I walked into the kitchen and saw the beautiful woman slicing onions in a chipboard.
” Hey dami’s mom ” i said excitedly as I walked over to her hu-gged her and ki-ssed both sides of her cheeks .
” Jesus !
” Who are you and why are ki-ssing me like that ? She asked dramatically .
” I …am Dami’s fiancee Jackie ” i said and extended my hands . She looked at my hand and back at me .
” Didn’t dami teach you how we greet over here ? You should know that this is not america where you go around ki-ssing people’s cheeks ” she said and I swallowed down nothing .
” I … un-derstand ma’am ” I said feeling intimidated by her .
” I actually didn’t know ” I said and she switched off her gas and turned to me with arms folded .
” You didn’t know ? Then what exactly did you learn from the times you guys used in courtship ? Or you both wasted it in the other room ? She asked and I blus-hed i blus-hed in embarras-sment .
f*¢k this is so embarras-sing ,dami Should have prepped me on the kind of woman I’d be meeting I mean I so wasn’t expecting this .
I looked at the floor as she checked me out ,I began to regret my choice of outfit , I mean I was wearing a mini dress that hu-gged my figure and showed a lot of clea-vage .
The dress was expensive and from a well known br@nd.
I ru-bbed my forehead blus-hing slightly , Dami doesn’t like it when I wear things that reveal a lot of skin anyways I wonder what made me wear this .
She walked over to me and pulled my dress together .
” Cover your water melons , your body is for your husband , I’m not asking you to dress like a grandma , but at least they’re fashionable dresses that should be better than this . I don’t know what’s wrong with you girls of nowadays , a man would still love and cherish you if you dress decently .” She scolded .

” I’m not really a fan of you anyways, I’m mad at both you and Dami for what Happened …i got to hear the wedding from someone else ….!
” I also believe you won’t be happy if your future son does that to you ” she said camly and I ru-bbed my forehead.
” I’m sorry ” I apologized as she looked away frowning as picked out steamed meats into a glas-s expensive bowl and began to bring out ingredients .
I lic-ked my lower li-ps and turned to leave since I did’nt have anything to do .
” Where are you going ? She asked and I turned .
” Huh upstairs ” i said and she sighed .
” Go and pluck the leaves …” She said and I stood shocked .
” I don’t un-derstand ” i said confused as I stared at the Vegetables on the kitchen counter .
” I can’t do it ” I said and she looked at me .
“Fine at least ..go over to the counter and grind those tomatoes in the blender ” she said and I ru-bbed my arms nervously .
” I don’t do kitchen chores ma’am , infact I can’t cook ” I said frowning .
I mean c’mon was she expecting me to cook ? What happened to the maids ?
” Eh….! Ah ah ah ….” She screamed dramatically.
” Damilare has killed me ooooooooooooo … Jesus ? ..
” What did I do ? Who did I offend ? Why has my village people decided to smoke untop my matter ?
” People of Lagos come oh …..! She started screaming dramatically as she sat on the floor .
‘ ma’am ” I called trying to stop her as the maids ran in .
” Ah …..” She screamed and started saying things in her native dialect .

” No I’ve taken the rest of the day off ,my fiance just arrived cousin …you’re crazy ” I said over the phone as my driver packed in the garage .
He opened the door and I walked out ,whilst he carried my brief case and suit jacket .
” No …I said no ,you better don’t give an escuse ,I’m expecting you ” I said laughing and stopped laughing immediately I got into the sitting room .
” Ah…..They have killed me ooooooooooooo ! ” I heard and stopped talking .

” No nothing is wrong ” I said and caught the call as I cut the call and followed the noise .
” Mom what’s going on ? I asked her immediately I saw her on the floor with both hands akimbo .
” What did I do to you Dami ….who did I offend that you decided to marry queen Elizabeth …!
” Who swear for me ! ” She added in pigin dramatically .
” Love ” I said and Jackie ki-ssed my li-ps softly.
” What did you do ? I whispered to her .
” I told her I can’t cook ” she said softly .

