Chapter thirteen & fourteen

After they ended their mission, everyone gathered back to the bus and then they realized that three people were missing.
Lord Cyrus… Ember and Harley.
Cyrus went round looking for Harley, he closed his eyes and tried connecting to where she was and he saw an abondoned building and he used his power to locate it.
He was surprised to see the building on fire and Harley trapped in it.
“Hailey.”, He called and she turned to his direction.
Cyrus …! Are you really the one?”, She asked and he raised his brow.
“Was she really calling him by his name again?”
“Do I look like different?”, He asked still with his cold and huskily voice.
“Thank you for coming for me Cyrus.”, She said as she bursted into tears and rushed to hug him.
“Don’t touch me, I don’t ….!”, He didn’t finish his statement when Harley hug-ged him ti-ghtly like her life depended on it.
“Let’s get of here.”, He said releasing himself for her grip as he carried her in a bridal style.
“I really thought I was going to die.”, She said as she began to sob and Cyrus almost scoffed.
Emily from outside the building used her power to kill the power. She controls water.
Cyrus got outside and he dropped her and everyone surrounded her.
“Are you okay?”, Alex said and Cyrus looked away.
He must really admit — he has been having a weird thought that Alex has fallen for Harley… Maybe that was why he didn’t want her to be killed.
Cyrus was about leaving to look for ember when she appeared.
“Where did you go to?”, He asked and she was about to reply when she set her eyes on Harley and she looked I’m shock.
“How did she survive? Wasn’t she struck in the fire?”
Then suddenly she burst into tears and pointed at Harley.
“She — she is working with magnum, she tried killing me then I used my power by setting that place on fire.”, Ember said admist tears and Cyrus turned to look at Harley.
“No she is a liar, she is the one working for Magnus, she tried killing me that’s why she set the place on fire.”, Harley said and everyone just stared at each other confused.
“Cyrus I know that I haven’t been been nice to Harley but you know I would never kill and betray you because that’s how much I love you.”, Ember said as tears rolled down her face.
“No — please believe me, she is a liar, she tried killing me, she is working with the enemy to bring you down.”, Harley said trying to defend herself.
“Let’s go back, we will settle this when we get back.”, Cyrus said.
Ember smi-rked seeing that she put everyone in a ti-ght corner, at least not everyone will believe Harley especially Cyrus.

