” Richie hey what’s wrong ? You look stressed…are you still gonna go for your cousins wedding ? Our band manager Omar asked as he sat opposite me .
” I don’t know ….I would have given an escuse like every other time if it wasn’t Dami’s wedding ” I said referring to my cousin .
” You’re smoking again ” he scolded as he put of the stick and closed the alcohol .
I ru-bbed my face as I leaned on the chair .
” You’re hurt ……do you wanna talk about it ? He asked camly.
” I …I don’t know …” I whispered softly.
” Hey c’mon ” he said and I bit my lower li-p as my eyes stung with tears .
” I hurt a lot this afternoon Omar ….I wasn’t even sorry about it ..
I said the bitter truth to her face and watched her cry as I walked away from her ….” I said as tears rolled outta my eyes .
He looked at me as I sniffed back tears .
” You’re still so into Dera and we both know that .” He said and I Gr0-ned .
” I’m not ….I’m not into her okay ” I said immediately .
” Then what’s wrong ? Why are you still affected anytime you are her ? The both of you used to be very good friends while you where in Nigeria ?? …
” Things only changed when she had you take her V¡rginity only to tell you it was nothing special …
” She regected your feelings coldly and asked you to move on…that hurt Richie …but denying the fact that she still rules your heart will only cause further damage ” he advised .
” I can’t okay ….I can’t look at her without feeling resentment and aside from that , remember I signed a no dating policy with the record label ? I asked and he rolled his eyes .
” Oh really ? Now ? Lucas is already secretly dating …Clark is crazily inlove with bervely , hopefully they’d be official soon …Preston …well I don’t know what’s up with that kid …but I know you’re still very much Inlove with the Nigerian beauty ” he said and I chuckled .
” I don’t care ….just let me smoke Omar ” I whinned and he smacked my head .
” You’re as stupid as Clark ” he scolded .
” Seriosely ? I’d tell him you said that ‘ I said and he laughed .
” I gotta go out ” I said and stood up .
” Where are you going ? He asked .
” I’ve got a date ” I said putting on my room sli-ppers properly .
” You’re not going anywhere , s-× and getting high isn’t gonna help in anyway …put that energy in music …” He said and my jaws dropped as he looked at me .

” Don’t you dare try to confuse me , now run along …” He said and as I laughed my phone rang .
” It’s my mom ” I said as I sat down .
” She likes to video call you ” he said and I chuckled .
” Ya ….to know what I’m up to ” I said and he shook his head .
” Tell her I said hi ” he said as he walked upstairs probably to check on Preston .
He acts more like a father to us .
” Mommy ” I said immediately I picked up and she looked at me .
” Richa-rd ” she said excitedly as I saw her open a pot and stir .
” That looks yummy ” I said and she chuckled .
” I know it looks yummy , that’s why you have to come quickly to Nigeria so that …I’d feed you well …you’re looking sick ” she said and my jaws dropped .
‘ mom I’m perfectly fine …” I said and she raised her nose .
” Fine indeed , after you’ve fry your hair and plait it like woman ” she scolded .
” What did you do to your ears Richa-rd …is that earinggs I see ?
” Richie …! Is this the way I brou-ght you up ? She scolded and i could see Lucas who’d just walked in laugh crazily .
” Mom it’s fake ” I said immediately .
” Fake ? I know earinggs when I see one Richie ! She added .
” Mom what’s wrong with earinggs ? I asked softly.
” Everything Richa-rd , are you a woman ? You’re already good-looking ..as if the color of your eyes is not enough problem for girls , you’re now wearing earinggs ! She Scolded .
‘ hahahaha ” Lucas laughed and I glared at him .
” Take them off ” she commanded .
” Mom ….you can’t possibly …” I trailed .
I stopped talking Immediately my eyes met with hers ?
If you’re from Nigeria and you don’t know the looks from your mom infact if you don’t un-derstand the language of the eyes then you’re in for Serious beating .
I sent my hands to my ear and removed the earinggs and dropped them on the silver stoned table .
” See I’ve removed it ” I said showing her the table and heard her sharp intake of breath .
” Richa-rd you smoke ! ” She said at the top of her voice and I froze.
” Huh ….” I said still in shock .
” Richa-rd bamidele ! You smoke ? Jesus ! What happened to you son ? I’m so dissapointed in you !
” Your elder brother must hear this ?
” Infact I’m telling your father ” she said and I ru-bbed my face nervously .
” Mommy emabinu ….” I said immediately in Yoru-ba as I looked at her .
” I’m not a chronic smoker , it’s just once I’m stressed ” I said and she looked at me.
” What is stressing you ? Ehnn that you can’t talk to your friend , how is smoking going to relieve that stress when it’s only gonna help you die young ? She asked and I felt bad .
” Good evening aunt ” Lucas greeted her and she smiled at him .
” It’s morning over hear Lucas …how are you ? Why did you not advice your friend ? Or are you also a smoker ? She asked and Lucas open and closed his mouth like a fish .
Mom is something else .
” …once in awhile” he said smiling .
” Fine boy like you ? I’m sure it’s Richie that spoilt you ” she said
” So both of you have not heard that smoker’s are liable to die Young ? She asked and that was the beginning of a long lecture.
” Mommy we’ve heard , I’ll not smoke again
I promise .
” Good boy ” she smiled .
” I’d only forgive you if you promise me you’d bring Dera to the wedding ?
” The both of you should come as a couple it’ll be awesome ” mom said with an happy grin and Lucas chocked on the wine he was drinking .
” I ….” I trailed .
” C’mon the both of you used to be good friends right ? And don’t you dare tell me she’s currently in a relationship , I follow her on Instagram … Twitter ” she said and I chuckled .
‘ you’re seriously prepared for this matcmaking ” I said and she Chuckled .
” I’m married to a politician remember ? Either you date Dera , or I tell your Dad and elder brother that you smoke hehehehe” she laughed .
” Child of the world ” I said and she laughed .
” I’m serious oh , don’t you dare think of a way to escape ?” she said and i cut the call .
” You’re in soup ” lucas said and i threw a cushion at him .

