Mara stood dumbfounded. Everything felt like a dream to her
He fu-cking humiliated her again
” Claire, your idea was a bad one” Her fingers curled into a fist as she watched Ryan leave the cla-ss
She walked to Jeffrey and snatched her books from him before storming out of the cla-ss angrily.
“How dare he humiliate me that way? She fumed as she made her way to the hostel.
“How did it go? Claire asked. “did he.. she couldn’t complete her statement when her eyes met with the dangerous glare on mara’s face
“Oops.. I guess it didn’t work out” She muttered and mara sat on the bed without saying a word
“Is he perhaps g-ay? Not as if I’m not pretty right?”
“Of course you are pretty, very pretty. Who wouldn’t wanna date you?” Claire said and mara rolled her eyes
“Should I tell dad to hook me up with him?” She asked
“My goodness Mara.. Claire exclaimed
“What? Mara asked staring at her
“I can’t believe you want your dad to hook you up with him, even if it’s possible, he won’t love you if you don’t try winning his love now. And I can a-ssure you, you’re gonna get hurt and regret what you’ve just said”. Claire said while she (Mara) thought for a while
“I should try to make him love me then” she said and laid on the bed
“But how” she (Mara) thought
“Aren’t you attending cla-sses anymore? Claire asked
“Yeah, I’m not.., I’m tired” Mara replied and closed her eyes

~~Grandma Pamela apartment
Violet yawn and stretch her body. “Nice sleep.. she smiled and stood up. She felt a bit more energetic.
She left for the bathroom and did her morning routine before heading to the sitting room.
“Grandma Pamela..she called, walking to the kitchen. She checked the time and discovered it was 12noon.
“Wow, I’ve slept for long. She said and carried her food
She walk back to the sitting room. She turned on the small Old Tv they were managing.
She ate quietly as she watched her favorite series.
” It’s been long I watch this series, everything now seems so strange.. she said as the characters in the series made her angry since she couldn’t recognize their faces and the old TV made things even worst. She couldn’t see the people’s faces clearly since the TV wasn’t getting enough signal.
“I need to work ha-rd to buy grandma Pamela a new one then. She said
“You should use the money for something else rather than spending it on a TV. Maybe you should start buying clothes as you await the scholarship program.. Granny Pamela said from behind her
“Grandma.. she called. “Where did you go? She asked
“No where, just harvesting some vegetables at the garden that’s all. Granny Pamela replied
“Oh, okay.. Violet said and walked to the kitchen to do the dishes since she was done eating

Ryan sat down on an empty bench with his eyes closed. He could hear the sound of the birds chirping and the leaves rustling. He sigh and opened his eyes and they landed on Li shu.
“Li Shu.. he called and he ( Li Shu ) smiled sadly at him.
“Li Shu? He called again, his eyes already producing water
“Ryan?! Ryan?! Ni méishì ma ( are you okay)? Did something happened?” Jeffrey tapped him, concern written all over his face
“Who is Li Shu and why are you crying? ” He asked and it immediately dawned on Ryan that he was actually hallucinating. He was seeing Jeffrey as someone else
“What are you doing here?” He asked sternly, ignoring his question while Jeffrey scoff
” You were like a real normal human just now when You were in tears,… why the cold attitude now?” Jeffrey asked sitting closer to him
“If you think we’ve become friends after what I did earlier,, then forget it… pretend you didn’t hear that and it didn’t happen”. Ryan said and walked away, leaving Jeffrey behind
” He’s always walking out on people” Jeffrey sigh
“Li Shu? Who’s he? He muttered as he watch Ryan walked to cla-ss
“Who is he? A family? Friend?” Jeffrey thought and stood up too.
” I just can’t wait to go home and see the prettiest person on earth.. he smiled to himself as he remembered violet’s face
He stood up and walk into the cla-ss too

The lecturer walked in and the students kept quiet.
“Why is Mara Zhang not in cla-ss?” The lecturer asked.
“She was embarra-ssed by Ryan.. a girl said and the cla-ss burst into laughter.
The lecturer glance at Ryan who didn’t seem to be bothered about anything happening right now
“Anyway I just came to give y’all this announcement. It’s about the scholarship program that is being conducted once every year” The lecturer said and a smile escape Jeffrey’s li-ps
“Finally violet and I will be together both at home and in school.. he smiled widely while Ryan scoff lowly from where he has been watching him
“So it’s your chance to tell your family and friends who wants to enroll into evergreen college to come apply”. The lecturer said
“So when is this coming up?” Jeffrey asked
“A week time.. the lecturer replied
“But… Jeffrey trailed off
“What is it Mr Xiao? The lecturer asked.. “any problem with what I just said? She asked
“Not that… It’s just…. most students won’t be well prepared since the announcement came late and out of the blues” he said
“I have no idea why Chairman Li wants it to be like that this year, but it’s going to be announced by evening and moreover, it’s a scholarship just for those with brains cause not everyone will be given admission”
“Wo bù míngbái ( I don’t un-derstand.. Jeffrey said
? Does he have a girlfriend he wants to attend this school?
? I hope he doesn’t
? You still have a crush on him don’t you?
The girls murmured among themselves. Jeffrey ignored them and gave his attention to the lecturer
“Scholarship will only be given to the best 5 students who pa-ssed the scholarship exam”. The lecturer explained and Jeffery nodded
“If there’s nothing more, I will be on my way now.. she said and started to leave
“Oh, I almost forgot” She exclaimed and turned to them again
“You can all go home.. there won’t be any more lectures today. The staffs will be busy setting questions for the scholarship exam.. she added and walked away
Ryan stood up immediately the lecturer left the cla-ss and he walked out too. He got to the parking lot and place a call throu-ghbrown
? Come pick me up.. he ended the call at once
He stood waiting for brown when Jeffrey showed up.
“Gosh, Why do I keep seeing this annoying guy?” He gro-an lowly, pretending he didn’t see Jeffrey.
Jeffrey noticed it and smiled
“Goodnight.. he waved at Ryan before walking out of the parking lot and brown drove in immediately.
“Good afternoon young master.. Brown bowed and he nodded as he made his way to the car.
He entered the car and Brown did same, and off they drove down the road