‘” Damilare did you know she cannot cook ? What attra-cted a foodie like you to a girl that cannot cook ?
” How would you survive in this marriage ? She asked .
” Mom calm down I don’t want your blood pressure going up ‘ I said and she shouted .

” Mom.” I said and she turned to her .
” She cannot cook the worse is she does not look like who wants to learn , Damilare you left Nigeria crossed border and fell inlove with the queen oyibo pepper !
” Is it this big yanch [ as-s ] that decieved you ? She asked and Jackie gasped .
” Escuse me ! Dami I won’t tolerate this madness …what kind of nonsense is this ? Jackie asked angrily.
” Babe don’t ” I said and mom looked at me .
” Is this who you want to get married to ? A girl with no respect , she just called me a mad woman !
” Me Bummi Daughter of Baba jide a mad woman ….ah I didn’t think I’d see this day …! She started crying .
” Dami that wanted to kill me …when I was br£-$tfeeding you …I became as slim as a kwashiorkor .

I know mom’s just being a drama queen , I mean she’d not stop again .

” Mom it was a sli-p of the tongue she didn’t mean it ” I said and Jackie gave nods .
” Ehn ….if she didn’t mean it that means she’s willing to move with me to your father’s mansion” she said smiling .

” I will … I’ll go with you ma’am ‘ Jackie said and I signaled her to say no .
” Ah at least all hope is not lost , I can still amend you well … and make you a proper ha-rdworking girl ” she said with dried eyes immediately .
” What ! Jackie asked confused .
” You’re going with me to my husband’s house ?” mom said staring at her and Jackie couldn’t refuse .
” Good at least she’s a good girl this beauty and packaged watermelon and a*s is not for vein …it’s to add like 70 yards of wife material to the 30 she has and everything …Stew ” she said ru-b-bing her hands.
” I’d just go ahead and tell the guards to relocate your clothes , oyibo pepper my able daughter in-law in the making ” mom said as she went outside .
” That your mother is out of this world ” Jackie said ru-b-bing her forehead .
” I’m sorry love , she’s still upset about hearing the marriage from her sister and I don’t think it’s a good idea moving in with her …” I said and she shrugged .
” It’s not gonna be that ha-rd I mean she seems nice , although she’s a big drama queen ” she said and we both chuckled .

” What are you doing here? I asked frowning .

” I don’t know what you want Rose , I’ve told you countless times that Ade and I are just friends, but no you wouldn’t listen you keep saying things that hurt Everytime but I still over looked things because I tried to see things from your side …
” I stopped movie nights with Ade ,I stopped lunch outings , I don’t even pick her call or talk to her around you .
” And she hasn’t given you reasons to think she’s interested in me but no ,you’re hell bent of cutting her out of my life .
” You even went to her company to start a cat fight and she forgave you ” I said and she sighed .
” I’m sorry baby ….just try to un-derstand that it’s not easy for me , …you don’t know it but …you’re way too concerned about Adesua .

” Adesua likes this snacks ,. Adesua doesn’t like these , are they lovely ? Good I’d just send them to Adesua ” she said as her eyes stung with tears .

She removed her hands and looked at me .

” We both know you don’t drink alcohol , what’s wrong ” I asked and he looked at me .
” Rose broke up with me ” he said and my heart sque-ezed with hurt for him .

He looked at me with tears I his eyes and looked away .
” It’s nothing don’t you have work ? He asked changing the topic .
” Does it have something to do with me ? I asked as my voice broke at the edge .
” Don’t blame yourself , maybe we weren’t meant to be together .Rose and I ….” He trailed .
” Feyi you love her , I’d talk to Rose. … If it’s about our friendship we can stop … ” I was saying and he held my hands .
” You talk too much … I’d be fine ” he said as he lay back on the pillow .
” Don’t tell Richie or my mom ” he said pleading with me .
” I don’t think that’s a good idea ” I said and he ? looked at me .

I ru-bbed my forehead tiredly , I can’t believe Rose left him because of me .
I feel so bad for feyi … maybe I should stop this friendship between us maybe he’d get back with Rose and be Happy ? I wondered .
