Episode 25

Before he could open his mouth to talk, a whole bunch of police men started coming out from their hide out. He was surrounded by the policemen who were all along in ambush.
“Daniel, what’s the meaning of this? James asked. “The law is just taking its course” Daniel said.
James was immediately handcuffed right after they had taken the illegal drugs from his possession. It was now difficult for him to even defend himself, cause this time around he was caught right in the act. It will only take a very powerful and influential person in the society to come to his aid. But as it stands now, James will be put in jail for a long time after he has been found guilty. They led him away and placed him behind bars with the illegal drugs kept as an evidence.
Mrs. Johnson had scheduled a meeting with Jax at a restaurant which was away from their town. At least, with this location, it was difficult for anyone to find or even trace them.
Jax got there before Mrs. Johnson arrived. She was late. “What took you so long? Jax asked.
The relationsh!pbetween Jax and Mrs. Johnson had changed over the few months ever since they began engaging in such unscrupulous deeds. Jax had virtually lost all the respect she had for Mrs. Johnson. “Sorry, Ben was a ha-rd nut to crack” Mrs. Johnson said.
“Do you think he knows anything? Jax asked. “I can’t trust him, but I know what to do. ” Mrs. Johnson as-sured her. “Ermmm, don’t you think this is the time you have tell him about me? he has not noticed me and he just sees me like any member of the church. ” Jax asked.
“Not yet, but you know I always keep my promise. Besides I have a plan. He is my son. I know him so for this reason, don’t worry.” Mrs. Johnson said. Apparently, Mrs. Johnson had promised Jax that, ap@rt from her being paid for her services, She was going to make sure Ben marry Jax.
Jax was all along in love with Ben right from when he arrived from the states with James.
She had tried everything in her power to get noticed but Ben on the other hand Ben never looked at her direction. This was actually p@rt of the reasons Jax was helping Mrs. Johnson out with her deeds aside the money she was earning. “Mrs. Johnson, can I ask you a question? Jax asked ” Sure, go ahead” Mrs. Johnson said. ” At least you know why I’m helping you out, you know my intentions and everything. But I don’t un-derstand where you’re coming from, why are you doing all these things? ” Jax asked. ” Young girl, don’t forget your boundaries, you do what I ask of you and pay you for that. I don’t expect such questions….. ” Mrs. Johnson said but was interrupted by a phone call from an unknown number.
It was from the police, they informed her about the arrest of James her son. She had to postpone all other matters that was pending to be discussed with Jax and attend to her son James. It was amazing how Mrs. Johnson handled this issue. Ben was arrested right in front of her however she never took the risk to visit him. But with James, she had to st©p whatever she was doing and go to the police station. James has always been her favorite. She has always treated him specially, than Ben.
Juliet on the other hand was returning from her mother’s place. Her mother had told Juliet not to reveal whatever she knew about herself and her maternal existence to anyone.
Juliet felt complete. For the very first time she was happy. She was happy that Ben and James are actually her siblings.
What actually got her worried was the fact that Daniel was no where to be found. She thought of him and the support Daniel had given her. What would have happened if Daniel never c@m£ into her life. She would have still remained in darkness.
She then decided to go to where Daniel and herself had been staying before her miscarriage.
She found it very difficult to locate the place, but after several hours of looking, she was successful.
To her surprise, she found a gate man at the place.
“wow, Daniel has finally decided to get a gate man” She said to herself as she approached the house.
Another thing that amazed her was how the gate man welcomed her too when he saw her, it seems he had known her.
“Madam welcome” Said the gate man.
“Thank you, I’m looking for your boss” Juliet asked.
“Oh Madam, you are my boss, I don’t know how to answer you again oo Madam” said the gate man.
” You are very funny, I’m looking for Daniel, the one who lives here” She asked.
The gate man looked confused and said.
” Madam, I am the only one that lives here oo, I have lived here alone for the past three years until you showed up last two weeks” The gate man said.
“How come I didn’t see you when I c@m£? She asked.
“Your mother told me you will be coming, I was in my quarters when you arrived. That’s why you didn’t see me. I wanted to introduce myself to you but I later on realized that you had left without me noticing. Forgive me madam, it won’t happen again” The gate man said.
” So you mean, you were all along in this house and I never set my eyes on you? Juliet asked.
“Yes madam, myself I was surprised that you stayed indoors all the time” The gate man said.
” Anyway, the man I c@m£ here with, he is the one am looking for” Juliet asked again.
“Madam, you c@m£ here with someone? I didn’t see any one with you oo” The gate man said.
As much as the issue seemed strange to Juliet, the gate man was smelling of alcohol, so Juliet didn’t take him serious. She thought he was drun!k

Juliet found the situation very strange but again, the gate man was smelling of alcohol so Juliet didn’t take him seriously. She just concluded that he was drun!k.