Everyone a-ssembled in the hall because whenever someone happens and it needs to be investigated, it is usually done in the hall, Infront of everyone.
Harley said ember stood in the front while Cyrus, Alex and the rest sat down facing them.
Harley closed her eyes to read Emily mind, she really has to get it right this time around.
“I just need to get you out of the picture and Cyrus would do that himself.”
“What took you to the abondoned building?”, Alex asked Harley.
“Magnus took me there, he wanted to take advantage of me then Ember appeared saying that they should kill me.”, She explained.
“What about you Ember?”, He asked.
“Well it’s the same thing for me also, I was for-cefully taken there by Magnus and then Harley appeared saying that I should be killed.”, Ember replied.
“Why did Magnus take you there ember?”
“He wanted me to join his group because he wants me to betray Cyrus but of course I rejected his offer then Harley appeared saying that I wasn’t of a use then and I’m ruining her plan of making Cyrus fall for her, she then asked Magnus to kill me.”, She explained.
“You are a liar.”, Harley shouted.
“When did you escape then? I mean … How come Harley was the only person lord Cyrus met there?”, He asked.
“Magnus left her to finish me off and disappeared then I used my power to set the place on fire and escape.”, She replied.
“How did you escape?”
“Throu-ghthe door of course, you know I can only control fire, I can’t teleport.”, She replied.
“She is twisting it, she was the one that asked magus to kill me since that was the only opportunity she had, then I told her I was pregnant but she still set the place on fire and disappeared with Magnus, she is a traitor.”, Harley said looking at Cyrus who only stared at her.
She still wondered why even till now she still can’t read his mind.
Emily had explained to her that, some people guide that mind to avoid being read by people and Cyrus was not excluded.
“You can call ru-by to read my memory and her memory.”, Harley said.
“ru-by is your friend right? Why should we call your friend to do that? How do we know if she is telling the truth?”, One of the superior and everyone looked at Cyrus who was just silent throu-ghout.
“Bring molly here.”, He instructed and some guards went to bring molly.
When molly cane out, everyone looked at her in disgust and irritation, she was really tortured, her face was disfigured and she was bleeding everywhere.
Only few people noticed that some of her fingers were caught off.
Harley became very scared, she wondered if they is what they would do to her if they find her guilty.
Molly was thrown on the face in front of the judges.
“Who among this two is working for Magnus?”, Cyrus asked and Molly looked at the two if them and said nothing.
Normally she was supposed to say ember because her mission was to make Cyrus love Harley and she can’t afford to say anything that will make Cyrus hate Harley but she felt wronged by Magnus.
He had a-ssured her that she wouldn’t her caught and even if she gets caught, he would rescue her but he didn’t fulfill any of his promises.
He just let her to die, so she has decided to ruin his plans too.
“Harley — she works for Magnus.”, She replied and everyone gasped.
“Her mission is to fool you and make sure you fall for her then she would betray you like Ariel did.”, She replied and Harley jaw just dropped.
She looked at Ember and she saw a smile stretch on her li-ps.
“They are both lying, I don’t know what they are talking about. Please believe me.”, Harley said on her knees.
“Let’s continue this tomorrow.”, Cyrus said.
“No … We should finish it today — right now. Ember has been with us for years and this didn’t happen but the moment this girl showed up, everything changed, even the way you behave towards her is different.”, One superior said.
“We have all the evidence that says the new lady is guilty and yet you still want to postpone this till tomorrow?”, Another said.
“This has never happened before.”, Another said.
“Are you questioning my authority?”, He asked and they all looked down.
“We are postponing this either you all like it or not.”, He said standing up.
“Whip her 50 and lock her up without giving her anything including water, no one is allowed to see her without my permission, till then I will decide on what to do with her.”, He said and Harley broke down in tears.
“50? How on earth will she even survive that?”, she thought.
“You should think twice because you mess with someone like me.”, Ember said and Harley slapped her angrily getting into any round of trouble.
Everyone looked at Cyrus waiting for his statement on what just happened and Cyrus just looked at Harley in disbelief.
“Why do you always get into trouble?”, he thought and Harley heard his thought.
Yes she wasn’t mistaken — she just read his thoughts.
“Does that mean he is worried about me?”, she wondered.

Chapter fifteen

Cyrus didn’t know what to think again. He trusts ember so much but Harley… Something told him that she wasn’t lying either.
He just doesn’t want to imagine that ember would betray him.
He was put in a ti-ght situation when he was asked to give her punishment.
He badly wants Harley to be innocent but then ember would be guilty.
He can’t deny that he was already getting attra-cted to Harley.
One has to be the betrayal.
When Harley was whipped for the fifth time, Cyrus couldn’t bear it anymore.
He decided to use his power to share her pain, just as the mark was appearing on her back, it was appearing on his but the pain she was feeling was less.
Harley was surprised when it got to a time, she didn’t feel any pain, she just felt the whip touching her.
Alex was puzzled when she stop groa-ning in pain, he looked at Cyrus to see if he was amazed too but what he saw shocked him even more.
Cyrus clenched his fist in great pain and held his breath.
“Is he …!”, he trailed off finally un-derstand the situation.
“Lock her up and make sure no one sees her without my permission.”, Cyrus managed to say and left.
“What was I doing? Am I crazy?”, He asked immediately as he looked at his back on his mirror.
“Why am I so concerned about her? What if she turns out to be fooling me?”, he thought.
“Lord Cyrus…!”, Alex called and Cyrus turned to look at him with a grumpy face.
“What is it?”, He asked wearing his clothes back.
“Your back ….”, Alex said Cyrus just growled.
“What do you want?”, He asked.
“Your back is bleeding.”, Alex pointed out.
“So? It will later heal.”, He said with an expression “is that all?”
“Do you like Hailey, Alex?”, He asked and Alex furrowed his brows.
“Why do you ask lord Cyrus?”, He replied with a question.
“I want you give you both my blessing, she looks so happy with you.”, He said and Alex chuckled.
He couldn’t believe that his lord Cyrus was being jealous right now.
“I don’t like her, neither does she like me, she has someone she likes.”, He replied and Cyrus felt happy, he just didn’t show it.
“Lord Cyrus if you like her so much to bear the pain for her, why don’t you just give her a chance?”, Alex said.
“What are you talking about? Are you talking to me causally?”, He said trying to change the topic.
“Do you think Harley is actually the betrayal?”, Alex asked and Cyrus just became mute.
How can he admit that he actually hope that Harley is the one telling the truth?
“What do you think?”, He threw the question back to Alex.
“I do think ember is just trying to frame Harley, she can do anything when she is desperate.”, Alex replied.
“I know what Ember is capable of doing, she is capable of doing what she is accusing hailey of but I don’t think she would betray me and Hailey… Something tells me that she is telling the truth.”, Cyrus said.
“Send for ru-by, I want to see her.”, Cyrus demanded.

