Chapter 4 & 5
Arabella woke up to a bright new day. Today is another day. Another day to begin getting close to her daughter. She thought as she got out of bed to use the bathroom.
She had been a-ssigned to the staff quaters and although the room given to her is a room she isn’t used to. She will bear with it and that’s because her daughter is far more important to her.
Dressed and ready for the day. She went to the kitchen where she saw three maid preparing the food.
“Good morning everyone. Am Bella Blake. The new Nanny”She greeted them.
The two responded as if they were being forced while the older lady who seemed to be the boss in the kitchen replied cheerfully.
Liking the woman due to her positive attitude. She went to her.
“You seem cheerful for your first day” Mrs Milly said
“I should be since have been given this job. I have to be cheerful”She said happily.
“I hope that last”Mrs Milly replied.
“Why do you say so?”She asked feeling curious.
“That’s because the young miss isn’t someone you can handle. I will advise you to quit as fast as you can”one of the two girls in the room said.
“Why? Is the young miss that dangerous?”Arabella asked.
“More than dangerous. She sent all her previous nanny away and that’s because she doesn’t want anyone of them here”The second lady replied.
“How can a little girl be successful in getting rid of her previous nanny. That’s impossible”Arabella said.
“One of them was sent away due to the bees she had put in the room and it turns out that she was Allergic to it . The poor thing had to spend a whole week in the hospital” the first lady told her.
“And what about the one of the ants. The young miss had put a lot of ants on the nanny bed. Unknown to the poor thing. She had gotten into the bed only to be bitten by it. Two weeks of being hospitalised. If it hadn’t been for Mr Gerald influence and wealth. She would be suing him”The second girl told her .
“Sounds a bit scary”Arabella muttered wondering how her daughter got to know all of those tricks.
“She’s just being protective” Mrs Milly stated.
“Being an orphan at a tender age can tend to make one feel lonely. When Mr Gerald took over her guardianship. He gave her his time but when he began hiring nanny. His time was taken from her”
“A child who lost her parent would certainly want to feel love from her relative but Mr Gerald being him doesn’t even give her that time and that’s why she resorts to getting rid of the nanny and most importantly. The nanny that were hired in the past were only after Mr Gerald attention. They weren’t really interested in her. That’s why she resulted to doing such thing”Mrs Milly explained.
“If that’s her real reason. She has nothing to worry about from me. I certainly am not interested in Mr Gerald just as am sure that he wouldn’t be interested in me”Arabella said.
“I really hope you keep that in mind” Gerald said by the door way and they all turned to look at him.
“Good morning”He greeted as he walked into the room to seat on a particular table so he could read while he have his morning coffee.
“Do you intend to eat here?”Arabella find herself asking.
“This is where I eat . Why do you ask?”He said not even giving her a glance.
“Nothing sir”She replied seeing that it’s the first time that she would see a boss eating in the kitchen instead of the breakfast table.
“Shouldn’t you be with Fiona?”He asked now starring at her.
” Am just going to……”
“The girl is your first priority. If you have anything to say or do. That should be done later. I expect you to know that”He said annoying her.
“Yes sir. I will go to her now”She replied as she turned to leave but then she stopped to give him a reply.
“I know what my job entail sir and i won’t be wasting my time trying to get your attention like the other nanny did. Just know that to me. You will only be my boss and nothing else. I just said that to put your mind at peace” She said making it known to him that she won’t be distracted from her work or to make a mistake.
Gerald sat watching her leave and also the the three maids, who kept wondering where she got the guts to talk back to the boss.
“What a jerk” Arabella muttered as she went insearch of Fiona’s room.
The thought of seeing Fiona again clearly wiped off her anger..
She was still heading there when she saw a snake on the floor..
She yelled and trying to escape from it she fell down. Hitting her elbow on the wall.
She was still screaming when Fiona run towards her to carry the snake In her hand
“Are you okay Lucy. She didn’t scare you right?”Fiona asked as she stared at the snake.
“Why are you holding it? Don’t you know that’s it dangerous?”Arabella asked.
“It isn’t dangerous and this is my pet Lucy”Fiona said introducing the snake to her.
“A pet? But there is poison in it and it…..”
“Am not that stupid to carry a posionous snake around. Lucy poison have been removed and it’s been with me for a long time”Fiona said.
“Really?”She asked as she stood up while clutching her injured elbow.
“Yes and you don’t have to know about that. Why are you even here? I thought you left yesterday”Fiona said.
“Well my persistence got me here and let me tell you that I won’t let you succeed in getting me out of this house. Am here to stay and I will be staying” Arabella declared.
“We will see about that? People like you are only after my uncle and his money. You have no time for me and that’s why I will ruin your plan of wanting to get close to him. I will make sure you leave before you can achieve anything”Fiona said as she ran back to her room while Arabella stared at her.
She’s just as hot temper like me. Arabella thought as she head towards the room. She was still knocking on Fiona’s closed door when Gerald walked up the stairs.
“Having a difficult time with my niece?” He asked surprising Arabella by his sudden interest in what she do.
“A little” she confessed.
“Then I suggest you do your best in getting close to her. You are the fifth nanny am hiring. I hope you won’t be giving problem like the others?” He asked and she turned towards him holding her injured elbow.
