“How dare you! You have no right to do that, you servant! “I yelled at him. He looked at me with wi-de-ned eyes, shocked. I know I shouldn’t have addressed him like that, l was so angry and feeling guilty for letting him k!ssme when I love someone else.
He chuckled loudly confusing me.
“Yes, i’m a servant but not your servant do you un-derstand? You know this is a problem for you rich br@ts you only respect someone looking at their social status. ”
“Don’t talk about respect because til d@t£ you have to shown me any sign of respect. You____”
“That’s because I think you don’t deserve it. Three guys and you entice yourself with them,why can’t you just choose the one your heart wants? From the three princes only one has to be the one. Introspect yourself, what is it that you want from love, a man not a boy and what is it that you want from a real relationsh!p? “he sighed standing behind me.”But a girl like you who only look at the physical appearance won’t un-derstand this simple concept, “he brushed my hair to my left side ex-posing my n£¢k. I made an attempt to turn and look at him but he ti-ghtly held me in that fixed position. His nose run down my n£¢k and I squee-ze shut my eyes due to the way my b©dy was reacting to his gentle t©uçh.
“Where is the arrow pointed? Who is it pointing at? Akash? Vatsalya? Or Amit? Only one has to be the Mr. Right, “he gave me a ear-lobe k!ss. I jumped up and sharply looked at him. He smiled at me.
“Did I make s-en-se? ”
“Arrow? ”
“I know that you are stupid but I didn’t know you are foolish. Your heart has to make a choice and remember your choice now is going to affect your future, “he took out a mango from his pocket and put it on my hand.”Let say eating mango at night is healthy I don’t know how healthy, “he put his hands around my n£¢k and mas-saged it.
“Ow! “I cried when I heard some cracking.
“Your stiff n£¢k is healed. ”
“How did you know my_______”
“Don’t get me wrong, I heard you telling Amit about it. I will take your leave now, “he said and walked away.
“Ptttf, “I hissed. “What does he know about relationsh!ps? Has he ever fallen in love for him to advice me like that? “I looked at the mango and raised my hand to throw it. “No the mango is not at fault so I will eat it. ”

Vidyut’s POV
“I said I will not do it, “I said looking at the audience. I really don’t know how many times do I have to say this to them. I guess they enjoy listening to my denial speech.
“Vidyut, why can’t you do as you’re asked for once in your life? ”
“I have been saying this for the past seven years that I will not join the family business. I’m who I am. I’m not in love with the business world like you. I’m an artist and I am not interested in the business world and what happened yesterday was a good example that I don’t talk business. Why can’t you accept the fact that I am not like other people’s sons, I am me! If mom was alive she won’t have agreed with you and I will never forget that you are the reason she’s no more alive. I have been quiet but it doesn’t mean I have forgotten everything that happened. ”
“You think you are the perfect one right? If you had listened to your father for once in your life you won’t be miserable today. What does painting and singing give you Vidyut? How much do you make in a day huh? You went ahead and got yourself engaged to a girl and where is she right now? She left you. I had warned you to listen to me but you didn’t! ”
“Yessss! I agree I made a mistake of not listening to you and you will always keep reminding me of how ignorant I am but my mistakes are not sins unlike you. ”
“Son, whatever happened to your mother was unfortunate it shouldn’t have happened, “he said calmly. “All I want from you is to be a p@rt of this family. I want you to come back home, I miss you dear. ”
I shook my head. “Never, I will not live in a house full of criminals, “I turned around to leave and I dumped into the last person I wanted to see. My step mom
“You’re so bitter Vidyut try eating sugar. ”
“Of course I will make sure i consume a full sugar pot because I just had to see your ugly and bitter face so early in the morning. ”
She just stared at me as I pas-sed by her and walked out of the study room.
“Is it me or you who keeps following the other one? “a voice asked and I turned around to see who it is. Great it’s her. Why can’t she leave me alone? I agree I am the one who started everything but right now I am not in the mood to talk to her or anyone else.
“Answer me, “she smiled standing next to me.
“I kindly ask you to let me be for today. Why don’t you go be with Amit or anyone. Even better go get yourself eaten by a wild beast. ”
“Hey, what’s wrong with you? I was trying to joke with you. ”
“Well too bad i’m not in the mood to joke about with you. ”
“Okay that’s it tell me what has happened to you. ”
“God! You’re so annoying, “I walked out on her.
Anami’s POV
Okay that hurts, all I wanted was to try be a friend and he just walked out on me. What has happened to him that he was in a bad mood today?
“Its nothing new anyway Anami don’t be disheartened. He is not worth your tears,”I said to myself wiping off the tears which were alre-ady rolling down my cheeks. “I don’t un-derstand why it hurts. I don’t look at him like someone important who I can start my life with yet I’m drawn to him and I can’t control myself.”

