My days at crown school episode 42 & 43

MY
DAYS
AT
📚 CROWN SCHOOL📚

#EPISODE_42&43

While coming back home after the p@rty. Love was alre-ady asleep. “Suzy.” Austin called, and I immediately looked up from my phone. “I’ve been meaning to ask you this. How did you know almost everyone at the p@rty.”

I chuckled. “Austin that’s funny.” I was thinking whether to tell him or not. “I only talked to my old friends from school. Well, I went to Crown school, same as Victoria.” I told him.
He s-en-sed something. Or may be he knew about something.
“You went to Crown school?” He repeated. “Isn’t it the school that belongs to the Stephen’s family?”
I nodded.

“You knew Victor then!” The car c@m£ to a halt all of a sudden. His eyes flashed with anger, and I knew he wanted an explanation.

Oh God!

“Austin do you want to have me killed?”

“So why did you pretend like you really didn’t know him?” He was angry, his voice raising at me, and he almost explode.
I nee-ded to do something to calm him down.

“We are actually not that close Austin. Just Hi, Hello, and…But what does Victor has to do with this?”
Why did I lie?

I didn’t know what else to say. He continued driving, and didn’t ask me any question till we got home.
I got out of Austin’s car as soon as we arrived home. I went straight to to the seat at the back, and flung Love on her shoulder. She was sound asleep, that she didn’t know she was being carried. But she didn’t hesitate to wra-p her small hands round my n£¢k.

Welldone ma!

Austin drove away very fast, and I quietly made my way in. Sister Blessings was right there in the parlour, eating. I greeted her, and handed Love to her. I quic-kly excused myself to be alone. I knew why I wanted to retire to my be-d on time. I took a quic-k shower, changed to my night go-wn, and immediately I turned the radio on to listen to ‘love connect’. If there is something I like about it, I really enjoy the pres£nter so much, and since the day I knew about it, I never miss her programme.

🎤📻
🎤”Yes, yes, good evening my people. You’re definitely listening to love connect.” Her beautiful voice sounded happy, and lively as always. There is a way she talks that makes everyone starts laughing, and giggling.

🎤”Yes my people. It’s your favourite pres£nter W.A.N.D.E… Wande! You can call me Wande coal, Wande fresh, Wande slim, Wande teeth, Wande funny, Wande Bebe.. No mind me. I get plenty names for hand. But any Wande you wanna call me, do better packaging for it, and make am sweet well well. But still, I remain that girl that loves to do your b©dy gbigbis, and make you wish to fall in love.”

I was alre-ady laughing, and rolling on my be-d. She likes doing over sabi to everything. It was cool though. And I always enjoy myself whenever she says that.
📻🎤
“My people, we dey on t©p 102.5fm. If you’re feeling your Wande on t©p this radio, pick up your phone and text to 32140 with ‘yeah yehhh..” You know how brother wizkid they do am now. Oya make we carry go.”

And in just one minute, she started re-ading the text she received.

“Yes oo… This is from Collins. He said, Wande I’m feeling you like jazz, and I’m saying yeah..yehh.. You too much my sister. I get to know about this programme throu-gh my girlfriend. She likes you so much. plea-se re-ad out my message to her.” She re-ad out what the guy s£nt. “Aww, so ro-mantic. So Helen, I know you’re listening right now. This is Collins message to you.”

‘ I’ve always hear that love is a beautiful thing. But
with you, you made me experience what’s like to be in paradise. I love you. And till the end of time, I
will always love you.’

“Aww,” she said, ma-king me laugh. “plea-se pl@yme YEBA by k!ssDaniel. It’s her favorite song for now.” She finished re-ading the message. “So my people, relax your mind, and enjoy this beautiful jam. k!ssDaniel no dey dull at all.”

When the pres£nter said love is a beautiful thing. The only person I could think of, was no other than him. I smiled remembering how silly he acted with me today. My phone buzzed, interrupting the song being pla-yed. I drew it closer to check the message.

