Adelaide watched as the spider pa-ssed the tree Lucian climbed and she exhaled in relief
“Your majesty,please come now. The spider left” She said
Lucian jumped down,breathing heavily and Adelaide immediately rushed to him
“Are you okay?” She asked and touched his shoulder
Lucian looked at her
“Did you see me running?” He asked and Adelaide immediately shook her head
“I didn’t see anything my king” She replied and Lucian nodded
“Good” He said and sighed out
“Let’s go now” Adelaide said and they both left
******
PALACE**
King Lucian and Adelaide entered the king’s chamber only to find queen Sofia and Yasmin there waiting. Lucian already removed the veil
Adelaide stood still at once
“Mother” King Lucian called
Queen Sofia took a glance at Adelaide before looking at Lucian
“Where are you coming from?? Dressed like this?” She asked
Lucian turned to Adelaide
“Leave” he said,Adelaide bowed at once and immediately walked out
King Lucian faced the queen back
“Have you been waiting?” He asked
“What do you mean? I’ve been worried all day” Queen Sofia said
“As you can see,i’m fine mother” Lucian smiled
“But still,it’s dangerous walking around without any guards…..”
“Mother” Lucian cut in and she stopped
“I will take my leave ” She muttered and walked out
King Lucian faced Yasmin and she bowed
“Good evening your majesty” She said
“Good evening Lady Matilda,I guess you’ve been waiting all day” Lucian said
“Yes,but don’t worry about me. I’m completely okay with it,I think you really need the fresh air your majesty” She smiled
“I’m glad you really think that way” Lucian smiled
“You look tired your majesty,can I at least pour you some water? I can do that” Yasmin said
“No I’m fine” King Lucian said and Yasmin nodded
“I guess you need some rest,I will take my leave now. Please make some space for me next time I’m here my king” She muttered
“I’m sorry I kept you waiting” Lucian said
“Goodbye your majesty” She bowed and walked out
She sighed out loudly
‘Does he even care about my feelings at all? How can he leave the palace with an ordinary maid and he won’t even act nice toward me??’
She continue talking inwardly until she Saw Matilda,she was on her way to the king’s chamber also
They both glared at each other as usual before walking by each other
King Lucian was just about leaving the lounge when Matilda entered
“My king” She called and Lucian turned
“Are you okay? Did you get hurt?” Matilda rushed her question with a worried look on her face while she tried checking him out
“I don’t think I look sick” Lucian said and she stopped
“I’m sorry your majesty…I’m just worried since I heard you went out with the maid” Matilda muttered
“So you think she’s going to hurt me?” King Lucian asked
“Yes,she might put you In trouble” Matilda replied and Lucian nodded
“I’m glad you’re fine anyway,you should take your bath and rest. I will help with that” she added
“You don’t have to…..”
“I have to and I’m going to,my king you told me you’re not angry with me anymore” Matilda snapped
“That’s right” Lucian said
“Then why haven’t you sent for me? I’ve been waiting for your calls but never got one,I’m really sad and bothered about it. It feels like you don’t want me anymore and you care about your maid more than me” Matilda muttered
“Are you feeling insecure because of a maid now Matilda?”
“You are making me feel this way,you don’t care about me your majesty” She replied
“Who said I don’t care about you? I care about you,so stop being extra or insecure” King Lucian said
“Then should I come over tonight? I miss you so much my King and I can’t wait to have you again,so please let me spend the night with you” Matilda said
Lucian nodded and she immediately smiled
“I will be here then” She said

KITCHEN**
Adelaide entered and met Eleanor and some other maids working,she walked to Eleanor
“Hey ”
Eleanor gasped immediately
“Adel! You’re finally back” She said and Adelaide nodded
“I heard you left the palace with the king,how was it? Everyone was worried especially the king’s ladies” Eleanor said
“King’s ladies?” Adelaide asked again
“Of course,Lady Yasmin and Lady Matilda” Eleanor replied
“Lady Yasmin….who is she to be worried about the king?” Adelaide asked
“Seriously? You don’t know?”
Adelaide shook her head
“She’s probably one of the lists of ladies who might get married to the king soon” Eleanor said and Adelaide sighed
“I see” She muttered when she remembered how she slapped her on the test day and the king saved her.
“Well for me,she doesn’t worth it” Eleanor scoffed
“What do you mean? She’s beautiful and young” Adelaide said
“A queen shouldn’t just be beautiful Adel,good attitude matters a lot,that’s why everyone love the mistress. Well I will be going with the mistress and other maids tomorrow to give the old people some foods” Eleanor smiled dreamily
“Wow,really?”
“Of course,I told you the mistress is really nice,she should be the queen not anyone else” Eleanor said and Adelaide bite her li-ps slowly
“Let’s go,I’m done” She muttered and they both walked out of the kitchen
“Have you seen Kai?” Adelaide asked
“Nope,haven’t seen him all day. I guess he’s finally getting busy,that lazy idiot” Eleanor chuckled
A maid stopped in front of them
“Adelaide,the queen mother want you in her suite right away” She said
Adelaide and Eleanor Exchanged glances
“Are you in trouble?” Eleanor asked
“I hope not” Adelaide mumbled before she followed the maid
Eleanor watched them as they walked away,just then Carl and Jimmy rushed in,Carl ran off while Jimmy stopped in front of her.
“Oh…Hi” Eleanor smiled softly
“You’re always smiling,I guess it’s an habit” Jimmy muttered
“You always see me smiling?” Eleanor asked
“Yeah,the other day I saw you with one of the guards and you were really smiling brightly,it’s the same smile right now” Jimmy said
“Oh,I guess that was Kai” Eleanor said
“Then,see you later” Jimmy said and walked away
“Smiling brightly? Me?” Eleanor touched her cheeks and smiled

