DAVID’S POV
āDave, over here” Michael my best friend shouted at me as I bounced the ball twice.
I looked at him and realised that he was near the basket bar, so I bounced the ball towards him. He was fast enough to catch the ball and bounced it towards the basket bar, a guy tried to push him down to prevent him from scoring but Michael dodged the push and the guy landed on the floor, serves him right.
Jeremy got to the basket bar and jumped really high and pushed the ball into the basket bar scoring another five points, thatās my boy.
My team cheered for him including pas-sers-by and some who were watching the match.
It was yet another Saturday and my friends and I were pla-ying basketball in our estate, the Lincoln Estate of Beverly hills like we always do every Saturday, it was more like a training for our every Monday friendly match against any high school that dared to challenge our school in a basketball match, well challenging Beverly high school to any competition is like suicide mission not to talk of swimming and basketball, our girls murder any school that challenge us in swimming and gymnastics, while my team kills any school that challenges us in basketball, yes we are that good, Iām the captain of my team, I have a lot of fans in the whole of Beverly hills and beyond, Iāve won a lot of awards as the best teenage basketball pla-yer in Beverly hills and Iām still going far I believe cause basketball is everything to me.
My name is David Henshaw, 18 years old, not to boast but Iām extremely h0t and cute. Just like in every high school there is always a guy who is the most popular, rich, h0t and very handsome, girls flocking around him like bees, trying to get just the slightest attention from him, or to d@tĀ£ him, fighting over each other cause of him, has a best friend who is always the second after him in everything, has a team of friends, the only ones he thinks are worthy of him, a big time pla-yer and a heart breaker, very talented in athletics, probably football or basketball. Yea, Iām that guy in Beverly Hills high school.
The only difference is that Iām not a pla-yer and heart breaker, I donāt even have time for girls, I always mind my business, focussing on my studies, but the bit-ches wonāt stĀ©p trying or fighting each other, but still I donāt give a $h!t. My dream is to become a famous basketball pla-yer and Iām seriously working on it and Iām gonna get there soon.
Well that aside, right now my team and I are focussing on murdering and burying these crazy dudes from Richyās Estate who dared us to an enemy battle, almost half of them are students of Grammy high school, and they definitely hate our guts cause we always beat them in every match.
I was still in my thoughts when the ball got into my hands and as if on cue everyone c@mĀ£ to an abrupt halt, I looked at the faces of our enemies and the fear in their eyes almost got me laughing but I kept my cool, calculating, thinking, planning on how to crush them completely.
āDude for the love of Christ, plea-se go easy on themā Brian, one of my teammates said and the rest laughed.
I sm-irked a little, stared at each of them and all of a sudden I made my move, they didnāt expect it, I could tell from the shock written on their faces, they watched me in shock until I got to the basket bar and didnāt even make an effort to jump too high cause I was alre-ady tall, 6ā5 canāt be a waste. It was when everyone began to cheer that the Richy Estate dudes realised themselves and I sm-irked big time, get them every time.
ru-by blew the whistle signifying the end of the game with my team winning, 35-23 points, they were so lucky though.
āDude do you use magicā I heard one of them ask.
āWhat he uses is more than magic my friendā Michael said and my team laughed.
The Richy guys grumbled and walked away in shame and defeat.
āthat will teach them to respect their elders next timeā Henry said and we laughed.
āHey guys, you were so great out today, especially you Daveā I heard a high peached voice say, we turned to see Kira coming towards us with her friends Bethany and the other cute one, is it gr@pĀ£ or whatās that her fruit name againā¦ Kiwi. Kira is Michaelās girlfriend but sometimes the way she looks at me, I just donāt un-derstand.
āhey babeā Jeremy said drawing her closer to him, he k!$$Ā£d her for minutes that everyone started grumbling āget a room guysā
When they disĀ£ngaged Michael asked her āhey you only complimented this duck head, what about your bĀ©yfriĀ£nd, hmm?”
āoh, my poor baby, I was only saving the best for the last but too bad you couldnāt have patienceā she defended herself.
āIām so sorry I concludedā Michael apologised, is he stupid, didnāt he notice that she was never planning to compliment him, she was only trying toā¦ plea-se I canāt waste my time on them, I have better thing to do with my br@in.
ābabe my friends and I are gonna go get you guys some snacksā Kira said
āthatās so thoughtful of you babeā Michael replied. They walked out but not until she gave me that sĀ£dƻƧt!velook of hers that irritates me so much. I just canāt tell how she always do that without anyone else noticing it.
ādamn sheās h0tā ru-by complimented and Michael gave him a deadly glare.
āit was just a compliment dude, whatās your Pā ru-by asked as we walked to the bench to pick up our stuff, I picked my bottle water, re-moved the cap and downed the whole thing in a gulp, damn I didnāt know I was that thirsty. I Zi-pped my bag and stood up to wait for the guys to tie their shoes when I saw her.
She was staggering like a drun!kard who drank more than he used to, dirt all over her bĀ©dy as if she just c@mĀ£ out of a pit of $h!t, her hair looked like it exploded in a microwave, her left shoe was torn beyond recognition and repair, her face has no definite definition, itās just in a freaking god damn mess.
She staggered to the net demarcating the basketball court from the tiled road, she held the net like her life depended on it, like if she let go off the net her death follows.
I heard ru-by whistle with his mouth, he only does that for three reasons, to signify the end of our street match, or to inform the guys about the presĀ£nce of an extremely h0t girl or to tell everyone that crazy trouble is lur-k-ing around.
