EPISODE 9
JACK’S POV
I’m a good judge of character and that is why JJ made me the head of all his staffs including the ones at the office, the trust he has for me is like that of Jesus and his disciples.
I’m this kind of person that only need to see you once, interact with you then I come to a conclusion to the kind of person I presume you to be.
JJ trust me with everything and I’m doing everything within my powers not to let that trust die.
Before he employed the new girl, Sonia, he came home and discussed it with me, I didn’t know Sonia then but my guts told me she meant no harm, I mean who would go to a school to sell to kids just because she wants to harm him? he onot visit that school once in a year or once in six months, any time he goes there unannounced is because he misses his late brother so much…. so why would anyone think of going there just to hurt him?
You are surprise? yeah I was surprised too when he told me the reason why he always visited the school… that was the same school he attended with his twin brother, so one day he had an argument with his brother and they both went home separately, that was the last time he saw his brother, his mother and his mother looked for Josiah for days but didn’t find him, only for them to hear about a died child some weeks later…. everything they found on the dead child matches with what Josiah wore the day he went missing.
Even though his mom was in denials for months that her son was still alive, Josiah never came back up till date.
Every year around that time his brother went missing, he will go to the school and present gifts to the children, hoping that his twin will rest in peace for dying untimely.
The day Sonia came to the house with the other lady whom I’m yet to know her name, we were both in the living room discussing about work when we saw them at the gate camera….. he smiled after he checked the time and saw that she came ten minutes before the appointment time…. if you want a good working relationship with JJ always keep to time, he hate late comers and doesn’t take it lightly.
And yeah, we turned the camera from it’s normal position so it won’t be noticed able by sonia or her friends…. It was because JJ wanted to he sure if Sonia was a late comer or she was punctual with time that made him ask the camera man to redirect the position of the camera into the living room where he could confirm for himself.
I was the one who went outside to open the gate for them, well I didn’t let them in, why should I? I asked them some few questions and went back inside to hear what JJ would have to say…he gave me a note to give to her, I gave it to them and locked the gate.
The meeting was brief but I already liked Sonia, aside her beautiful face, she was a punctual person, she wasn’t too forward just like her friend….she was calm and bearing.
But what surprised me was the fact that she had to come to an interview with her friend…. who does that?
I know you guys might be wondering why JJ has so much staffs and why his house is filled with security… well, around last year he had a fracas with someone, there was this business deal he was pursuing, everyone had a fair share of the biding but when it was obvious that they were going to award the contract to him, there was an attempt to murder him, it was only the grace of God and myself that JJ wasn’t killed…. we had no idea how the a-ssa-ssin broke into the house, I was already on my way going to spend a night at my babe’s place when I remembered the stuffs i got for her earlier and went back to carry it.
Long story cut short, I was able to handle the guys in the compound, I’m a good fighter,I’m not bragging though
(Chuckle)
Unfortunately for me, I was hit on the head with a pistol and I immediately had concoction, but I didn’t relent, I fought them till the other two ran away.
the one who seem to he their leader shot at JJ but I pushed him out of the way and the bullet brushed throu-ghmy left arm.
I lost consciousness, when I regain consciousness I found out I was in the hospital…. JJ told me some police were on patrol so they heard gun shots and decided to step in.
Enough of JJ’s story, I’m sure he will tell you guys more about it himself.
BACK TO REALITY
I called JJ and informed him er were already leaving the house, he told me to make sure Sonia got everything she wanted.
I accepted and ended the call, I waited for Sonia in the car and soon she and her friend came outside.
Sonia wanted to seat at the front seat with me but her friend was fas-ter, she pushed her out of the way and sat down at the front.
SONIA
meet my friend, her name is mercy
JACK
mercy? is nice to meet you ma’ma
MERCY
common, that makes me look old, don’t refer to me as ma’ma, mercy is okay.
JACK
alright, that won’t be a problem…. s shall we?
MERCY
yeah!!!!
(she screamed excitedly)
I looked at Sonia’s face and she looked embarra-ssed by her friend’s attitude…..I smile, started the car and drove away.
JOSHUA’S POV
it was 5pm so I decided to close for the day, since I was having a dinner appointment with my staffs it won’t be nice if I close my usual time, I cleared up my desk and headed home.
Jack called me earlier that they were back from the market, he also informed me how Sonia’s friend did not allow Sonia to shop many things for herself, she was just packing stuffs that fitted her own body like it was her they brou-ght out for shopping.
It didn’t annoy me one beat, if she allowed her friend to push her over, then it’s her choice not mine
I got home and Bobo came to greet me at the parking lot
BOBO
good evening JJ, welcome back
JOSHUA
Bobo, how are you?
BOBO
I’m fine, how was work? you are glowing this evening, what’s the secret.
I chuckled, was that how excited I looked? that everyone that sees me knows I’m happy?
JOSHUA
I’m glowing because I’m happy tonight Bobo.
BOBO
(He clapped his hands)
I knew it…. whenever you are happy, we are equally happy too….
JOSHUA
thank you…. I will be inside.
I walked into my ma-ssive living room, to my surprise I was welcomed with a nice aroma of meat… I dropped my briefcase and headed to the kitchen…. Sonia and her friend were there cooking, Sonia had change into one of the dress I guess she bought… I cleared my throat making them realize I was standing there’s

JOSHUA’S POV CONTINUES
I cleared my throat so they would know I was standing behind them.
