Chapter 82
(I want Ray)
The ambulance arrived and the police arrived.
They put the victims on stretchers and took them into the ambulance.
They drove immediately to the hospital while the police stayed behind to control the traffic and to ask the witnesses what happened.
“Were you around when the accident happened?”, a police man asked one man.
” yes. My shop is across the street. I couldn’t tell how the accident happened but the vehicle clashed and we called ambulance and police immediately”, the man replied.
When the police called Mr Dalton, he rushed down to the hospital with his wife.
Immediately he got to the hospital, he saw people waiting in the waiting room.
The policemen greeted him when they saw him.
“You saud my son was in an accident?”, Mr Dalton asked.
” Yes. He is in the ER right now”, one of them replied.
“My God, My God! Save me? Accident again? God, I can not lose this child. Ray has to stay with me”, Mrs Dalton started crying.
Mr Dalton un-derstands her so he allowed her to cry. They lost their first son in a plane crash.
The Doctor came out of the ER.
” Where are the victims relatives?”, he asked.
Ray parents walked forward and the other victim family members.
“Well, one of them was brou-ght in dead.”, the doctor said and each family member were all anxious each of them shouting in their head.
‘What about my own son? What’s his condition?’
The doctor sigh. “We will take him to the morgue”, he said and someone was wheeled out on a stretcher.
Ray’s mother and the other other victim family rushed over and opened the deceased face.
As the other woman collap-se on the ground wailing, Ray’s mum heave a sigh of relief.
‘Thank God it isn’t my son’
Mr Dalton released a breathe he didn’t know he was holding but that doesn’t mean Ray is safe.
The doctor use the term brou-ght in dead. That mean the man died before coning to the hospital.
” What about my son, Doctor?”, Mrs Dalton asked the Doctor.
“Ma’am, It’s such a pity. We tried our best and the surgery went well but…….”
The doctor sigh.
Mr and Mrs Dalton held their breathe.
Nothing can happen to Ray.
Nothing must happen to him.
“Well, he fell into a vegetable state. He us in coma”

Complete decorum.
“She fainted”, someone yelled and that’s when Mr and Mrs Dalton saw Dorris. Mrs Dalton eyes widen when she saw that Dorris fainted.
She remembered that Dorris is pregnant. She rushed to her.
” Doctor, help. Nothing must happen to my daughter in law.”, the woman said and some nurses brou-ght a stretcher and put Dorris on it. They took her to a hospital ward immediately.
Ava who was also present in the hospital at that time could not even explain her feelings. She just strutted out if the hospital and head to a bar to drink.
‘He fell into a vegetable state? That’s not even in my plans’
What to do with her plans now when the man in question is now in coma.
Is the devil playing ludo with her.
She us not going to give up yet?
Will he wake up?
When Dorris opened her eyes, she saw Ashley sitting on her bed.
She sat up immediately.
“Murray! Where is Murray?”, she asked.
Mr Dalton who is sitting on the sofa sigh.
Mrs Dalton let her tears flow down freely.
Louis and Douglas is also there.
” why are you not saying anything? “, Dorris asked.
Then she pull ot her IV and stood up.
” Where are you going?”, Ashley asked.
“I want to see Ray”, she said and walk out of the room.
“Sis!”, Douglas stood before her.
” Don’t stop me”, Dorris told Douglas weakly.
“Who wants to stop you?”, he asked.
” I brou-ght your sli-ppers”, he said and put it down before her. She sli-pped into it.
She was led to Ray’s room with everyone following her.
When she entered the VVIP hospital room, she saw Ray sleeping, unmoving.
She moved closer to him.
Her eyes welled with tears, she let the tears fall.
The room was very big more like a suite.
“I can’t believe this? Didn’t you leave home this morning with the promise to come back home in time? You bloody Liar! How dare you lie to me? How dare you?”, She knelt beside his bed and start crying.
” I still haven’t got to tell you that I love you. There are so many things I want to say to you. I’m even planning to propose to you in a very R0m-ntic way”
Ashley burst to tears when she heard this. She couldn’t hold it in anymore. She knew of Dorris plans to propose to Ray. They planned to it before the wedding Ray is planning.
Douglas hold Ashley in his embr@ce, his eyes welled in tears. After all, he is close to Ray.
This is the scene Harry and Harriet witness when they entered the room. The news is all over.
#Ray Dalton in a fatal accident
“What an as-s-hole you are, Ray. You even promise me a wedding ceremony. Didn’t you say we will go to the designer’s shop next week? Are you a man to go back on your words? How dare you think you can leave me alone just like that? You can’t do this to me Murray”.
Mrs Dalton was crying profusely too. She felt like she is the cause of everything that happened.
Harriet moved closer to the woman whose only son is between life and death.
Mrs Dalton cried ha-rder.
” Murray, think about our baby.
Please stay with me”, Dorris said and those in the room apart from Ray parents were surprised.
“You’re pregnant?”, Louis asked his daughter.
Mr Dalton cleared his throat.
” Ray told us this morning “, he said.
Mrs Dalton stood up.
” Dorris, shall I get something for you? You haven’t eaten”, She asked.
Dorris nee-ds to eat.
“I don’t want to eat. I want Ray”, the pregnant woman said crying.
