#Episode_46?

Every step I take makes my heart pound right in my che-st.
Why am I even scared?

Austin has the right to know the truth. We’ve been together for more than seven months, and he has been good and caring to me. But I nee-ded not to deceive him, and put everything behind us.
Stepping into the reception, I saw him, his back facing me, as he moved up and down.

“Hi, good afternoon” I slowly said, afraid I might be getting a very loud one in return.

“What’s good about the afternoon!” He turned around, sh0ting me a dead glare. I didn’t want to cause any argument or fight, so I tried to keep my voice low.

“Keep your voice down plea-se.”

“Why are you here in the first place?” He didn’t hide the fact that he was angry, raising his voice at me.
“I’m here for Victor. He had an accident. I’m sorry I couldn’t tell you. I know you guys don’t get along, but he nee-ds me,” I tried to apologize.

He hissed. “After he broke up with my sister and c@m£ running to you. And then, you will tell me you guys are just friend.”
I actually didn’t know he broke up with Gabi, but that wasn’t my concern. I knew I nee-ded to tell him the truth. “Austin I want to-”
“Don’t you try to fool me again!” His eyes were burning, and his hand ball in a fist re-ady to attack someone. I was scared anything might happen, because he was very angry at the moment. “Don’t you try to say he’s just a friend, because I re-ad out of the silly letters he s£nt to you during your time in school. Besides, who still does that to get a lady!”

“Austin just listen!” My voice was raised a bit for him to hear me out. I actually thought it was Love who tampered with the box. “First, that was my property. It’s mine and you have no say on whatever it is. Why did you t©uçh it in the first place.” I was starting to raise my voice. I knew the nurses would soon s£nd us out, because that was not allowed in the hospital.
He cl@pped his hands. “Well pla-yed! Now it’s Victor. Just see how your two eyes almost popped out of your socket-”
“Excuse me! If someone actually told me you don’t have manners, I wouldn’t have believed.” He did a turn around, and stared at me.

“That isn’t coming from you right?”

“That’s because I’m confused how you could throw such insult at me!” I made my voice very clear for him to hear me well. I was trying to be cool, but I wouldn’t take insult. He was shocked by my reaction. Guess he wasn’t expecting that. I’ve always been so cool with his anger, trying not to add oil to the burning fire, and he thinks he would get away with it as always. I was there for us to talk, and not to argue. “Austin, Victor hasn’t done anything wrong. Just hear what I have to say.”

“That’s what you think!” He replied immediately, angry words pouring out his mouth. Eyes blazing like a red charcoal. Someone can’t deal with his anger problems. “You want to know what he’s done to me?” His eyes were glued on me, serious. “He broke my sister’s heart, and he wants to take you away. Isn’t that what it looks like? I see why he hates me the moment he saw me. I was his rival.” He looked into my eyes, and I immediately looked away.

“Austin, will you just calm down and listen.”

“That what?” He sh0t me an angry look again.

“That truly, Victor is more than a friend to me.” I really do not know how else to put it, when he wasn’t planning to listen. As I expected, his eye ba-lls bec@m£ red than before, and he stared at me. Almost punching the wall, but he slammed his hand on the best beside him instead.

“I knew it!”

“Austin plea-se st©p. Lets go out and settle this.” I quic-kly gr@bb£d his hand to drag him outside, but he yanked it away.
“We are not going out to settle this, because we are leaving right this moment. You’re coming with me.”
“What!” That caught me by surprise. “Did you just say leave.”
“Don’t ask me again. Is either you choose him or me. I’m not going to take this $h!t again.” He was waiting for my reply.
“Ma’am,” a nurse rushed to my side. “The patient has woken up.”

Victor

Oh God!

Finally

Victor has woken up

“Aren’t you Austin? Tito’s former b©yfri£nd?” The nurse made me st©pped on my track. “Do you even know she was pregnant with your baby when you guys broke up?”

Pregnant!?

Austin alre-ady had a baby.

He was shocked also. His mouth slack, and his eyes curious to hear more. He couldn’t say a word, and he couldn’t face me.
“Oh! You didn’t know,” She realized by Austin’s reaction. “I’m sorry you found out from me. I thought you knew, and you guys still decided to call it quit. But I hope you know she didn’t cheat on you because she truly loves you.”

His hands raked his hair, angry. He closed his eyes, opened it, and brou-ght out his phone immediately, still not uttering a word.
“Will you follow me plea-se,” the nurse reminded me about the good news she just announced. I knew Austin and I would still have to talk, but I didn’t waste anymore time, walking towards the direction of where Victor was. When we got there, His mom, and Victoria were alre-ady beside him, including two doctors. An old doctor, and a young doctor.

