MOTHER WHY
EPISODE 61
The next day before Mrs chioma and her daughter would wake up, the people Victor paid to do decorations for her birthday came knocking, she reluctantly went outside to check who was knocking.
MRS CHIOMA
good morning and how may I be of help?
ANGELINA
good morning ma, you are Mrs chioma right?
MRS CHIOMA
who wants to know?
ANGELINA
(She smiled)
my name is Angelina Paul, we are here on the reguest of you friend.
MRS CHIOMA
(Cinfused)
my friend? what friend? and to do what exactly?
ANGELINA
it’s supposed to be a surprise, the person will review himself later we are asked to get you ready for the birthday.
Mrs chioma was surprised, she was sure she hasn’t told anyone about her birthday since she came to Abuja so who would want to surprise her?
Without waiting for her response Angelina and her colleague went inside and started to decorate… Amara came out and saw them too, she was also surprised just lIke the mother.
Around 9am some set of people came to do their makeup for them, Mrs chioma wasn’t comfortable at all and she wish she could know who was behind all this package but the workers will say nothing to her.
Around 5pm the caterers that Victor paid to cook brou-ght everything to Mrs Chioma’s house… everything was set for the birthday, her birthday dress was delivered to her at the right moment.
Amelia was discharged that morning, it wasn’t time for her to go home yet but she wouldn’t miss her mother’s birthday party for anything in the world so she begged that they discharged her…. Victor lodged them in a hotel till it was time for the party, someone called him to inform him that the house compound is filled with guests as he instructed.
VICTOR
babe it’s time, everything you requested for has been arranged.
AMELIA
than let’s go to the party and not keep our guest waiting
she said excitedly and Victor smiled even know he still don’t un-derstand what’s she’s trying to do…. mrs chioma was surprised at the kind of guest that filled not just her house but the whole compound, the most shocking thing was that they were reporters too and that made her feel even more special and desperate to know who must have arranged all this for her.
When Victor got into the compound, he called the MC and told him he was around, that he should introduce the person that prepared everything for the birthday.
MC JUDAS
good evening ladies and gentlemen, please can I have your attention?… oh wow you all look beautiful and elegant tonight and I’m very sure the celebr@nt is very happy to have you all here tonight…. the time we have been waiting for has come, I know some of us here don’t even know who the celebr@nt is so I’m going to call her out right now so we can know her.
everyone clapped before he continued again
MC JUDAS
she’s a very beautiful, respected mother of two, she’s no other person but Mrs Chioma…. a round of applause for her as we welcome her.
Mrs chioma came out with a broad smile on her face, Amara was behind her too, whoever that made this happened must really be R0m-ntic and she can’t wait to see the person…. mc Judas gave Mrs chioma the microphone so she could say something.
MRS CHIOMA
all my life I don’t thing anything has ever made me emotional like I am right now, I mean this party came as a surprise and whoever that did this I just want you to show your face so I can appreciate you very well.
she said and gave me Judas the microphone back, mc Judas decided to invite the host out which was no other person but amelia.
At the mention of the name “Amelia” Mrs chioma and Amara frozed because they never thought a woman was behind all this surprise not to talk of their own blood, Amelia walked in majestically with Victor holding her hand sweetly… oh the shock was big and they couldn’t hide it.
AMELIA
(hu-gging the mother)
I guess you are Shocked mum, that’s the deal I wanted to surprise you so Victor and I planned it.
MRS CHIOMA
oh wow I must confess you guys really surprised me…. thank you so much.
AMELIA
common mum, you don’t nee-d to thank me yet, I mean wait till I show you what I have in stock for you as birthday present.
Amara was pissed off that Victor and Amelia were back together, she wished she didn’t give her a slow posion, she wished she had given her the posion that would kill her immediately.
Amelia and Victor took a seat and watched how everything was going…. amelia made sure everybody has eaten and was satisfied before she got up and took a glas-s of jui-ce to make a toast.
AMELIA
(She get the glas-s cu-p with a spoon)
sorry to interrupt your fun, I hope you guys are enjoying your evening?

AMELIA
(She smiled)
I’m very happy to see all this faces here tonight, I mean is not easy for you all to leave your homes to grace my mother’s 50st birthday…. i really appreciate… I decided to throw my mother this birthday party because I want the world to know who she truly is and how important she is in my life… so camera people make sure you recorded everything that goes down here, so I can docu-ments them.
Mrs chioma was just smiling, she didn’t know what her daughter had in stock for her….
AMELIA
most of you don’t know us, and some of you do because you are just our next door neighbors, my mother here gAve birth to two beautiful girls who are now those beautiful woman you are seeing.
she said and put her hand on Amara’s shoulder so people would know who her sister is.
AMELIA
as a good mother my mother has only favoured my younger sister more than she has every favoured me more like she hated me though…. but who cares? I mean she’s my mother…. this hatred grew up in her heart till I became an adult… everyone good mother’s wish is to see their daughter go to their husbands house as a V¡rgin but my own mother here set me up with the man who she brou-ght home to ra-pe me because he offered her one million naira.
As she spoke everyone became silent like a graveyard, even Mrs chioma couldn’t feel her own heartbeat again, what was Amelia talking about? did she throw a party for her only to disgrace her?
MRS CHIOMA
common baby, what are you talking about…
(she tried to touch her but Amelia pushed her away)
AMELIA
I thought my life has ended as that stranger to-re my clothes and went on and on eithe till there was no more strength in him to go…. I looked at the bed and there it was, the V¡rginity I have kept for so long lost because my mother loved money more than she loved me….. I know parents always have a way of loving their last born more than the rest kids but I’m very sure my mother’s own was different… it was pure hatred like she isn’t the one who came birth to me.
Victor could not hold back his tears, amelia has never told her that story before, even Mr Benson and his wife were speechless and shocked, they regretted judging the poor girl wrongly.
AMELIA
i hope you all will forgive me because it’s going to be a long night.
(she said and wiped her tears)
Victor got up and went to meet his woman, he robbed her shoulder so she could calm down.
AMELIA
I would have still be in the dark if God has not sent this young man into my life to make me realize how much my family hates me and wants my end… before everyone today and before everyone that’s watching us in their homes, I will like to ask my mother why she and my sister charmed my ex finacê and made him to leave me before our wedding.
This time the whole house was filled with noise, the anger on people’s face was so visible that Mrs chioma and her daughter feared to take a step so they wouldn’t beat them.