✒’Can’t sleep.’

No other person than Victor Stephen. I contemplated on returning his message or not, until I found myself pressing the alphabets bu-tton of my phone.

✒’You’re just tired. Did you do what I asked you to?
You can also take a bath, and tune in to 102.5fm. I
listen to it every time.’✅✅

I s£nt back, and in just few seconds, his reply c@m£ in.

‘Yes doctor. Especially when she’s there to give him
that h0t bath.’

I laughed as I re-ad his message. This guy was flir-ting with me. I can’t deny this feeling when it’s Victor Stephen. He always make me feel that way. And I was smiling like a teenage girl in love again. To avoid him keep flir-ting, I s£nt a normal reply.

‘Just do what I say.”

My phone buzzed immediately.

“This is when you have a Doctor as your friend, and
eventually have her as your wife.”
I couldn’t suppressed my smile.
Silly guy.

‘You wish.’ I s£nt back, and as I was about to drop my phone, it vibr@ted again.
‘A wish about to come true.’
Oh Victor! I covered my smiling face, to st©p myself from blu-shing even more. Why can’t I get you out of
my head.

I returned my phone to where I picked it earlier.
I’m not going to reply that.

✒Victor’s POV✅✅

After the p@rty, mom insisted I drove her back home. I tried all my best to escape and just get back to my place at Banana Island. But no, Mom dragged me, and dismissed the driver to carry the rest of the family. I didn’t want any argument to come up, so I just collected the key, and took her, and some family members home. And as expected, I was their t©pic till we got home.

Immediately we got home, I knew I wouldn’t be able to go to my place, because Mom had alre-ady told me she would see me. Knowing the family members were around, I escaped to my old room to save myself from questions about when I would be bringing their wife.

I don’t get it.

Are they the one getting married or me?

“Victor,” I heard a knock on my door. I was alre-ady out of my jacket, and almost done with the bu-ttons. “Mom the door is opened.” I called out.

She walked in, still in her iro and buba, holding her head tie. She sat on my be-d, and told me to join her. Reluctantly, I sat next to her. She raised her hand up, and t©uçhed my cheek smiling at me. “You’re looking so handsome today.”
I just scratched the back of my head. I alre-ady knew where she was heading to.

“Thank you so much for today Victor. This is how we will come together on your day too.”

I knew it!

Marriage

Wife

Settle down!

The same music everyday.

“You’re now the man I pictured you to be. Successful, handsome, rich, and enough to have your own family.” Mom smiled at me.

“Mr. Victor Stephen,” she tea-sed.

I just shook my head, and allowed small smile to grace myl-ips. She’s always like that when she’s trying to lure you into something. Sweet, and calm like she isn’t strict. “When are we going to get the d@t£ for you and Gabi. Time is going my son. You will be twenty nine in few weeks.”

I got up, and shook my head at her. “Mom, you nee-d to un-derstand that nothing is going to happen between Gabi and I.”
She frowned. “Why? You guys are together now. She’s done with her education, and you’re alre-ady doing well with your Dad’s company. What else?” She asked, looking confused.

“Mom, there is nothing intim-acy going on between Gabi and I. She’s not the woman I want to settle down with. I have someone else in mind.”

She shook her head at me, as if she knew who I was talking about. “That same girl again. I really don’t know what she has that Gabi doesn’t have. She’s fair, Gabi is also fair. Gabi has everything this same girl has. Besides, I think I saw her with Gabi’s brother. You’re here dying on t©p one girl who has moved on with her life. Accept the fact, and also move on with your life Victor.”

“Mom, do you have anything against her. I don’t get it. Do you really dislike her for me.”