“It looks like there are no collections of Catherine Coutler here, “I mumbled to myself as I searched throu-gh the shelves. I went to the king’s desk to search for it but it was nowhere. I sighed and turned to leave but the ph0to on the desk caught my eye. I picked it up and looked at it. The King, queen, Amit, Akash, Vatsalya and who is he?
“I don’t know who is who but I am sure it’s the three brother then who is the fourth one and how come the king never mentioned him. ”
“If he didn’t tell you it means they don’t want you to know anything. ”
I looked at him and frowned.
“There are things you should know and those that are better off not said. ”
“I thought you weren’t talking to me anymore. ”
“I never said that. I just wanted to be left alone for a while. ”
“Really? You ignoring me and using harsh words on me. ”
“I just wanted to be left alone to think my things throu-gh. ”
“Whatever. ”
“So what do you want to do? Are you planning on giving me the silent treatment?”he smiled.”I don’t mind because my life is anyway as silent as a graveyard. ”
“Why is that? ”
He stared into my eyes. “Like I said something are better off left alone than tempered with. What were you doing here? ”
“Well some things are better left alone than tempered with, “I said with a smile on my face ma-king him smile too.
“At least you’re learning something by being in my company. See you when you see me, “he win-ked at me and left the room.
“Crazy fellow, “I shook my head and looked at the picture again. “I guess I have to ask Amit. ”
“Amit, “I glanced at him.
“Yes tell me. ”
“I went to the libr@ry to find a p@rticular novel, I couldn’t find it but I found something interesting and I can’t st©p thinking about it. ”
“What is it? ”
“The ph0to in your dad’s libr@ry. Instead of three boys I saw four. Who is the fourth one? ”
He sharply raised his head and looked at me like he has seen a ghost.
Chapter 6
“Tell me who the fourth person is Amit. ”
He took a de-ep breath and smiled. “He is no one especially Anami. He is just a family friend.”
“A family friend it is, “I scoffed. “Can your dad love a family friend like he that? Amit, the love was evident in his eyes, he was even sitting on your father’s l@ps. I thought you are the embodiment of truth but you are lying to me just like Vidyut. ”
“Vidyut? Have you been meeting up with him secretly Anami? ”
“Not secretly. I just happen to dump into him and plea-se try not to change the t©pic. We are talking about the fourth person and not Vidyut.”
“Anami, I can’t tell you anything about him because it will hurt the whole family including the village. I’m not in the position to tell you anything and plea-se don’t f0rç£ me okay? “he held my hands into his and k!$$£d them.
I just nodded but I wasn’t satisfied. I wanted to know more.
“Just leave it the way it is, it will create a storm.It’s something painful . ”
“Okay, “I smiled.
“Thank you. ”
“Mom, don’t you think it’s weird. Four boys but what we see is three. Where is the last one?”
“Anami, just leave it. If Amit has told you to forget it then forget it. You don’t know what this secret will expo-se and where it will hit. Just let it go dear. Focus on finding your soulmate. ”
“Okay mom I will. ”
“Good now don’t stress yourself about such matters just take rest okay? ”
I plastered a smile and nodded.
“Perfect, “she pe-cked my cheek and left my room. Immediately she left I got into my be-d to take a nap and I dozed off to sleep.
When I woke up beside the be-d was the book I was searching for in the libr@ry with ten more collections.
“Who brou-ght this for me?”
I saw Amit pas-sing by my room ti-p toeing. I smiled.
“It must be him. I will surely have fun by ma-king fun of him. ”
“Amit, have you seen how a thief walks when trying to break into a house? ”
“No, “he shook his head.
“That’s what you did last night. I was planning to make fun of you but I voted against it. And decided to thank you instead. Thank you for the awesome gift. ”
“I’m glad you love it. ”
“Why won’t I love it, it’s something I love and will never st©p loving. ”
“Hey Raina! “Vatsalya c@m£ behind me and t©uçhed my shoulder.
“Hey, what’s up? ”
“Nothing much, I was thinking if you would like to ride the horses with me today. ”
“Hmm_____horse ri-ding! Of course, Amit and the whole family can join as well it will be fun.”
“That will be a great idea ! ”
“Okay I will just go and change, “I smiled and ran towards my room.
“Vidyut! Don’t walk out on me! Vidyut! ”
I halt and looked towards the studyroom. He c@m£ out in anger, his eyes met with mine and he looked away. The king walked out too and when he saw me he cooled down his nerves.”
“Anami you! “he said.
“Well erm ______I had to come and inform you that Vatsalya has planned something and he wants us to join him. An activity for the whole family. ”
“Okay we will be there. You should go wear something comfortable for the event. ”
I nodded and left to my room. What were they talking about that they were so angry? I can’t ignore this anymore, I have to find out the truth. Everyone is aware of it, everyone but I can’t ask the king or queen. Amit will stay true to his words. Maybe Akash and Vatsalya will tell me. Vidyut is just a servant, he won’t know much.
“It looks like you are more comfortable with Amit than the two of us, “Akash said looking at me.
“Why do you say so? ”
“Because you are always spending time with him than us and we un-derstand . You find him as the best guy right? “Vatsalya said helping me get in the horse.
I smiled and raised my head to look at him and my stupid eyes fell on Vidyut, on a black horse, wearing a cowboy hat. He was so handsome.
“Come on Anami, tell us don’t be shy. ”
He c@m£ over and the guys looked at him.
“You c@m£! It’s been a long time we had seen you ride with Knight, “Amit said with a smile.
‘Whoever c@m£ up with this idea su-cks. I was f0rç£d to do this, don’t get so happy and excited. ”
“Vidyut, we are just trying ________”
“Don’t try because it makes me sick. ”
“St©p being a bad guy all the time man! ”
My horse vigorously reacted to the shout and I fell from it. Everyone c@m£ running to me except him. He coldly stared at me then looked away.
For some reason I wanted him to care.
“Does it hurts baby, “mom asked me.
“Huh? “I looked at her.
“You’re crying, “she wiped off my tears.
***How do I explain this to you mom? The pain I am feeling is internal. I don’t even like him then why do I feel hurt? The physical pain I am feeling is nothing compared to this pain. I don’t know where it hurts but it hurts. He didn’t even look at me. Why is he so cold hearted and so bad? ***
My ankle was hurting that I couldn’t walk properly but when they asked me if I was fine I said yes. How stupid! Now here I am limping around the bathroom. What was the nee-d for Akash to yell at him. And why so much tension between him? This questions are going to make my mind explode
“You think there’s a connection between Vidyut and the rest of the royal family? “I asked Kusum.
“Yes that’s what I think but I can’t be sure. Something must have happened between him and them. ”
“But what can it be? ”
“Something from the past or something. You never know. I have given you a clue so you know how to use it. Find the complete thing okay? ”
“Finding it won’t be easy. It’s a secret no one wants to talk about Kusum. ”
“Maybe something happened between Vidyut’s father and the king. Maybe they were close friends and the other betrayed the other. Or maybe it’s a case where he was adopted by the king and he found out. It can be anything Raina. ”
“You’re right. I have to find out. If no one is willing to tell me anything I will find it out myself. ”
“That’s the spirit girl. Let’s talk tomorrow. Bye.”

