone and it was my own suspicion that it could be a sabotage. I felt something wrong with my horse’s condition during the race.” Brina completed.
She was cautious enough not to blame a specific person. It is because she doesn’t want Olivia to get caught red-handedly. And, if she does, her plan might stop by hitting only one bird, whereas her plan has two birds to be targeted.
“So, how do you want us to bring justice to you?” King Edgar asked.
Though he knows what has to be done, he is simply testing Brina. So far he is impressed! She didn’t right away come to the conclusion in anger or embarras-sed that she got framed. Being patient and thoughtful is the most important trait.
Some people will deliberately provoke so that the other person will make a mistake in anger. A Queen must be immune to it, or else, the future of the Kingdom might be at the stake! And, Brina didn’t prejudge anyone or came to conclusions by simply taking her own conclusions into consideration. She asked for the investigation by stating her doubts and the facts about herself which might bring advantage to her statements that it is not an accident.
She made sure that she didn’t offend anyone. But at the same time she didn’t back off with fear. It showed that she doesn’t feel inferior compared to the other ladies here. This is enough to tell she has enough confidence in herself.
And, at the same time she was aware of the dangers if she offended the people who were more powerful than her. An important trait of the Queen again!
“Your majesty, as everything that happened is related to the horse that I rode, I was thinking that testing the horse’s condition and verifying the reports might give us the lead or strong hint to check on what really has happened.” Brina told.
King Edgar nodded his head. He isn’t surprised because this is the primary thought one could think of.
“The test reports will be on your table by tomorrow morning, Your Majesty.” the personal security chief of King, said.
After pressing his fist on his che-st, he slightly bowed and exited the room to make arrangements for the testing.
“For now, please take some rest, Lady Brina. Till this matter gets solved there won’t be another event taking place.” King Edgar said.
Later, he stood up and left the room. Though Louis wanted to stay, he had many works. He is intending to finish them by dusk and accompany his girlfriend later. ….Charlotte and Hailey looked at Brina.
“I don’t un-derstand what you are doing, Brina. That horse is looking very fine right now. As if nothing happened to it. So, it is futile even if we request for testing.” Hailey deadpanned. Brina smiled.
“Olivia might have given the cure as soon as the competition was completed. And, yes, the results might be in a favor of them. As that drug is off in a very minute quantity and gets absorbed into the blood very slowly, it might be difficult for them to find it with just one blood sample. However, we have three samples each, taken on the very last three days. And, Eliina has sent them for testing in a very discreet manner. So, till that results come, we just have to wait.” Brina said.
“And, when are they going to come?” Charlotte asked.
“According to Eliina, today by midnight.” Brina said.
“After that?” Hailey asked.
“We are going to enjoy the fun of course.” Brina smi-rked.
“We are going to create an internal rifts between her own friends. Let’s see how strong their bond is” Brina laughed.
Charlotte nodded her head with a sm-irk. She remembers what she exactly told Brina a few days back. She said Olivia and her friends, Rebecca and Kiara are so close and so strong. She said it is difficult to break that bond. So, Brina is trying to peel off that strength which is her friends Kiara, Rebecca and their houses.
After she is peeled off from her power, she will be vulnerable like rest of others. Meanwhile, Brina will gain as many as allies she can. This will just turn the tables.
……
After her checkup, Brina returned back to the palace with Charlotte and Hailey. And, by the time she reached her suite, Amelia was waiting outside, with a worried expression.
After the accident took place, not even a single news related to Brina got leaked outside. So, everyone is still not sure of what her condition is.
And, when Amelia found out that Brina would be back, she couldn’t help but wait for her. She is genuinely worried though their friendship is still in the early stage.
“Brina, you fine?” Amelia asked when she saw Brina and others coming out of the elevator.
“I am fine.” Brina smiled at Amelia as she replied. After getting that as-surance from Brina, Amelia couldn’t help but sigh in relief.
She was worried that Olivia is up to something and might not let Brina go this easily.