“Of course not.” My mom’s face bec@m£ calm. “I just didn’t like how much of a distraction she was to you then. Because, it was just about her, and I knew you weren’t concentrating well enough.”
“But mom, I’m old enough to decide who I want to marry for myself. And I’m letting you know that I’m breaking up with Gabi soon.”
She stared at me, angry, and immediately got to her feet.
“Suit yourself, and keep pla-ying around with your old age. Show her family how irresponsible you are, and break up with her. I won’t discuss this with you again. It’s your choice. Let me pas-s!” She said angrily, ma-king me move away, even when I wasn’t completely standing on her way. She left immediately, not taking a look at me again.
✒✒
I finished with the last bu-tton of my shi-t, when I heard a knock again. That was p@rt of the reason why I wanted to escape from them. The whole family will do nothing, but disturb you.

“Pas-s me the head tie I left on your be-d.” It was mom again. I opened the door, and gave it to her.

“Thank you. Hope you will be staying with us for some days?” It might look like she asked, but I knew she was asking me too.
“Don’t know yet,” I gave her my reply, and she left, still looking annoyed. I know my Dad isn’t a problem at all. Since what happened the other day before I travelled, Dad never mentioned it again. He was happy I was doing great with my studies, and when I finally finished my masters, he was happy I was going to work in his new company he just founded.
I knew breaking up with Gabi won’t be easy. But I was glad I’ve told her from the beginning that I wasn’t interested, even though she insisted on us trying to be together.

“Gabi, I know I once like you, but that’s in the past. I have someone I’m willing to start a relationsh!pwith.”

She looked hurt, but still pressed on. “Victor,” she t©uçhed my face. “I can help you forget about her. You’ve once showed interest in me, even though we never have the chance to be together. I still like you,” she was as sweet as then. Melody voice, and beautiful smile. Though she pressed on, I still made my intention, and decision clear to her.

“Gabi, I only like you as a friend. I was thinking I would talk you into us telling them it can’t work.”

“No,” she shook her head. “I can’t ever say ‘No’ to my mom. I want this, and I really want you to give us a chance. Let’s try to get to know ourselves better.” She suggested. I really could not remember how I ended up saying ‘yes’ to such.
I thought it wasn’t something serious since Gabi and I only take ourselves out. But only for me to come back one day and meet Gabi’s Mom, and my mom telling me how fast I nee-ded to act before anyone else claim my bride.

Bride?

I couldn’t face them to tell them they were joking, because the only Bride I could see myself getting married to, was none other than Suzy James.
Immediately I was done with my masters, I c@m£ back after few months, hoping I would get in t©uçh with her. But I later found out that Suzy was out of the country for a long time also. I tried getting information about her from Victoria, but she purposely won’t say anything, and just dodge the questions sometimes. When I realized she was intentionally doing that, I got very angry, and decided to st©p asking about Suzy from her.

Three years back then, I overheard Victoria talking to Temi that Suzy was around, and she was going to meet with her. I knew I nee-ded to act fast because there was nothing more exciting, and could bring much happiness than seeing Suzy again. I wanted to lend Yomi’s car, but I remembered Temi was also going. I changed my mind, because I don’t think there isn’t anything Temi doesn’t know about Yomi. Those two were very close.
That day was the happiest day of my life. I saw her again after seven years. Looking fresh and more beautiful. Her fair skin glowing from afar, and her smile reaching my heart once again. I sat at the back of the taxi I hired, and just watch throu-gh the glas-s. It wasn’t enough because I was covering my head with face cap.

At first, I didn’t recognize who I saw. Something happened to that thick b©dy. I couldn’t say slim, but she had really come down. Guess it was stress. And besides, studying isn’t something very easy. It was obvious she was doing really well, and have moved on. p@rt of me was disappointed because knowing Victoria and her were in t©uçh, yet she never asked of me. As much as I love to show my face, I knew it wasn’t necessary, because it was never p@rt of her plan to see Victor.

Once I was done satisfying my heart, I went back to where I was nee-ded. My office. Hoping work at the office would get my mind off her. But no, I was angry at everything the staff was doing. So I decided to call someone who could help me feel better. I had a drink with Yomi Stephen, and I ended up telling him everything.