QUEEN SOFIA’S SUITE**
“Answer me!! Why would you sneak out of the palace with the king!! What if he got hurt?!!” Queen Sofia yelled angrily at Adelaide whose head remained bowed without saying a word
“Mother,that’s enough. As long as brother is okay with it,don’t you think you’re wrong for scolding Adelaide?? Brother isn’t a kid…. ”
“But he’s the king! He’s never done this in his six years!!” She snapped and faced Adelaide again
“If anything like this happen again,consider yourself out of this palace,do you get that?!”
“Yes….queen mother” Adelaide said
“You are getting your punishment tomorrow,you can leave for now” Queen Sofia said
Adelaide bowed and walked out immediately
“Mother,that was too much” Lisa said
“It’s my responsibility to make sure my son is safe,you don’t know how I was feeling all day like my son was in danger out there without Carl beside him. You know about his phobia also,what if a spider appear all of a sudden and he get hurt,what will I do about that? I know he’s not a kid but still I get worried about him,same goes to you also,I’m your mother no matter how old you get” Queen Sofia said
Lisa sighed and went to hug her
“It’s okay,we should be glad brother is fine. You refuse to eat lunch,can you eat now? He’s back” Lisa muttered

As Adelaide walked out of the queen’s suite,she was lost in thought. She was worried about Lucian and couldn’t take everything he pa-ssed throu-ghout of her mind.
“Adelaide” Kai ran after her and she stopped walking
“Kai” she smiled
“Where have you been? I missed your face” Kai said and Adelaide chuckled
“I’m serious” Kai said and pulled her into a hug

NIGHT★KING’S OFFICE**
Adelaide walked in and met Carl telling him some stuffs,she stood at one end of the big office watching them.
Soon,Carl walked out and she moved closer
“My king” She bowed and King Lucian looked up
He was now dressed like a royal he is,always looking handsome even though it’s night.
“You’ve been working,you should come for dinner” Adelaide said
“Thanks to you,I came to meet bunch of works waiting for me” Lucian said
“I’m sorry your majesty” Adelaide bowed
“Is Maltida there already? I’m having dinner with her” Lucian said as he stood up
Adelaide immediately took her li-ps in
“The mistress is not there yet,I can call for her if you want” She muttered
“You don’t have to,she will be there. Let’s go” Lucian said and walked out while Adelaide followed him
‘They are really having dinner together?’ She said inwardly as she walked behind him
Everyone kept on bowing as they walked until they got closer to the chamber,Matilda showed up.
She was dressed so beautifully,her hair looking so neat and pretty. Adelaide’s eyes followed her every steps,Matilda immediately smiled when she saw the king.
She quickly walked to them
“I was afraid I was keeping you waiting” Matilda said as she started walking beside Lucian while Adelaide was behind them
“Your dress look beautiful” Lucian said and Matilda blus-hed
“Thank you your highness” She said
Adelaide pressed her fingers
They finally entered the chamber,King Lucian and Matilda settled down In the dinning room and Adelaide started serving the meals.
“Please enjoy” She muttered after she was done
“Thank you” Matilda smiled at her
Adelaide stood there watching them as they eat and talk,she was feeling so nervous and uncomfortable. It only worsen because Matilda wouldn’t stop sending her to pour her wine,get her something on the floor and others.
Soon,they finished eating.
Matilda and Lucian stood up,they both went In together.
“Seriously? He didn’t even spare me a glance,what am I expecting? I’m just a maid” She said inwardly as she began packing the dishes
She left the chamber

Lisa stood beside a pillar staring at Carl as he did the sword practice
It seems like a long minutes until Carl suddenly turned
“When are you going to stop staring and come out,,princess?” He asked
“So you saw me all along” She mumbled and took in her bottom li-p before going out
“Why are you here?” Carl asked
“You went to search for my brother,you must be tired. You should take a rest” Lisa said and walked closer
She handed a small bag to him
“What is it?” Carl asked without taking it from her
“You can take your bath with it and you will have a wonderful night rest” Lisa smiled
Carl took it from her
“Thank you” He muttered and walked away
Lisa scoffed and turned back to look at him
“That arrogant guard,just thank you and he left me standing? Should I teach him a lesson?” She rolled her eyes and walked away angrily

NEXT MORNING**
King Lucian watched as Adelaide helped him put on his robe,she was unusually quiet and her mood wasn’t the usual one he knew. She kept avoiding his gazes too.
“Are you okay?” He broke the silence
“I’m fine your majesty” Adelaide muttered
“You are free to tell me if anything is bothering you” King Lucian said and Adelaide looked up
Lucian raised his brows expecting her to talk
“I’m fine” She mumbled and looked away again
“Then cheer up,I don’t like your face right now” Lucian said
“How was your night your majesty,I’m sorry I didn’t ask earlier” Adelaide said
“Good” King Lucian said
‘Of course it should,his mistress spends the night with his’ Adelaide thought
“My king,can you please sit down. Your hair…..”
“Is something bothering you?” Lucian cut in
She looked up and their eyes met
They continue staring at each other without looking away.
“My King,are you in?” They heard Matilda’s voice and a sudden frown escape Adelaide’s face
“My King” Matilda called again
“Can I come in?” She asked
Before Lucian could reply,Adelaide wrapped her arms around him and hug-ged him tightly. Shocking Lucian,he looked down at her and she shook her head
“Don’t let her in” She muttered and hug-ged him more tightly before resting her head on his chest.
