Episode 87.
Uche tapped me when a little sleep pas-sed throu-gh my eyes,
“Chinwe is on phone, he said stretching the phone to me and I got it from him.
“Hi seen them yet? I asked.
“Yes! My boys are looking so big, chai Dora look at you, why you allow them to tall pas-s you na? She asked and I laughed.
“Kettle calling pot black, I replied.
“Abegi you no try, leave to chop akpu you no go hear, Chinwe said and I just shook my head smiling.
“plea-se help me follow them up with their drugs, I said.
“Yes doctor, oya bye bye and safe trip tomorrow, she said and dropped the call.
I saw the guys dressed up re-ady to leave the house,
“Where to? I asked.
“To get the coffin nau, I told you we will be going there later and there are few things we nee-d to fix especially our car, Linda crush replied and I nodded.
“The car? You found it? I asked.
“Why i no go find am? E dey mechanic now and na we-tin we go use travel with the ambulance tomorrow so, they replied.
“So continue with your nap okay, we will be back soon, Uche said giving me a pe-ck and left with the guys.
I stood up locking the door and settled down calling Chinwe so I can hear my brothers voice one more time………….
The next morning the guys were alre-ady off to the mortuary to get Benson, I couldn’t go with them scared of the environment.
I and Uche decided to wait for them on the road so we will join them as the ambulance pas-ses.
It was a long trip, a very long one and I noticed I wasn’t feeling anxious to go back to the village after so many years.
I was just calm talking with Uche and one of the guys who joined us in the car.
We sle-pt and woke up, sle-pt again and woke up and wondered if the journey will never end😞
We finally arrived and deposited Benson b©dy in a close by mortuary not far from the village, as it was not possible to get him buried that same day with the long distance.
We wanted meeting his family first before shocking them with the ghost of their son, when we got there was when I began to wonder how Benson family will take such a news.
When we drove to Benson compound and stepped down, I met his sister who helped me once I fainted before my mom death.
She wasn’t surprised to see me after all, rather she attem-pted to pounce on me like she wanted tearing me ap@rt,
“Where is my brother corpse? What did you do to my brother! Was what she shouted on me when the guys held her.
She began screaming her head out calling out crowd into the compound,
“So Dorothy it was true? That you have cult boys who goes around killing people for you, you even killed your uncle after all he did for you and your brothers? You are wicked! Some women shouted and I felt like packing stones to throw at them for spewing such ru-bbish on me.
“Wait wait wait! Who is telling you all this lies? Uche shouted on them using Igbo while Benson sister was busy crying.
“Your uncle, he s£nt news to the village that Benson is dead and you hide his b©dy. Where is his b©dy so we can bury our son? A man angrily asked and I looked at the guys.
I was here busy thinking no one knows about Benson death but my uncle has alre-ady s£nt news spre-ading my name that I killed him.
“So Manfred spre-ad this lies about me huh? I asked.
“Shut up my friend how dare you call him Manfred? Have some respect! A woman shouted on me.
“So that dead chicken called Manfred had the guts to say ru-bbish about me when he was the one who killed your son there in Lagos! Did you not know that your son was working for Manfred doing dirty jobs for him? I asked.
“Shut up! Manfred has always been helping the young guys in this village so shut up! A man shouted on me that Linda crush got angry and attem-pted to pounce on him but Uche held him.
“Listen everyone, we c@m£ for peace and for the purpose of bringing your son back to you. We had no idea you were alre-ady aware of his death, we had to take up all the pains to bring him here ourselves.
Manfred is lying……. “Why did you kill him! A young guy shouted interrupting Uche.
“As i was saying, Manfred is lying, we have no hand in Benson death. In fact Benson was running away from Manfred and got himself involved in a car accident, it was Dorothy here who saved him.
He was in the hospital unconscious when Manfred still s£nt his guys to kill him but we intervened and ran away with him to our place.
It was in our place Benson woke up and talked to us, he even told us he knows where Aunty Magdalene is, Uche said and everyone eyes bulged out.
“Magdalene? Which of the Magdalene biko? Is it the one we know? A woman asked tying her wra-pper well.
“Yes the Magdalene everyone knows, Benson said it himself that Magdalene is in Manfred room! Uche dropped and people began talking.
“Shut up my friend what do you know? What nons-en-se are you talking! A man c@m£ out challenging Uche and the funniest of my friend pinched me,
“He’s one of the killers, he whispered in my ears and I smiled.
“Why are you attacking him because he said the truth? Or are you like Manfred and you’re scared you may be dragged down in it because you know what he is saying is the truth! I shouted back on him and he looked at me.
“You this girl, how dare you talk to me that way, you prostitute! He shouted.
“Listen everyone, Manfred is an evil man and that evil caught up with him in the village when he tried to kill me and my brothers after he succeeded in killing Benson. He tied up my brothers and set the house on fire over there at Lagos, despite he killed my parents to make himself powerful. Aunty Magdalene is also his victim and if you don’t believe us, break into his house and go to his room, or is it forbidden to do so? I shouted.
“You will do no such thing! two men shouted.
“And why not? If what she’s saying is the truth then let’s find out by ourselves! A woman boldly shouted and few youths stood with her.
“Manfred is dead and his b©dy will be coming tomorrow, so why can’t we go into his house? What is he hiding in there? A guy shouted.
“They won’t let you in because that is their secret chamber, even your all knowing chief priest is aware of aunty Magdalene disappearance but he won’t say it out because he is one of them! I dropped and everyone went wild.
The men tried talking but my friends pushed them aside and charged the youth the more saying words to them that made them more determined to know what exactly is going on.
They marched at once to Manfred place leaving I, Uche, Benson family and 3 wicked chiefs in Benson compound.
The men faces were red and i walked up to them,
“Don’t think i don’t know what you did to my parents, but be rest as-sured that if Manfred didn’t go Scot free despite he was that powerful, you won’t go free too all of you! I shouted at their faces.
“You shall see, they said pointing their walking sticks on me and left the compound.
“Is what you said true? Benson sister calmly asked and we sat down outside and talked, that was how i told her everything that happened.
“Believe me it wouldn’t have been possible to bring your brother corpse back if Manfred had succeeded, but he’s not far from you, I said when I was done and she was only crying nodding her head.
“Thank you, and sorry for what my brother did to you, she said.
“Its forgotten, are we seeing him now? I asked.
“Yes yes, she said and they went in to change up leaving me with Uche outside waiting for them.
“Things decided to change, what do you think is going to happen at Manfred place? Uche asked me.
“Its none of my business, the guys are not ignorant of his deeds and they can handle themselves. Its such a shame the stupid man used his hand to sign more trouble on his head before he died, i replied.
“The youths are angry with just a little i gave out, they will find out more themselves and it will be bloody Dora because i know those guys, they will surely kill someone especially as our friends are involved charging them, Uche said.
“As long as is the evil they will kill, they are very free to do so, i said and they c@m£ out.
We got into the car and drove off to the mortuary leaving the heat in the village for a while………..
When they got in to see Benson, Uche was too worried and decided to call the guys over there which they didn’t pick up after 3 rings.
“Dora i think it’s not easy over there, aren’t you worried? he asked me and i heaved.
“If God is fighting my battles why should i worry? The guys are perfectly fine i can feel it, if the youth are rising up plea-se let them do so and fight for justice, i replied and they c@m£ out with their faces so furious after seeing Benson..
“I am waiting for his corpse to arrive tomorrow, he will surely pay i don’t care if he is alre-ady Dead! His sister shouted and i held her.
“plea-se we have to go, i nee-d to know what’s going on over there in the village, Uche said.
“Me too, we said,got into the car and drove off…………..