“You know what, I’ll come back some other time. Take this and use it for something” Juliet said. She handed him some money and left.
Alice, on the other hand, was trying to reach James but to no avail.
She thought that James was trying to pl@ysmart and that got her mad. She had no idea he had been arrested.
She planned to expo-se James and hurt Juliet if she didn’t hear from him by the end of the day. She had tried to eliminate Juliet once before but she had survived.
Alice was responsible for poisoning Juliet at the hospital… She did it because she felt James was having an affair with her.
She had come to that conclusion the day she visited and met Juliet and James together in the living room. What she saw in her mind that day was Juliet placing her head comfortably on James’ l@p.
It wasn’t her fault though… It was not uncommon for James to cheat on her so to her, this was no different.
Meanwhile, Elder John, the church financial secretary had now noticed the tremendous withdrawals by Mrs. Johnson from the church’s account.
He had called the attention of the Elder that visited Mrs. Johnson earlier and arranged a meeting with him.
Elder John had been waiting for long at his office and the other Elder had still not shown up.
It was about an hour past the scheduled time that he arrived.
“Sorry Elder John for my lateness” He apologized as soon he arrived.
Without wasting any more time, the discussion began.
“Elder, I called you because lately I have noticed some hvge withdrawals made by Mrs. Johnson without my approval. It’s even obvious that the entire board is not aware of this. I think we should call for a board meeting immediately and bring it to their notice” said Elder John.
“Elder John, there is something you nee-d to know. Mrs. Johnson is up to something. I must admit that I know about the withdrawals. I went to her place the other time to make inquiries but the answer she gave was not satisfactory. We nee-d to get to the bo-ttomof this matter. ” The Elder said.
“Are you sure of what you’re telling me?” asked Elder John.
“Absolutely, Elder” He answered
“What do we do then?” Elder John asked.
“Let’s call for a meeting with the board members without her notice and then we can all decide” He suggested.
“That’s a good idea. I will do that as soon as possible” Elder John said.
Juliet by this time had gotten home. She met Ben alone at the house. He was in the living room when she c@m£ in. He stood up to hvg her.
They had missed each other. Ben felt it was the right moment for him to tell Juliet what he had really done to her.
“Juliet there is something I nee-d to tell you, kindly sit down” Ben said.
Just as Juliet sat down. Mrs. Johnson c@m£ in.
Ben saw that his mother was very disturbe-d and worried.
She had been crying since she heard that James had been arrested.
“Mum, what is it? Are you OK? he asked.
“I’m just coming from the police station. Your brother has been arrested.” Mrs. Johnson said.
“What! For what? Ben asked
“He was caught in possession of illegal drugs” She said.
“Not again!” Ben said, feeling sorry for James. He wanted to help even after all that James had done to him.
“I want to go to my room now, I’m not feeling well. Jax will be spending the night with us today, Ben, show her the guest room when she comes. I’ll be traveling with her tomorrow morning” Mrs. Johnson said.
“Let me take you to your room.” Juliet said and helped Mrs. Johnson up.
Ben didn’t like the idea of Jax spending the night there, but James’ issue worried him more.
He had no option but to wait for her in the living room.
It was getting late and Juliet had alre-ady gone to be-d.
Jax finally arrived after 11pm. She blamed it on traffic.
Her outfit was cut to fit, ex-posing her beautiful curvy b©dy. She honestly looked stunning.
For the first time, Ben noticed how well endowed she was. Indeed, it was very ha-rd for any man to ignore such a nice figure.
Ben showed her to the guest room and then went into his room to sleep.
Around 1:30am, Jax sneaked into Ben’s room. She was in a silk nightie.
She went close to Ben who was fast asleep and k!$$£d him on thel-ips, gently waking him up.
Ben got up and saw Jax. The scent of her beautiful perfume filled the room. Ben immediately knew what she was up to.
Her k!sswas s-en-sational.. and to be honest, Ben wanted more of it. Ben looked at her and asked “Jax, what are you doing here?”
“This is not right” he said.
Jax shushed him, placing her f!nger on hisl-ips. She followed up with another s-en-sational k!ss. Ben without thinking k!$$£d her back

It was getting intense… they were feeling each others breath now.
Suddenly, Ben c@m£ to his s-en-ses. As difficult as it was, he pushed Jax away. She tried coming back towards him but he stepped aside and st©pped her. “Ben, don’t do this to me. I love you. I have loved you all this while but you never noticed me. I really love you” Jax pleaded.
Surprisingly, there was some form of sincerity in her words. Jax was being truthful this once. She was really in love with Ben.
Ben noticed this and went close to her. He placed his hands on her shoulders and looked into her eyes.
“Jax, how come you are just telling me all these?” he asked. “That’s why I’m here now Ben. I have never loved any man like this before and I’m willing to do anything to prove it to you” Jax said.