“Thank God! I was worried you know” Amelia sighed and followed Brina inside.
“I just sprained my leg and I am feeling slightly dizzy because of tablets” Brina chuckled and walked into the living room, slowly. As she sprained her leg, she was walking with difficulty.
“I couldn’t believe Olivia let you go this easily. Is it really an accident or is my guess right?” Amelia asked.
“You are right. It is done by Olivia” Brina agreed, as she relaxed on the couch.
“Then, are you letting her go like this? You were to win the competition but that bitc-h ruined it” Amelia said, anger laced in her sweet voice.
“I possibly can’t go face to face with her and take revenge for this. It will bring nothing but trouble to me” Brina said. “Till I get out of this competition, Olivia will not rest and in addition to this, if I add fuel to her rage by going for revenge, I am afraid I might not be able to refute everything she has for me” Brina told her.
“Are you going to let her go? Just like this?” Amelia asked, slightly disappointed. She has very high expectations for Brina!
“It will look like I am letting it go. However, she will be taken care of by some other people” Brina chuckled.
“Edward?” Amelia asked.
“No! Her own allies itself” Brina smi-rked. And, as soon as those words escaped her li-ps, Amelia was totally stunned to her core. Her allies? How on earth is it possible? Her allies are very loyal one’s!!
“How?” Amelia asked, her voice couldn’t hide her excitement and curiosity.
“You will find it out in the next two days,” Brina said. Amelia nodded her head.
“All right. I was worried about you but it seems like my worry is for nothing. It should be Olivia fir whom I should worry now” Amelia joked as she laughed a bit.
“I will let you rest for now, Brina. And, add these herbs in your tea. It will help you to recover fas-ter from your concussion” saying so, Amelia handed a glas-s box.
Brina examined it and smiled broadly.
“Thanks, Amelia. These will be really helpful” she thanked her.
Brina knows these herbs very well. These are only grown in African forests and are really helpful. Her sister in law used to bring all these from her lavatories and sto-re them for emergency times.
After she died, Brina never cared about all these because she got accustomed to being taken care of by her sister in law and brother to that extent.
“Don’t thank a friend.” Amelia winked playfully.
“I brou-ght them for my father and brother, but I remembered the medics talking about your concussion so, I brou-ght some for you” After Amelia left, Brina dozed off.
Seeing Brina sleeping so soundly, Charlotte stayed behind and Hailey went to run some errands.
At night…
Louis hurried to Brina’s suite throu-ghthe secret pas-sage and by the time he arrived, Brina was still sleeping soundly on the couch.
Charlotte noticed Louis standing near the corner, almost invisible in the dark shadows of the room. “Louis, hey, what happened? Come here” Charlotte whispered.
As his best friend she knows him very well. He is guilty…But little he knows his girlfriend knows about this but chose not to stop it.
Louis pursed his li-ps and sat on the armrest of the couch. He lightly skimmed his fingers on her swollen ankle and his eyes traced her body from her foot to her head. His eyes speaking all the guilt he us going throu-gh.
“She is fine, Louis. Don’t feel guilty all right, she knows this would happen” Charlotte said in the lowly voice.
“She knows!” Louis repeated. His face blackened.
“She was not so sure back then but seems like she predicted this” Charlotte said. As she couldn’t see Louis getting all guilty,she spilled out the beans.
“Hmm. Let her sleep. We will meet you for breakfast tomorrow” Louis said after a few seconds of silence.
Getting her cue, Charlotte bid her goodbye and went back to her suite which she shares with Hailey.
After Charlotte went, Louis looked at his girlfriend and sighed. Leaning towards her, he ki-ssed her forehead and lingered there for a few seconds.
“You are too unpredictable sometimes, hon. At least you should have given me a heads-up right? I almost had a heart attack seeing you fall” Louis whispered.
Is he angry?
No, he isn’t. Well, not to the extent of not talking to her! A conversation will solve everything!