I got of be-d and put my feet down only to jump up screaming.
“Huh? That’s odd, “I said mas-saging my ankle, no s-en-se of pain. I put down the leg and jumped up and down still no pain. How is that even possible? Til last night my ankle was painful and now I am healed?!
The other time was a k!ssand now its this. I mean seriously who is this person?
I went into the bathroom and took a shower then set off to the king’s libr@ry. I went throu-gh his file and confidential do¢v-ments most of them were business proposals. I went throu-gh the drawers and I c@m£ across a diary. An old diary, I opened it and it’s contents led me to the small fountain behind the palace.
“What’s the specialty of this fountain but I am sure it holds memories, “I mumbled to myself.
“I knew you would definitely find the diary,”a voice said and turned around. “Look st©p whatever you’re looking for. You really don’t know what the secret will do. Even I want to know but fear of what might happen doesn’t allow me. ”
“What fear? ”
“You c@m£ here for marriage not to be a detective okay so just stay off. It doesn’t concern you. ”
“Who are you? ”
“What do you mean? ”
“You’re always wandering around like you belong here. You don’t believe like a servant, no servant has the guts to walk out on the king. From where did you gather the courage Vidyut? Who are you and how are you related to this family? ”
He just crossed his arms and sm-irked.
“You’re not going to give up are you? ”
“No, “I said firmly.
“Then don’t say I didn’t warn you. People are trying to forget and you don’t know who you might hurt. ”
“plea-se, “I said. “Help me get over this. ”
He smiled and walked over to me..
“I’m tem-pted but I won’t do it so you’re on your own. ”
I made a face with myl-ips pouted. He looked down at them and moved closer.
“Don’t even think about it, “I said and made an attempt to step back but he pu-ll-ed me back.
“I have alre-ady told you that I am tem-pted. Why do I always k!ssyou? “he chuckled. “Even I don’t know so let’s leave it to destiny. ”
CHAPTER SEVEN
Writer’s POV
“My prince, “she called and he slowly turned around. She g@sped and opened her eyes wi-de as their eyes met. “No way, “she shook her head. “You___you are the prince I have been looking for? And you have been treating me like a fool knowing that I was seeking for you. ”
He snorted and put down his paint brush.
“Vidyut, you a prince! “she said not believing it.
He sm-irked at her. “Yes you caught me and I must say you really qualify to be a data detective. What do you do at school? Is is forensics? ”
“Vidyut, this is a serious manner and you are been sarcastic. Why didn’t you want me to know that you are the prince, that you are the first son of the king? ”
“What if I say I turned around to see who dared to address me as a prince when I am not, “he smiled and ru-bbe-d his chin.
She scoffed. “Only an idiot would believe that especially after confirming that you are truly the prince. The first prince and the son to the King loves arts be it anything that has art and you also love arts this can’t be a coincidence. The prince is angry with his family and can speak to the King anyhow because he is his father and I very well remember that you once spoke rudely to the King and an ordinary person can never dare to do that. If you don’t live in the palace then where do you live? ”
He scoffed then smiled. “Okay you caught me, you’re right. I am the prince of Rajasthan but you are wrong when you say I am p@rt of this family because I am not. ”
“What do you mean? If you’re the prince the royal family is your own. ”
He shook his head with a smile on his face.
“Vidyut, you know very well that the whole of Rajasthan loves you and they want you back. You’re the true definition of a king. ”
“And did I ask them to rip off my rights? No I didn’t because it was not my doing. I may be the first son but I am not p@rt of this family. ”
“That one s£ntence means a lot, it weight more meaning that just that Vidyut. If you say you’re not p@rt of the royal family then it means you are not p@rt of Rajasthan. People love you and they miss you so much. ”
“I didn’t distance myself from them I was made to stay away from them okay? ”