Ben was very gentle with her. He asked her to sit by his side so they could talk. “I don’t doubt what you’re telling me. I just don’t want to take advantage of this moment and have S-x with you… That will hurt you more. I have alre-ady done that to someone I really cherish and I’m yet to right my wrongs. I don’t want to do the same thing to you. Let’s find an appropriate time so we can discuss this, plea-se Jax. ” Ben said.
Jax’s conscience tugged at her. She noticed Ben was a good person. She began feeling bad about herself. “Thank you, Ben” she said and stood up to go. Before she left, she turned and said to him, “I have something to tell you. Make time for us then we can talk about it.”
Unfortunately, just as Jax stepped out of Ben’s room and shut the door behind her, she ran into Juliet who was on her way to the kitchen for some water.
Juliet was surprised to see her come from Ben’s room. Juliet didn’t say anything. She just walked past her and went straight into the guest room.
For some reason, Juliet was hurt by what she saw. She didn’t go to the kitchen again for the water. She initially wanted to confront Ben about what she had seen but she quic-kly changed her mind and went into her room. She decided to harbor everything.
Early the next morning, Ben was getting re-ady to go and see James at the police station. Despite everything, he still loved his brother. Just then, there was a knock at his door, it was his mother. She c@m£ in and found Ben dressing up.
“Where are you going this early morning? Mrs. Johnson asked. “To see James. I want to see if I can get the lawyer to get him out before it’s too late” Ben answered “Don’t worry my son. I’ve got it covered. I’ll be meeting the lawyer today” Mrs. Johnson said
“I thought you said you were traveling this morning with Jax” Ben asked. “Yeah, that’s the more reason I’m here. Where is Jax? I went to the guest room but she’s not there” Mrs. Johnson said.
“I haven’t seen her this morning. Could she have left without telling
you?” Ben asked. “Naa, I don’t think so. Let me try reaching her on phone” Mrs. Johnson said and walked out of the room. Before Ben stepped out of his room, he got a phone call from an unknown pri-vate number. He picked up and found out it was Daniel. “Hey Daniel, where are you? I’ve been looking for you since yesterday” Ben said.
“I’m sorry Ben. I had something I nee-ded to take care of. I just called to tell you not to go anywhere within the next hour, someone wants to see you” Daniel said.
“Me? Who is that? Ben asked. “Don’t worry. Just don’t go anywhere in the next hour. Meanwhile, tell Juliet that she will soon hear from me” Daniel said and quic-kly hung up.
Ben couldn’t call back because Daniel had used a pri-vate number. He went to Juliet’s room. She was re-ading her bible when he got there.
“Yes, how may I help you?” Juliet said as she saw Ben enter. “Wow, looks like someb©dy had a bad night!” Ben said when he noticed her unfriendly tone. It was unusual of her but he ignored it.
“Indeed, it was bad. What are you doing in my room?” Juliet asked. “Cool down sis. What has come over you? I just c@m£ to check up on you and I also have a message from Daniel” Ben said.
“What’s the message?” Juliet asked straightaway. “Well, he called me a few minutes ago. He said you will soon hear from him” Ben said. “Ok. Is that all? Juliet asked
“ermmm Yeah. Juliet why are you….. ?” Ben started to ask but Juliet didn’t let him finish.
“I’m going to shower now so see you later!” She said and went into the bathroom.
Ben was shocked. He thought perhaps Juliet had somehow gotten to know that he was the one behind the r@p£.
He went out of her room and to the living room. Mrs. Johnson was on her way out when he got there.
Apparently, she had still not heard from Jax ever since she left the house without her notice that morning. She was on her way to look for her and then to the police station to see James.
About 45 minutes after Mrs. Johnson left, the gate-man c@m£ into the living room where Ben was seated. “Sir, someone is at the gate looking for you,” he said. ” Who is it? Ben asked. ” Sir, I really don’t know” the gate-man answered.
“OK, bring him in” Ben instructed. The gate-man did accordingly.
He c@m£ back with the visitor. Ben was surprised, the visitor was a woman and she did not look familiar in any way. “Good day sir. I’m looking for Ben” she said. “I’m the one madam.” Ben said. “You are Ben? Oh my! You look exactly like your father” the visitor said

“I’m your mother, my son” she said.
Ben looked surprised as he couldn’t believe what he was hearing. “What did you say? Am sure you are in the wrong house ” Ben asked. “I know where I am. I brou-ght you here” She said.
This was getting weird for Ben. He looked more confused and offered her a seat.
As she sat, Ben asked her,” Madam, how do you mean you are my mother? Am sure you know who my family is? Ben asked.
“My son, I can explain only if you give me the chance to” She asked. ” Ermm can you hold on, let my sister join us, perhaps she can un-derstand you more than myself” Ben said and without waiting for her responds, called Juliet out.
