EPISODE 15
SONIA’S POV
Four days later JJ came back to the house, I welcomed him so warmly but he replied coldly…. what could be wrong? did he have a fight with his girlfriend or what? he didn’t look like someone who had lot of fun with his woman.
He went into his room and didn’t come out the rest of that day…. it was from Jack I heard the news…. he told me he had an issue with his woman.
That got me surprised, someone you didn’t see for a long time, what could have caused their fight?
I knew jack wouldn’t tell me even if I asked so I didn’t border to ask him what caused their querrel.
The next day he came out from his room and demanded for food…. I served him his breakfast, he ate and went back inside to dress for work.
JOSHUA
How about you cook me something spicy later tonight
SONIA
of course sir, whatever you want
JOSHUA
I want snail, the big ones, make sure it’s well spice okay
SONIA
all right, what do you want it with?
JOSHUA
white rice please….and I want some oranges jui-ce but if you don’t know how to make it, you can ask Jack to show you.
SONIA
okay…. sir sorry to ask, are you alright? you don’t look okay to me…. is everything okay?
JOSHUA
everything is okay…. I’m going to work.
SONIA
have a great day, make sure you win and make plenty of money.
He nodded his head and left…. I went back into the kitchen to continue with my cleaning.
JOSHUA’S POV
The first time sonia told me to out there and win, I didn’t even get to my office before I was awarded a contract worry millions of dollars.
When I was leaving the house this morning, she said same thing to me yet I still did not take it seriously… I mean why is she even telling me something like that?
I started to give little attention to her word after I got to the office and Amanda told me another contract was up and the manager was asking that we send our proposal so he can sign.
It was funny because usually, we are the ones that hustle for the information before we start preparing to submit our proposal but this time around the company was the one asking for our proposal.
the money was worth something too, but it’s not something big that I had to waste my time on…. I told Amanda to work with Jide so they could come up with a good plan and submit.
During lunch hour she sent me the plan they had come up with, one reason why I don’t joke with Amanda, she’s very competent and smart…. I went throu-ghthe proposal, it was nice so I asked her to send it via email which she did.
Before the end up day she came and knocked at my office, she had this big grin all over her face
JOSHUA
this one you are smiling like this, did you win a lottery?
AMANDA
(She took her seat)
show me that papa wey dey do this jazz for you na…. the papa Sabi work well well ooh
JOSHUA
(I was confuse)
how do you mean?
AMANDA
the contract has been approved boss.
(she said happily)
JOSHUA
so fast? are you sure this people ain’t online fraudster? I mean who approvs a business proposal without take a week to go throu-ghit to be sure?
AMANDA
that’s why I said your charm is really working, you know that manager has being my friend for a while now… he called me personal to ask us to send in our proposal…. he even told me that the proposal was just formalities.
JOSHUA
I’m surprise…. well congratulations to us then
AMANDA
yeah, more wins to us….and if this continues for a while, I promise we will become the biggest in Africa.
JOSHUA
(I smiled)
where will you keep the likes of dangote? stop going ahead of yourself…. once again congratulations for winning this to the company…its closing hours, I need to start going.
AMANDA
Do you have plans for tonight? I wanted to invite you to a dinner at my place.
I didn’t have any plans before leaving the house, I mean not after the heated argument I had with Anderson.
This is Africa, not like in the western world where they behave they want to, that even being a fay isn’t a crime….. coming out to the world about my s-ex uality would only ruin my career, no one would like to work with my brand because they will see me as curse person.
All I ask for is just a little bit of time, that’s why I’m working really ha-rd to be the number one in this market…. that’s why I’m doing everything within my powers to beat other companies …I want to be at the point where I won’t he scared of losing my name, my company because I already earn my position in the world.
We have thousand of ga-y walking among us, some are even married to woman just so they won’t be out in a ti-ght Conner… only few have the boldness to come out as ga-y which they don’t even admit to it directly.
So why can’t Anderson be patient with me? why can’t he give me a little time to reach my goal then show him to the world?
He just wants me to introduce him to everyone, even to my staffs as the person I’m in love with… he thinks I’m ashamed of him, why in God’s name will I be ashamed of the person that means the world to me? love isn’t supposed to be selfish, all he cares about is himself, he doesn’t care about what comes after if I eventually come out to tell the world I’m ga-y .
It was Amanda’s touch that brou-ght me back to reality
JOSHUA
sorry, you were saying?
AMANDA
I was asking if you will be chance to….
JOSHUA
I’m sorry,I won’t be free, I’m going to meet with my boyfriend….. I’m so sorry
I apologized, picked my phones and walked to the door, I turn back to see how shock she looked……. it’s high time the world knows about my s-ex uality, I love Anderson so much, if that is what will make him happy then I will tell everyone who cares to listen that I’m ga-y and Anderson is the one for me.
AMANDA’S POV
I couldn’t believe my ears, in fact the love I have for Joshua didn’t let me believe what he told me…. maybe he might have noticed my feelings and the only way he could tell me to back off was by lying that he likes men instead of women.
I tried to accept that fact but I just couldn’t swallow what I have just heard so I locked his office, cleared my desk and went home…. all throu-ghI kept thinking of what he told me “I’m going to meet my boyfriend” the look in his eyes said it all but why is it difficult for me to believe something like that?
I suddenly thought about jack, jack is the closest to Joshua…there was no way he didn’t know about this.

