✒Victor’s PO V

Indeed!

It was a night to remember.
I fell on Yomi’s be-d as I got to my room. Smiling all alone. I just couldn’t st©p thinking about the awesome night I had with Suzy.
Have you ever met with a crazy girl that drives you lovingly crazy. God! She drives me nut anytime I’m around her. I just don’t know what’s about her that makes me enjoy being with her all the time? First, she knows how to drive that beast in me laughing like a little boy.

I bur-st into another fit of laughter, laughing all alone. Yomi was watching, and I knew my cousin won’t take much time before asking how it went. I turned to the other side of the be-d away from him so I could enjoy the little memory I had with Suzy before slee-ping. Starting with the picture of an angelic face I saw on Dad’s desk. The girl that won a scholarsh!pinto Crown School. The brilliant, innocent girl with a beautiful face.

Who would have thought that innocent girl could drive me wild with that plumpl-ips of hers. Every word that comes out of that mouth makes me smile and laugh wild. When I heard she was leaving so soon, I was so troubled that I won’t get to spend more time with her. This term was really fun and interesting. It has always been with the boys, but this time, I had an experience being friend with a n@ûghty girl like Suzy. Not just any girl I could chat with, and not those girls that f0rç£ themselves on me. But someone I was free with.

What I saw between her and Betty worries me. Suzy was kind of ma-king her jealous. She wasn’t even my girlfriend, so I wonder why she was doing that to Betty.

Betty was my first girlfriend, and that was last year during my ss2 period. We were both sixteen then, and we got along so great. If any guy ever get a thing for slim girls, Betty is the one to go for. Slim, tall, fair with an oval face, and indeed beautiful!
I won’t say she was more pretty than Suzy, because seeing Suzy from afar, she’s the true definition of natural beauty. And that beautiful smile of hers that awaken my big heart. A set of white teeth displ@ywhenever I look at any of her picture I took. My smiling babe. Nice stature any guy could go for, but still, I was just getting to know who Suzy James really is.

Betty is very emotional. Though most of the girls are, but hers is more than emotional. She cries over small things which was one of the reasons I couldn’t go on with the relationsh!p, and we agreed being friends. We might not be together. Still, I care for her a lot. I’ve known her before I met Suzy, and I know no matter what, she means a lot to me.

I met with Yomi, and Festus who told me Suzy heard everything Betty and I discussed. Actually, I didn’t want anything to affect our friendsh!p, because whatever Betty and I had together was in the past. One thing I like about Betty was that, she cares, and very loving. After several calls, I knew she was angry with me, so I decided to text Victoria since they were together. To my surprise, when she finally picked, there was no question pertaining to what she heard between Betty and I.
I wasn’t expecting to enjoy her company that night, but I did. She was full of fun, all smiling, teasing me and with that, I’m always comfortable smiling and laughing when I’m with her. I was going to miss her, miss her craziness, miss the one and only Suzy that bur-st my br@in. The only glutton that mix three food together, and still trying to manage it.

Hahaha….

That was Suzy James!

Talking to her for the first time when she was trying to get to her clas-s was like yesterday. I was shy because I never made the first move with girls. Betty and I just happened to like each other, and we talked about d@t!ng. So approaching girls wasn’t my type of thing. All thanks to Victoria who taught me the trick. I guess I was a very good teaser too, because Suzy happened to enjoy my company. Victoria Stephen is a sister I think every brother could ask for. Any guy that mess with her would have to deal with me.

“Mhen!! Suzy really deserve an award for taming the mighty Victor. My God! You’ve been blu-shing since bro!” Never knew Yomi’s head was hanging in the air at my direction. I kicked him away from me, and sat straight on his be-d.

“What’s there Yomi? Was only smiling. Is smiling now a crime?”
He shook his head and laughed, standing straight on his feet. “Cousin, it’s very obvious you’re crazy for that babe. You know this is a testimony. You finally have interest in a girl.”
I kicked him again
“Awww,” he murmured and I laughed.
My definition of a good trouble maker. He never mind his business.
Giving him my serious face.

“If you say so. But don’t think that I’m asking her out. I just nee-d a friend, and she’s perfect for that.”

“br@vo!” He cl@pped his hands. “I know you Victor. Don’t fv¢k this up. I like her too.”