Juliet, who was alre-ady upset with him c@m£ still looking angry. ” I beg of you, can you plea-se join us” Ben asked. Without answering him, she greeted the woman and sat down.
“Thank you” Ben said thanking Juliet.
“Madam, you can now explain yourself ” Ben told her. ” I personally raised you up until you were a year old. Your father died when you were eight months old and after, things bec@m£ very difficult for me. I couldn’t pl@ythe role of a mother. I ba-rely had enough food to eat not to talk of feeding you……” She said but interrupted her
“Hold on there, you said my father died when I was eight months old? Ben asked.
“Yes, my son” She answered.
“Meaning you’re claiming that the late Mr. Johnson is not my father? Ben asked.
“Yes my son. Your biological father died of cancer” She said.
Juliet was completely lost by what was going on. She didn’t un-derstand anything but she could tell from the demeanor of the woman that she was being truthful and sincere.
” What is she talking about, Who is this Ben? Juliet asked looking more concerned now.
“That’s exactly what I want to find out. She says she is my mother Juliet. ” Ben said
“What? Juliet said with shock.
“Let’s hear you madam” Ben said then she continued with her explanation. My only option was to leave you in the care of someone worthy. That was when I saw Mr. and Mrs. Johnson.
They agreed to take care of you as their own, on the condition that I kept this adoption a secret. They s£nt you away to the state until I heard you had returned upon the death of your foster father.
Ben, you are my only son, I couldn’t abandon you just like that, I had to think of something. This was my only choice my son. Your name is Ben Austin and I am your mother.” She revealed.
“St©p it, st©p it, I can’t take it anymore” Ben shouted. He left her and Juliet and ran into his room.
It was too much for him to ba-re. He couldn’t handle it. He was just confused as to whether she is telling the truth or not. Juliet went into Ben’s room and found him sitting on his be-d.
She joined him and took his hand. She ru-bbe-d her thumbs on his hand. This made him feel more relaxed .
“Ben, I think you should take it easy now. Don’t draw any conclusions yet. Its amazing that I also went throu-gh the same thing ” Juliet said.
“What are you talking about, Juliet?” Ben asked.
Juliet brushed him off and said ” I think there is only one way to find out if she is telling the truth”
“How? How can we tell, by doing a DNA test I guess? Ben asked
” Nope, I think we should keep her here till Mrs. Johnson comes, then we can confront them both.” Juliet suggested.
Ben felt comfortable as long as he remained beside Juliet. Even with this situation and the news that he had heard today, he still felt guilty for what he had done to Juliet.
Juliet however harbored what she had saw at dawn thus Jax coming from his room.
“Juliet, there is something, I nee-d to tell you” Ben said.
” I alre-ady know Ben” Juliet said. ” You do? Ben asked
“Yeah, I know you’re going out with Jax, I saw her coming out of your room this dawn” Juliet said.
“Oh that, Juliet is not what you think” Ben said.
” This is not the time for this, lets go back and keep the lady waiting until Mum returns” Juliet said and left Ben’s room to the living room. Ben had no option than to also follow.
Mrs. Johnson went to Jax’s house after trying severally to get in t©uçh with her but to no avail. Fortunately, She met Jax at her ap@rtment.
It was obvious that Jax didn’t want to see her. She didn’t give Mrs. Johnson a smiling face, however Mrs. Johnson was able to persuade her into getting into her car so they could talk.
“Jax, why this attitude? You left my house without telling me, your phone have been off all this while. What is wrong with you? If this, is about your money then take it” She said taking a bundle of 50GH¢.
To her surprise, Jax refused it.
“Mrs. Johnson, what do you even hope to achieve from this. I have done a lot and I can’t keep up with this anymore. Excuse me, I don’t want your money” Jax said.
“You must be joking right? This is a prank” Mrs. Johnson said.
“You think so? don’t ever contact me anymore, I’m done” Jax said and got down from the car ban-ging the door right at Mrs. Johnson’s face.
She didn’t believe what just happened. It was like a dream to her.
” She must be upset about something, I know she will be back. ” Mrs. Johnson said to herself.
Mrs. Johnson went straight to the police station. She was not allowed to see her son James with a reason best known to the authorities.
She couldn’t bear it. She had to create a scene at the station for not allowing her to see her son. The only thing that restrained her from creating any more problems was the fact that she was threatened to st©p her actions or will be arrested.
There was nothing more she could do. For the first time you could tell how frustrated Mrs. Johnson was.
She had no option than to go back home. Her day just went bad. Jax rejecting her and now the police disallowing her to see her son.
In no time she got back home. As soon as she opened the door leading to the living room, she was shocked upon seeing Ben, Juliet and the lady who claims that she is the biological mother of Ben