JACK’S POV
I didn’t know which one to go with, was it a good idea that he had to keep his s-ex life private all this years? or was it good that he has started to open up to people about his s-ex uality?
I was surprised when Amanda called me over to her house only to ask me if I was ga-y
JACK
what? what kind of a ridiculous question is that!
AMANDA
you are the closest to JJ, you guys some times travel together, so forgive me if I want to know if you guys are ga-y
JACK
I’m not a ga-y , I like women, beautiful and curvey women…. you get that.
AMANDA
And JJ? who does he like? does he also like women? or his into men?
Her question took me aback, why would she ask me such a question all of a sudden? did JJ tell her something? if he did why didn’t he tell me so I would know how to defend him.
JACK
have you ever seen JJ with any man before? all he cares about is work, work and work… it was only once at the club that he had a one night stand with a lady, she was so beautiful that he couldn’t look away.
(I lied)
There was no way I was going to let that secret out, coming out in the open to say “I’m ga-y ” in Nigeria is like saying I don’t want to achieve my goal or dreams anymore.
Right now JJ is just lost and I’m still looking for a way to make him see that what his doing is totally wrong.
AMANDA
Are you serious? But he told me that …..
JACK
He told you what?
AMANDA
forget about it, it doesn’t matter what I thought it was… I’m glad you cleared my doubt.
JACK
did JJ tell you he likes men?
AMANDA
No, he didn’t… should I get you something to eat?
JACK
I need to go home, joy has been calling me since noon
AMANDA
you say it like I’m supposed to know her.
JACK
sorry, joy is my babe
AMANDA
oh I see…. you should run home then.
JACK
yeah…. see you tomorrow
AMANDA
yeah, bye.
she saw me off to the door and went back inside.
Immediately I drove out of her compound I called JJ to tell him what Amanda had just asked me
JOSHUA
I actually hinted her about it
JACK
you what? why would you do something like that? why would you tell her you are ga-y ?
JOSHUA
the lady keeps coming at me jack, and Anderson keeps getting mad that I don’t love him….I’m really trying to come out in the open.
I was shocked, very shocked, what has this Anderson of a guy given to JJ that he could no longer reason with his brains
JACK
Where are you right now?
JOSHUA
I’m at Anderson’s place, his not around so I’m waiting for him.
JACK
tell me where that place is, I’m coming to meet with you.
JOSHUA
No need, I know what you are coming to say Jack, I already made up my mind and nobody can make me change it.
JACK
I’m not coming there to make you change your mind, I’m coming there to keep you company until Anderson returns
JOSHUA
(He chuckled)
don’t worry jack…. I’m hanging up now.
Before I could even say Jack he already hung up….I had no choice but to drive home.
Joy was already waiting for me outside house…. I came down and meet her, she hug-ged me briefly and held my hands
JOY
baby, you know I didn’t mean what I said this morning…. it was just a figure of speech and nothing more.
JACK
I’m sorry too baby, I didn’t mean to snap at you I was just angry this morning
JOY
(she ki-ss ed my cheeks)
I love you so much, and I really don’t care if you are the boss or the employee…. I knew that and still acceptedto date you.
JACK
I love you too…. let’s go inside, it’s getting cold out here.
I interlock my hand with hers and we went inside, she had already prepare my favorite… we sat at the dinning to eat
JOY
so babe, why were you angry this morning after talking eih your boss?
JACK
it’s nothing baby,…. my love this is good
(I said mooching a full spoon of food)

SONIA POV
I had this strong feeling that everything was not okay with JJ but who was I to meddle in his business? he already warned me that he doesn’t like people who poke nose in other people’s business.
If I want to stay in peace in his house, I will learn the limit to cross and which not to cross.
He didn’t come back after work, I was worried but there was no means for me to get accross to him…. like jack could read my throu-ghmy worries he called me later and told me not to wait up for JJ that he wasn’t sure if he was going to come back home.
I packed up his food in the fridge and went inside to sleep.
The next morning I woke up and started daily work….. around 9am I decided to turn on the living room TV, so I could hear some news…. but I saw was shocking, JJ was all over the TV, different channels were talking about him…at first I thought maybe he had just won something big until I increa-sed the volume of the TV…
JJ is ga-y ? what kind of a blaster lie is that? were they trying to frame him for something he didn’t do or what?
He isn’t my brother, or even my husband but I was scared for him, I know what it would do to his life and career.
I didn’t know who to meet to confirm if for me, and Jack had not come to work yet… I ran to Bobo
BOBO
with the level of speed you use to come here, I’m guessing you saw the news too
SONIA
I just saw our boss on the TV ki-ss ing a man….what’s going on?
BOBO
exactly what you see Sonia, you heard it from the horses mouth… he said his a ga-y .
SONIA
holy Mary, mother of Jesus….. his a ga-y ?
BOBO
He should have kept it hidden like he has done all this years that no one was aware…. coming out now that his already a public figure…..it would ruin his career…. just imagine, he posted this video last night with his lover and it’s already on television….
Like I told you when introducing myself, I told you guys that what I do best is mind my business…. I can even receive an award for it…. I was in no position to judge anyone, for all I know I’m the who killed my parents with my evil and mean mouth.
I slowly went back inside, everyone has a reason for doing something…. JJ is no different from the rest of us… he just have a reason for being a ga-y too.. all we need to do is give him a listening ear.
