{Seoul National Hospital}
?1:30PM?
I kept pacing back and forth in the hospital’s waiting room. The ambulance had later arrived. Oppa, Suho and Mia had been rushed to this hospital and they were all immediately wheeled into the operating theatre for their bullet removal surgeries and we haven’t gotten any news about any one of them for 3 hours straight.
I ran my hand throu-ghmy messy hair, I was still dressed in my bloodstained wedding dress and my face was streaked with mascara while my eyes were puffand red from crying the hell out of them.
The news of what happened at the chapel had spr-ead like wild fire and every single person in Korea and even in other pa-rts of Asia were talking about it. Someone had actually managed to get everything that happened on tape and the video cli-p is trending number one on all social media outlets.
“Hyuna!” a female voice called and I turned to see Welchi scuttling towards me, clutching a large bag.
“Oh Welchi….” I gasped out as she got to me and quickly engulfed me in a warm and comforting hu-g
“I’m so sorry, bestie. I saw what happened on the news, I was so shocked and scared at the same time! How are you feeling?” she rasped after we disengaged from the hu-g
“I’m feeling many things, I don’t want anything to happen to Baekhyun. If he dies, I swear I’m going to die with him” I choked out with fresh tears sliding down my cheeks
“Alright now, calm down. That’s enough crying for one day. Nothing will happen to him, he’ll be just fine” she soothed while wiping off my tears
“Oh, Hyuna!” another female voice called and we turned to the direction. Dahyun, Chaeyoung, Soomin, Jin-woo and my mother rushed up to us. I flew into my mother’s offered embr-ace and let more tears out as she patted my back
“It’s okay, sweetie. Everything’s going to be just fine” She cooed and I nodded tearfully while slowly p-ulling away from the hu-g before hu-gging everyone else who came along with her.
I was very grateful that they were un-derstanding and caring to me at this time when I really nee-ded affection.
Welchi handed me the bag she came with
“What’s this?” I asked with a sniffle
“A change of clothes. You could really use it” she replied, gesturing to my bloody wedding dress and I smiled thankfully
“Thanks, I’ll go change now” I muttered and walked to the nearest open bathroom in the hospital.
I changed into the casual and comfortable clothes before washing my face and drying it with a small disposable towel beside the sink.
I walked back into the hallway and paused for a while when I saw J-Park, Cindy and Oppa’s parents seated on a short row of chairs right in front of the operating theatre. J-Park and Cindy were seated a little farther away from Oppa’s parents. They all looked so worried and anxious, I exhaled before walking closer to Oppa’s parents and clearing my throat softly to get their attention
They looked up at me with wide eyes of recognition
“Umm Mr and Mrs Lee, my name is Kim Hyuna. Your son and I…………”
“He loves you very much, you know” Mrs Lee cut me off calmly and I blinked rapidly. I hadn’t expected that at all
“I……..I love him too, very much” I enthused and they smiled receptively at me
“I still can’t believe how crazy and evil Mia was, can you believe we didn’t even know Sarang had been kidnapped…?” Mrs Lee uttered and my brows furrowed
“I don’t un-derstand, how did you not know?”
“Sarang was supposed to travel to Daejoon for a match but Mia abducted her before she got there and we didn’t suspect a thing because she texted us with Sarang’s phone saying she arrived safely and telling us not to worry!” Mrs Lee expounded and all I could do was shake my head ruefully
Suddenly, the door to the O.R flew open and a woman dressed in clinical scru-bs walked out
“Is there anyone here who is related to the female named Park Mia?” she asked and J-Park rushed to her
“Yes, yes, yes. I’m her father, how is she?” he rasped and the woman sighed de-eply
“I’m sorry sir, but she’s dead. We couldn’t save her, we tried all we could but we weren’t able to save her” she uttered and my eyes wide-ned
Mia is dead!
Oh my gosh ?
“Oh no, that can’t be true. She can’t be dead!” Cindy cried while J-Park stayed quiet, his eyes wide and unblinking
I felt so bad for him, he was clearly a good man. Too bad his daughter was a monster.
“Umm doctor, but what about our son? Is he alive?” Mr Lee asked the lady as J-Park slowly walked to the wall and placed his forehead on it
“What’s his name?” the lady asked, peering at the cli-pboard she was holding
“Lee Baekhyun”
“Well his surgery was successful and now he’s stable and has been transferred to an ICU Ward” she mouthed and my heart leapt for joy “Ohh thank goodness!” I gasped out as Oppa’s parents hu-gged each other happily
Thank heavens he’s okay….