“Huh!” I made a face at him to have him repeat what he just said.
He laughed. “Haba! Victor don’t kill me raw. I mean I like her for you. I was expecting her to flare up when we saw her there, but she was looking fine like she heard nothing, and told us to return your phone to you.”
I nodded at what Yomi said. I agreed with him. Was expecting that too. I got up from his be-d, over to my corner and settled down.

“Time to sleep.” I shouted.

“We will continue this tomorrow. Whether time to sleep or off to be-d. You owe me more gist cousin.”
Taking off my T-shi-t, I turned to his corner. “I’ve got nothing more to gist about. Enjoy the ones have told you for now.”
I heard him laugh. “Mad boy, just be careful. Before you know it.. Hmm… I reserve my comment.” He win-ked at me. “Would share your gist with Festus tomorrow. He waited but he’s asleep alre-ady.

I took off my trou-sers too, and went to be-d in my bo-xer. But not before s£nding Suzy a good night message.

✒Suzy POV✔

With Victor, last night was fun!

We had so much talk together before we both left for our hostel. I forgot about the beautiful BB. All thanks to Victoria. If not for her, I might still be fighting with Victor over silly things. It was a silly thing to do. Yesterday night with Victor Stephen would be one of the days I can never forget.

Packing out my things to the corridor, as the girls helped me with it. Dad and Mom are alre-ady waiting. I really don’t know why Dad was in a hurry. He didn’t even wait till 12:00pm to come pick me. Checking my phone, it says, 10:42am.

“Wish your Dad would just tell you he has another emergency to attend to.” Kunmi said.

I laughed a bit. Not too loud. I guess not today, because my Pop man was out there waiting for me and my books to load inside his car straight away to Abuja.

“You’re actually joking with that Kunmi. Both my Mom and Dad are out there alre-ady. And that says, it’s time. Another emergency is surely coming next term that I would get to spend the three days fully with you guys.” I told her. I walked very fast straight to the hall. Don’t want Dad to get angry that I took his time. My phone Vibr@ted and I saw a message from Victor. I didn’t check it because replying his message would take time.
We finally got to the hall. Both Mom and Dad was there, including the house mistress. A big cheery smile was plastered on mom’s face as she saw me. I ran to her and hvgged her.
“Mom, I miss you.” I was by her side holding her.
“We miss you too dear. I couldn’t wait to see you. My baby is just getting bigger and bigger.”
I saw the girls smiled at my mom’s reaction when she saw me. And the way two of us was conversing. I introduced the girls to Mom. Gladly, she greeted Kunmi, Victoria, Temi and Debbie. While Dad also made his greetings formal. I dropped my things at the back of the car, climbing inside.

“Thank you so much girls.” Mom said throu-gh the window. They waved at me, and I waved back too.

“Bye..” They chorused.

I threw them a k!ssand shouted, ‘love you guys’ as the car moved. I saw them still waving, and I couldn’t st©p looking back. I was going to miss them. A lot. It was fun. Had so much fun with the girls and most especially my n@ûghty, crazy s£nior. I was glad I was given a scholarsh!pto come school in Crown school. My first term in Crown School was superb! Fun! And amazing. In fact, fantastic!

Getting to Abuja was so stressful.

I wasn’t the one driving yet I felt so tired. All I did was eat, sleep, and eat. I sometimes wish Dad let me travel during the holidays but no, he never re-leased his daughter. You’re to spend your holidays re-ading, and getting re-ady for the next term. To be candid, Dad made me love books. If not for Dad, I won’t take re-ading an important thing to do, cause some of my mates in school don’t re-ad.

For some days, victor didn’t let me sleep with his text messages. Before you know it, his message has entered. Because I didn’t want Mom and Dad to suspect anything, the day I left Crown
school was the day I changed my auto profile to silent.

I enjoy re-ading his silly text messages because each time I re-ad it, I couldn’t help but smile and laugh if necessary. My result haven’t been s£nd to me, but I prayed almost all the time not to fail any subject, because if I should, I should get re-ady to face Dad’s wrath.
I sat down at my usual place at the dinning table eating my lunch. Mom was busy re-ading the ‘Christian women mirror magazine’. Suddenly, the door bur-st open, and my Dad stormed in, looking very furious. He turned to me, and immediately, I looked down. I always wonder how Mom cope sometimes.

“Suzy!” My name was called in an angry tone.

