Océane shifted her gaze down to the water shyly.
“Was that sudden?” Kyle asked raising her head up with his middle and index f!ngers”say something” he urged when she wasn’t saying anything.
Océane took in a de-ep breath “Something” she said and Kyle laughed “you asked me to say ‘something’ and I did”
Kyle t©uçhed her gold strands “I love them. Are there natural?” he asked
Océane looked at the strands and said “I think they’re natural”
Kyle chuckled “why have you been hiding from me?”
Océane said nothing
“After hiding the truth from me for 8 years, you still couldn’t tell me that truth”
“Kyle…. ”
“you’re My Señorita right?”
Océane swallowed an invisible lump in her throat.
“Everything about you reminds me of her. Why did you keep me waiting?” Kyle asked further “and how did Lovane get my br@celet?”
“she’s my cousin” Océane blurted out
“I knew there was something between you both”
Océane f0rç£d a smile “I went throu-gh a lot during those years. I couldn’t come to see you”
“but you shouldn’t have continued hiding when you started living with my parents”
“I didn’t want to, but I lose your br@celet so I thought you weren’t going to believe me and would think am an imposter”
Kyle smiled “let’s get out of the water” he went out first “I’ll wait for you at the other side while you get dressed” and with that, he was gone.
Océane c@m£ out of the water then put on her clothes and went to meet Kyle.
“Here” Kyle gave her a cherry as she sat beside him in a stone “tell me about you and Lovane, why is she here acting as you?”

“Yes”
“why would she want it?”
Océane thought for a while, she wasn’t going to tell him she was a mermaid.
“Is there something you aren’t telling me?” Kyle asked into the silence
“No”
“You’re hiding something right?”

Kyle smiled and said nothing again. If she wasn’t going to tell him, then he wasn’t going to f0rç£ her”

Ninon sat in her car outside the restaurant. She felt Melvin was controlling her because she ended up going to meet him despite she had refused at first and after everything he said at his house.
Ninon glanced at the restaurant and got down from her car against her will. Strolling into the restaurant, Ninon sighted Melvin sitting at a corner with dim light.
Was she meeting a fugitive?
She thought
Melvin smiled in seeing her then got up to greet her.
Ninon scoffed and sl@pped out his extended hand “why did you want to meet with me?”
Melvin chuckled and sat down “sit” he pointed to the chair opposite him.
“I don’t want to”
“Then you shouldn’t have come”
“I wouldn’t have if you didn’t ask me to”
Melvin scoffed “I don’t remember dragging you here”
“Am leaving”
“you’re free to” Melvin stated
Ninon remained standing, staring at him and he stared back.
A p@rt of her wanted to leave but another stubborn p@rt remained standing. She sighed in exasperation and sat down.
“I know you wouldn’t leave. You just can’t”
“Melvin start talking I don’t have forever”
“it’s about us”
“There’s nothing about us” Ninon said with an air quotation
Melvin placed his hand on Ninon’s “am sorry”
“I know” Ninon blurted out with a note of sarcasm “you’re a man who-re and regret ever meeting you”
“I know and I won’t deny it. Am trying to change but it’s just not easy”
“That’s cause you haven’t tried”
“I have but it’s difficult. Every girl is just too beautiful”
“you can’t continue to compare every girl”
“that’s why it’s difficult to change”
“you just have to decide who’s better for you”
Melvin stared at her “then I choose you”
“I want Kyle” Ninon said
“Kyle and I are friends, there’s nothing wrong with d@t!ngthe both of us” Melvin noted
Ninon gave him a level stare “how on earth am I going to d@t£ to friends?”
“nothing is impossible un-der the sun and besides Kyle isn’t showing any interest”

“not when he doesn’t have anyone to fight for” Ninon sm-irked referring to Océane
“so what are you going to do about it?”Melvin wanted to know