“Hello,” the old Doctor said to him. He saw me the moment I walked in. My heart was beating right in my che-st, knowing that the Doctor was there to confirm if what the X-ray they did was right about his br@in not affected.

“So, Mr. Stephen, can you recognize anyone standing here.” The old Doctor asked. He stared at every one, and smiled at me.
Yes!
That was enough to make me finally have a big smile on my face. He just responded to what the Doctor asked him. Our Victor is back.

“That pretty girl over there is Suzy, my girlfriend.”

I couldn’t hide my blus-h. I cl@pped jubilating, getting everyone’s attention who s£nt a smile at me.

But something was wrong

My girlfriend is another thing
Hmm…

“That’s my Mom over there, and that’s my sister, Victoria who just got married.”
Yes!
I could not hide my tears. My happy tears roll down
my cheeks.

Isn’t this wonderful?

Both Victoria and her Mom jumped up in excitement also.

“Congratulations on your recovery Mr. Stephen” The old Doctor smiled at him.

✏Victor’s POV ?
__________
I found my eyes staring at nothing but the ceiling, the white bulb, and the wires connected together right before my head.

“Victor,” I knew that familiar voice too well. Mom was staring down at me with sudden tears rolling down her face. “Victoria, call the doctor.” She screamed. I could hear everything. The smell, and everything around made me realize I was in the hospital. I could remember dropping Suzy, and heading back home before the accident occur. I tried lifting my b©dy, but it wasn’t moving, especially a very serious pain that hit me right in my leg. It was then that I realized the pain in every p@rt of my b©dy.

The two Doctors arrived immediately, smiling at Mom, and congratulating her before even checking on me. The door opened, and I saw Suzy walked in. She looked scared, but stood there also, staring down at me. When the Doctor asked if I could recognize the people standing, a smile appeared on my face the moment I saw Suzy’s horror look. She smiled back, relaxing.
I guess she alre-ady knew I heard what the Doctor said.

“So can you remember where you were coming from that day?”
The Doctor asked.

I nodded slightly. “From a friend’s place.” I didn’t want to mention Suzy’s name. People are so funny at as-suming and concluding on things.

“So, Mr. Stephen, who would you like to talk to first? You nee-d to talk with someone to be able to catch up with some things.” The same man said, writing down something on a paper he collected from the young Doctor.

I turned to look at Suzy, and face the old Doctor again. “Doctor Suzy,” I said, confusing the two Doctors. But Suzy had a big smile on her face instead. She looked good, and beautiful in her black pencil go-wn.

“Oh!” The two Doctors were staring at each other to know if something hasn’t gone wrong with me again. The young Doctor turned to Suzy. “You’re Suzy right?”

She nodded. “Yes, I’m a Doctor.” She put them out of their worries, calming them down with a smile on her face.
The Doctor smiled. “I see, so she’s your personal Doctor?”
“About to be,” I replied the old Doctor who took a quic-k glance at Suzy, and also look down at me murmuring, “hmm.”
I heard Victoria chuckled lightly, with dry tears on her face.

The old Doctor coughed, and smile down at me. “I can see you will recover so quic-kly. So, any heavy kind of pain?” He tried tou-ching my leg with was not wra-pped with a cast.
I shook my head. “I’m not feeling pain there.”
“And this,” he t©uçhed the one tied with a cast.

“Yey!” I yelped in pain.

He wrote down something immediately. “It’s okay. With time, it will heal up.” He turned to Suzy, and others. plea-se give us some minutes for him to be taken to his ward, then you can talk and help him catch up with some things. Especially miss Suzy. He nee-ds you. He’s been mentioning your name since.” The old Doctor smiled. “Nice to meet you Doctor Suzy.”

Suzy shook hands with him. “My plea-sure sir.”

“So which hospital?”

“Dove hospital,” she replied.

“Wow!” The Doctor did a salute for her, ma-king her smile like a little girl. “We respect you ma. I once work with them in Canada before coming back to Nigeria. And it’s one of best reigning hospitals we have in Nigeria. See you later.” The old Doctor left, along with the young Doctor.

By then, my things were packed, and I was pushed out of the room to the second floor. I was cleaned up, and immediately they were done, I asked them to call me the fair lady standing outside the ward.

She walked in, all smiling. The black go-wn hvgging her small curves, as she settled down on the chair beside my be-d.
Trying to look for her trouble. “Hey, why are you smiling?”
She giggled. “Because I’m happy.”

