“You must be early for dinner Bella” Mrs Milly said jolting Bella back to the present.
“I was just going upstairs to get Fiona” Arabella replied as she quickly turned to leave before Gerald could lead John and Jenna into the room.
“Fiona will still be getting ready. You should come say hello to the guest instead. The lady with that man is a famous actress and also a friend to Gerald” Mrs Milly said wanting her to come meet Jenna and John but Arabella took the easy way out and that was to insist on going to get Fiona.
She made it to Fiona room and the girl was having a ha-rd time reaching her zipper when she walk into the room.
“Why don’t you knock before entering my room?” Fiona yelled at her.
“Sorry. I was In a bit of a rush” Arabella replied.
“That doesn’t mean a thing. Leave!” Fiona yelled at her.
“Don’t you need my help?” Arabella asked.
“I don’t. Have always taken care of myself. I certainly don’t need your help” Fiona said proudly.
She was surprised when Arabella helped her to pull the zipper.
“Asking for help won’t hurt you” Arabella said.
“I don’t need your lecture” Fiona said as she moved towards a bag to carry it.
“Will you be taking that downstairs?” Arabella asked.
“Of course. I intend to do away with it tonight “She said and once again Arabella head was filled with worry.
Will Jenna and John recognise her in her nanny gear. She thought as she followed Fiona downstairs.
They might. It would be best if she just decline going to the dinner. She could say that something came up. Making up a lie will be a piece of cake for her. She thought when Fiona took hold of her hand.
“Tonight dinner will be fun and you will be helping me”Fiona said as she sent a smile her way.
“But I…..”
“Common” Fiona said as she pulled Arabella into the dinner room where Gerald, Jenna and John were talking while having a drink.
Their entrance made the three stare at them and Arabella set her glas-sproperly while she smoothed back her pack curls.
“Hello everyone” Fiona greeted as she waved her hand while holding onto her bag with the other hand.
“You must be the little Fiona” John said as he moved towards them to take Fiona hand in his.
“I am Fiona and you are?” She asked.
“John Ben. A friend of your uncle and Jenna” He introduced himself, and on hearing Jenna name. Fiona face changed into one of anger.
“And you must be?” John asked staring at her.
“Bella. Am Fiona Nanny” She introduced herself not adding her surname to it.
“The nanny? Why must she be present here?” Jenna asked this as she stared at Gerald.
“It’s because I want her here” Fiona replied while giving Jenna a glare which Jenna returned.
Judging from Mrs Milly words. Seems like Jenna frequent this place but she never got along with Fiona.
The glare she kept sending Fiona woke Arabella maternal instincts.
“To have the nanny eat with you guys must be something of a big deal to you Miss….” She paused waiting for her to give her name.
“Jenna. Jenna Willington. Don’t you know me?” She asked referring to her status in the entertainment world.
“If I knew you I wouldn’t be asking for your name” Arabella said knowing that alone will make Jenna angry.
John cough broke the hot animosity growing between her and Jenna.
“Jenna here is a famous actress and a family friend of ours and Bella here is Fiona new nanny. I told her to come eat with us so she can keep an eye on Fiona” Gerald explained.
“If you say so Gerald. Shall we eat now. Am starving” Jenna said as she took the seat nearest to Gerald.
Fiona sat facing Jenna while she sat facing John who she had caught starring at her a couple of times.
Did he suspect something? Does he recognise her? She thought as she payed close attention to her daughter needs while she ignored the conversation going on.
“Am still a bit angry about you signing Arabella. You should have just given the contract to me instead” Jenna said and Arabella found herself waiting for Gerald response.
She had also been wondering why he chose her and not Jenna whom he has been very close to.
“Arabella fits the new line we are launching and I don’t handle those stuff. The advertising agency handle it and before a model is picked they make sure that the lady picked will suit the line we are launching” Gerald explained.
I do not suit anything. Arabella thought within her as she silently ate her food. She hope Jenna finds a way to change Gerald mind.