“am not falling for it” Ninon got up and he gr@bb£d her arm

Ninon pushed at him “I can’t trust you again” and with that, she was gone
“you can’t trust me hvg?” Melvin scoffed to himself “but I can always thrû-st you”
Ninon got home and my Manon waiting impatiently for her to return.
“what’s wrong mother?” Ninon asked observing her mother
“Then men we paid to kill Océane have been caught”
“what?” Ninon g@sped “how did it happen”
“one of the search p@rties sh!pthat was s£nt to Jaina Island saw them” Manon replied
“what are we going to do now?”
“The police doesn’t have any charge against them. They weren’t caught in any act but investigations are still going on”
“Oh! Madre! am scared”
“you do have to be, we’re in this together” Manon said “I’ll visit the men tomorrow in the cell and find out what really happened”
“don’t you think they’ll suspect you?”
“no one is going to. I don’t want to talk next up behind bars”
“no one is going to end up behind bars Ninon, just trust me”
“sure” Ninon stated “there’s nothing I can do aside trying you”
POLICE STATION
“Good day Inspector Dan” Manon greeted
“Good day ma’am, how may I help you?”
“am here to visit Gary and Josh”
“who are you to them?”
“am a friend to The Hernández and am helping them with the chance.
Inspector Dan jotted down necessary informations about her before saying “They’re in the visitor’s room. 2nd window to the right”
“Madre?!” Gary one of the men exclaimed when Manon got to the 2nd window
“get us out of here” Romeo, the other man said
“How could you be so careless that you got caught?”
“The search p@rty that was s£nt to Jaina Island saw us” Romeo replied
“that’s because you didn’t do your job well”
“we did” Gary said
“and the girl?”
“we killed her and threw her corpse into the water” Romeo replied
Manon sm-irked “Good”
“so get us put of here”
“fools!” Manon snarled “you’re gonna eat in jail” she said to herself then asked them “what’s their charge against you?”
“just the blood of the girl which we killed that was floating above the water. They believed we killed someone but no corpse has been found”
“Good” Manon nodded “I’ll see what I can do but for the mean time, you can’t say anything or mention why you were at the island” Manon warned
“we told the police officers that we’re tinkers who got lose and we’re robbe-d or our working materials”
“Good” Manon smiled in satisfaction “you’ll be out in no time”
A female cop signaled Manon that her time was up.
“I have to go now” Manon said and hurried out
HERNÁNDEZ MANSION 🏡
Manon arrived at the Hernández mansion then her driver held the car door open and she got down. she saw two police vehicle’s parked in the garage and her heart started pounding
“you can go now zeed, I’ll call you when I come” Manon dismissed her driver and walked in.
Rodriguez and Lise were sitting with some police officers when she walked in. She greeted everyone and sat beside Lise.
“How are you doing?” Manon asked Lise in a whisper
“am good if I can say” Lise replied and Manon smiled warmly
“… we still believe there’s more to it, it’s either connected to their mission or there’s another crime”
“you’re doing a good job Inspector Dan” Rodriguez complimented
“am just serving our country” inspector Dan said then stood up to his feet and other officers followed. “we’ll be taking our leave now”
Rodriguez saw them off while Manon remained with Lise in the living room.
“am sorry I haven’t been coming around” Manon apologized “I’ve been very busy lately
“it’s okay, I un-derstand” Lise smiled
“How’s the search going?” Manon asked
“The search p@rty has found leads in Jaina Island” Lise replied and Manon’s heart skipped a beat
“what leads?” Manon wanted to know
“Two men were on a boat last night with blood floating around Theo boat. Three corpse were found on the island, one female and two males. There was also a knife in the water that they suspect must’ve been used to kill whoever owns the blood”
Manon’s heart almost jumped out of her mouth “I hope they find them” she managed to say

Three officers wandered in the island till they got to Letricia’s house.
KNOCK! KNOCK! ✊✊
Molly opener the door and on seeing the officers, she shut the door at their face.
They were scared of visitors because of the previous night when Manon and Ninon had visited. Yasmine never returned again, just four of the others were returned, three were killed and the others went missing.
“Molly who’s at the door?” Letricia asked joining here in the living room.
“Three men, all dressed in black. Am so scared” Molly broke down in tears
“Go hide in the be-droom” Letricia said
“what about you mother?” Molly asked
“I’ll be fine”
Molly reluctantly ran into the be-droom and hid un-der the be-d.
Letricia took in a de-ep breath and opened the door. The police officers were still waiting patiently.
“Good day” Letricia greeted nervously
“Good day ma’am” one of the officers greeted
“How may I help you?” Letricia asked
“you don’t have to be scared. We’re officers from the state CID” one of the officers said showing Letricia his ID card
“do come in” Letricia stepped aside and they walked in “tea or coffee” she asked when they were sitting
“Nothing plea-se” one of the officers declined. Letricia nodded and sat down.
“I’m Detective Inspector Rogers” one of the officers introduced “Salter and Josh” he introduced the others “We’re here based on the missing of Kyle Hernández Sanchez and Océane”
“you mean Kyle and Océane?” Letricia asked
“where they here?”
“They’ve been here for three days till they got attacked last night and didn’t return. Even those who went to help them got killed, some got injured, and some where taken away”
The officers exchanged glances “do you have an idea of who is behind the attack?”
“yes, Ma….” Letricia felt something pierce into the back of her n£¢k just before she finished the statement and she down dead facing the floor. A dart was sh0t into her n£¢k.
“someone is here” Salbert said and they all ran out to see who sh0t the dart.
“There’s no one” Josh said when they had searched around the house.
Inspector Rogers placed a call to the CID.
📱 We nee-d back up… Jiana Island… what?
Inspector Rogers dropped the call.
“what happened?” Josh asked
“The two suspects were found dead in their cell”