Sonia was the first to turn back to look at me, she immediately dropped what she had in her hand.
SONIA
Good evening JJ, how was your day?
I smiled, not because of the greeting though, it was her ability to adapt fast that made me smile… it was just yesterday that I told her to address me as JJ and she’s already good at it.
JOUSHA
How are you?
Her friend too turn and greeted me with a warning smile on her face.
JOSHUA
you are still here, what’s that your name again?
MERCY
my name is mercy
JOSHUA
all right….. Sonia I told you not to border that I will do the cooking….why are…..
SONIA
I’m not cooking, I decided to help you boil the stocks so when you come it will be easier for you.
JOSHUA
oh okay, that’s thoughtful of you… I will just go inside and change into something else then come right back.
I turn and headed for the stairs, half way to the stairs I suddenly remembered what Sonia told me before I left the house that money
“good luck, good out there and make plenty money”
I couldn’t remember it details for details but I remembered her saying I should go out there and make plenty money… could it be that her positive word is what got me that contact I have been chasing for a year?
I waved it aside and went into my room, for some reason I wasn’t comfortable with her friend being around, but since I’m treating all my staffs to dinner I will just let her stay one more day at my house….. tomorrow I will ask her to leave
I took my bathe and changed into something simple, I went downstairs to start cooking.
As we were cooking, Sonia a-ssisted me the best way she could while her friend almost tire my clothes with her eyes which made it very uncomfortable for me to breath in my own house.
finally dinner was ready and guest were already coming, soon the house was filled with all the faces I recognize, some didn’t come I wonder why though, Amanda was just smiling from ear to ear like she won a lottery.
I asked Sonia to serve the food at the dinning while I rush upstairs to take my bath again, I was all sweaty due to the heat in the kitchen
I excused myself and went inside to freshen up, I was still in my room when I heard a knock.
JOSHUA
who is there? you can come in, the door is open.
The door handle pulled and Jack popped out his face.
JACK
good evening boss
JOSHUA
were have you being?
JACK
I was sleeping in the security quarters
JOSHUA
oh okay, so are you ready for the dinner?
JACK
you bet … I will be waiting for you downstairs.
JOSHUA
before then, I want to have a word with you.
JACK
alright, what is it boss?
JOSHUA
Sonia’s friend, what do you think of her? you are a good judge of character and that’s why I made you the head of all my worker, tell me exactly what you think or feel about her without leaving anything out.
JACK
I’m surprised that we are discussing about someone who isn’t working for you, well, I’m glad you brou-ght the discussion up, I was planning to discuss the same thing with you after the dinner party.
JOSHUA
really? then let’s talk about it now… grab that chair.
He grabbed the chair in front of my mirror and moved closer to the bed.
JACK
judging from what I saw today, mercy is a desperate, she’s someone that can do anything to get what she want without minding if someone else is getting hurt in the process… Sonia was the one who needed to be shopped for, but she took the whole shopping upon herself, she bought so many things that I had to use my own money to buy a few for sonia after we ran out of cash…. I was very pissed that Sonia kept her cool even after seeing the way her friend was treating her unfairly…. the way she was commanding like she was the boss, no no she’s a zero for me…. if I didn’t have someone I love I wouldn’t think of someone like her as a woman…. she’s too desperate for my liking.
I listening attentively to all jack said, sometimes we judge people without knowing them….but do you think sometimes we are wrong with the judging? for example jack just stated all he felt about mercy, do you think he has judged her wrongly? well, his not God and there’s a little chance that he might have being wrong with his conclusion about her…. but I have seen her for myself too and she’s too forward.
JACK
you employed Sonia here, not the both of them, so why is her friend still here? to me I feel they won’t be any peace in this house if you allow her to stay….. who does that self? when its not beans cake that you buy and they add Jara for you…. send that girl away boss, she smells trouble.
JOUSHA
I already thought about it too, by tomorrow I will ask her to leave… I didn’t employ the both of them.
JACK
you don’t have to stress yourself doing thing like that when I’m here….. i will do that for you…. your guest are waiting downstairs.
Like the person outside could hear what jack was saying a knock came to the door.. jack got up to check who it was…..
It was Amanda who was knocking.
AMANDA
what are you doing boss, we are starving
(she said smiling)
JOSHUA
sorry about that, tell them I will be out in a few minutes.
AMANDA
alright, please be fast.
she said and left my room, jack too followed her outside.
SONIA’S POV
whoever that told you money isn’t good, do me a big favor, give the person a knock on the head….. money is indeed good, in fact money is the most sweetest.
Look at all the people that came to this party, they were all looking expensive and smelling nice, I know some of them were as broke as I am and were only packaging but they still look like rich people… some of them were truly rich though.
Like the one that was always smiling with boss, I think I heard him call her Mandy …. Mandy didn’t just smell expensive, she smelled rich too…. she’s tall, se-xy and very pretty… with the way she was just around Joshua I even thought they were dating.
I wanted to go to my room after serving the food but Joshua stopped me.
JOSHUA
you are part of my staffs too, so you deserve a table here.
SONIA
it’s fine sir, I can eat later, beside it’s just one chair left….. jack should occu-py it.
JACK
it’s fine…. you can…
He was still saying when my over busy body friend just pulled the chair backwards and sat on it and pulled it closer to the table.
MERCY
since they both of them ain’t sure on who to seat on it, maybe I should settle the argument.
Some people laughed at her dry joke while some just stare at her like a crazy person.
