Finally got back to my sister’s place. Immediately I drove into the compound, and was about getting down, I heard my niece shouting.

“Aunty Suzy,”

“Daddy is Big Aunty”

Just as I stepped out of the car, she jumped on my tired, and stressed b©dy happily. I did what every sister would have done. I bent down and lifted her up. Immediately, she hvgged my n£¢k. “Aunty Suzy, I miss you so much. Mommy told me you travelled, and I’ve been begging her to let us come and see you.”
I managed to smile, knowing that was one of sister’s lies to her baby girl. “So, where did I go to?”
She showed her set of white teeth at me. “To London. Mommy said you will bring me plenty clothes.”

I finally laughed. Love would be expecting me to bring out clothes now. Saving one trouble, to get me into another one. “Our clothes is still inside the plane. They will bring it for us.”
She squealed, ma-king me to smile at her exciting face. We both went inside, and I saw my sister’s husband sat on the couch with his l@pt©p on his l@ps.

“Daddy, Aunty Suzy,” she called out. He raised his head, and smile at us. “Blessing told me about your friend. Hope he’s getting better?”

I nodded. “He’s doing well alre-ady.”

“That’s good,” he said.

“What about sister Blessing?”

“Mommy is inside the kitchen.” Love answered instead, and we both carried ourselves to the kitchen. “Mommy, Aunty Suzy,” she shouted again. I couldn’t help but laugh. Everyone she sees,
see Aunty Suzy.

I knew she was happy, but Love sometimes act so funny. I dropped her to free my not too strong bones.

Sister Blessing smiled tiredly at me. “Welcome. Immediately you called, I’ve entered the kitchen to prepare rice for you, cause I know you will be very hungry. The stew is almost re-ady,” she looked tired, and weak, yet she still c@m£ here to prepare food for me. “And how is he doing?”

“Very fine. We talked,” I told her.

“Praise God. He’s talking alre-ady. That’s so good. Go and shower before the stew is re-ady.” She pushed her heavy b©dy from the stool she was sitting on. “plea-se pas-s me the fish on the fridge,” she said, and I got it for her.

“Love,” my sister raised her voice a bit to call her daughter, as I walked out of the kitchen to go to my room. “Leave Aunty Suzy, and let her relax o. She’s so tired, and nee-d rest.” I heard my sister saying, but the little girl she was talking to was still clinging on my b©dy as I walked to my room.

I searched my bag, and brou-ght out the bobo in my bag. She was happy and immediately ran to her Mommy. It’s always her habit to show her Mom anything given to her before she eats it, which is good. Of course, she doesn’t do that at first. But when she couldn’t keep getting a knock on her head, she decided to wake up, and do just what her mom told her. Sometimes, one nee-ds to take action on children, to let them know we are serious about what we tell them to do, and not to do.
Before I could finish changing into another clothes, my sister had dished the rice and stew for me, along with a table, which she dropped and put my food on, with a bottle of cold water. “Eat before it gets cold. Then we can talk.”

Not wasting anytime, I started eating, and we were talking at the time, not waiting for me to finish eating any more. I pushed the plate aside after I was done.
“So, hope you’ve finally gotten everything your baby nee-ds re-ady?”
“Yes,” she nodded. “I just have three weeks left.”
“Wow!” I smile happily at her. “Congratulations ma. Another baby girl coming.”
She laughed, finally out of her weary look . “You and I know that it’s a boy.”
I chuckled, knowing I was teasing her. “You know there is nothing God cannot do. You can just get there, and after your first baby, you will be surprise when the doctor says, madam the second baby is coming, and the third one too.”
“Ahhh!” My sister shouted, and laughed. “Three at a time. You don’t want me to enjoy that thing anymore.”
I laughed, knowing what she meant by that. “Get your family planning and keep enjoying your thing. Nob©dy is holding it.”
She laughed. “You doctors will not tell us that it’s not hundred percent safe o. My friend, Lola who wanted her daughter to be five before she gets pregnant again, is now pregnant upon family planning.”
I laughed. “My sister that her husband thing is too strong niyen o. But it’s better you do it, to be on a safer side”
“Thank you, thank you. We’ve seen you madam Doctor.” She pushed my words away, and immediately got to her feet.
“We are still talking now,” I smiled at her, knowing she was trying to run away from our conversation.
“Abeg, pas-s me my daughter,” she said instead. I carried slee-ping Love instead to her room, while my sister left also.