For everything there will be reasons and it is always wise to hear them out. If Brina hadn’t heard to his reasons when he got caught faking his identity, their love wouldn’t have progressed this much.
“Sorry,” Brina said, her voice faint, fragile and a little sleepy.
That cute and weak voice is enough to melt Louis’s heart.
“You woke up!” Louis said, skillfully avoiding the topic.
“Are you angry at me, baby? I didn’t mean to hide my plans; however, I didn’t want to make you worry about me with all my suspicions and presumptions” Brina said, caressing his face with her fingers.
Seeing Louis’s indifferent face, she slowly sat down and held his face, while Louis sat beside her on the couch.
“I told you I will handle everything, baby, you don’t have to worry too much about it. See your face! I am sure you haven’t slept, yesterday” Brina said, pouting her li-ps adorably.
“I can’t stop worrying about you, Brina. Don’t forget that you are my life.” Louis chided her.
“If you want to risk your own life to win, I won’t accept it! I prefer a ‘safe and sound’ wife more than a ‘victorious’ wife, got it?” he angrily said.
And, before she could tell something, Louis stood up and walked towards the kitchen.
“Rest for awhile. I will cook dinner for you” he said. His voice, still angry. He will accept anything but not this!
This time his girlfriend has overdid everything! What if some mishap would have happened? What if she broke her bones or got her head hit?
She would be able to predict Olivia’s plan but not the capabilities and strength of the horse!
There were high chances she might have got injured even more fatally!!
Brina pouted. She never saw Louis this angry.
She is aware that she scared him. But to be honest she ne er thought Olivia would actually use her despicable plan on her rather than Katherine.
It was Katherine till the last. But plan just took a turn.
And, she didn’t think this accident would happen to her.
She predicted something less dangerous.
Brina slowly stood up and walked to Louis and hu-gged him from behind.
Tki-ssing his ne-ck, she cutely said, “I know I am wrong here. I admit it and you can punish me if you want”
It of course made Louis smile. But he controlled it with his poker face.
Getting no response from him, Brina blinked her eyes adorably. “Baby, I am human too. I make mistakes” Brina pouted.
“You kept many secrets from me afraid that I might leave you. In the same way, I was worried you will overexert yourself.” she defended herself.
And this made Louis angry. he turned around and raised his eyebrow, slightly exasperated by her reasoning.
“But, I didn’t risk my life, Brina! And, exerting myself isn’t a serious issue compared to you leaving me. You would have at least told me and I might have helped you to come up with a ‘safe and less risky’ idea right? You are reckless” he chided her.
However, his anger just depicted one thing. It depicted how much he loves her and how worried he is for her.
“Sabrina is reckless. Didn’t you ask me to become myself?” Brina asked him and her tone is nowhere near to arguing. Her voice is soft and affectionate.
It is because she knows who is in wrong here.
Louis pursed his li-ps. “If the old Brina is
reckless to the extent of not caring about herself and if she is this independent of doing everything alone by herself, I would rather prefer my Brina who is cautious, calm and relying on her boyfriend and brother.” he said, his voice disapproving and disappointed.
Brina was left speechless. She couldn’t argue anymore.
She simply didn’t see any meaning in reasoning her mistakes. She deserves this and he has every right to get angry on her.
It was her bad that she crossed her safe line. She is aware of his fear of losing her just like how he lost his mother.
She shouldn’t have been this reckless after knowing about this vunerable fear of him.
“Now, let me cook.” Louis said and brushed off her hands from his T – shirt, before walking away.
And, before Brina could say anything, a call interrupted her. It is from Eliina.
“I will be back in a minute” Brina said and pec-ked his li-ps. She flashed a smile at him as if nothing has happened and then walked back into her bedroom to receive the call.
Before going, she even winked at him and blew a ki-ss.
She was so cute when she did it that it dissipated his anger just like how ice melts.
After Brina disappeared from his sight, Louis chuckled.
What can he do? He can never get angry at her even after trying to this extent!