“Look I don’t know what really happened to both of you in the past but I will as-sure you that he loves you so much Vidyut. He might have not been a good dad but he does love you. ”
He scoffed and li-cked hisl-ips. “You know its really annoying. I’m losing my cool, “he smiled.”What do you know about me? ”
“That you and I are betrothed to each other. Do you even know that? Even after knowing this you fell in love with another girl. What’s her name again? Maya. ”
“That shouldn’t bother you because you are in love with Amit, you should focus on him not me. Whether I regard you as my wife or not that’s none of your business. Regarding Maya, that’s none of your business either. ”
“How is that none of my business? You cheated on me. How could you deny the fact that you and I are suppose to be together? ”
“Look you want Amit and you should look at him. I didn’t cheat you, you’re cheating yourself here. You know everyone cheat, you, me and everyb©dy else. Your heart is cheating right now and you’re allowing it which is so much fun. ”
“How do you know that? ”
“You can forget about what happened between us. It’s simple as eating nuts. ”
“Do you think forgetting about everything is so easy? ”
“Yes it is. If Maya can forget why can’t you? It’s not like we did anything special though. We never made love nor are you pregnant. ”
“Okay I have one question for you. All the little time we spent today haven’t you for once had any feelings towards me? ”
“Right now you should focus on Amit. He loves you and you love him. And one more thing don’t ever address me as the prince. I’m allergic to it okay. ”
She walked into Amir’s room without knocking, surprised and shocked he raised up his head to give her the attention she nee-ded from him.
“Anami, what’s wrong? ”
“I know who the fourth person in that picture is. I know that it is Vidyut and he is actually the first son of the King, the rightful heir to the throne. My husband to be.”
The last statement become a shock to him. It hit him like a stone that he slowly stood up behind from his be-d and walked over to her.
“What do you mean? ”
“Come on it’s nothing new, you know about it and I know about it now. Vidyut is the one I was betrothed to in the past. This whole reason I am here is to get married to him. ”
“Anami, I know that you are betrothed to him but does he want to be with you? That’s the main point. Does he love you to an extend of getting married to you? Anami, whether it’s me or Vidyut at the end you did get married to a prince right? ”
“No, it’s not the same thing. I won’t be getting married to the one I am suppose to get married to Amit and If I do get married to you just know that I won’t accept you. ”
“Do you love him? ”
She sighed. “No I don’t. ”
“Normally when I woman doesn’t want to get married to a man there could only be two reasons. One she loves someb©dy else who doesn’t even love her and two she is not sure of her feelings. I love you Anami and I truly want to be with you. ”
“Then why did you guys hide such a big matter from me? ”
“It’s not us, it’s him. He is the one who distanced himself from us not the other way round Anami. ”
“Why did your dad had to be harsh that he took away his right as the crown prince? ”
“Dad never liked Maya, he didn’t approve of her. He felt that she was not right for him. Vidyut did tell him that he would never fight with him because of a girl but my dad was so stubborn to un-derstand this. And Vidyut is a carbon copy of his dad you see, even he is stubborn. This is what made them to fight with each other day and night. Vidyut initiated an intervention that he will st©p having meals with us to avoid early quarrels and fight still it made more disputes between them. Due to all this we got to know why Vidyut is distant from his brothers and his mother. ”
“And what is that secret? ”
“That’s not my story to tell. He will tell you once he feels like it but I know him he would rather die than let out his pain by sharing it with anyone. Or maybe father can tell you but I doubt it because talking about it makes him sick. You see it’s a secret that’s so deadly. Vidyut is calm right now and if we talk about it he will remember everything and it will become messy. He is trying to forget and heal. ”
“I un-derstand, “she smiled at him.