” Good I’m currently on my way to the restaurant , hopefully we’d get the meeting over lunch and I’d go over to my mom’s after that ” I said as I wore my wrist watch .
I pulled my long hair into a pony tails as the end loose in curls .
I checked my outfit and walked over to my wardrobe.
I checked the different pairs of shoes and opted for a black shoes to match my dress .
I picked my designer bag and walked out after picking my car keys .
My phone rang as I made my way outside .
” Hello … bestfriend …I know and I’m not going late to work because I woke up early today ” i said and I could hear him chuckle at the other end .
” What do you mean by the sun is shining from a different direction today ? Are you teasing me feyi ? I asked laughing .
” I always wake up early ….you’re insane …Don’t you have to be in the hospital ? I asked with a smile as I walked over to my car .
” I just got back from a night shift …” He said and fell quiet .
” Have you eaten ? I hope you’re not lazying about ? I asked and he laughed .
” Wife material ten thousand yards …do and get married so I’ll come and eat bride price ” he said and I chuckled .
” That’s if you’ve killed my father because there’s no way you’d be the one eating it ” I said and he gasped dramatically .
” After all I’ve suffered for you ? Remember when I used to help you take your bath when we where ….kids because you’re scared ghosts where in the bathroom ? Anytime you stayed over for the weekend ? He laughed .
” Don’t you dare say that , it’s so embarras-sing , how old where we then 5 or 6 and you still f*¢king remember that ? You’re crazy ” I said and he burst out laughing .
” Now you’re all grown up and doing posh girl , get married ” he said and I Frowned .
” What’s with the get married this morning ….have you seen a potential groom for me ? I asked teasingly .
” If you’re willing to get married to a 57 years old …? There’s this. ..” he trailed .
” WTF ….Feyi you no well ” i said in pigin as he laughed .
” Get outta my phone …” I said as I chuckled .
I caught the call and smiled as I got into my car and chuckled again .
He’s so crazy .
” Good morning Miss Adesua ” my as-sistant said as I got into my office .
I stopped walking and turned.
” What’s the meaning of those ? I asked referring to the different flowers and cards on my table , then bars of chocolate and gifts .
” They’re from your secrets admirers ….miss Ade ” she squiled excitedly.
” I asked you to always keep them away from my office,is this a mall for cards and flowers ? I asked and her jaws dropped .
” At least open them ‘ she pleaded .
I looked at her and sighed .
” I’d rather they come infront of me and tell me what they want ,rather than hiding behind flowers and chocolates ,I don’t have the time for hide and seek ” I said camly .
” Do you have a thing for your bestfriend? I mean maybe that’s why you don’t want somebody else ” she said camly and I turned to her .
” Escuse me ? I asked and she looked at me apologetically .
” I’m sorry miss ” she said immediately and I looked at her then chuckled .
” I’m not into Feyishayo….I just haven’t met the right person for me , or maybe I’ve set strong standards for my dream guy ” I said and she gave a nod .
” At least give someone a chance … You’d never know the one for you unless you try ” she said and I smiled .
” Fine …I’d think about it so you’d all stop pairing me with my bestfriend its way too embarras-sing for goodness sake he has a girlfriend ”
” I’m not a home wrecker ” I said and she laughed .

” Where exactly does my boyfriend stay ? I asked frustratedly .
I’d never been in his country before and the first time I get here , I get stuck in such a busy traffic ?
This is crazy .
” Madam he lives …. ” he said and I looked at her .
” What ? I asked with a chuckle and he smiled .
” No problem let’s just go ” I said as he drove .
My phone rang and I picked up .
” Hey baby ” I said immediately I picked up .
” Ofcause I’m mad at you , I expected you to pick me up at the airport , plus I’m stuck in traffic ” I said as he apologized
” I can’t wait to see you ….” I said and laughed .
He droved into the hu-ge estate .. and I smiled at the interior and how rich and luxurious it looked especially with the African touch .
” Welcome to Nigeria small madam ” the gateman said as he bowed to me .
” Oh …. thanks” I said with a chuckle .
” What’s your name ? I asked taking off my shades .
” Okon, madam ” he answered immediately .
” Okay ? I asked .
” No …oh madam I say my name is okon uduak all the way from Uyo ” he said and I just gave nods even if I didn’t get one bit of what he just said .
I got into his mansion and heived a sigh of relief as the guards took my things upstairs .
” Madam welcome , welcome ….” A beautiful girl greeted as she bowed.
” Hi ….” I said as I ru-bbed my arms .
He has lots of servants around .
I heard noise sounds and frowned .
” Is someone around ? I asked the maids .
” Yes oh …Big madam is around ” one of them said and I smiled .
” You mean dami’s mom ? I asked and they gave nods .
” I’d just go say hi to her ” I said and made my way to the kitchen .