“Yes Daddy.” I replied innocently.

“Go in and bring all your textbooks. I want to see it,” he said. I could see Mom alre-ady on her feet staring at Dad with the look of, ‘easy dear’. Mom knows how to always calm him down.
“And your phone! Bring it down here!” I heard him shouted.

I wondered what he wanted to use my phone for. I wasn’t expecting him back because he spend three to five days whenever he travels. But he c@m£ back after two days of leaving. It surprised Mom and I.

As I got to him, he collected my phone and immediately he switched it off. “Now listen,” he said in a command tone. “You’re not allowed to go out with your friends during these holidays.” He raised his brow at me. “When did you start getting c6 (pas-s) in further maths? Tell me?”

I couldn’t look up at him. I was looking down as he talked. I don’t like Dad getting angry at me, because he would have his eyes on me and I wouldn’t be free.
“Starting from tomorrow,” he continued, “I will get you a teacher who will take you further maths. And better start re-ading your books. You have just three weeks. Are we clear?”
As usual…

“Yes Sir.”

He walked away with his bag. Actually, I thought I had D7 at first. Truly, I did failed. I’ve never had Straight ‘A’ (excellent) in my further maths, but the ‘B’ (very good) is punctual. That was what I had during my ss1 in my former school at Golden college.
But Kunmi told me my result would be s£nt to me. Oh! I saw Dad holding a small book with him. He must have collected my report card. Of course! He has it with him. Isn’t that why he confronted me about my poor grade in further maths.

“Suzy eat your food. Your Dad is just like that because he loves you. Remember that he gave birth to you. So have it at the back of your mind that whatever he does to you, he’s doing it for himself. Just like the scholarsh!pyou won, made him very proud of you.” Mom smiled at me.
She knows how to calm you down with her words.
That’s my Mom.

“Yes Mom, thanks.” I murmured.

“Or do you want Mommy to feed you?”

I laughed. “Mom st©p treating me like a baby.”

“But that’s what you’re to me.”

“I’m grown up Mom. If you actually want a baby, discuss that with Dad. I nee-d one t-”

“And what exactly do you want your Mom to discuss with me?”
Dad interrupted, and I quic-kly shut up.
Mom laughed at me, and I knew she would cover for me.
“She’s just discussing about you hiring a physics teacher for her.”
Ehnnnn! Yehhhh! Mom have killed me.

Physics teacher khe !

Not again!

I wish I could talk at that p@rticular time.

“Wow!” I could see Dad’s mood has changed to a happy one. He looked plea-sed hearing that from mom. “That’s good. I never thought of that. Would find you someone who can also take you physics.”

“But Daddy don-”

“May be I should hire a chemistry teacher too.”

Ehnnnn….

Nonononono…..

“No daddy,” I immediately replied. “Was just telling you the two is okay like that. Would re-ad chemistry on my own.”

“That’s good then.” He agreed. I got up and served his food, looking at Mom with one eye.
Mothers ehnnn!
They know the trick to add more oil to a burning
fire. The best way is don’t offend them.
Just don’t offend them.
She acted like she doesn’t see me, and she was smiling while re-ading her magazine. I love her so much. My Jewel. She means so much to me. No one can replace mothers love towards her child. And my Mom is no exception. I knew she was just trying to cover up for me, but she wasn’t as good as me.
•••••

I spent most of my time re-ading, working and calculating all day. The lesson really helped though. But the stress was too much. Too much as-signments to solve. God knows if Dad actually planned that with the two teachers, because the two almost killed me with as-signments.
Mom never bothered me about the dirty plates or dirty clothes. She washed everything herself, leaving me to re-ad and do my as-signments. Whenever Dad is not around, Mom’s phone was available and always do the work of browsing, because immediately Mom’s phone landed straight into my hands,
I never waste time at all. As I chat with the girls, I chat with my n@ûghty s£nior. There wasn’t much time, but the little time saved me from bored moments.

Since I didn’t have my phone with me, Dad was not giving me money for recharge card. I pity Mom because, I was the one using all her credit, and you will hear her complain that, ‘Suzy this mtn people are just removing my money anyhow. The two hundred naira recharge card has finished so quic-k’. And immediately, she would s£nd me another one. I always keep my mouth shut whenever she complains. The words you will hear me say is, ‘this Mtn people have come again’.

