CHAPTER 61
Daphne is supposed to be discharged from the hospital soon. Her stepmother and William went to see the doctor. Some people have been watching them since and waiting for them to leave. Those persons are Tiana and her friends. They wanted to use the opportunity to quickly see Daphne and apologize before Mrs Vincent and William come back. Their parents have asked them to apologize as soon as possible or face the consequences. They already have enough punishment as it is, they thought.
“What do we do? I’m afraid to go in. What if she calls the cops on us again?” Emma asked quietly. I’m
“Let us wait till those people leave. I will go in first and you guys can come in later.” Tiana @$$ured them.
“What if she doesn’t want to see us? What if she doesn’t forgive us? What do we do then? We can’t let her stepmother see us, she might call the police thinking we came here to bother her daughter.” Alice said unsure.
“Just leave everything to me. I got you guys into this mess and I will get you out. Let’s just wait till they leave the room.” Tiana whispered still watching the ward.
Once they left, Tiana walked into the ward where Daphne was sitting up and resting on the pillow. She was watching a movie on her phone when Tiana walked in. Her phone almost fell from her hand because she felt rage at this time. Since she felt no pain in her body anymore, she considered herself fit enough to fight back.
“Hi…” Tiana tried to say but was cut off by angry Daphne.
“What are you doing here? What else do you want from me?!” Daphne questioned in rage.
“I’m just here to…”
“Oh let me guess, you’re here to finish what you started. You originally planned to kill me but you heard I didn’t die so you came to kill me right?”
“No, that’s not…”
“I dropped all charges against you and your useless friends. You still have the guts to come here? Haven’t you done enough? I can’t…” Daphne stopped when she saw Alice and Emma walk in. “Wow. You really don’t want to learn. You even came in with your friends to continue? You think I’ll cry and beg you not to kill me?”
“No, we did not come here to do such a thing. Please just give us a chance. That’s all we ask for.” Alice pleaded.
Daphne looked at them suspiciously. She didn’t trust them even if they looked sober. She keeps thinking they have something up their sleeves for them to act this way.
“What exactly do you wanna say now? I won’t leave Jared because of you. I was stupid to think I could, I will never be able to live if I do that. He is a pa-rt of my life now, and I can’t imagine my life anymore without him. Don’t waste your sweat, I won’t leave even if I die.” Daphne @$$ured them.
No one except Tiana noticed Jared sneak into the room. Tiana is the only one who knows how he walks into a place without making any sound and stopping the door from making sounds. Perhaps he did this because he thought they would try to harm Daphne again. The thought of what Jared would do to Tiana and her friends if they tried that made her cringe.
“Just listen to them darling. I think they are here to amend their wrongs. I know nothing they say now will take away the pain they gave you, but they have learnt their lessons… I think.” Jared told Daphne holding her hand.
Daphne felt at ease now that Jared was around. She decided to listen to them, so she gave them a go ahead.
“We are very sorry for what we did to you. I am sorry in pa-rticular, I know I did you wrong a lot. I shouldn’t have acted so childish and stupid. You are a kind person for letting us go, you didn’t deserve what we did to you. On behalf of my friends and I, we ask for your forgiveness and promise never to bother you again.” Tiana said sincerely.
“Are you apologizing because of your parents? You don’t have to unless you really feel sorry…”
“We are sorry. I promise this is not about what our parents would do to us. I am more guilty because I learnt martial arts to stop people from bullying me but I ended up becoming a bully. I feel stupid and useless. We would never do this again, please forgive us.” Alice cuts her off.
“I know it is ha-rd, you must hate me most especially. But I am the one who nee-ds your forgiveness the most. My boyfriend also left his ex girlfriend because of me, I should have un-derstood you and stopped my friend. Nothing can bring back the past, but we really want your forgiveness to be at peace.” Emma added with her face down.
Daphne sighed looking at the three of them. She looked at Jared who sque-ezed her hand and gave her a go ahead to forgive them.
She nodded, “Look, I have nothing against you girls. I’m very sure you have realized your mistakes. I have forgiven you since, if not I wouldn’t drop the charges against you. I just wanted to put on a show a little.”
Tiana’s face lit up, “Really? You forgive us for real?”
“You don’t want me to?” Daphne asked with a surprised expression.
“No, not really. We’re so happy and excited. Thank you so much, I am truly sorry.”
Jared stopped Tiana from talking, “I think you should leave now. I can hear them coming back.”
Alice and Emma don’t un-derstand how he hears them but Tiana and Daphne does. At least Tiana kept her promise of not revealing Jared’s identity to anyone even though she was mad at him. That’s one of her best qualities. She is good secret keeper.
“You should leave now, my stepmother is still not happy with you all. You can talk to her some other time.” Daphne warned them.
“Okay, thank you very much.” Tiana said and rushed out of the room with Alice and Emma. They went the other way while Mrs Vincent and William came another way. Tiana and her friends felt relieved to be forgiven by Daphne. Indeed they were not doing this because of their parents, they did it for peace of mind.