He got home and realized the house felt empty
That was unusual
“Greetings young master.. the maids greeted and he nodded as he made to walk to his room but stopped abruptly
He stared at them and they immediately knew what he wanted to ask
“Ma’am layan went to the company.. Ming, one of maids spoke up and he walked fully into his room since he already found out what he wanted to know

“Violet.. Violet.. Jeffrey kept shouting as he ran towards her house
“What’s wrong? Stop disturbing the neighborhood with your irritating voice” kylie rolled her eyes, walking out of the house with her twin sister Kira
Jeffrey’s noise actually made them leave their house since their home was just two blocks away from that of violet.
Jeffrey ignored them and walked into Granny Pamela’s home while they girls followed
“What? What? Are you being chased?” Violet frown immediately she saw him
“I brou-ght good news and I’m sure you’ll love it” He smiled
“Can you just go straight to your point?” Kira chipped in
“Where’s grandma?” He asked
“C’mon Jeff, Can you tell me the reason why you kept calling my name so loud?” Violet asked curiously.
“It’s the scholarship exam, it’s coming up next week.. Jeffrey broke the news and her eyes widdened in shock
“Calm down Jeff, I hope this isn’t one of your pranks is it?” She asked, not wanting to believe
“I’m serious.. he said
” OMG!.. she exclaimed and immediately jumped on him, hugging him ti-ght
His eyes widdened at her actions yet, be lifted her up in his arm happily
“It means I’ll be attending evergreen college?”… She screamed
“So what did they say? And why is it next week? I thought it’s being announced a month to the exams so why now?” She asked, disengaging from the hug
“No idea.. Jeffrey shrug. ” I even tried asking for reasons but no perfect answer was given” he added
“So how many students are they admitting this time?” Kylie asked and he breathe out.
“What’s wrong? Violet asked
“Nothing, it’s just…. He trailed off
“Just what?” Kira asked curiously
“Just five students would be admitted this year. He said while the twins gasped
“That’s a small number of students.. Kylie exclaimed
“I know and that’s why Violet needs to study hard. Jeffrey said
“Wait, do I look pitifully right now? Are you really doubting my capacity?” Violet grimace
“No of course, I trust you….I’m just wishing you all the best.. Jeffrey said with a wink
“Anyway, thanks for the information Jeff” she said and hug-ged him again while he reciprocated the hug
He wished they could stay that way forever
“We will be on our way now.. kira cleared her throat and pulled Kylie her twin sister out of the house
“Maybe you should go and rest. There’s work to do in the evening” Violet said, disengaging from the hug and Jeffery nodded
“See you in the evening then” he said
He made his way out of the house while Violet entered her room
She shrieked in excitement while dancing crazily around her room. She picked up the $100 note and smiled at it.
“you’re my lucky charm aren’t you? I wish I could steal you from your owner, ever since you came to me, so many good things has happened” She smiled and laid on her bed
“Can’t wait to tell granny about it… She screamed throwing her legs in the air

Li Xue and his wife got home that afternoon though he intended to go back to the company. He came to talked things out with Ryan since he wouldn’t pick his calls.
Ryan was still on his laptop when he heard his name. He ignored at first since he was reading. That was what he was good at and what his dad wanted too.
“Ryan.. he heard his father’s voice and he stopped what he was doing. He walked out of the room and met his dad seated already
“Good afternoon mom, and you too dad.. he said with his usual straight face
“I’ll go straight to the point..It’s about the upcoming scholarship exam” Li Xue said while he just stared at him.
” I want you to be one of the supervisors.. his dad said yet he didn’t utter a word.
“That’s all I wanted to tell you…. I’ll be heading back to the office in a few minutes. I even called your phone numerous times yet you wouldn’t pick up” Xue said but he still kept mute not saying a word
He made to leave their presence but stopped and slowly turned to his parents
“Dad.. he called and Xue looked at him. He wanted to say something but no words were coming.
The words were stuck in his throat and wouldn’t come out
Not that he couldn’t speak, but the fear of getting on his dad nerves was what he hated the most. His dad was a dangerous man, what he said was always final
“Nevermind.. he said and walked out on them to his room. He sat Infront of his laptop and sigh
“When will I be able to make decisions for myself?” He exhaled
