LATER IN THE NIGHT 🌃
Kyle walked into his room with a glas-s of milk in his hand and his phone on the other hand. He sat on the be-d and continued calling Océane but she wasn’t answering. Kyle got worried and placed a call to Lise.
📱 Good evening madre
📲 Kyle?! How’re you doing?
📱 Am fine madre– can I speak with Maeva?
📲 uh… she’s slee-ping
📱Wake her
📲 Maeva had a little fever during the day so I wouldn’t want to disturb her
📱Alright… Goodnight
He ended the call and fell back on the be-d. He was really missing Océane and felt the something was wrong somewhere.
Why wasn’t she answering his calls?
Kyle was restless all night and stayed up awake.
Then next morning, he hurried to The Hernández mansion. He only brushed his teeth without taking his bath. His hair wild and eyes swollen from not slee-ping. He wore a lose baggy t©p which he had forgotten to fasten it’s bu-ttons as a result of hurrying.
Kyle arrived at the mansion and rushed in. Maeva was sitting in the living room looking very pale. She was with Lovane.
“Kyle?!” Lovane called on seeing him
“How’re you doing?” Kyle asked less concerned
“Hermano mayor!” Maeva called before Lovane could even respond.
“Maeva?!” Kyle hvgged her and k!$$£d her on her cheeks
“Océane didn’t return last night” Maeva said amidst tears
“What happened?” Kyle asked and his started was alre-ady racing.
“She….”
“I didn’t ask you Lovane” Kyle interrupted Lovane “Go on Maeva”
“she went to check the delivery van and didn’t return after then” Maeva sobbe-d
“Why didn’t Madre tell me when I called last night?”
“She’s not concerned about it. Adele alre-ady went out in search of her.
Kyle huffed loudly, he was really mad at his mother. “Where’s madre?”
“She went to see Manon”
“I’ll be back” Kyle said then got up and walked out. He placed a call to Melvin on his way to his car.
📱… Melvin I nee-d your help… Océane is missing… she didn’t return yesterday… I don’t know… alright
He ended the call and drove out.

Melvin stood before Lise’s father Eddy. His informant had told him that Eddy had drive out of The Hernández mansion then previous day at exactly the time Océane went missing.
They were in another alley where Melvin had tra-pped Eddy on his way home.
“I really don’t know what you’re saying” Eddy said trembling in fear
“You really don’t know?” Melvin sm-irked and gr@bb£d Eddy by the collar “where’s Océane?”
“I don’t know”
Melvin punched him “are you re-ady to talk?”
Eddy t©uçhed his bleedingl-ips and said “I really don’t know”
Melvin scoffed and dragged him again “Whatever Lise paid you, am gonna give you a beating that’ll cost more than that” he punched Eddy again.
Eddy clenched his fist and threw a punch to Melvin but Melvin ducked the punch and gave Eddy a punch on his nose that s£nt him flying to the ground.
Melvin pu-ll-ed a bar from and old trash can and advanced towards Eddy.
“Don’t worry, I recommend a good surgeon for ya” Melvin raised the bar above his head
“I’ll talk plea-se” Eddy screamed
Melvin scoffed “Talk”
“I dropped her off in a street but I don’t really know the name”
“you’re taking me there now” Melvin dragged Eddy to his car and pushed him into the pas-s£nger seat “a strand of hair shouldn’t be missing from her head when I find her else…” Melvin paused and cli-cked his ton-gue “RIP in advance bro”
2 HOURS LATER 🕧🕜
“I dropped her here” Eddy said when they got to the sp©t he had left Océane the previous day
“How could you leave her in such deserted place?” Melvin yanked and punched Eddy
“Am sorry. I was just following orders” Eddy said and li-cked his brokenl-ips.
Melvin got down from the car and Eddy followed.
“There’s no building in sight. Just bushes” Melvin said, gazing around
“I don’t think this is worth risking our lives, let’s go back” Eddy said and Melvin sh0t him a scowl that made him mute
“Let’s get going. You have ten minutes to provide Océane” Melvin said “am not a patient person”
ONE… TWO… THREE… FOUR… FIVE… SIX… SEVEN… EIGHT… NINE MINUTES….