“But when can we see him?” I inquired
“Not today that’s for sure because the surgery was really tough. Just be patient and let him rest up. The hospital will let you know when he’s strong enough to acknowledge visitors” the lady replied and I felt a little disappointed but I quickly pushed it aside. All that mattered was that he’s alive.
“Thank you so much, miss. But what about the other male that was taken into the O.R too? His name is Suho Hamatoyuoshi” I mouthed and she peered at the cli-pboard again
“Suho Hamatoyuoshi is still un-dergoing his bullet removal surgery and that’s because it’s a very high risk surgery. The bullet punctured his kidney beyond repair so we’re going to have to take out the damaged kidney. Apa-rt from that he lost a lot of blood and nee-ded blood transfusion before the bullet could even be removed so you probably won’t hear any news about him until tomorrow” she replied and my eyes wide-ned as my hands flew to my mouth
“B……But he’s going to be okay, right?” I prodded
“I can’t really say now, you’ll just have to wait until tomorrow. Have a good day” she remarked and made to walk away but J-Park stopped her
“Wait, can I see my daughter’s body?”
“Yes of course, come with me. I’ll take you to her” she offered and J-Park and Cindy quickly followed her.
I heaved a hu-ge sigh, the important thing was that Oppa was okay. That’s all that mattered for now even though I really hoped Suho would be okay too.
? 3 DAYS LATER ?
?Hyuna’s POV CONT’D?
‘Beep, Beep, Beep’
The heart monitor machine kept beeping as I sat beside Oppa’s hospital bed, watching him as he slept, his breathing levelled and steady.
It’s been three days since he got out of surgery and the doctor said he would be waking up anytime from now. An oxygen mask was str-apped on to his nose to help him breathe well.
“Oh, my love. I’m right here waiting for you so please wake up. I have good news though. Cindy confessed to the police and gave them Sarang’s location. She’s safe now with your parents so you don’t have to worry” I whispered to him while stro-king his soft hair
“Everyone is waiting for you to wake up……. and when I say everyone I really DO mean it. Your fans have been sending get well cards and gifts to the hospital. Even Taeyang came back from the Bahamas when he heard about what happened to you. He was even here yesterday, he stayed a long time by your side. The rest of THE VORTEX boys have also dropped by to see you. Even the BLACK VELVET girls were here a few days earlier. And I definitely won’t forget Sihyeon, Woobin and Bobby, they’ve also come to see you may times. So you see now, honey? We really just can’t wait for you to open your eyes again”
I exhaled and leaned forward before planting a kizz on his forehead
“Mmmm” he hummed and I gasped before cu-pping his face in my palms
“My love!” I called as his eyes fluttered open and he smiled weakly at me
“Hey, babe” he mouthed and I squealed while hu-gging him
“Oh thank goodness you’re finally awake!”
I pulled down the oxygen mask and pec-ked his li-ps twice before putting it back on his nose again
“How do you feel, honey?” I asked with my heart in my eyes
“I’ve felt better but at least I’m alive” he replied and I giggled happily while nodding
“Yes, you’re alive and the doctor said you’ve been having a speedy recovery. He also said if you keep up like this then you’ll be discharged by the end of the week” I mouthed and he smiled again
“That’s great” he uttered and I beamed
“I’m starving!” he suddenly blurted and I blinked in surprise
“You want food? Now?”
“Yes, please” he replied and I giggled
“That’s great! It’s definitely a good sign. I’ll go get you something light and not too heavy cause you’re still recovering” I announced and flounced out of the room
I headed to the hospital’s cafeteria and got him a bowl of brown soup before setting back out to the Ward. As I approached, a nurse came up to me
“Kim Hyuna?” she inquired
“Yes that’s me, is everything alright?”
“Suho Hamatoyuoshi regained consciousness an hour ago and he’s asking to see you” she mouthed and I gasped
Oh my, Suho is awake too!
Today is a good day…..