Whenever I’m coming back from the hospital at my place of work, I made it a must to br@nch and check on Victor. He has improved, and I always encourage him to use the crutches given to him, so he could walk better, and soon he would be able to walk on his own again. I tried getting in t©uçh with Austin, but he wasn’t picking. Knowing when I could meet him if not at work, I decided to check on him.
Immediately after church, I drove my car to his place at Osborne estate. Quiet and peaceful as always, I parked my car at the front of his house, got down out of my car, and immediately I pressed on the little bell, his gateman c@m£ running to the gate. He recognized me, and immediately allowed me in.
“Is he around?”
“Yes ma,” he curtsied.
I made my way in, and as I was about to knock on his door, it was opened.
“Hi,” I greeted the lady standing before me.
“Hi Suzy,” Gabi replied with a smile. “How Is Victor doing?”
“He’s doing well.”
She smiled at me. “I’ve actually gone to check on him, but whenever you see him, plea-se s£nd my greetings to him.” Her phone rang. “Excuse me plea-se,” she picked up. “Hey baby I’m sorry, c@m£ to deliver something to my brother. On my way alre-ady,” she turned to me. “Have to go now. plea-se take care of yourself.” I had to turn my back, watching as she rushed out of the gate.

Couldn’t believe she has moved on so quic-kly. I felt something ru-bbing my leg, and I quic-kly turn to check, only to see a baby crawling to my side, and still tou-ching my leg. I carried the baby, though surprised what a baby was doing in Austin’s house.
“Who’s there? David!” A black in complexion lady appeared in a black trou-ser, and pink tank t©p.
“Oh, David,” she collected the baby from me. “Thank you miss. Is there someone you would like to see?” She asked politely.
“Yes,” I quic-kly replied. “Austin.”

I noticed she took another look at me, before she finally spoke up. “He’s on phone, but you can come in.” She ushered me in. When Austin saw me, he was surprised. “Suzy.”

“How you doing?” I said instead, still standing on my feet.

“Hmm…” He cleared his throat. “Tito plea-se excuse us,” he said, and gestured for me to sit. The name sounded so familiar, and I tried to remember where have heard the name.
Are you not Tito’s former b©yfri£nd

Yes!

It was then I wish I had looked at her very well. “So, you guys are back together?”
He shook his head. “Just the baby.”

“Have been trying to reach you, but you won’t pick up.”
He finally looked up at me. “I know you’re trying to put an end to what we have, but I didn’t want us to discuss that on phone, because I was also planning on talking to you too.”
“Well, I also wanted to discuss how we could meet. Never planning to say such throu-gh phone call.”
He smiled a little. He might have smiled, but it wasn’t a happy one. “I’m sorry for the way I treated you back then at the hospital. I hope he’s feeling better?” I didn’t reply immediately because I was surprised he asked after Victor. I just nodded, still curious why he didn’t want to accept Tito. Some guys would have gotten married for the sake of the child. “But why are you only taking the child?” I wanted to know.

He looked at me. “I know we are about to put an end to what we’ve shared, but Suzy I want you to always remember, and know that I will always love you no matter what. What I feel for you is stronger. I once loved her, but people change. Feelings change,” he paused. “Tito had gone throu-gh a lot without me, and I really do not want to make it complicated. I want to be sure if I’m re-ady for what I’m about to start with her or not.” He was being sincere.
I smiled at him. “I’m really proud of you Austin.” I love the fact that he was trying to be there for his son, and be a responsible father.
“I know I can’t compare myself to him,” Austin continued. “He’s been around before me. He has won your heart alre-ady, and I hope he treats you well.” I got up too, my eyes starting to get we-t with tears. I feel bad for him, but I nee-ded to do it, and I was glad he handled it in a very easy way for me.
“I hope I can still say hi whenever I come to visit at your hospital.”
I smiled, feeling bad, knowing he was hurt, and every single word he said tasted bitter in his mouth. Austin loves me. I know he really do. But I wish he finds someone who will love him more. No matter how I f0rç£ my heart to, it has chos£n someone else, and the only thing I know is I love this person, and I want to spend the rest of my life with him.

