Chapter twenty-one

Harley thought of going to Cyrus’ room but she changed her mind.
She wasn’t sure if he was mad at her or not, Cyrus was just so difficult to un-derstand.
Alex was given permission and he left in the morning.
Since Alex wasn’t around, Harley had to join another trainer to train for that day.
Harley couldn’t keep what she saw to herself, she wanted to tell Cyrus.
“Hey!!!”, One lady called Cyrus and he turned to her.
Everyone just looked at them shocked, they have never seen anyone disrespect him like that and the one that shocked them the most was when he smiled at her.
“Gosh! You look so handsome now, I can’t believe that I have missed you so much.”, She said as she hug-ged him.
“I thought he doesn’t like people touching him, so anyone can touch him apart from me”, Harley said as she glared at the both of them.
“When did you come back?”, He asked as hugging her back.
“Just yesterday night, I just wanted to see you. You have grown so much.”, She said.
“I should be the one saying that, you were still a kid the last time we saw each other.”, He said.
“Has he forgotten that he has a girlfriend? Maybe he is doing this to get back at me”, Harley thought.
“They look so close, if that is his girlfriend then they would look so good together.”, Someone said and they agreed.
“Or course”, Harley replied with a for-ced smile.
After a while, the lady left and Harley sneaked into Cyrus room throu-ghthe window to confront him.
Immediately he came out of the bathroom shirtless with only his short, she forgot what she was going to say.
“Did you just come to stare at me?”, He asked and she finally took her gaze away from his che-st.
“I came to tell you that your girlfriend is so beauty.”, She replied and Cyrus furrowed his brows.
“What are you saying? You came to tell me that you are beautiful?”
“Oh so you remember that I am your girlfriend and yet you got yourself another girlfriend, yesterday you told me I was ugly and today, you found a beautiful girlfriend.”, She said and Cyrus chuckled.
“How is this even funny to you? I am mad at you right now.”, She said as she sat on his bed.
“I didn’t say you are ugly, I said you are ugly with makeup, there is a difference.”, He replied.
“You didn’t even deny that she is not your girlfriend.”
“She is not, are you happy now?”
“She tou-ched and hug-ged you and you hug-ged her back with a sweet smile, everyone was saying that you look good together.”, She said and he just smiled as he walked towards his wardrobe to pick a shirt.
“You are just being jealous, she is the only family that I have, she is the only person of mine that cares about me. I haven’t seen her in ages and I am sure that her parents don’t know that she came to see me or else, she will be in great trouble.”, He explained.
“So that was the only reason you came, you didn’t miss me? Sorry about last night, you must have been thinking that I was mad at you, I was just not okay.”, He replied.
“I missed you and you don’t have to apologise, I shouldn’t have asked that, it won’t happen again I promise.”, She said.
“I know you are just curious but don’t worry I will tell you about it very soon.”, He said and she nodded.
“I came to tell you something.”, She said and he sat down beside her.
“Whatever you have to say can wait till after the kis-s.”, He said as he claimed her li-ps.
“You don’t have to get jealous, she is my cousin and she is the only woman apart from you that can touch me like that and hug me.”, He said and she felt bu-tterflies in her tummy.
“Why are you even acting shy all of a sudden?”, He asked and she blus-hed.
“So what do you want to tell me?”
“Yesterday I saw Alex entering the academy, he said that he went to see his ill mom and treat her.”
“Though he asked me not to tell you but he really seemed suspicious, I’m sorry if I am doubting Alex.”, She said and Cyrus sighed.
“He told you that he went to heal his sick mom yesterday night?”, He asked and she nodded.
“Did he tell you why he didn’t ask for my permission?”
“He said that you wouldn’t allow him to go yesterday cos it was very late.”, She replied.
“Alex please don’t be the spy.”, he said inwardly.
“If Alex is the spy then what would you do?”, She asked him.
“I don’t know, I …. He’s the only person I trust so much in this academy, he has been with for so many years and he would be the last person I would suspect to betray me.”
“If he is really the betrayal then I don’t know what I will do, I don’t want to suspect him, I don’t want to find out if he is the spy or not, I just want him to be here with me and even if I have to pretend not to suspect him, I would.”, He said.
“I will find out for you, if you are scared to know what the truth might be, then I will find out for you.”, She said.
“No, I don’t want you involved.”, He said.
“Trust me on this Cyrus — I know you are scared that something bad will happen to me but I a-ssure you that I will be safe.”, She said.
“No, I’m saying no and you have to listen to me.”, He said firmly.
“Please just trust me on this.”, She pleaded.
“Why do you want to do this so badly? You are putting your life at risk.”
“I just want to protect you, you don’t always have to protect people, you also need to be protected.”, She said and he scoffed.
“Protected from what? Nothing can happen to me.”, He said.
“You need to be protected from people who will betray you, I Know you can’t die but you can feel pain — sometimes dying is better than getting tortured, I Know how much you trust and love Alex and that’s why I need to do this, I don’t want you to be in pain anymore.”, She said.
“I don’t go throu-ghany pain, I don’t know what you are talking about.”, He said.
“You don’t have to lie to me, I know.”, She said.
“So what is your plan?”, He said giving in to his stubborn girlfriend.
“I will tell Alex that I don’t want to be with you anymore and I will just say different type of things and if he is truly the spy, he would tell Magnus about this and if he isn’t then Magnus wouldn’t know.”, She said.
“And what if Magnus ask you to join him?”, He asked.
“I will just play along and tell him to give me more time to think about it.”, She replied.
“I’m not in support of this.”, Cyrus simply said.
“I know but please trust me on this, it is better we find out the spy on time than something dangerous happens.”, She said but Cyrus wasn’t still convinced.
“Just make sure you don’t do anything without informing me first and anytime you are in danger, talk to me throu-ghyour mind.”, He said and she nodded.
“Thank you for trusting me on this this.”, She said.
“It doesn’t mean I am in support of your plan.”, He said looking away.
“I will work on my powers to protect you.”
“I don’t need any protection.”, He muttered.
“You are just too proud to admit it.”, She said and rolled her eyes.
“Are you talking to your master like that? And did you just roll your eyes at me?”, He asked in disbelief and she rolled her eyes again.
“When it’s only the two of us, you are my boyfriend. You just reminded me of the last time you backed out right in front of me, that was the first time I yelled at you and called you by your name.”, She said and giggled.
“Is that funny? You kept disobeying me even when I said you should stay away from me.”, He said and she laughed.
“I’m the persistent type and I always get what I want.”, She said and he rolled his eyes.
“You were just lucky that I happened to develop feelings for you as well.”
“I want to kis-s you right now.”, She said and brou-ght her face closer.
“You should go back to your room, I need some privacy.”, He said standing up.
Harley withdrew her face in disappointment and embarra-ssment.
“Good job! You will surely regret refusing to kis-s me.”, She threatened and he laughed.