Harley just sat down in the dungeon wondering the miracle that just happened, her mind didn’t even go to food at the moment.
“Do I have another power?”, She wondered.
Then suddenly Cyrus appeared with ru-by and Alex.
They brou-ght Harley out.
“Read it.”, Cyrus instructed and ru-by tou-ched Harley’s head and closed her eyes.
“What did you see?”, He asked and Harley prayed that things would go in her favour.
“Magnus teleported Harley to an abondoned building and ember appeared. Then after some time, ember set the place on fire and disappeared with Magnus, leaving Harley there. Harley tried moving but she couldn’t until you appeared.”, ru-by said.
“What happened when I appeared?”, Cyrus asked.
He wanted to confirm if she would say what really happened.
“Harley rushed to hug you and then you carried her out of the place.”, She replied and Cyrus did not know what do feel.
Harley was telling the truth and Emily was the betrayal.
She is working with his greatest enemy.
“You two should leave us.”, He said icily and Alex and ru-by left.
“You are not excluded.”, He said to the guards and they left too.
Harley couldn’t take the way he was intensely staring at her, she had to look down.
She was nervously waiting for what he was going to say, maybe his words will be I’m sorry.
“Are you crazy? You planned on fighting Magnus all by yourself? Do you really want to die?”, He yelled and she looked at her confused.
“Isn’t he supposed to apologise for punishing me wrongly?”, She wondered.
“Why are you yelling at me?”, She found herself yelling back and his eyes wide-ned.
What audacity!
“I know that you find it ha-rd to trust me more than your girlfriend but can’t you trust the love I have for you? I truly meant it, I don’t care if you are a terrible person, I just love you.”, She said and Cyrus just stared at her trying to figure out if she was really talking to him.
“Are you talking back at me?”, He asked pointing at himself.
“You really confuse me — I would rather go back to my boyfriend in school than to have one sided love.”, She said looking innocent.
“I told you that it can’t work because I can’t reciprocate your feelings.”, He said.
“I won’t come back to you if you ask me to later on.”, She said and Cyrus raised his brow.
“Do you realize who you are talking to?”
“I’m talking to the man I love right now, why are you even playing ha-rd to get?”, She said and Cyrus looked around to confirm if he was in the right place.
“Let’s go.”, He said and she shook her head.
It was time for her to be dramatic.
“I won’t move an inch until you tell me how you truly feel.”, She said.
“Fine you can stay here.”, He said as he turned to go and she ran after him.
“Lord Cyrus you can released this lady.”, One of the superior said.
Cyrus wondered why they got to know but he just pushed that away.
“You might be the head here but you also need to inform us first.”
“This lady here is clearing using you.”, Another said.
“She is innocent and she can’t stay here locked up, if you can’t accept it then deal with it.”, He said and they looked at him in shock
“We can’t let you make a mistake again like you did with Ariel.”, They said and Cyrus got angry.
“Why must you bring that up again? If you don’t want me to do anything I will regret then stay out of my way.”, He threatened angrily.
They know better than to make him more angry.
They just watch him leave with Harley.