I calculated immediately, the game has alre-ady ended, there is no h0t girl around and Kira and her friends are not yet back, theirs is only one reason that can explain his whistle, the girl.
The rest of the team raised their heads to know what the whistle is all about and when they saw her, they bur-st into laughter. I didnāt see anything funny, I only see a hurt girl, someone who has had an extremely bad day.
Although everyone keeps saying sheās jinxed or something but I find it ha-rd to believe, there is no such thing as a curse, I never believed in it and I wonāt start now, I can only say that she gets bad luck sometimes.
I used to see her in school, but after she broke a toilet bowl and two sinks, which I have no idea how that happened, the principal asked her to stĀ©p coming to school āā¦..Before you wreck the whole school, stĀ©p coming here, go home and live your jinxed live and stĀ©p jeopardizing innocent studentsā lives.ā He had yelled at her in front of the whole school, and she left and I havenāt seen her again until today. Well that was a month ago.
As she was staggering to get balanced or to be able to walk properly, I looked few feet away from her and damn sheās gonna fall, thereās an opening on the net , a big opening and with the f0rƧĀ£ she was using on the net, I think she will fall into the court. I tried to warn her but before I could speak, she was alre-ady rolling into the court, my team were now laughing hysterically, I was tem-pted to yell at them to stĀ©p but I couldnāt for fear of being shamed too. So, I just watched her, tears, crazy h0t tears flowed from her eyes like a river, I was so tem-pted to bend down and clean them and as-sure her that everything is gonna be alright, but I just stood there watching them make fun of her, I was afraid to speak for her.
ājeez, look what the cat dragged inā I heard that high peached annoying voice of Kira.
āwhat cat, whereās the cat, what did the cat drag inā the cute Kiwi asked looking around. letās just say this one is the dumbest girl Iāve ever seen, but funny too.
āKiwi, itās just a figure of speechā Bethany said to Kiwi.
āoh okā she said feeling slightly embarras-sed.
Kira bent towards the girl.
āhey jinxed bit-ch, what are you doing here, I thought youāve been warned to stay away from everyone in this Estate hmmā she asked as she stretched forth her hand to tĀ©uƧh her face but Kiwi stĀ©pped her.
āKira donāt! my mum said that if you tĀ©uƧh a jinxed person then the curse will be transferred to youā
ālike I was going to tĀ©uƧh this dirty cursed excuse of a human being, even if I was going to tĀ©uƧh her, Iāll only end up plucking her eyesā Kira said with utmost disdain.
āI also heard that if you insult and make fun of a jinxed then the curse will be transferred to youā I heard myself say, I just couldnāt take it anymore, the girlās cries was breaking my heart, how can they be ma-king her cry so much and not feel any atom of remorse.
āDave where did you hear that trash fromā Kiwi asked with her cute voice, seriously I almost asked this girl out if not that she bec@mĀ£ friends with this devil, she just manages to drive me insane with her cute voice, her cute face, her dumb crazy self, herā¦. David! Snap out of it.
āyou donāt nee-d to know but itās trueā I managed to reply with a soft voice I didnāt want to use. Yep thatās the effect she has on me.
āwell in that case I apologise, Iām sorry miss jinxed for mocking youā she said to the girl, and I smiled inwardly at her innocence. She stood up and turned to Kira.
āwhatā Kira asked
āwell do you wanna get cursed, if no then apologiseā She said to her
āwhatever, sorry jinxedā. Kira said dryly and walked to Michael.
āwell I owe no one any damn fvĀ¢king apologyā Michael said and left with Kira and the two girls followed, but Bethany turned back and looked at the girl with an extremely sad look of āIām sorryā before she walked out. I guess this one still has a heart.
āneither do Iā ru-by said and followed them.
ādude you coming, cause Iām atta hereā Henry asked me as he walked away too with the rest of the team.
I looked at the girl, she looked so tired, so I decided to help.
āno, you go ahead, Iāll catch you laterā I said to him. He looked at me then the girl, then me again, shook his head before walking out.
I turned to the girl and stretched forth my hand for her.
ācommon, get upā
She stared at me like Iāve gone bunkers.
āhey, I know Iām cute and all but you really donāt have to stare that muchā I tried to make her laugh by my words but no, she was just sitting on the floor staring at me as if Iāve grown a di-ck on my forehead.
ādonāt you speak, are you muteā I asked her. She stared.
ādonāt you want to go homeā
āI donāt nee-d your help, thanksā she said as she struggled to get up but unfortunately, her right shoe lace got hooked on something on the ground, I looked down to know if I can un-hook it but to my greatest astonishment, the shoe lace wasnāt hooked on anything, it was just on the ground but still hooked, but to what, this is insane. I hovered my hand on the ground to know if there is an invisible nail there but I felt nothing.
ālet me go you stupid groundā she yelled at the ground as if it can hear it.
āok, you wanna go throu-gh the ha-rd way, fine letās go throu-gh the ha-rd way, if you look at me very well, you will notice that Iām not in the mood for this $h!t right now, Iāve gone throu-gh a lot today so donāt make me unleash my anger on youā she yelled and sprang up immediately but the shoe lace was still on the floor, what the hell! She f0rƧĀ£fully dragged the shoe lace only for the shoe lace to re-lease immediately ma-king her bu-tt land fiercely on the floor with a loud thud, she bur-st into another round of tears, I wanted to laugh but I decided against it. I ran to her.
āhey are you okā I asked. She nodded like a baby.
ādo you now think you nee-d helpā she nodded again.
I bent down and swooped her into my arms, bridal style and I walked out of the court.