Hahaha…

I decided to tease Victor online to s£nd me credit, and to my surprise, he s£nt three thousand naira credit. Was only expecting one thousand naira credit, but the amount he s£nt surprised me. I subscribe with one thousand and left the remaining on Mom’s phone. For a week, she called, and called and the only thing I saw on her face whenever she finished calling was a big smile follow by, “Ehhhh.. So Mtn can do awuuf after taken all my money.”

I always try not to laugh, but I couldn’t st©p myself
from smiling.
I would just smile at her and reply with, ‘Mummy, Mummy, I will call too o.’

“Just let us finish it before they deduct all the money.” Is the song she kept on shouting for almost two weeks.

••••
About a week to resume back to school. I got down as I followed Mom and Dad into the church. I was going to see some of my old friends who we all went to Golden school, which was my former school. As I walked into the church, I saw Ephraim at the choir stand, who saw me too, and quic-kly waved at me. Bisola stood at the entrance, and I just smiled
Madam usher!

Those people are trying ehnn! Well, it’s just for 3hours. From 6:00am to 9:00am. Good to work for God. I glanced around to search for Bose, who was also my school mate then. But it seems she was not yet back from her holidays as usual. I guarantee she’s spending a week more before coming down to Abuja. I danced during the praise and worsh!p, lifting up my voice to God. And I trust Mom too, to dance and shake her w@!st unto God. She never miss praise and worsh!pfor anything. When I looked over to her seat, I smiled seeing her dancing so well. I was so much proud of her.

When it comes to sermon, count me out. Was busy dozing when the pastor was preaching. When I heard ‘if you know you want Jesus to bless you this week, stand up and shout seven hallelujah!’ One time, I was on my feet to claim my blessings. I don’t joke with prayers, because whenever I pray, God do answer me in a miraculously way.

“God is good.” The pastor said.

“All the time.” The members of the church chorused.
Indeed!

All the time, the Lord is good.

After the service was over, Ephraim and Bisola c@m£ to me. I was re-ady for Bisola, because she can kill someone with questions.
“Suzy!” She hvgged me ti-ghtly. “Wow! Suzy you’re getting fat.” She was holding my two arms. “You’re getting fat o.” She repeated as if I didn’t hear what she said at first. “What food are they giving you there?” She asked, and I bur-st out laughing.
“It’s normal food na..”
“No, tell me.” She persisted.
I was laughing because I was going to add a small lie to it.
“Hmm..we take, rice, spaghetti, chicken, turkey, vegetables, pounded yam. Different types of food… And shawarma.” I dropped the bomb to see her reaction, and immediately she shouted.
“You guys eat shawarma?” She was surprised.
I enjoyed the reaction I got from the look she gave me, and laughed a bit before telling the truth.

“Was just joking.” I confessed.

She laughed with me. “Suzy you’re not serious. But seriously, I haven’t tasted that thing before.”

“Same here.” I wondered what was so special about the thing.
“When are you going back?” Ephraim asked with his thick, loud voice. Maturity is something I couldn’t find a word to describe. I remember the crying, crying Ephraim in junior school, who was now forming big boy. Indeed! Maturity changes a lot.
“This Saturday, I guess. You guys might not see me in church.”
“You’re so lucky Suzy. I know you would have made new friends over there.”
I smiled as I remember Victor.

How come it was him I remembered first. Guess I couldn’t wait to resume back to school. I’ve missed the girls so much too. I really could not wait for school to resume.
“Yes Ephraim.” I s£nt him a warm smile. “Just that these friends of mine are n@ûghty, especially one of them. Too n@ûghty would be fine.”
He laughed. “Just like you are. p@rtner meet p@rtner I guess.”
I smiled. Not Victor.

“Everyone missed you a lot. And Mr. Banjo still uses you as an example in the clas-s.”
I laughed. That man! Any example, it was Suzy James.

“And precious, is she back?” I asked Ephraim about my one close friend in the clas-s who travelled to north, and we all couldn’t reach her since then.

“No, but I heard she would be back soon.”
I’ve missed her so much.

“Suzy, your Dad is about to leave.” I heard Mom’s voice a bit far behind me. It was time to leave, so I bade them goodbye and left.

Just seven days left to resume back to Crown School.
I couldn’t remember counting days when in Golden College.

I guess a lot has changed.
