Chapter 17
• Umbrie’s POV •
My saturday was going well as Sky and I did everyone’s laundry including Jared’s because he doesn’t like anyone touching his clothes. He was a piece of work but I wasn’t having it today. I wanted to do something nice for him since he had been out all night with the other warriors.
I called Alpha Damien and he said Keiran was doing okay and would be discharged in a few days.
I feel bad for him though this happened because he left in the first place but it must have been horrible being locked away from the world with no hope of survival.

Daphne called me but I couldn’t respond to any of her calls yet. It was like I was doing an oath of silence because I ha-rdly said anything to anyone.
I was just lost in my head thinking about what went down in a short period of time. The fact that Louis acted all swoon with me. He even wanted to make out with me. I would have gone crazy if anything inti-mate happened between us.
No one knows what to do with him yet and he has been interrogated but Alpha Damien said something that I can’t seem to make out. He said I wasn’t his target.
I’m not the one he was se-nt to hurt. Well, he sure did hurt me.

“Sky, I’ll drop you off at Guy’s house and go somewhere. I’ll be back before lunch so we can go out to eat, alright?” I said softly to him and he nodded.

“Guy is cool. I’ll go get my bag.” He said running off to his bedroom.
I carried the heavy basket filled with my clothes and carted it upstairs to my room. I got dressed in a lazy jeans and loose top which was white like my shoes.
We left the house after locking up everywhere and the taxi I had called was already outside waiting.

After dropping him at Guy’s place so he could pla-y games with him and his baby sister, I headed for the pack house to see Louis.
For some reason, the two warriors watching him told me that beta has asked that no one speak to him but after much pleading;

“Fine, you can see him but be quick with it.” I finally heard from one of them.
I was glad I was let in and I proceeded into the dark room where Louis was sitting on the floor.

He looked up almost immediately and I took in the bruise around his li-p and another one that rested next to his right eye.

“Took you long enough, Umbrie.” He said wearing a cold empty look.
For a moment there, it didn’t seem like he was talking to me.

“Were you a pawn? Were you a toy those rogues used to just get what they wanted?” I asked taking a feeble step close and he laughed.

“I was really good to you, Umbrie. I was but you ended up doing this without talking to me first. I might have helped you find your stupid boyfriend.”
His hand shifted and that was when I saw the rope that was used to bound his hands. I didn’t see them before.

“I couldn’t trust you. You were so shady and ha-rd to read. You should just explain everything so you’ll be released. Maybe, I don’t care why you did this but at least, if it was for a less harmful course, no one would want to hurt you.” I stated.

“You might think different but it doesn’t change anything. I’ve been figured out. You’ve pla-yed your pa-rt, now let me pla-y mine. If you have nothing else to say, you can get out.” He lowered his head focusing on the ground like he was when I came in.

“You know you hurt me, right? I actually thought you were Keiran. You emotionally @$$aulted me and you came to my room for peace sake. You even spent time with Sky. How could you do all that and just think it’s okay? Do you know what mate is all about?”

“Maybe I did all that because I pitied you and I struggled between being the bad guy and the good guy. I had to deal with it because you didn’t want to break the bond so I can focus on what I came for—”

“What did you come for?” I cut him off and he scoffed.

“You’ll know after I’m done with it.” He said with glistening eyes.

“I feel like making you pay badly and at the same time, I pity you.” I muttered.

“Just stay away from this matter. You are just a kid. Let the grown ups settle their beef. Bye now.” He waved with his bound hands.

For some reason, it was like a psychopath talking. I slowly left the room, I might as well forget about him.

I went to Guy’s home and picked Sky. We headed for a restaurant nearby and I ordered his favorite meal with dessert for him.

“After I’m done, we can go see Keiran, right?” He asked with wide eyes.

“How did you know about Keiran?” I asked astonished.

“I heard mom telling dad what happened. I’m not dumb, gosh. You guys always keep things from me. I don’t like it.” He blurted and I rolled my eyes.
There’s so much going on that he really can’t handle knowing.
I’ve really made it my duty to protect him and make sure no one in the pack finds out that Sky has special abilities.
Alpha Damien knew but not the others. It was more riskier than it seemed. They might take advantage and we’d hate that more than anything else.

Sky should be old enough to decide if he wants to help people with his powers or not. But that’s when he’s old enough. Right now, the ten year old could ba-rely turn on the cooker.
We don’t want to steal his childhood from him.

