The drive back home was almost a quiet one but it got interrupted with Abigail silent cries.
I didn’t bother to say anything to her because i wasn’t still convinced with what I overheard her discussing with Eunice. What if its an arranged plan? Anything can happen with the way she was so close with her mother, and again, I didn’t want a situation I will show her my soft p@rt which she may use it against me, I had to distant myself until I’m sure.
We got home and she slowly c@m£ out of the car and we walked in together.
My mom wasn’t in the sitting room but just my dad on his wheel chair.
“You’re back? My dad asked turning to us and Abigail tearfully went to him.
“Daddy I’m sorry, she said and my Dad was so quiet.
‘I’m sorry, I believed in mommy lies because she made it look like you didn’t accept us as your children, we grew up to believe mom loves us more than you do, she continued crying.
“plea-se forgive me daddy I’m sorry, she said this time around going down on her knees but my dad st©pped her.
“Its alright, we all have been deceived by her you know, its not your fault, my dad said.
“What if you had died? She asked.
“But I didn’t right? I knew I had to fight to stay alive because i was thinking about my children, he said and she hvgged him while I stood watching and took my eyes off from them.
“Sorry your mother had to go that way, I hope you know its something we have to do with all she has done to our family, my dad said and she nodded.
“I un-derstand now dad you don’t nee-d to explain, and I can help you get back everything you lost, I know some of the men that Carried it out, she said and my dad smiled.
“Thank you, my dad said tou-ching her face and I decided to leave for my room so they can continue with their lovey dovey….. It was scratching my eyes alre-ady and i was beginning to recall the past how my dad do stand with Abigail without looking at my face twice.
“Purity, Abigail Called me and I st©pped on the way without looking back, but I noticed she was coming behind me,
“I’m sorry sister, I’m sorry for everything. You know my mom told me dad cheated on her with your mother to have you, that somehow you were not suppose to be dad first child but…….. “Enough plea-se, I thought you were a smart girl Abigail, what kind of petty lies is that? I asked.
“I’m sorry, I just saw myself joining in the fight to hate you and said awful things about your mother, my mom told me all of that, she said.
‘Don’t worry she’s locked up now, and I’m glad you are s-en-sible enough to journey on the right path, that’s good, I said.
“What does that makes us now? I’m I forgiven? She asked and I looked at my dad who gave me that pleading look.
He knew what Abigail did to me even though he put a blind eye to It all, but what can I do? She had both parents who stood by her while I was alone.
I only heaved and looked at her,
“Yes you’re forgiven, I said.
“Thank you, a hvg? She asked quite scared to t©uçh me but i drew her instead for the hvg.
“So you’re a doctor now? She happily asked.
“Yea, what about you? I asked holding her hand as we wanted having a seat.
“You know dad always wanted a doctor in his house, I tried though I couldn’t succeed but I’m studying medical biochemistry and I’m in my final year, she replied.
“That’s great, and your siblings? I asked.
“Joan just graduated from secondary but she’s planning to study something different, she replied and I saw my dad face, he wasn’t plea-sed with it.
“What’s that? I asked.
“She wants to be an actress, she replied and i smiled.
“Can you imagine what your sister Is dreaming of? My dad asked.
“But dad Is not bad, if that’s her talent let her go for it, I said.
“Purity it is bad, her mom keeps pushing her in dirty ways, today she leaves the house for dancing practice tomorrow for theatre group and her mother applauds her. What’s an actress bull$h!t, My dad said and I heaved knowing my dad is one Person that sticks to professional courses and acting is not just one of them.
My mom c@m£ out and Abigail slowly got up to meet her but my mom face wasn’t good when Abigail stood in front of her, Abigail was even scared to voice out,
“Mom she’s sorry, I had to speak out.
“I can see that, you’re welcome back home, my mom coldly said and left Abigail standing to take her seat.
“So I’ll be leaving tomorrow, my mom said and all eyes were on her.
“Why mom? Success asked and she shrugged her shoulders,
“What do you think? I nee-d to try fix my broken life after all this years, my mom said.
“Hilda i was having plans for you, you don’t have to worry whatever you nee-d I’ll make it available, my dad said.
“You don’t still un-derstand me do you? And i don’t want your help so i wont be indebted to you in anyway, I can take care of myself and i will find my own way, my mom said and I covered my face on my palm knowing my mom was so serious with what she told me.
“Okay ma if you get to the village what will you be doing there? There are good opportunities here i Can link you up with plea-se, Success said.
“Let me start from the scratch there in the village, my mom replied.
“Purity won’t you say something to st©p your mother? She has been there for so long its best she don’t go back there, she has a new life now and she can do something great with it, my dad said to me and i smiled.
“Don’t waste your time dad, my mom has alre-ady made up her mind and nothing i will say will change that, I said and she slowly looked at me and Charity call c@m£ on phone,
“Excuse me plea-se, I said and left for my room to pick her call…………..
3days later my mom alre-ady left, and we were re-ady to leave for home to get things right over there.
My dad told Success not to bother fighting his case which he as-sured him he still have a trusted friend that will do that for him.
Success had to return back for his job and i missed him so much, I was sad we will be far from each other but i had to let him go.
We arrived home and it wasn’t easy to tell my siblings their mother is locked up in jail, Abigail took the stress to tell them that. The last born was still small and he kept crying to see his mother, we took advantage of his are and deceived him, but prayed it lasts.
My dad alre-ady met up with his friends and business colleagues, but the lies Eunice spre-ad to them gave my dad stomach upset. He got angry with most of them insisting they should have found out first rather they abandoned him, but they explained their own p@rt which i won’t blame them all that after all they couldn’t reach my dad on phone.
2 weeks later my dad got everything he lost back while he walked using the aid of a walking stick until he is totally healed.
Meanwhile i just returned visiting my mom In the village and i was happy and surprised with what I saw her doing.
She wasn’t idle and was practically a business woman with the amount Success gave her to take care of her self when she refused any help From my dad.
I told her about my dad birthday the coming week and she heaved looking at me,
“I know what you’re trying to say, she said.
“Mommy you know you nee-d to come, it won’t be just a birthday p@rty but an all round celebr@tion for our family. We will celebr@te my success in school and the success we had in court including our lives you know, Mom you nee-d to be there, I said.
“Alright fine, she accepted.
“Thanks mom, should i pick you up? I asked.
“If you want, but i wont want you to, i don’t like you parading on the road, she replied.
“Success will be coming with me don’t worry, and his family will be there including Charity that’s why I don’t want you to miss it, I said and she rolled her eyes.
“Okay okay ma I’ve heard,besides i really want to see Success mom, she said.
“That’s my mommy! I said teasing her and gave her what I brou-ght for her and left the next day.
My dad knowing my mom accepted to attend the p@rty was so overjoyed,
“Purity I’ll get you a dress for her, plea-se make her wear that on the p@rty its important, my dad said.
“Hummmm Dad what are you planning on that day? I asked.
“Just make her wear it okay, its a happy day for us isn’t it? I just want to make her more beautiful, My dad replied and i nodded.
“Sure, I said……………..