Mrs Vincent walked towards Daphne with some papers and a smile. She still doesn’t know Jared is the one who the girls were fighting for because none of them disclosed his identity. Daphne did not want any trouble for Jared.
“Dear, we can now go home now. You have been discharged as there is no pain in your body anymore.” Mrs Vincent announced.
“She doesn’t look like she was beaten days ago. I think she can do the chores now.” William teased while his mother glared at him.
“Mom, I want to go with Jared for today. Please can I?” Daphne pleaded.
Mrs Vincent looked at Jared who is surprised, “You two should be careful with yourselves… You know what I mean.”
Jared shook his head innocently, “I did not plan this with her, I don’t know…”
“Don’t lie Jared, she already knows you’re my boyfriend. Thanks mom. Let’s go Jared.” Daphne got up from the bed holding his hand.
“Wow. Now I have to do the chores at home today.” William whined.
“Will you shut your mouth or should I help you out?” Mrs Vincent asked.
“Bye mom, bye Willy.” Daphne waved running out of the room with Jared.
“She was fine the whole time?” William asked in surprise.
“Shut up and let’s go. You have chores to do.” Mrs Vincent dragged him off.
“I’ve got a girlfriend to visit too mom, why does she get the best things today?…” He continued to whine while he was being dragged away.
Meanwhile outside, Jared stopped Daphne.
“You just got discharged, shouldn’t you be going home to rest? Why spend the day with me?” Jared asked concerned.
She scoffed, “You sound like you don’t want to see me…”
“That’s not it…”
“Then shut up and take me home. I miss you already, don’t you miss me too?” She whispered the last pa-rt in his ears making him ha-rd.
“But you’re not well and…”
She cuts him off with a kizz. “Says who? Shut up or I will shut you up.”
She pulled him away ready to give him all as she missed him a lot. The same goes for Jared who has been a gentleman controlling himself.
CHAPTER 62
The next day, Umbrie went for the training. She was more prepared to prove Louis wrong about her. She got there thirty minutes earlier than everyone else. She trained alone not caring if the others would come or not. Louis met her training alone, he smiled on seeing her. She was too busy to perceive or notice anything.
When she turned to take some water, she saw him staring at her. She rolled her eyes and turned to leave without saying anything. He stopped in front of her, looking at her with pitiful eyes.
“What do you want now commander sir?” Umbrie asked in a mocking tone.
Louis sighed, “I know you are mad at me. I am completely sorry for what I did to you yesterday. Nothing I say now would justify my actions because I was terrible.”
“What do you want me to do now? You already did what you wanted. Please leave me alone, I am trying to train like you wanted as you can see.” She tried to move again but he stopped her.
“Don’t leave Umbrie. I am truly sorry. I already reconciled with Kieran, we are friends now. I don’t want to lose a wonderful friend like you either.”
Umbrie choked on her breath when she heard that. “What? You became friends with Kieran? What on earth is going on? How did that happen?”
“It just happened. I know I acted childish and you hate me now. I hope you can give me one more chance to make it right.”
Umbrie saw the sincere look in his eyes. She sighed, “You don’t have to treat me specially but you can’t treat me like I am the your enemy either.”
“Does this mean you are no longer mad at me?”
“Yeah, whatever.”
This made Louis smile and happy that he got his friend back. During the training, he treated Umbrie no different from the others. Surprisingly, Umbrie is doing so much better than before. Maybe his scolding did work on her after all.

EVENING
UMBRIE’S RESIDENT ( WYNN HOUSE)
The family are having a gathering in which Kieran and his parents are invited. While Kieran and Umbrie are staying in Umbrie’s room, Jared also invited his girlfriend Daphne. Mrs Wynn asked them to let her do the special cooking tonight. Sky is in his room pla-ying with his toys and doing his experiments again.
Daphne greeted Mrs Wynn who is being helped by her husband in the kitchen. Mrs Wynn already knows Daphne as Umbrie’s friend so she is surprised to see her with Jared.
“What are you doing with her? Is she your girlfriend?” Mrs Wynn asked Jared.
He gladly replied, “Yes mom. She is my mate.”
“Wow… I never thought you’d get a decent girlfriend. How did such a sweet girl end up with this cold man?” Mrs Wynn teased Jared.
Jared who is aware of what his mother is doing just smiled.
“He is not actually what everyone thinks he is. He is the sweetest and best boyfriend I could ever have.” Daphne replied smiling at him.
“Oh… I heard what happened to you. I am glad you are good now, he must really love you.”
“Yes he does.”
Mrs Wynn smiled, “That’s good to know. At least she is someone whose character I know well. You two go ahead my dear, I will call everyone when dinner is ready.”