” I want Ray”, she said again crying.
The doctor said the patient have a 50_50 chance of waken up within three months but if the patient fails to wake up in three months time.
It is very rare for the patient to wake up later.
The air is heavy.

(A mom to be)
Seconds turned into minutes, minutes into hours, hours into days, days rolled upon days, weeks rolled upon weeks, months rolled upon months.
Three months pas-sed and Ray didn’t wake up. Now, the possibility of waking up is so low. Even the doctors are losing hope.
Gradually Mrs Dalton became closer to Dorris. She will always console her. She will even cook for her and manage the house hold for her.
Ashley had moved in with Dorris. Louis begged her to because of Dorris condition. They can’t let her be alone at home. Ashley had been a great company to her.
Whenever Dorris is having her mood swings, Ashley is very un-derstanding.
Whenever she didn’t want to eat Ashley will for-ce her to.
“You don’t nee-d to eat but your baby nee-ds to”
Dorris will have no option but to eat after hearing this.
Whenever Dorris start brooding, Ashley is always there too
“You can’t go into depression. Think about your baby and cheer up”,
Dorris will cry at times but she always fo that in her room. When Ashley found out, she even moved into the same room with Dorris.
” You’re not only my friend, you ate my sis in law too. I have to be there for you always”
Douglas on the other hand will always visit the house, he is mostly coming over to be able to see his girlfriend.
“Hello sis”, Douglas greeted as he entered the house. He is now the director of the subsidiary company he is working.
Ray father had taken over the company again and he is actually looking for someone to take the company from him. After all this months, his wife and him have thought things over and have decided to accept this daughter in law of theirs. They even visited Dorris father and apologized to him. Louis forgave them.
” All parents wants a good marriage life for their daughter. Please don’t apologise, just take care of my daughter. Treat her like you will treat your own child and I will ask of nothing more”, the man said.
Mr Dalton saw that Dorris is the only family he have left and he wants her to take over the company but he don’t know how to tell her, considering the fact that she is pregnant and the fact that she is always missing Ray.
He had calked Douglas once after investigating and he found out that Douglas is quite good at what he does.
“Soon, you will move into H&D headquarter to as-sist your sister. I will make you a CFO.”
“My sis agreed to work at H&D? What about her career. I thought she is planning to return to the agency after she gave birth”, Douglas said.
” Her career? She will be a business woman not an artiste. After all she is the daughter in law of our family.”, Mr Dalton said.
Douglas want to say something else but he decided against it.
He wanted to say
‘This is my sister dream’
But he knew better. The moment Dorris married Ray, she’d given up her dream.
“Thank you sir”, Douglas said.
Guy visited Dorris once too and consoled her in his own way.
While everyone is sad about Ray’s condition, he’s quite happy when he heard about it but when he visited Dorris and saw how she look he felt sad.
‘How dare that idiot make her sad. Isn’t better if he just died and be forgotten once and for all?’
Once Dorris was in the hospital to see Ray. Her baby bump is now very obvious.
She was sitting by Ray’s bed reading a news paper to him.
The door to the VIP room opened and Mr Dalton entered.
Dorris stood up when she saw him.
” Hello sir”
“Oh! You’re here”, Mr Dalton pretended he didn’t know Dorris was there. Meanwhile, he rushed over when he heard from the bodyguards guarding Ray that Dorris is around.
Dorris just nod and sat down. She continued what she was doing.
” I wonder if you know that your husband was the chairman and president of H&D before his accident “, Mr Dalton began.
” He is my husband. I knew what he is up to”, Dorris replied.k
“Did you also know that since his accident GK has no managing President.”
Dorris did not say anything.
“You are the only family Ray left behind. I wonder if you knew that H&D is now your responsibility. You have to manage it well for your husband.”
Dorris scoffed.
“I even have to take over his responsibility”
“Give birth and take over the company”, Mr Dalton said.
” You can’t tell. My husband may wake up before I give birth.”, Dorris said.
Melinda visited Dorris several times and Mrs Dalton even ran into her once. Mrs Dalton felt awkward when she saw her but Melinda greeted her and she managed to answer properly.
“Dorris dear, have you eaten? I bought some home made donut for you. I’m very sure you will like it”
“Thank you mom”, Dorris said.
” What? Do you just call me mum? Oh my God! Have you forgiven me?”, she asked.
“Mom, you didn’t even offend me”, Dorris said.
” Oh my God. This girl, you have a nig heart. God bless you”, Mrs Dalton said.
“Let’s be closer, okay. Let’s go shopping together. Let’s drink afternoon tea together.”
“Okay mom. I want to go shopping for my baby’s cloth tomorrow. Let’s go together”, Dorris said and flash the woman a smile.
” Yes. Let’s go together ”
Seven months after Ray’s accident
Dorris visited Louis. Louis was very happy to see her.
“How are you doing?”, He asked Dorris.
“I’m fine”, Dorris replied.
She is now very heavy with her child.
” My sweet heart, you have to be strong. You’re going to
be a mom soon. A mom have to remain strong for her child. You gerrit? “, her father asked her.
” Dad, I heard you clearly”, Dorris said.
Louis smiled.
“Let me quickly whip out something for you in the kitchen”, Louis said and entered the kitchen.