I hurried on to Oppa’s ward and found his mother there with him, she looked happy but was crying at same time. I placed the tray with the bowl of soup on the makeshift table attached to Oppa’s bed
“Oh Hyuna, he’s awake! He really is awake!” she gasped out and pulled me into a hu-g and I giggled while returning it
“Yes, Mrs Lee. Our Baekhyun is finally awake” I uttered while beaming at her and she clasped her hands together happily. Oppa tried to pick up the spoon but his hands shook and the spoon dropped back onto the tray
“Here, I’ll feed you” Mrs Lee offered and he exhaled before flashing her a brief but genuine smile
“Thanks mum”
“Well, I have to go see someone now but I leave you in good hands, honey” I mouthed and turned around to go
“But who are you going to see?” he asked and I turned back to them
“Suho, he’s also receiving treatment here. In fact, he actually just woke up today and he requested to see me” I replied and he kept quiet for a while before finally nodding
“Alright but what about Mia? How’s that crazy bitc-h doing? What became of her?” he asked again, Mrs Lee and I shared a glance
“Mia’s dead, son. She died the very day you were all brou-ght to the hospital” she remarked and he froze for a few seconds
“She’s dead?” he whispered softly then all of a sudden;
“That’s so awesome! I’m so happy to hear that. That is the best news I’ve gotten since today!” he rasped, smiling happily. Mrs Lee and I gasped in horror
“Shush! You shouldn’t say this like that! How can you be this happy over the death of someone?” Mrs Lee scolded and he scoffed
“Oh please, mum. Mia was a thorn in my flesh, she killed Kara, kidnapped Sarang and tried to kill Hyuna and I. What? Did you expect me to put on black and light a candle in remembr-ance of her?” he snorted and I had to surpress the laughter that nearly came out of me
“Alright well, now that you know where I’m going; I’ll see you later, I have something that I’d like to tell you when I get back” I mouthed, looking at Oppa and he nodded
“Okay, I’ll be waiting”
? 2 MINUTES LATER ?
After asking many questions; I finally found Suho’s Ward. I opened the door and peeped, he was lying on the hospital bed, hooked up to a heart monitor with a tube un-der his nose. His eyes were open and he stared quietly into space.
I exhaled and stepped in fully, his head slowly turned to my direction and his eyes softened when he saw me
“Hey……” I greeted softly
“Hey” he echoed and I smiled before walking closer to his bed and sitting on the chair beside it
“This chair is warm, was someone here?” I asked as I settled into it
“Yeah, my mother just left” he replied and I nodded before exhaling softly
I reached for his hand and clasped it in mine
“So how are you feeling?” I asked softly and he exhaled
“I’ve been better, I lost a kidney and now my body is operating with just one functioning kidney” he muttered
“Well that’s why God gave us two kidneys; so that if anything were to happen to one……… then the other can do the job without any problems” I uttered and he smiled
It was the first time I had seen him smile genuinely and he looked more handsome when he smiled that way
“Yeah, I guess you’re right” he mouthed before exhaling again
“So what about Mia and Baekhyun? What happened to them?” he added
“Well umm Mia’s dead but Baekhyun is fine” I replied and he chuckled
“So that crazy bitc-h didn’t make it after all” he mused with dark humour
“You shot her in the head, she didn’t stand a chance of surviving!” I pointed out and he chuckled more
“Yeah, I’ve always had a good aim with guns. I learnt from my father, he was the best during his youth” he muttered before sitting up slowly in bed, I quickly got on my feet and placed a pillow behind him to support his back
“Thanks” he smiled again
“This is nothing compared to what you did for me. If you hadn’t stepped in and shot Mia; then I would be the one in a mortuary” I remarked while sitting back down
“Thanks for coming to see me and thanks for checking up on me when I was still unconscious. The nurse told me you were here everyday. Thank you”
“It was my plea-sure” I smiled
“I just wanted to see you one last time because I’m leaving this hospital tomorrow. My mother wants to fly me back home to Japan, she says she doesn’t trust the Ko-rean health care system” he snorted while rolling his eyes and I giggled
“Well she’s your mother and she just wants what’s best for you. I wish you a safe flight back home and a speedy recovery” I said and he nodded before looking at me without saying anything for a while
“I should have known that I didn’t deserve a woman like you. You’re way too good for me” he uttered and I clic-ked my tongue
“Oh c’mon, don’t say things like that” I tried but he shook his head
“No but it’s the truth, I’m no saint. Not at all, I’ve done many bad things and I’ve hurt many people; including my family. I was always blinded with hate and greed. I wanted anything and everything for myself, it was a terrible flaw of mine and my father saw that dark greed in me and that was why he never wanted me to lay my hands on the family’s fortune. He knew that I would destroy it just like I do to every single thing that I touch. You deserve a much better person, Hyuna. I wish you and Baekhyun a happy life together. Even though I still have strong feelings for you; but I’m willing to let you go because letting someone go is the real sign of true love, that is something that Mia didn’t know”
By the time he stopped talking, I was fighting back my tears.