“Anytime,” I murmured. He hvgged me, and esc-rted me back to my car.

Finally, I realized what I just did. I broke up with Austin. As I got into my car, a tear I had been holding sli-pped down my face. I hope I didn’t make a mistake by breaking up with him.
I hope what I did will make things right.

I couldn’t help but think of my life with the guys I’ve d@t£d in the past. Austin was the third guy, and the guy I actually broke up with. In Canada, the first guy I d@t£d did nothing but treated me so well, that I thought he was the one, and I was able to forget about Victor. But as our relationsh!pkeeps growing, he started disturbing for S-x. I thought we made things clear, but I was wrong.

Vanessa told me there was nothing wrong, if I was sure I love him, and was the guy I would love to settle down with. Sincerely, I bought what Vanessa said then, because I actually believed I had gotten to my last bus t©p. He was just too perfect, and I never wanted to lose him.
But on that fateful day that I decided it was time, I never called him, trying to surprise him. But instead of that, I was the one who received a surprise. I used my personal key to enter, and I received the most outrageous surprise of all. Right there on his be-d, I saw him on t©p of the girl he calls his cousin. I couldn’t describe the headache that struck me. I thought he was the one, but I was wrong.
As much as I wanted to get back with him hoping things will work out again. Vanessa disagreed, and gave me many reasons not to. And to be sincere, I just st©pped thinking about him, and moved on with my life, but he never st©p disturbing me with calls, and messages.
And the second guy, George. He was nothing but a perfect definition for a husband. I learnt so much from him, because he was five years older than me. I was in my fifth year when I met him. He broke up with me because he was re-ady to settle down, and I was not. I knew my Dad would never allow such. I respected him so much, and today, he is happily married with kids.
Since then, I st©pped d@t!ng, and never thought of getting into a relationsh!pagain, until Mom and Dad told me they are expecting me to settle down. That was when I decided to give another guy a chance, but I was wrong, because as much as I say I love him, I wish I could see Victor Stephen again. I just hope things work out the way I planned.
••••

Been a month of staying, and checking on Victor. He could walk on his own, and I couldn’t help but so proud of him for his fast recovery. I told him about my break up in one of the conversation we had.

He stared at me after my confession. “Really,” he was still surprised. “Suzy did you do that for me?”
I nodded. “I want to give us a chance because I really do love you Victor. I’m just scared. I’m scared you won’t fight for our love and just leave me again.”

He wiped away the tear that rolled down my cheek. “Suzy, I love you so much. As much as I tried to move on, I couldn’t st©p thinking about you. You complete me. Only God knows, but you’ve captured this man completely.”
A smile appeared on myl-ips. He was teasing again.

“Hey, I’m not teasing you,” he k!$$£d myl-ips, and I found myself k!ss!nghim back. I couldn’t help myself. “I love you so much Suzy,” he said to me again.

The tears c@m£, followed by a big smile on my face. “I love you more s£nior Victor”
He laughed. “This s£nior thing again.” He always find it silly.
I couldn’t help laughing too. I love the smile that appear on his face whenever I call him that.

💊
Since then, things have been going well between Victor and I. He was going to be discharged, and I didn’t know if I could make it there because of my sister.
slee-ping after the su-ckling vigil she had been having with her baby. I placed the baby have been petting in his cot. He likes and enjoys being carried on the shoulder. I was careful so he won’t wake up. Have been working so ha-rd in these past three weeks. I was the one doing the washing whenever I’m around. Thank God for washing machine, it helps a lot.
“Sister Blessing,” I tapped her. It has been close to two hours she had sle-pt, but wakes up to feed her baby and sleep again.
“Sister Blessing,” I tapped her again. “I have to go, David is slee-ping alre-ady. Before I come back, the clothes might have dry. plea-se don’t forget to fetch them.”