The hospital was close by so we took a bus. Sky got Keiran some flowers and I was surprised he knew the right thing to do.

We got slotted in and took the elevator to his ward. When we arrived. He was up sitting on his bed, fully dressed. I wondered why he took off the beautiful uniform patients wore.

Sky ran over to where he was and they engaged in a hu-g.
Acting like his mom, I properly closed the door and sat on the chair which was next to the wall — away from the bed.

“You are so strong, Keiran. I want to have strong muscles like you!” Sky yelled showing him his little muscles.

“Whoa…they look so good.” Keiran told him and he giggled.
I dropped my head by the wall and soon, I slept off in that position. I didn’t know how long I slept when I woke up.
I found Sky sleeping on Keiran’s bed but there was no sign of Keiran.

I got goosebumps as I got up and checked the door in the room, it was a mini toilet and bathroom for the patient.
I shut the door and turned around to see Keiran standing at the entrance and clutching onto a bag in his hand.

“Where were you?” I half-whispered so I don’t wake my brother.

He turned around and closed the door before walking to the table. He tossed the bag on it.
“Getting food.” He shortly replied and I nodded.
I nervously walked to the couch and sat on it.
He had a mean cold face like someone got him mad while he was away because he obviously was laughing with Sky a while ago or was it just a façade?

We stood there staring at each other for a long time. It was so long that I was lost in his gaze. It was like we both wanted to say something but we can’t make it out.

“Do you want me to spend the night with you?” I asked mutely.

“Spend the night with me?” He paused like he was breaking the words into pieces in his head. “Will you choke me in my sleep?” He asked studying me with his eyes.

“Yeah. I will.” I replied turning to see Sky moving.
I rushed and held him so he doesn’t fall off the bed.

“I will call my mom to take him home.” I said, taking my phone out and dialing her number.

My wolf seemed to be happy and giddy inside of me that I was staying the night. I didn’t even know when I said that. Maybe they was what my body felt.

I sat alone waiting for mom to come get Sky while Keiran changed back into his hospital wears. I guessed he wanted mom to see him in the clothe.

Sky woke up before mom could come get him. She said she’d take Sky to get a haircut and that made Sky happy to leave.
Then it was just Keiran and I.
He still remained in the uniform and laid on the bed with the blanket over his body.

“So, where do you intend to sleep?” He asked and I pointed at the sofa. I would have picked the hospital bed if his body wasn’t so large and he didn’t occu-py the bed with his frame.

“Okay, then. Can you please turn on the television? Also close the windows, it’s getting late.” He ordered not giving out a lively expression on his face. He looked straight up stern.

I’ll just help him out since I’m stronger than he is.

I grabbed the remote and turned on the TV before shutting the windows. It was getting dark outside.

His phone started ringing from the shelf where he had left it and his eyes slowly drifted to me.

“Can you get that for me?” He inquired and being the weirdo I was, I picked up the phone and handed it to him.

“Thanks.” He said before answering the call.

I sat down at the foot of the bed watching the live football from the screen. He seemed to be talking to his dad and after the call, he dropped his phone aside.

I suddenly felt him kicking my back softly with his feet.

“Get me the bag I came in with. That’s my dinner.” He said kicking me a few more times. Sometimes, he just treats everyone like a male.
I’m a damn female, Keiran!

“Go get it yourself.” I grumbled not resisting.

“You are such a mood.” He groused leaving the bed.
No, HE’S such a mood!

“Umbrie, it’s gonna be a full moon tomorrow. You wanna come so I can chain you to my bed?” He teased with a stern face and I rolled my eyes.

“Nope, we are all going to the pack house.” I broke it to him and he cursed un-der his breath. “Besides, I’d tear your bed in half.”

“The nerves.” He growled before sitting down.

“Where’s Alpha Damien’s office?” I asked getting up to my feet.

“Why do you want to know? I thought you are here because of me.” He said squinting his eyes.

I chuckled. “I’m here for you, silly but I want to know his office in case something happens to you. What if you start convulsing? Or your eyeba-llsdisappear? Or you can no longer breath? Or you develop a heart attack?” I questioned obviously thinking way ahead of myself.

“Till then, we will figure it out. It seems like you picture me already dying in your head. It’s gonna be a long night then, Umbrie.” He muttered his response while opening up the bag.