“The people working under your ad agency do not have a eye for good thing. Aren’t I right Bella?”Jenna said as everyone turned their gaze towards her.
Was she expecting her to choose who is better. Arabella thought as she kept starring.
“Don’t you think that I fit the role perfectly?”Jenna asked again.
“I certainly don’t think so. To me Arabella is the best” She said annoying Jenna and earning a smile from Fiona.
“Did you hear that Jenna. Arabella is better” Fiona added annoying Jenna too.
“I think we should all eat. Trying to know who is better will certainly give us an headache”John said as he turned his gaze to Arabella again.
“You sure are right John and by the way what’s that bag with you?”Jenna asked starring at the bag in Fiona hands.
“A gift for you” Fiona replied.
“Really? It’s the first time I receive a gift from you. Even when your mother was alive. You never gave me one. What has gotten into you?”Jenna asked.
“I just thought that have been a little mean to you and this bag is an apology” Fiona said as she got out of the chair to give Jenna the bag.
“Did you use your allowance to buy it?” Gerald asked.
“No. It’s an old bag that I don’t want anymore. Instead of locking it up in the room. I thought that I should give it to Jenna who is a lover of bag” Fiona replied letting her know that the bag is not that special.
“So this is like a hand me down from you?”Jenna asked as she set the bag on the table and Fiona nodded.
“Do I look like a beggar to you?” She said hitting the table causing the bag to fall on her lap while Fiona snake crawled out of the bag and onto Jenna laps.
She yelled as she stood up hitting the snake away making everyone shocked . Arabella stared at Fiona to know if it was a prank but seeing the surprised look on her face made her realise that Fiona didn’t know about the snake.
“You did this on purpose right!”Jenna yelled as she moved towards Fiona but Gerald caught her back while Arabella held onto Fiona.
“The snake is getting away”John said diverting their attention to the snake.
“Its poison has been removed. You can help put it back into the bag”Gerald replied.
“I told Rica not to get her this snake but she did and now look at what am facing”Jenna said mentioning Fiona adoptive mother.
“I didn’t put the snake” Fiona said
“Liar! You’ve always hated me and you know how terrified I get whenever I see a snake and yet you put it there. She did it on purpose “Jenna said to Gerald.
“I don’t think she did it on purpose. You can see how Frightened the child is” Arabella defended.
“And who the hell are you to meddle in this?”Jenna asked.
“Am her……her nanny” Arabella said correcting herself from saying mother.
“The snake has been returned into the bag” John said triumphantly.
“That snake should be killed!”Jenna yelled out.
“No” Fiona said, as she moved towards the bag but Gerald was quick to take it.
“I won’t be giving this bag to you until you realise your mistake” Gerald said.
“You are mean. So very mean” Fiona said as she ran out of the room.
Arabella was about to follow when Gerald called her back.
“Let her be. She has to realise her mistake” Gerald said.
“But she didn’t know” Arabella defended.
“Have had enough of you!” Jenna said, as she took a glas-sof wine to pour it on Arabella face.
“Jenna!” Both the men yelled at her and while Gerald held onto Jenna.
John moved towards Arabella to give her a napkin to use it to wipe off her face.
“Your temper tends to get the best of you. Come with me” Gerald said as he pulled Jenna out of the dinner room.
“Are you okay?”John asked and Arabella nodded.
“Am fine. I have to go to Fiona” She said as she turned to leave but John pulled her back.
“It’s best if you leave her alone. She will only get angry at you and…..”
“I know that and am willing to take all of it but have got to be with her. She needs someone to…..”
“And you need to clean yourself up Arabella” He called her, by her full name which got her staring at him.
“What did you just say?” She asked.
“I know for a fact that you are my Lucky star. This disguise of yours doesn’t fool me at all. So it’s either you stay here and clean yourself or Gerald finds out the truth today. Judging by the way you’ve dressed. I can tell that he doesn’t know a thing but that will change if you don’t do as I say” John threatened spilling out the fact that he knows the truth.