“I will do my best and just like I promised you downstairs. You won’t be having a problem with me” Arabella replied.
“That’s better and so you wouldn’t sue me for money or anything. I think you should put something on that before it gets worse” he said as he walked off while answering a call.
“He is so annoying!”She muttered loudly as she continued knocking when her phone began to ring. Distracting her.
She checked the caller and when she saw that it was Nina. She picked wanting to tell her off but stopped when she heard the info Nina had to tell her.
“Am in the middle of something, can you. ….”
“This is also important”Nina said cutting her off.
“What’s wrong?” Arabella asked.
“I think you should come see me yourself” Nina stated.
“I will have to change my looks and besides that I will have to…..”
“Just come to your apartment Arabella. If you don’t want things to get messy for you come.”Nina said before ending the call.
She head back to her room and taking her make up stuff. She made sure Gerald was out of the room when she left the estate without being seen by anyone.
She went to a restaurant and apply a bit of make up to look a bit different from the nanny look.
Taking a taxi she got to her apartment and went to take the back exit because of her fans who were around the front entrance wanting to see her.
“Finally you are here!”Nina said as she opened the door to welcome Arabella.
“Tell me what you have to say. Have got to go back to the mansion. I left without anyone seeing me” Arabella said as she took a seat.
“What I have to say is something very important”Nina began
“Then fire away”
“As it turns out you’ve been offered a modelling job by one of the biggest cosmetic company”Nina said
“But am on leave and besides……”
“The boss accepted the deal and he wants you to come back to work ” Nina said cutting her off once more.
“That’s crazy! He told me that I will be given a three month’s leave. I can’t do it and …..”
“That’s the least of our worry Arabella. The job issue isn’t the problem. The problem there is that the company you are going to work with is Gerald Dalton company. You will be working as Ara in his company! ” Nina informed her.
“What!”Arabella yelled as she stood up from the chair she was seating on.
“Turns out Dalton cosmetic are launching a new product and you were chosen to be the face of the product. Knowing the amount our company will earn. Boss accepted it without consulting you. He knew you would reject it due to your sudden vacation ”
“And he is right. I will be rejecting this project” Arabella stated firmly.
“Why don’t we think about this? I know you deserve your break but this will also be a large profit to the company and to you and besides you will get to get more offer if you become the face of Dalton company”Nina cajoled.
“It can’t work! I just can’t quit my job in Gerald’s home. I can’t leave knowing that I might not get the chance again. Do you know what I had to go throu-ghjust to get the job. I can’t forfeit it for this”Arabella said.
“Then let’s talk to the director. He will just have to cancel the whole thing”Nina said as picked up her jacket.
“Your going to come with me?” Arabella asked and she nodded.
“Am your manager after all. I have to be there with you” Nina replied which got Arabella feeling touched.
“Knowing that we will lose a lot of money by refusing. Your still willing to support me?”
“I will and besides your three months vacation isn’t a real vacation. You went to get back your daughter which I know and am willing to support you until you achieve that” Nina chipped in.
“Thanks my friend. Now let’s go and give the director our news” Arabella said as they both left her apartment. Taking the back exit to avoid the people in front of her house.
They got to LX ENTERTAINMENT in one piece. Luckily the entrance wasn’t that crowded yet and that’s all due to the school students who were still at school for exams.
If it hadn’t been for their exams. They would be outside wanting to see Arabella and the other artist in the company.
Taking the elevator. They were taken to the CEO office.
“There goes my Lucky star” John Ben. The CEO of the company welcomed her with a smile.
“Well your lucky star is very angry today”Arabella said as she stood in front of his desk.
“Judging from the way Nina keeps on starring at me. She must have delivered my message” John said.
“She did and have come to tell you that I refuse to do it. It’s my vacation. You gave it to me after three years of ha-rd work. Now you want me to start working again. That can’t do John”She said folding her arms.
“But this is the biggest offer for the company. I can’t simply let it go”He replied.
“Then get someone else. Give it to Jenna. She would surely want it”Arabella said offering the position to her only rival in the company.
“I don’t think that’s a good thing Arabella”Nina mouthed at her.
“Why isn’t it? I can’t take the job and since we are talking about millions here. He should just give the chance to Jenna” Arabella muttered.
“Don’t listen to her Boss. She doesn’t know what she is saying”Nina said quickly.
“What’s this Nina? You said you will support me?”Arabella asked in surprise.
“Am sorry Arabella. I lied” Nina said as she moved towards John.
“The truth is that I was asked to lure you here”Nina confessed.
“What?”
“Right now the CEO of Dalton cosmetic is coming here to see you and knowing that you would refuse if I told you myself. I got Nina to bring you here”John explained giving her a smile.
“You didn’t tell me that the CEO will be here himself?”Nina asked astonished.
“The CEO being Gerald Dalton. You mean he is coming here right now?”Arabella yelled out this question and John nodded.
Arabella and Nina starred at each other silently and knowing what was to come.
Nina yelled out a “Run”
The two took to their heels and opened the door only to see Gerald, who was about to knock standing there.
“Am dead” Arabella muttered within her.