“Thank you, thank you” was all I could say. I leaned closer to him and planted a kizz on his forehead before moving back
“This is the first time you’ve kizzed me voluntarily without being drunk” he mouthed with a smug smile and I frowned slightly
“Huh? So that means I’ve kizzed you before?”
“You clearly still don’t remember” he chuckled and my confusion doubled. I was about to ask him what he meant when I heard footsteps behind me, I turned around and my eyes wide-ned slightly when I saw Cindy staring at us.
Her eyes were swollen and puffy, she looked like she had been crying a lot. She and Suho’s gaze met and the look in their eyes gave everything away
They had clearly slept together before
They were bed-mates ?
A sheepish smile formed on my face and I cleared my throat awkwardly
“Well, I’ll take my leave now” I announced and made to walk out but Cindy held me
“Please wait, Hyuna. I owe you a tremendous apology. I’m sorry for everything bad you went throu-ghbecause of Mia, please forgive me” she said while sniffling and I smiled quietly
“You didn’t do anything to offend me, Cindy and even if you did; who am I not to forgive? I forgive you, I definitely do” I uttered and she beamed tearfully
“Thank you”
“Sure, I’ll leave you two alone now” I mouthed
“Oh and please tell Baekhyun that Mia was never pregnant, nothing happened between them that night. Mia made everything up” she added and my eyes wide-ned slightly but I nodded hurriedly and waved at them before walking out of the ward.
? 2 MINUTES LATER ?
I walked back into Oppa’s ward and gasped when I found him alone, trying to walk
“No, Baekhyun! What’re you doing?!” I scolded as I helped him back onto the bed
“I want to see if I can still walk normally” he Gr0-ned
“The doctor said you will as soon as your leg heals but he also said that you shouldn’t for-ce it. All you nee-d now is to eat good food, take vitamins and rest a lot” I enthused and he exhaled
“So how did your visitation go? How is he?” he asked, referring to Suho and I sighed
“It went well, we talked things over. Although Suho has made many mistakes; he’s still a good person. All he nee-ds is someone that’ll love him back and that person is not going to be me because I have you; my everything” I mouthed and pec-ked his li-ps
“I love you” I whispered
“I love you too” he smiled and kizzed my forehead
“You said you had something you wanted to tell me….?” he reminded
“Ahh yes, I do. It’s really big news and I’m going to save it for last but first you nee-d to know that Cindy told me Mia wasn’t pregnant. She also said nothing happened between you two that night” I uttered and he nodded slowly
“I always knew it, even though she showed me pregnancy results but I never truly believed her. I only agreed to marry her for Sarang’s safety” he muttered
“But what’s the big news you have?” he added and I clasped my hands nervously
I took his hand and pressed his palm on my tummy, his eyes wide-ned immediately
“Are you..? You’re……” he stuttered
“Yes, my love. I’m pregnant, we’re having a baby!” I squealed
“Really? Wait, you’re not joking right? You’re really pregnant?!” he gasped out, touching my tummy with both hands
“Why would I joke about something like this? We’re going to be parents soon!”
He pulled me into a hu-g before p-ulling away
“I can’t believe this; this….this is amazing! Why didn’t you tell me the second I woke up? How far along are you? When did you get the test done? Have you seen a doctor? Babe, you have to start antenatal cl@$$es immediately! Who else knows about this? Do my parents know? We have to carry out an ultrasound so we hear the baby’s heartbeat! We have to start buying baby things as soon as possible!” he rasped out excitedly and I couldn’t stop laughing
“Slow down, my love. The important thing now is for you to get well fully and we can prepare to welcome our baby together” I mouthed still giggling
“Yes, yes I’ll definitely get well soon because I can’t wait to buy cute dresses and tiaras for our little princess!” he squealed
“But what if it’s a boy?” I asked, still giggling
“No it’s a girl; I can feel it” he uttered while touching my tummy
“Why do you want it to be a girl so bad?” I demanded teasingly
“Because baby girls are so adorable with their tiny little hands and chubby cheeks and their cute girly giggles” he squealed and I laughed again
“You have no idea how excited I am. I can’t wait to call you the mother of my children and my wife of course cause you’re definitely going to marry me, right? Will you marry me?” he asked softly while touching my cheek and I smiled lovingly at him
“Of course I will, nothing would make me happier” I whispered and locked my li-ps with his
“I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you” he rasped while planting kizzes all over my face as I giggled
I guess now is finally the time we would get our happy ending. Our very own happily ever after ?