“And the tears?”

She ru-bbe-d her face. “I’m no longer crying, but that’s because I’m happy also.”

A smile managed to appear on myl-ips. She looks very cute whenever she talks like that, smiling like a little girl. “You must be very very happy,” I tea-sed her.

She rolled her eyes, finally realizing I was teasing her. “Very very,” she still went ahead to talk, ma-king me grin at her.

“Ouch,” I felt the pain in my left arm because I moved it too much. She laughed, ma-king jest of me. “That’s for trying to tease someone who cares about you.”

“Really,” I said, ma-king her giggle, as little tear was starting to appear. I didn’t like seeing that, so I went ahead to say something that could make her laugh instead.
“May be that’s why I heard you telling me that, Victor let’s get married sharp sharp. So you want to take care of me alone, and steal me away from my family just like that.”

As expected, she was laughing, blu-shing, and her white set of teeth were flashing at me. I was tem-pted to just gr-ab her. Her little cle-avagewas staring at me, and I couldn’t help but imagine how fresh, and ripe they will look. Oh! Forgive me Lord.
That boneless p@rt of me was starting to arise from the secret throne God put it. I couldn’t even do anything with my hand, talk less of stealing a k!ssfrom that plumpl-ips smiling at me.

“Aww, really.” She gave me that cute face, not helping the situation on ground.

Holy mother of Mary, help my destiny. Something
un-der here nee-ds to settle down to where it
belongs.

“You’re smiling pretty ha-rd ,” she said.
Time to start our little game.
“Because I’m happy.”
She laughed, knowing what I was about to start. “Copy copy uncle.”
I was careful with the way I laugh because of my health. But I couldn’t help not laughing a little. I could feel the pain from my ribs, so I had to st©p myself from laughing too ha-rd .
“Are you not hungry?” She asked.

“I am, but can I take anything now?”

“Yes, but something light, then you take your drugs, and take a nap to relax your muscles.”
That’s my Doctor.

I didn’t say that out but she just gave me one kind look before she got up. “Let me meet with the nurses. Will be right back.”
“Okay. Tell Mom, and Victoria to come in also.”
She left, and the two c@m£ in immediately. “Feeling better?” Mom was beside me instantly.

“So where is Yomi?” I asked.

“He attended the meeting you were supposed to have this morning. He’s been here along with your girlfriend also. I didn’t know you guys are alre-ady d@t!ng. In fact she surprised me, she had been slee-ping here in the hospital since you were brou-ght here.”

“Really!” That surprised me too.
Victoria nodded, and s£nt me a warm smile.

Dad called, and we had a little talk together. I knew he was out of the country before the incident, so I was not offended.
Suzy c@m£ back and told me a nurse will soon join us.
“I think you should go home and rest. Mom told me you’ve been here since I was brou-ght here.”
She s£nt me a heart warming smile. “What should I buy for you when I’m coming,” she asked.

“Fruit is okay.” She got up, and carried her bag. “Once the nurse is around, you won’t be allowed to stay with him,” she told Mom, and Victoria.

“Hmm, thank you so much my daughter.” Victoria and I was shocked by what we heard. I especially. Mom talking to Suzy.
“You’ve been a great help to us, and Victor especially. The moment you left his side talking to him, he woke up, and you know what that means to me,” Mom was starting to cry. “I never prayed to lose any of the two, because I’ve experienced what’s like losing a child before, and I still can’t get over the pain it caused me.” She was crying. Suzy moved closer to her. “It’s okay ma.”

“Mom, it’s okay. Victor is fine alre-ady.” Victoria was hvgging mom. I never knew Mom haven’t forgotten the case of our little sister who died if conjunctivitis when she was just a baby. I was ten year-old, and Victoria was eight year-old then.
Suzy said her goodbye, and Mom decided to esc-rt her. Remembering what Mom said about Suzy talking to me.

“Hey, Victoria what did Suzy say?”

Victoria laughed, and gave me one of her cookie smile she’s gives to people whenever she wants to gossip. She moved closer to me, and whispered. “She said she wants to spend the rest of her life with you and have your babies forever.” I could s-en-se she was lieing with her wicked grin.
A smile appeared on my face, hoping one day it will come to pas-s.

She was still laughing. “Well, she actually said she loves you. You’re so lucky.” She said. Sincerity was shown on her face. And I couldn’t express how much happiness consumed me. The nurse appeared, and Victoria win-ked at me. “I love you more brother.”

I managed to just open my teeth to grin.

“I actually love Suzy more.”
What type of brother am I?

I guess that’s when another kind of love is involved.