“Aargh” they heard skrie-ks and paused
“what’s that noise?” Eddy asked
“scream from girls” Melvin replied and ran towards them noise was coming from. They c@m£ to a push and jumped into it.
Melvin huffed loudly on seeing some men trying to f0rç£ themselves on Océane and another girl. Three of the men alre-ady had the other girl down while the other men were struggling with Océane.
“Calm down pretty, it’s just for the fun, you don’t have to scream” one of the men sad and they others seized Océane
“Aren’t you going to save them?” Eddy asked Melvin. The men hadn’t noticed them yet.
“Let’s join in the fun” Melvin sm-irked and unfastened his belt
“what?”
“Just shut up and watch” Melvin approached the man who was on the other girl and kicked him off her.
“Get up. Am not descent” he told the girl and turned to the others
“Thank you” she mouthed and he simply win-ked at her
“This is none of your business” One of the men hurled at Melvin
“Really?” Melvin arched his brows “How’re you Océane?”
Océane was p@n-ting real ha-rd and couldn’t even respond.
“I see they got you exhausted” Melvin said and flogged one of the men with his belt
“You’re so dead” their leader clenched his fist and threw a punch at Melvin but Melvin caught his clenched fist. He twisted his hand to the back and kicked him violently.
“Ouch!” he gro-an ed as he brushed his face on the ground
“Next” Melvin wra-pped the belt around his palm and approached the men
“Not me” they ran off, stumbling as they went.
Melvin laughed “But the fun just begun” he turned to Océane “Sorry I c@m£ late”
“Melvin?! Thank you” Océane said
“you don’t have to thank me. What are you doing here?”
Océane shifted her gaze to Melvin “he abandoned me here”
“It’s okay. Let’s go” Melvin said
“I don’t want to” Océane said and went to stand with the girl
“Why?”
“Am better off here”
Melvin looked around. There was a cottage nearby “you really like it here?”
“It’s better. I don’t want to be a burden for anyone” Océane said referring to Adele
“it’s alright Océane. I alre-ady called Kyle so he’d be here soon or I can take you to him”
Océane shook her head “I don’t want to go”
“Am not leaving you here” Melvin stated
“am fine here”
Melvin took Océane’s hand and made to drag her when the other girl, Gabby, kicked him on his face.
“Ouch!” Melvin yelped
“Gabby, you didn’t have to” Océane scolded
“if you had fought the men like this, they would’ve all gone home with crackedl-ips” Eddy said
“Am sorry” Gabby apologized “I thought he was going to hurt her”
Melvin’s phone started ringing and he brou-ght it out from his pocket. He looked at the caller’s ID and it was Sophia calling.
“I’ve got a d@t£ today and I can’t afford to miss it” he di-pped the phone back in his pocket without answering it “Kyle would be here soon, you dare not prove stubborn”
“Finally” Eddy breathed out in relief
“You’re not going with me” Melvin spat out
“But why?”
“My car isn’t enough for the both of us so you have to trek back” Melvin replied and looked at Océane “I’ll be going now, take care of yourself till Kyle comes for you” he proceeded to leave
“But we c@m£ in the car together” Eddy said
“I suddenly grew bigger while beating those men” Melvin said and turned to Gabby “and Gabby… I’ll come visiting– for my nose” he win-ked and walked out.
Melvin got to where his car was parked and got it. Eddy tried opening the door but he put it on child lock.
“Hey!” Melvin knocked on the window
Melvin wind down the glas-s “start running” and he drove off
DE PEDRO’S 🏩
Melvin alighted from his car and hurried into the restaurant. Sophia sat alone in an alcove and rose to greet him.