….
At night…
They finished their dinner and it was quite hilarious for Louis.
His girlfriend was talking continuously, sweet talking to him, acting all lovey dovey. She was filling up his plate, taking care of his nee-ds like a obedient wife from old times.
But Louis didn’t cave in and to be frank he has enjoyed her unwavering attention. He was on cloud nine, hearing all those cheesy words from his wifey.
However, he didn’t speak much and continued being seldom with his words.
It feels so good to be the center of the world for the woman he loves. He felt happy to see this side of Brina.
“I am going to sleep on the couch today. As your ankle is sprained and you are very weak, I don’t want to hurt you. You don’t care about your body, at least let me take care of it” Louis said, as he shifted his pillow to the sofa and adjusted the extra blanket before making himself comfortable in it.
Though he knows he could not stay angry for any longer, he still wanted to test her limits. Maybe after seeing him like this, she might stop taking risks.
“Are you are not going to lull me to sleep, like you always used to do?” she asked, pouting adorably. Blinking her eyes for his attention.
However, Louis didn’t fall for that puppy look.
“I think there is no nee-d for it for a mastermind Brina” Louis pettily answered.
‘Ahh… why am I being this petty? I was rude right now. Did I hurt her?’ Louis thought, smacking his head with an imaginary hand.
He turned around to see his darling, but she just turned to the opposite side, her back facing him.
‘He was so mean, right now. Hmph! No matter how strong or how capable, a girl nee-ds pampering!’ Brina thought.
At midnight..
None of them could sleep and they often turned around to look at each other, but only to see their backs facing them. ‘Enough of this! I shouldn’t be angry at her. There is nothing I will gain from it’ Louis thought and all in sudden he stood up, intending to join her on the bed.
Meanwhile, at the same time. ‘Why am I being stubborn now? Wasn’t it me who made the mistake? He was just concerned for me’ Brina thought and all in sudden even she climbed out of the bed, wanting to squee-zeherself between him and the couch.
And, just in a split of the second, they found themselves facing each other, awkward and a bit shocked.
“Uhmm… I nee-d to use the restroom” Brina said, in a hurry.
“Ahh.. okay!” Louis replied. “I nee-d cold water” ha added.
“It’s in refrigerator” Brina said.
“I know” he told her, intending to walk towards the door.
‘Seems like she doesn’t want to apologise’ he thought but stopped right at the same place.
Meanwhile, Brina turned in another direction, wanting to go for the restroom door
‘Damn! Why did I lie’ she thought and suddenly turned around.
‘What the hell is wrong with me? She knows I don’t drink cold water’ Louis thought.
All of a sudden he turned and Brina turned back at the same time too, getting collided and having Brina’s heads smacked his nose.
“Ouch” “That hurts, woman!” Louis said, ru-b-bing his forehead. Brina chukled.
“Lemme sooth it” she said and ki-ssed on his nose before blowing it with her mouth. “Better?” She asked looking into his love filled eyes with same intensity.
“Who doesn’t care about herself is trying to care about me, so funny” Louis mocked.
However his voice was plauful. It is obvious that his anger dissipated and he was just teasing her.
Brina rolled her eyes inside but puppy eyed at him.
“Let’s stop this, baby. I can’t see you getting angry on me” Brina pouted and pounced into his arms. Even Louis didn’t like this game. He wrapped his arms around her wai-st and hu-gged her ti-ghtly.
Burying his face in the crook of her ne-ck, she said, “Promised me you won’t risk yourself just to win a mere competition. You know how important you are to me! Though it’s a small stunt, still it worries me to death”
“I don’t want to lose you or see you hurt. I have enough of that pain when my mom died. Now, you are the only woman I love in my life..so, I can’t afford to lose you nor I can bear to see you hurt. Promise me, Brina. Promise me you won’t do this again. Promise me you won’t leave me like my mother did” he said, this voice emotinal.
“I promise, Louis. I promise you with all my heart.” Brina promised.