“I’d like to help…”
“Don’t worry dear, my husband is doing the helping today so just sit. You are our guest tonight.” Mrs Wynn cuts her off.
“Let’s go darling.” Jared pulled her away before his mother would say anything else.
They go upstairs to Jared’s room which is the first time Daphne would enter his room in this house. Daphne saw that it’s not too different from what his other room at his apa-rtment looks like. She didn’t get to see it well the time she peeped last time.
“Whoa… I never thought I’d be given to chance to enter this room. I only walk past it all the time.” Daphne said sitting on a chair.
Jared pulled another chair in front of her and sat down. “That was before I discovered you. You are more than welcome to stay here anytime you want. Except you want to bring my sister along.”
Daphne laughed at the never ending saga between Jared and Umbrie, they always act like rivals.
“Why don’t you want your own sister in your room? She is your blood remember? I am just…your girlfriend.”
Jared held her hand, “My sister is so annoying, she doesn’t un-derstand privacy when it comes to me. I don’t know how her boyfriend still manages to be with her seriously. But then, thinking about who her boyfriend is I am not surprised.”
Daphne laughed. Jared continued, “I have something important to ask of you.”
“What is it?”
Jared cleared his throat, “I have ummm… I have been thinking about this since I found you. I know it’s too sudden, but there’s no other confirmation nee-ded for me to know you are the right one for me…”
Daphne became tensed and serious, she kept wondering where he was going. Gladly, this doesn’t sound like a breakup.
“What exactly are you trying to say Jared?” She inquired curiously.
Jared pulled the drawer beside him and brou-ght out a beautiful ring. It was well designed and seems to have been there for a long time. Daphne’s heart beat increa-sed.
“I want to marry you…”
“What? Hold on Jared. Let’s calm down… I love you a lot and you know that. I don’t want you to ever think otherwise. But then… I am just nineteen and I don’t think I am ready yet. I would love to marry you in future otherwise…” Daphne explained.
Jared laughed, “Why won’t you let me finish first? I was going to say I want to marry you but I know you are not ready yet. I can hear your thoughts and feel your emotions. I just want you to keep this ring as a sign of my love, I don’t ever want to lose you.”
Daphne ended up laughing, “I am sorry. I am sorry. I didn’t mean for that to happen. I guess I’m too impatient, of course I’d take the ring. It’s so beautiful.”
“It belonged to my grandfather, he wanted me to have it at all costs. I couldn’t reject it. I’m glad you like it. At least now it should keep them away from you.”
“I smell jealousy. Are you worried they would take me away from you?”
Jared scoffed, “I would snap their ne-cks out of their bodies if they came close to you. I am not worried about anything.”
Daphne kizzed him, “That’s scary. I don’t want you to do that. There won’t be any nee-d, I am yours. No one can take me away from you. Same goes for you too. I love you.”
He kizzed her again, “I love you more.”
MEANWHILE
“Whose hoodie is this? It looks like a man’s own. It’s not mine and it is definitely not your brother’s own.” Kieran asked taking the hoodie out of her closet.
Umbrie nodded, “Stop going throu-ghmy stuff. That belongs to Scott. He gave it to me a few days ago. I will return it when he gets back.”
Kieran frowned, “What?! You took clothes from that guy too? I knew he was up to something when he kept hitting on you? Does he think I am invisible?”
“You over possessive jealous freak. It’s just a hoodie! Why must you get jealous over everything. I asked him to lend me because I forgot mine. He did not give it willingly.” Umbrie scoffed.
Kieran wanted to say something. The door opened revealing little brother Sky.
“Mom asked me to get you two. His parents are here and dinner is served. Let’s go to the backyard for dinner.” Sky said looking at them weirdly.
“You can go, we’ll be right there…” Umbrie told him.
Sky shrugged, “Okay.”
“We will talk about this later. Let’s have dinner first.” Kieran suggested p-ulling her towards the door.
“Whatever.” Umbrie rolled her eyes.
They went to the dining area set at the backyard to contain the four extra guests at the house today. Mrs Wynn made a lot of good food and they all liked it. After dinner, Mrs Wynn cleared everywhere while thru all sat down eating the sweet dessert made by Mrs Diaz.
“I am so glad everything is going well now and we are all here together happily. It was so ha-rd with everything that was going on.” Mr Wynn said.
“There’s something I still find strange though.” Mrs Diaz spoke up.
“What is it mom?”
“How I got healed so suddenly after sustaining such a serious disease. I still don’t un-derstand what happened.”
“Come on mom, I have told you this so many times before. It’s the moon goddess who let you heal so fast. You should be happy she loves you that much.” Kieran replied her.
She smiled, “That could be right my son. I’m just really glad nothing happened to me.”
Sky looked at his older brother, sister and Kieran. They all gave him a knowing smile. A talent like his is not something everyone should know about. It could put him in danger in the future and a lot of people might come after him. They are better off not knowing anything about his powers.
“I’m glad too mom.”