“you kept me waiting” she accused
He extended his hand to give her hand a gentle squee-ze. “Am sorry, something c@m£ up”
After they’ve ordered their food she said “it’s been a while”
“I thought you’d be too busy with the search so I didn’t want to bother you till its over” Melvin said but actually, he’d been too busy with other girls
“That was very considerate of you” Sophia chewed her food thor0ûghly
“So how have you been?” Melvin asked
“Busy like you said” Sophia chuckled softly
“I really missed you”
“St©p flattering me” Sophia blu-shed
“am not flattering you, Sophia I…. ” he sighted Ninon walking towards their table and he hid his face
“Did you see anyone?” Sophia asked looking over her shoulders
“No one” He took her hand and made her face him “I was… just… coughing” he pretended to cough
“sorry” Sophia proffered him with a cu-p of water. Melvin took the water and gulped it down. He watched Ninon walked past there table and out of the restaurant then he sat up straight.
“Are you okay now?” Sophia asked
“Yes. Thanks for the water”
“How’s Kyle and the girl?”
“They’re okay” Melvin replied “Now let’s talk about us”
Sophia chuckled
HERNÁNDEZ MANSION 🏡
Adele returned from her fruitless search for Océane. She slumped into a couch and hvgged a throw pillow to herself.
“Adele?!” Maeva wheeled herself into the living room “where’s Océane?”
“I didn’t find her Maeva, no one saw her around” Adele heaved a de-ep sigh
“Kyle also went in search of her. I wonder if he found her” Maeva said
“where could she have gone?”
“Adele?!” Lise called descending the stairs
“Good evening” Adele greeted
“Where have you been?” Lise asked sternly
“I went out to search for Océane”
Lise scoffed “you left your work to search for her?”
“I had nothing do so….”
“So you went in search of a girl who deliberately ran away” Lise interrupted
“Am sorry” Adele said calmly
“whatever your plans with Océane are in my home, I won’t let it happen” Lise snarled and stormed off
“What’s wrong with madre?” Maeva asked innocently
“I don’t know Maeva”
“I think she hates Océane and is behind her missing”
“Don’t say that Maeva. your mom doesn’t hate Océane and she didn’t s£nd her away” Adele said though she also suspected Lise had something to do with Océane’s missing but she didn’t want Maeva to hate her mother.

Kyle arrived at the address Melvin s£nt him. He found a little cottage and pu-ll-ed his car to a halt. Kyle alighted from his car and saw Gabby outside pla-ying with some little kids.
“Hey!” Gabby called on seeing him “you must be Kyle”
Kyle nodded “and you’re?”
“Gabby, Océane’s friend”
Kyle beamed “where’s Océane?”
Océane walked out and her heart skipped a beat on seeing Kyle.
“Océane?!” Kyle called on seeing her
“Kyle?!” she walked out fully “what are you doing here?”
Kyle got confused “I c@m£ to get you”
“Didn’t Melvin tell you I don’t want to go?
“you can’t stay here”
Océane glanced at Gabby and the kids who were staring at them then she said to Kyle “let’s talk at the back” she led the way to the backyard.
“Kyle I really don’t want to go”
“Why? Am very sorry for what my mother did to you but you can’t punish all of us”
“Am sorry Kyle, but I really don’t want to be a problem to Adele”
“What about Maeva, and Adele? Adele has been enjoying searching everywhere for you, she’s so worried. What about me? How do you expect me to live without you?”
Océane’s breathing ceased and she got speechless.
Kyle took her hand in his “what did madre do to you?”
“Nothing”
“Don’t lie to me” Kyle raised his voice and she flin-ched “you’re going with me”
“But I don’t want to”
Kyle saw the caught on her cheek and held her jaw between his f!ngers. “what happened to you?”
“I fell and injured”
“did Madre do this to you?”
“you shouldn’t be worrying about me. Am okay here”
“I can’t live knowing you’re two hours drive away from me”
“Kyle you’ve always lived it. I want things to go back to the way it was when I haven’t come into your lives. I want everyone to be happy”
“No one is happy. Not Adele, not Maeva, not me”
Océane swallowed ha-rd “am sorry” she said adamantly took few steps back
“Océane don’t do this to me” Kyle’s voice c@m£ out in a whisper “I love you Océane, you have to un-derstand”