√ Three years after, I heard she was finally back to Nigeria. But this time, I didn’t rush checking on her like I did back then. I only allowed someone to investigate for me. Pas-sing by the island as usual, I intentionally pas-s throu-gh the hospital she was working.
It was one of the best pri-vate hospitals we have in Lagos. Dove medical care hospital in Victoria Island was known to have the best doctors from overseas countries. And from what I found out, she was also referred from a popular hospital in Canada as one of the brilliant doctors they have there. My family personally don’t use the Dove hospital because everything about the hospital screams money, but their work never fails.
She was far more successful than I imagined, because she was one of the t©p doctors in the hospital. I have watched one of her interviews on TV, on how she was awarded and promoted in the few months. And how she was interviewed about talking on the disease of poverty we have in Nigeria. To my surprise, the vanguard paper, carried her interview on how she talked on Malaria, and Cholera. She was going far in her career. And I was so proud of her. As much as I wish to face her, and start something together with her, I just couldn’t. p@rt of me couldn’t face her.

Knowing I couldn’t park anywhere closer because of the security they had. I decided to park a bit far from their gate, just watching. I really did not know why I decided on such decision, but I prayed she walked out of the gate, because I knew I couldn’t stay there for too long. Just in time, 2016 Mercedes Benz GLE-Clas-s drove out of the hospital compound. I wasn’t surprised their staff could afford something expensive because they pay them well.

A woman in black heels climbe-d down, and closed the door of the car facing my direction. Since the day I saw her, I could recognize her from anywhere. Black skinny jean, blue shi-t, and black heels. When you see a successful woman, you will know. Her head up high, as she walked with confidence back towards the building. A young man st©pped her, and she was all smiling at him, before she walked throu-gh the gate of the building.

The guy and his friend crossed to where I parked my Lamborghini Gallardo. “Is that not the same Suzy, Mercy’s cousin?” The guy’s voice was loud enough.

“Yes. The same Suzy we met at Mercy’s birthday Lekan.” The guy confirmed.

“I don’t think she recognized me, because she just said hi, and looked away.”
“Do you expect her to jump on you before?” I couldn’t suppressed my smile at the reply the guy gave back.

The Lekan guy just hissed. “You don start be that one. But I think say you like that girl?”

As if the guy said something bad. The guy shook his head. “My brother, cut your coat according to your size,” the guy said, ma-king me laugh. “I don’t think my salary is half of what she’s collecting. So my brother, she’s not the one.”
I couldn’t st©p myself from laughing. I shook my head at the thought of what guys have about Suzy. I’m not surprised because it’s common in our society today. Seeing a lady that’s more successful than them, and alre-ady concluding she isn’t the one. Why should that be?

My smile disappeared the moment she c@m£ out wra-pping her hand on a guy’s shoulder. The guy looked familiar, and that made me remember the scene at the bar I went a few weeks back. He actually walked out on a lady who was in heavy tears. No one knows what went wrong, because they both c@m£ out from a corner, before the guy stormed out of the bar. But I overheard the lady and her friend.

“What did he say?” Her friend asked, annoyed at something I really do not know.

With tears rolling down, she quic-kly covered her face with her hands, and said, “He won’t even hear me out. I can’t tell him. I think he’s done with me.”
Her friend hissed, and began to curse. “That’s your own. He nee-ds to know, and he would accept this whether he likes it or not.”
I couldn’t get what the girls were discussing, but I knew he has done something wrong. And the moment I saw him with Suzy, I instantly dislike him. He was hiding something. He’s no faithful man.

Few days before Victoria’s wedding, Gabi introduced him to me as her brother. I didn’t hide my disdain for him. I felt like punching his face right there. I knew he s-en-sed it too, he didn’t acknowledge me either.

As much as I want to face Suzy, p@rt of me couldn’t. Not re-ady to see what her reaction would be. On the day of Victoria’s wedding, I knew she would be there. And finally, whether I like it or not, I would have to face her. I was going to win her over no matter what it will cost me.

That day, I went prepared.👊