Vidyut’s POV
“Son, plea-se you have to come back to me. I’m your father. ”
“Are you really that desperate that you can actually beg and say plea-se to me? Wow that’s an accomplishment, “he smiled then frowned.”I have told you that I nee-d time and space. ”
“Vidyut we have given you all the time you nee-d to forgive us. ”
“I wasn’t talking to you my queen, “he said the word in a disgusting manner. “Don’t forgive that it is all because of you. Don’t make me forget what my mother taught me. ”
“Son, I have told you that whatever happened in the past is not your mother’s fault. ”
“She’s not my mother! And never will. To me she is nothing but a husband snatcher and the destroyer f my life. ”
“Vidyut! “dad raised his voice at me. “Don’t ever talk to her like that again. ”
“Or what! ”
He sl@pped me. Twenty four years of my life he never raised his voice at me or sl@pped me and just for this queen of his he sl@pped me. I don’t believe this. I gave her a deadly look.
“Just because of you he sl@pped me, “I scoffed and looked at him. “I will never return back to you. I hate you all! I hate what you did to me. I was just a boy back then now I am a grown up man just wait and watch how I set this so called kingdom to ashes. I know that you want an successor to the throne and all your wife’s sons can’t rule because they don’t have those qualities and the capabilities to be king. I am my mother’s son, soft hearted but ruthless when upset. You just wait and watch how I won’t come to your rescue just like you never c@m£ for me and my mother. I shockingly looked at her.
“Yes he should. A son who can threaten his own father is not worthy of life. He should die instead. What you know is your side of the story there’s another piece which you know nothing about what you have completely shut up your ears. Vidyut, your father said that whatever happened in the past wasnt his fault or your mother’s. So just beat it and face the truth. ”
“I know everything! I know it all and I have seen it all. Do you even know what I had to go throu-gh just to be the prince of Rajasthan. Hell and I don’t think you know what that means. Have you lived in fear of your father and what he might do to you? I doubt it Anami. The man you’re defeating right now is not who you think he is, I went throu-gh so much pain just because of him. That you are the best daughter in law he will ever get. ”