“Okay, thanks dear,” she mumbled, and returned to sleep.
I really do not know why Victor insisted I make it to the hospital before he leaves. I’ve agreed we would see after he leaves the hospital, but he persisted on me coming. Hurriedly, I picked up my car key, and rushed out of the house. I knew I was late alre-ady. He was to leave in the morning, and it was getting to afternoon.

I just hope to meet him there.

✔Victor’s POV 💊

Almost getting to an hour, I was at the reception with my family, waiting. They were curious why I insisted we wait a little bit before we leave. Breathing heavily, the person I was waiting for, hurried in. “Oh.. I’m so sorry Victor. I c@m£ late. I thought you would have gone.” My whole family, including Dad who just c@m£ back was surprised, realizing the reason why were all waiting.
I got to my feet, from where I sat. I moved closer to her. She was putting on a black skinny jean, with peplum t©p made with Ankara. She was watching me, as I moved closer to her. Slowly I went down on one kneel.
Everyone pas-sing by st©pped. The nurses. The patients. And including my whole family was shocked, except Yomi and Victoria. Suzy’s smile was gone, replaced with an unexplainable shock.

“I’ve never done this for anyone in my life.” I finally opened up.
“But today, in front of my family, I chose to let them know that you’re the only woman I want to spend the rest of my life with. And every day of my life, I want to keep on loving you, k!ss!ngyou, c@r£ss!ngyou, and always there for you.” Her beautiful eyes gave birth to tears as they rolled down her cheeks.

“I love you Suzy. Is one thing I’m sure of. I know I’m not perfect, but for you, I know you’re re-ady to accept me with my flaws, and love me just for who I am. The moment I saw you, I knew I wanted to know you more, but I never knew I would love you this way, and be this intoxicated.” I paused to look up at her, and in a very fast manner, her tears increa-sed.

“Susan Layomi James. Will you make me the happiest man on earth and marry me?”

She closed her eyes, and allowed the tears she was holding onto to fall. She opened her mouth to talk, but closed it back, as more tears c@m£ running down. “I love you…” She looked down at me.
“Victor I love you so much. And why the hell will I say no, when the two hundred and six bones in my b©dy yearn for your t©uçh.”
This is when you have a Doctor as your wife.
I heard people around us laughed at Suzy’s reaction, and I couldn’t help smiling too.

“There is nothing more that I want than to be your wife, take care of you, and spend the rest of my life with you.”

“Will you marry me?” I said again getting everyone’s laughter. Guess they un-derstood that.

She laughed too, and nod her head. “Yes my crazy s£nior. I will marry you, and I promise to be the best wife ever!” She was too happy, ma-king everyone laughed at her reply. A smile appeared on my face too, as everyone cl@pped. I sli-pped the Gold ring into her left ring f!nger, and everyone cl@pped again.
She helped me up, and I caught her off guard by giving her a quic-k k!ss, which made her smile warmly at me, k!ss!ngme back.

“Wow!”

“Congrats”💞

“Aww”💞

“So sweet”💞

Many comments from each side, bringing a big smile to our faces. Everyone watching left, and those who on their c@m£ra capturing everything also left.

Yomi congratulated us. “At last, our wife is sure. She’s going no where again.” He smiled at Suzy. “He couldn’t sleep well for all these years. I know he will definitely sleep well today.” I laughed at his big lie, including Suzy too. He win-ked at me. “Now the guy is taken.” We did a brotherly shake, and laugh it off.
Mom moved closer to us. “Congratulations,” she hvgged Suzy.
“I’ve been waiting for this day,” she had a big smile on her face.
“Congratulations once again.”

“Finally!” Victoria finally had the chance to greet us. She faced her friend instead. “Our wife,” she tea-sed. “Just pick a d@t£ alre-ady, so we can start the preparation immediately.” Suzy laughed. “So fast.”

Victoria smiled happily. “Very very fast. His two hundred and six bones too, can’t wait to start…” I didn’t hear the rest. They’ve started to gossip. The next I heard was their laughter. Suzy looked at me and grin.

“I guess we will be having many scholars in our family soon. Congratulations!” My Dad shook hands, and hvgged Suzy, then congratulate me too.
Yomi win-ked at me. “When he married a scholar…”

“It equals to scholars.” Victoria completed ma-king everyone laughed.

And she said yes!