Anami’s POV
“She is my life and my heart. The beautiful maiden my heart melted to and her name is Love, “I re-ad the diary I found in the king’s room. “Chitruli gave me this special rose I will cherish forever. ”

“This must be the place where the king met Vidyut’s mother. That means I have to go there. In order to find out the truth I have to start where the story began, “I wore my garment and rushed out of the house.
“Where do you think you are going? “a voice asked the moment I stepped out of the house. I li-cked myl-ips as I turned around.

“I have told you to stay out of this, didn’t I? ”
“Yes you did. ”
“Then why aren’t you listening to me Anami. ”

He locked the car doors and smiled.
“Vidyut, they will start looking for me and you’re the last person they saw me with. ”
“Who? As far as I remember no one know you are with me and my car windows are black tinted no one saw that you are inside. So who will they suspect? No one. ”
Tears clouded in my eyes. “Can you really go to that level just to keep me away from reaching the truth? Vidyut can you really be this heartless? ”
“Yes I can, “he replied.
I sighed and slumped my back on the seat and closed my eyes. I can’t believe he could be like this. I can’t believe it.
THREE HOURS LATER
“What is this place? “I asked him.
He smiled. “Your prison of course. ”
“Vidyut plea-se don’t do this to me. ”
“Anami, st©p thinking too much. I would never abduct you. You’re not that beautiful for me to abduct you, “he scoffed.
“So what are we doing there and what is this place. And whose house is this? ”
“Not Chitruli but Pathankot. He didn’t know the name of this village so he called it Chitruli so weird. You would have gone lost had I let you go alone. ”

“Is this where you lived? ”

I walked around the house trying to find clues.
“How did she die? ”
He looked up the ceiling and I traced his eyes.
“Oh my god! “I exclaimed looking at the rope hanging on the roof. “She committed suicide. ”
He shut his eyes and ran out of the house.

“Vidyut control yourself. ”
“Leave me alone. I did tell you to not do this. This place haunt me because I saw my mother hanging down there lifeless Anami. ”

“She committed suicide because of my father. He had left her with a promise that he will come back. First he lied to my mother that he is a common man, he didn’t tell her that he is a prince of Rajasthan, the crown prince. He fell in love with her, secretly got married to her. He left with a promise to come back to her but he never returned for her and me. Then one day she got sick that she scared me to death. My father’s dep@rture left her in pain with no measures. To make matters worse the villagers made fun of her every hour of the day. I lived my life as a stigmatized child not knowing that I have royal blood running throu-gh my veins. One day she c@m£, said some things to my mom and after that my mother did that. ”
“Who is she? ”

“So you don’t know what she told her? ”
He shook his head. “I can’t stay here. It makes me sick, “he walked away.
I walked back into the house and went into what seemed to be his room and searched the entire place but show nothing. I went to her room. I searched throu-gh the drawers still no clue.
“No one commit suicide without a reason . She must have written a letter or something, “I looked around. Accidentally my phone fell down, I knelt down to retrieve it andmy eyes fell on a white paper sheet un-der the be-d. I retrieved it and unfolded it. No writing, I ran my f!ngersalong the paper then picked up a charcoal on the drawers, sprinkled a little on it. That when the letters bec@m£ visible. I quietly re-ad the letters. I couldn’t believe it. I folded the letters and put them in my bag then walked out.
Vidyut’s POV
She walked out looking like she has seen a ghost.
“Are you okay? ”
She just stared at me and shook her head.
“Anami, what happened? ”
“Nothing, “she replied. “Let’s go back home everyone must be worried for us. We had long left home. ”
“Anami, you_________”
“Let’s go home! I’m tired okay. ”
“Okay, okay you don’t have to shout at me. Get in. ”
“Thank you. ”
The journey back home was awkwardly quiet that I thought one of us is mute. ”
Anami’s POV
I rushed over to the king’s study and I found him behind his desk working.
“Anami, what brings you in here dear? ”
“Why? “I asked.
“What are you talking about? ”
“Shivanya Singh Gill, “I replied. “Why? ”
